  • I need help in booting the microsoft operating system

i need help in booting the microsoft operating system from startup.

Which version of OS X are you running? All you need to do is to purchase a retail copy of whichever flavor of Windows you like (I prefer Windows 7 Professional to Win 8.1) and use Boot Camp to install same. Then you'll be able to boot into either Mac OS or Windows by holding down the option key.

  • MICROSOFT OPERATING SYSTEMS: 32bit vs 64bit & THIRD PARTY HARDWARE / SOFTWARE

As WINDOWS 7 is the newest, and latest O. S. product from good ole Microsoft, in upcoming weeks and months, lots of people; professional Techs, and regular Users are going to be faced with thousands upon thousands of new obstacles and miscues. Purchasing the 32bit version of WINDOWS 7---or a combo pack of 32/64---is currently the easiest and safest way to go! Still few manufacturers offer their Hardware with Software support for 64bit. Of course, most likely this will be the next wave of the future, but for now, most PCs are operating 32bit Motherboards, components and such.
Performing a CLEAN INSTALL  vs  an UPGRADE is a matter of decisive choice. Though, if you've been having problems with your current Operating System and PC, then chances are, an UPGRADE type of Install is not going to fix your problems. Of course, a CLEAN INSTALL guarantees you will most likely lose previous info and data, but if you back that data up onto a separate Hard Drive, you will be able to retrieve it later (if you don't have two or more Hard Drives installed in your PC, then a stand-a-lone USB type of Hard Drive can be purchased for under a Hundred dollars ($100).
With most of the 32bit Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, technically knowledgeable advanced Users, or Techs while paying exclusive attention during an Install, can direct the Operating System Setup to install without overwriting existing data, however this procedure and process requires a lucid working awareness and understanding on manipulation and navigation of existing Hard Drives.
     GBJ

You don't want those page outs and swap files.
1GB is really meaning that just running web browser, email and something else you will page.
    Paging is slower than RAM
Laptops have slower hard drives for the most part still compared to desktops.
I would say 2GB will make a difference even for casual use. Safari alone has been known to use 600MB and up quite easily. Throw in Office, Logic, CS4 and you have a real problem and need that 4GB and up.
64-bit is more about the plumbing and address pointers, registers and can actually take more work to move things around. Your programs would need to be such that they benefit, and that each application or process can benefit from 4GB or more - each. And more than 4GB RAM.
Technical, but the best review of what Snow Leopard can mean for developers and the future of Mac.

The open/save dialogue has been in need of more views for a long long time, and that alone is worth the cost of Default Folder was; Finder has been in need of a rewrite for four yrs finally got it; send windows to its own application in the Dock and not left orphaned on the side and lost.
Multi-core isn't a big issue with dual-core but it has been and would have gotten much worse in the future without SL's Grand Central and other improvements. Moving to new compilers and with the help of Intel to better use new chips and hyper-threading.
Windows 7 runs smoother and faster and showed a lot over Vista and why those that used both won't go back. That is what I would expect to see from 10.6 eventually. There were problems where 10.5.x would get lost, not respond, the mouse would move but no interaction with the system itself, like a run-away train.

  • Timeline for Flash with 64 bit operating systems

Has there been any timeline for when Adobe will put out a version on Flash Player that works with 64 bit operating sustems? I looked around the site and forums and couldn't find anything on it other than the fact that it was going to come out after Version 10. Approximately when might that be?

i thought the 10.1 version (beta 2) was to support  64 bit browsers..  Even on Windows 7 and windows vista.  Many Computer manufacturer's are now pushing the 64 bit versions of the microsoft operating systems which come equipped with the default internet explorer 64 bit version.
When will this version be available for download on windows 7 64 bit?
And if it is available (even as a beta) where can I download the flash player for 64 bit operating systems and browsers.

