FAO Mods: Bug in the Billing software?
Does DannyH's distress suggest to you that there is a serious bug in the billing software? How many other BB customers are receiving such bills I wonder.
Can you report this to the appropriate division please? And let us know what the response is please?

I hope that Kerry, whom I spotted logged-in earlier, is, as I type this post, reporting this apparent bug in the software, and investigating the matter.
Even if it is just one customer, this must be addressed with great urgency mustn't it? How many other customers are getting such bills, customers who are living hand-to-mouth, struggling with monthly budgets, and in danger of a visit by the BT bailiffs because of BT incompetence? We all know BT's poor track record in respect of sorting out issues such as this. I'm a victim myself.

After updating with the latest software, when trying to edit a photo, it disappears (black screen) or screen is full of lines. If I blindly crop or edit the photo, when I exit edit mode, those changes have been made, but obviously this is unacceptable. Is this a bug with the latest software update?
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there? -
My external hard drive (1TB WD My Book Essential) suddenly has no room to backup with Time Machine! I am using Maverick OS and wondered if it is because of a bug in the system software. I purchased a new external drive with 3 TB and wonder if I will run into a problem installing it. I don't know how to transfer my files from the previous HD to the New one. I was told to use a cable, but how do I do it? Do I connect them both to the computer and drag the old into the new? How is it done? Why did this happen, the overloading of the Time Machine?
Why has the TimeMachine drive run out of space?
With the limited amount of information you've provided it is hard to answer this question. TimeMachine should continue making backups until the drive is full and then it should erase the oldest backup(s) to retrieve enough space for the next backup. Unless your computer's hard drive has close to 1TB of space on it, you shouldn't see a message saying TM cannot backup because it is full. However if you do have more than 500GB (1/2 a TB) then I can see how that message might occur. Also, if you are using the TM drive for double duty (backing up more than one computer or storing data other than TM) you could get that message.
Will you have this problem with a 3TB drive?
I always recommend that people look at how much they'll be backing up in total, add a bit extra for the future, and then multiply that by at least 1.5 and even better to double it. That indicates how large the TM backup drive should be. The TM drive should only be used for TM backups. It is ok to use one drive to back up more than one computer but if doing so, add up the contents of all the computer drives, adjust for the future and then double it.
Moving Forward
Disconnect the old TM drive for now. Connect the new drive and let TM do its job. I don't recommend that you try to transfer the TM backup from the old drive to the new one. Keep the old drive around for a couple months just in case you find you need it and then after a few months, if you like, you can erase it and use it for something else. -

You will see a bunch of extra plus signs (before "appliedFont"). Those plus signs were not there in the email which I sent. Here's the original text copied from my sent mail (into the web interface).
You really shouldn't upload fonts for general download...
Your problem is that you are missing a lot of extra equal signs.
For example:
if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles[i].appliedFont = "Rotis Semi Sans\t45 Light")
should be:
if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles[i].appliedFont == "Rotis Semi Sans\t45 Light")
Also, I'm not sure that you are always going to get a string. It might be a font object. If that's the case you are going to need:
if (app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles[i].appliedFont == app.fonts.item("Rotis Semi Sans\t45 Light")
(Or something like that...)
BTW,
It'll be much quicker if you get a reference to your doc and font and work from there:
var doc = app.activeDocument;
var font = doc.paragraphStyles[i].appliedFont;
Any ideas where they could have come from?I guess the forum software interprets a bracketed i as a symbol to start italic -- and converts it to a plus sign. This is a very bad assumption -- especially on a scripting forum!
Uh oh. That was a MAJOR problem over in the old FuseTalk Director forums (almost entirely about scripting). [ i ] without spaces was the FuseTalk way of saying italic, but it did not translate at all to or from the newsgroups. And that was only one of the problems with code in those groups.
In at least one of my emails, I was happy to notice that a forum-posted bold chunk was surrounded by old-school asterisks: *bold*. That really got my hopes up for seeing old-school *bold*, _underline_, and /italics/ indicators, but now I'm worried. I had checked all this stuff on the preview forums, but had NOT checked the emails back then.

