FAQ pages

Many FAQ pages have at the top of the page, a list of the questions answered, with a link to the paragrahs below, on the same page. Is there a way to do this in iWeb? I can see how to make the text into a hyperlink, but I can't see how to link to someplace else on the same page.
Thanks for the help.
Adam

You can open the html files generated by iWeb in any text or html editor. In TextEdit, to view the code in an HTML file, choose File > Open and select "Ignore rich text commands." Then locate the .html file and click Open.
If you publish to dot mac, mount your idisk using the "go" menu in Finder. This will place your idisk on the desktop.
Then go to iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/Sitename/Pagename.html
If you publish to a folder, try looking in your Sites folder of your home folder.

  • FAQ page is active

    For the time being, the FAQ page http://forums.adobe.com/thread/424418 just contains links to useful discussions on the forums.
    If you see a discussion you want to nominate, please do it here. Also, any other suggestions about FAQs or the FAQ page.

    re: The breadcrumbs
    As Curt described, there is a glitch in following the breadcrumbs backwards. For instance, when you first enter the Video Lounge, the breadcrumbs are:
    Adobe Forums>Adobe Premiere Forums>Video Lounge
    Then if you go to a discussion the breadcrumbs are:
    Adobe Forums>Adobe Premiere Forums>Video Lounge>Discussions
    If you click "Video Lounge" to get back to the Video Lounge page, all is well. But if you click "Discussions" you get a view of the Video Lounge page without the links box on the right, and with some boxes we deleted. Nobody seems to know why this is. The mods on all the Adobe forums have raised this issue with the forum sysop, and it may some day be fixed. Or maybe never.
    In the meantime, be aware.

  • FAQ Pages - Best Way to set up with Muse

    I need to design an FAQ page.  What is the best way to format it?  What are my options?
    Kevin

    In order to design a FAQ page in Muse, the simplest way could be by using the Featured News widget available. Refer to the below screenshot with settings that should work for you and give a nice feel to it using the various transition options available.
    Another alternative would be using link Anchors so you can have all the questions listed somewhere at the top of the page one after another (just like a normal FAQ page we see on any site) and link their answers with the help of the anchor tag somewhere around at the bottom. So now when somebody clicks on Question 1, he would be smoothly scrolled down to Answer 1. Refer to the screenshot below.
    Thanks,

  • FAQ page

    I'm looking for a way to display my FAQ page where the
    answers to the questions will be shown once the user clicks on the
    + sign next to the question. I've looked online but all the results
    use javascript and I would like to stay away from that. Is there
    any way to do this? Or will I have to resort to javascript?

    Time machine's backups tend to leave out unimportant things like caches and logs -- which is fine, except that it also leaves out some log folders, which must exist for the service to create its logs in. Fortunately, it's not hard to recreate them; see [this message|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10954325#10954325] for the procedure (and how to fix a permissions problem you might also have).

  • How to Create a "FAQ" page where the top of page has all the Hyperlinks

    Hi,
    On iWeb, how do I Create a "FAQ" page where the top of page has all the Questions as Hyperlinks.
    The hyperlinks would not actually link to a separate page, but would automatically scroll the page to the spot where the question is answered.
    An good example is below:
    http://www.cardrunners.com/members/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=102 &Itemid=2
    Thanks for your help!

    Sarah,
    As is pointed out what you would like to do is old fashioned Anchors, real easy on a conventional site but not so easy in iWeb.
    I made an FAQ by just making questions followed by answers and increasing font size and using bold to make the questions stand out so it is easy to use.
    Much more work for you but will approximate what you are trying to achieve is this: On the FAQ page make your list of questions each of which you will make into a hyperlink to go to another page. For every question add a blank page to write the answer on. Uncheck the relevant box so that that page does not appear in the navigation bar. Write your answer on that page then under it make a hyperlink back to the FAQ page. The page would also by default have the normal navigation menu at the top, but adding a "Close Window" or "Back To FAQ" link that is actually just a hyperlink to the FAQ page is helpful for site visitors.
    While a lot of work to make the extra pages it should work well and solve your problem.
    The simplicity of iWeb soon provides problems as soon as you want to do more than the basics offered.

    Such prefs shouldn't be in user.js as they will cause problems as you've noticed.
    Did you copy other prefs from prefs.js to user.js?
    You should be cautious with doing that and only place prefs in user.js that are either changed via the user interface in Tools > Options or prefs that can't be set via the user interface, but never prefs that are set automatically like the first run prefs for extensions. Even prefs set by extensions can cause problems if an extension updates.

  • Designing Dynamic FAQ Pages for website

    This design is on the Adobe FAQ pages. Can anyone explain how you

    How do you get past the FAQ page on free music downloads??

    "BSOsoft".  You really ought to practice asking coherent questions.
    If I have downloaded the same app as you, I'd guess tapping the button called "Download All Pro - Click Here to Download" which is right at the top of the FAQ screen might be as good a guess as any.

  • Best way to do a FAQ page

    What is the best way to do a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page?
    I don't see anyway to link to a place in the page, so the only way is to list the Question & Answer one right after another in a long text box.
    Any ideas?
    bob

    Bob:
    iWeb doesn't support anchors. However, Peter Berglund and devised a somewhat crude method of using HTML snippets as anchors. You can read about it at his blog: http://web.me.com/petber/iWebtips/iWeb_Tips/Entries/2009/2/22_How_to_use_Anchors_iniWeb.html
    Cyclosaurus has posted a method using javascript in a HTML snippet which would be more sophisticated than Peter's method. Read his post in this topic: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7676908&#7676908. He has several other posts in the iWeb 08 forum on anchors. The method is a little difficult to understand if you don't know java script very well.

  • Everytime I open Firefox after the last update, it runs an add on compatability check and opens two tabs. One tab is the firefox "latest update faq" page and the other tab is the set homepage. This is very annoying, how do i make it stop???

    when it checks add on compatability every time, its starting to get a little annyoning. I like firefox but am about to uninstall it.

    See this article for some suggestions: [[Firefox has just updated tab shows each time you start Firefox]]
    See also http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved and [[Preferences are not saved]]
    [[How to set the home page]]: Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols.

  • Styling for simple faq page

    I have a styled box class within which I would like a really
    simple faq, one
    line with a question, the answer below which will be no more
    than 2-3 lines.
    I have tried using a .indent class with a 25px indent,
    however, this makes
    the box style fall over although the indent works.
    .box{
    width: 425px;
    margin: 0 auto 20px auto;
    border-width: 20px 1px;
    border-style: solid;
    border-color: #1e1c74;
    background-color:#FFFFFF; /*me*/
    I guess this would be a Word-type hanging indent I'm after if
    there are any
    suggestions please.