  • Biometry not allowed by operating system policies

I have a Dell XPS M1330 with clean Windows 7 Build 7100 using UPEK TouchChip Fingerprint Coprocessor (WBF Advanced Mode), Driver version: 1.2.0.147; Driver Date: 4/23/2009.  The hardware is working properly, and I have tried with and without Protector Suite 2009 and receive the same error message: "Operation is not allowed by operating system policies. Try to logon as a different user.  I am only using the built-in administrator account with no other accounts; I have looked through GP and biometry is enabled, CLT+ALT+Del is also set correctly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The built-in administrator account is not supported by Microsoft WBF and in their policy guidance FMAs are advised to inform organizational admins that biometry is unavailable for built-in administrator and guest accounts.   However, there is a work-around to the ever annoying:
Error Code: E7210005            "Operation is not allowed by operating system policies."
First, you have to understand how Fingerprint Software works, at least UPEK, Inc. in this case.  Put simply, the UPEK software takes your username and password and links that data to a biometric fingerprint which is given its own unique identifier.
Every username created in Windows is also given a unique identifier, a numerical "fingerprint."  This is by design and is separate from the Biometry that comes later.  Because the UPEK software does not record this unique user identifier or process it in any way, its fairly simple circumvent Microsoft's Built-In Operating System policy:
    1.  You will never be able to enroll fingerprints in a built-in admin or guest account directly, you must import them.
    2.  If you are going to use this feature in contravention to Microsoft operating system policy you are going to have to come up with some renaming conventions.
    3.  Use Windows Key +R (Run) and type "control userpasswords2"
    4.  Create a new user with a password and admin rights, choose a username that you will want to rename the built-in Administrator account to, i.e. SysAdmin, or Admin etc.
    5.  Log Off Administrator and log on to the new account.  Enroll all the fingerprints you are going to want to use.  Then use the application to "Export" to a file in the root of C or    some commonly accessible area.
    6.  Once this file is exported, log off the new user, log on to the built-in Administrator, first delete the newly created user via Run: "control userpasswords2";
    7.  Next you want to rename your built-in Administrator account in the Advanced tab to the username you just deleted.  It must be the same username exactly.
    8.  Once you have renamed your built-in Administrator account.  Log off.  Then Log back on.
    9.  Start your UPEK suite or Biometry application, and go through the Import process.  Once you select your exported file for import, you will generally need to enter the password you created for it when you exported it, but its important to remember that you will only be able to use the fingerprints you enrolled under the other user, you will never be able to add new fingerprints to enroll, or otherwise edit the enrolled fingerprints.
    10. For office environments, there are 10 slots so a maximum of 10 users could theoretically have biometric access to the built-in Administrator account in direct violation of operating system policy, a very dumb operating system policy.

I just installed the Lion operating system, basically to upgrade my iPhone. I didn't realize that my Microsoft Office 2004 application would no longer work. I have been using Word for my writing and I receive most of my emails with Word attachments. I have been using Apple products for years, always touting their reliability and customer service. I am not a techie, I just want to be able to do what I do on the computer and Apple always fulfilled my needs. Now I am told because of some operating system gobbledygook, I have to go out and purchase new software to use Word. This is despicable. I see no particular benefit to using Lion, but I do see a lot of detriments. Apple now seems to have turned into Microsoft, making software obsolete so they can make more money and to **** with the customer. You can be sure that my next computer will be a PC. I have completely lost confidence in Apple.

I seem to never tire of saying this. It was for Apple when they first announced 10.7 to disclose this. Yes, it was widely reported -- or rather, rumored -- but not by Apple. And many people who have gotten caught by this assumed that Apple itself would have told them beforehand about the loss of this very important feature which they had come to rely on. As far as I know, not even in fine print, does this appear anywhere on the Lion announcement or any of its links.
I am not saying Apple had to continue Rosetta in Lion, or forever, just that if it was going to be dropped, it should have been made known.
As relative "insiders" we should not forget that many people don't have the time, habit or interest to do this kind of research. I think it is a breach of trust that Apple has never directly made this announcement or given people the opportunity to decide beforehand if giving up their PPC apps for a new OS is a worthwhile tradeoff.

should i stop both services for moving from one drive to another?
note: I tried teh below solution but this didint work:
ALTER DATABASE <DBName> SET OFFLINE WITH ROLLBACK IMMEDIATE
    Update:
now am getting the message :
    Msg 15010, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_detach_db, Line 40
The database 'CMP_143' does not exist. Supply a valid database name. To see available databases, use sys.databases.