Bug after the latest software update...
I downloaded the new update (1.3 if I'm right) 2 days ago, well it fixed a few things, but tbh since I installed it I cannot view my pictures in full screen, cause when I select one only a black screen comes in and nothing else! It doesn't freeze down it just doesn't show anything. Is this the problem of the software update or maybe I did something wrong? Has anybody else experienced this too? Help me out please!
I'm in the same situation and haven't been able to find any info either. I hadn't connected the fact that I did an update with it to be honest. I can see the thumbnails and if I use the jog wheel as if scrolling and then go back to the menu it looks like its been flicking though the pics but the screen remains black.

When my iPod Touch is connected to my Mac, and I select Update to update the software of my iPod Touch, I get a message saying that my iTunes software is current, but it will not update my iPod Touch software. Is there a bug in the iPod program?

I uploaded the new software this week and no longer can view google in landscape mode

To be honest, I can't tell you specifically why Google won't work in landscape mode - but I have some good suggestions.
1. Delete your Google App, and redownload it - and make sure you've chosen the version for iPad. This fixes the problem for most users.
2. Use an alternate app, like Safari (which has loads more features) or Chrome, both for iPad. And the search results are exactly alike. -
After attempting to update to ios 7, my iphone is stuck in recovery mode and will not connect to the itunes software server. I have already tried the resetting with power swich and home button and plugging into computer but it says the "iPhone software update server cannot be contacted." I am locked out of my phone. Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this issue and get the phone working again. I will add that I am now trying to restore it on a different computer with a lower version of itunes, but the computer that it initially happened on had the updated itunes and gave me the same result ... nothing. Thanks for your help in advance.
Try going to recovery mode as described here. You may have to try this more than once to succeed.
Use the original iTunes that the iPhone synced with.

I dropped my Ipod (4TH Generation Ipod Nano) I have got it start up again I have put it in disk mode and connected it to Itunes,
I have downloaded the new software through Itunes, that went well, it came up as normal.
I have got it to restore to factory settings. (Although before hand it synced and all that)
During this process it has seized and not done what it was suppose to, only displaying the Apple Symbol.
I disconnected, and it has gone flat and now is telling me to connect it to power, when I do so nothing happens.
It won't connect to itunes.
Please help.

I have an IPhone 4 which I just updated with the latest software, which put in it in Recovery Mode. It has the picture of the plug with ITunes, I downloaded it now its saying its in Recovery Mode, how do I save all of my previous data without Restoring?
I updated the phone before backing it up on iTunes, now the update wanted me to connect the phone with iTunes and it says the phones in recovery mode and it must be restored before its used with iTunes. I go to click restore and it says it will reset it to factory default and I'll lose all my current data. I have all my sons pictures and videos along with this notes. I can't lose all of this data! After iOS is installed you will be asked if you what to set it up as a new iPod or if you want to restore from a backup.
If you have a good backup you can restore that and you're good to go.
If you don't have a good backup, then you end up with a "clean" iPod.... -
I tried to update my iPhone 5 this morning with the new software update. Now my phone won't turn on. When I plug into iTunes, it says that my phone is in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored to factory settings. Is there a way to fix this without losing my settings? Why would this happen on a software update?

That is not what it says. Read the message again. It's telling you it has detected an iPhone in recovery mode and it must be restored.

i was downloading the latest software upgrade when the message "Itunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this phone before it can be used with Itunes" came up. My option of I phone recovery mode says that it will restore the Iphone to factory mode losing all information.

iphone wont recognize in itunes. it's got the latest software update and the latest version of itunes on the computer. the phone works as normal but i want to restore it but can't because i can only get the the recovery mode stage and then it needs itunes???