Unable to open the physical file "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\CMP_143.mdf". Operating system error 2: "2(The system cannot find the file specified.)".

First you should have checked the database mdf/ldf name and location by using the command
    Use CMP_143
    Go
    Sp_helpfile
Looks like your database CMP_143 was successfully detached but mdf/ldf location or name was different that is why it did not get copied to target location.
Database is already detached that’s why db offline failed
    Msg 15010, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_detach_db, Line 40
The database 'CMP_143' does not exist. Supply a valid database name. To see available databases, use sys.databases.
    EXEC @RC = sp_attach_db @DBName, @DESTData, @DESTLog
Attached step is failing as there is no mdf file
    Msg 5120, Level 16, State 101, Line 1
Unable to open the physical file "D:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\DATA\CMP_143.mdf". Operating system error 2: "2(The system cannot find the file specified.)"
    Solution:
Search for the physical files(mdf/ldf) in the OS and copy to target location and the re-run sp_attach_db with right location and name of mdf/ldf.

  • [823] [HY000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The operating system returned error 1450(Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.) to SQL Server.

    Hi,
I am facing an issue while loading fresh data into SQL server database.
we are able to load data into staging area, but while processing stored procedures system face bellow error message :
[823] [HY000] [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]The operating system returned error 1450(Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.) to SQL Server during a write at offset 0x00000243bd0000 in file 'E:\SQLDB\DBName.mdf'.
Additional messages in the SQL Server error log and system event log may provide more detail. This is a severe system-level error condition that threatens database integrity and must be corrected immediately. Complete a full database consistency check (DBCC
CHECKDB). This error can be caused by many factors; for more information, see SQL Server Books Online.
we use windows 2008 R2 with SQL server managment studio 2008.
    Appreciate your suggestion.
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Manorath
    Manorath

    Hi Manorath,
Based on my research, this issue can be occurred in the following scenarios:
You are running a DBCC command on a large database. For example, you are running the DBCC CHECKDB statement on the database. At the same time, you run many DML statements on the database.
You create a database snapshot for a large database. At the same time, you are running many DML statements on the database.
In these scenarios, the SQL Server service stops responding. The DBCC CHECK statement is never completed, and you receive the error message repeatedly.
This issue occurs because the sparse file for a database snapshot file has exceeded the file size limitation in NTFS file system. When the operating system error 1450 occurs, SQL Server enters an infinite retry loop.
To fix this issue, please download and install Cumulative update package 1 for SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1. Besides, because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous
SQL Server 2008 fix release. We recommend that you consider applying the most recent fix release that contains this hotfix.

  • Using Microsoft.UpdateServices.ClientServicing apis on windows operating systems.

    Hi,
I am willing to use some apis from "Microsoft Update Services", but MSDN says that ,
`This namespace is used in combination with the Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration namespace to support updates for clients using operating systems other than Windows (for example, the Windows Mobile operating system).`
Does that mean that i cannot use the apis on windows Operating systems (eg. Desktop OS)
    Thanks,
    Suraj K.

There are two namespaces in the WSUS API:
Microsoft.UpdateServices.Administration - which is used to manage the WSUS server
Microsoft.UpdateServices.ClientServicing - which (as you've noted) is designed to support custom written agents on systems other than Microsoft Windows -- a facility mostly pointless since the SDP schema used to package updates only supports
Microsoft Windows executable file formats -- but theoretically it could have been used to support a Windows Mobile 6.x agent, or could even be used to support a Windows RT agent (if only the RT executables could be packaged into a WSUS package).
If you want to leverage existing Windows systems (i.e. the Desktop OS) talking to existing Microsoft patch management systems (e.g. AU, WU, MU, or WSUS), you'll actually need to write to the
Windows Update Agent API which is a COM interface.

i downloaded microsoft office to my MBP and my question is how do i get the right file or operating system to open it and so that i can use it?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
There are two Office versions: Office for Windows, and Office for Mac.
I suspect that you have downloaded Office for Windows, and you can use it if you install Windows, but a cheaper and easiest way to use Office is to use Office for Mac, so you won't have to install Windows. See > http://www.microsoft.com/mac
