FAQ's Literature Sitemap shows ID
Hi All
I need some help.....again!
I checked my sitemap and it shows my FAQ's and Literature modules showing up as http://6sm.co.uk/LiteratureRetrieve.aspx?ID=108707 you can see the full sitemap here www.6sm.co.uk/sitemap.xml.
How do I get it to show the FAQ question, or the literature title? Also does anybody know how to make a pdf searchable?
I have gone through and updated the FAQ page properties but not sure if this will make any difference as the sitemap wont update till later tonight.
Thanks for your helo.
Asda Ali
Literature items for most of the options other then the stream ones will not show a file extension.
Secondly Search engines do not consider content in form of a PDF and thus do not consider a link to a PDF to be much relevent to your SEO. Content Content Content - Actual site, that is what they lap up.
In terms of the URL stuff for FAQ - These currently do not have friendly URLs so yo ucan not change them
Literature item hard link will also be the ID of the item.

If the SSRS is changed to SSL mode and http binding is removed after Reporting Service Point is installed. The Configuration Manager Console shows nothing in Reporting Pane. After digging into this problem, the cause is that the SSRS information has not
been updated in Configuration Manager Database. The following steps are taken for finding the root cause.
1. After changing to SSL, the Reporting Service Point log shows the error as shown in Figure 1.
The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

Failures reported during periodic health check by the SRS Server DB2.SCJIZHO.COM.

From the error, seems the cause was the Reporting Service Point detected a wrong port. We digged around in Registry and found the information is a Registry key named ReportServerUri at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SMS\SRSRP. After changing the Report
Server address to https. The error is gone as shown in Figure 2. But the issue remains, the Console still shows nothing. It is not a right direction.

It seems the Console wants to access the old http site and it fails to get into the site for sure. Actually, the Site Configuration information is come from Site Control File and as we all know that ConfigMgr 2012 doesn’t store the Site Control file in the
file system. However, it’s stored in the SQL database (as XML file). The XML file is stored in a view named vSMS_SC_SiteControlXML. This view is a read-only view. We cannot edit it directly. The related table stored the SSRS information for this view is SC_SysResUse_Property.
Running the following query will list the SSRS address. We can see the address is still the old one. This is why the Console shows nothing.
SELECT
name,
value2
FROM dbo.SC_SysResUse_Property
where name
='ReportServerUri'
or name=
'ReportManagerUri'
Remarks:
This article is just to let you know why the Console cannot show the Reports after changing to SSL mode. We do not intend to make you change the table in Database, if you want to change it, you will be at your own risk. The real solution to this situation
is to reinstall your Reporting Service Point.

Something is preventing Firefox from loading your profile correctly. You may want to try loading Firefox in Safe Mode with add-ons disabled.

Once you're in Safe Mode you can view a list of your plugins in '''Tools > Add-Ons > Plugins''' and disable each plug-in one by one until Firefox can open normally outside of safe-mode. If disabling one particular plugin fixes the problem you will need to uninstall that plugin. HOW CAN I USE TIME MACHINE TO BACKUP ONLY PART OF MY FILES ON EXTERNAL D?
Hi, I am using time machine to back up all my files at the moment. but I want to get rid of video and photo material from my laptop and keep it on the external hard drive to which the time machine backs up my stuff.
how can i do this without losing the video and photo files permamnently?
thank a lot!nefsi wrote:
doesn't time machine back up my files on the External hard disk?
By default, Time Machine backs-up almost everything on your internal HD to your External HD. It can also back up things on an external HD, if you want it to.
What I would like is, to find a way so that I could back up everything, but not have all the videos and photos I do not use often, on my laptop. instead I want to put them on the external hard drive and have time machine update all the other files.
Yes, you can do that, but there are two considerations:
You should partition the external HD so the TM backups are in one partition, and the other files are in the other partition. A partition (also called a volume), is treated like a separate disk for most purposes. See #3 in the Frequently Asked Questions *User Tip* at the top of this forum.
You should find another way to back-up the videos and photos in that other partition, such as archiving them to CDs/DVDs.
In other words, can Time machine back up only some of my files?
Yes. You can exclude things from Time Machine. See #10 in the FAQ Tip. If you partition your TM drive, the other partition on it should be excluded automatically; but if it isn't, you can easily add it to the +Do not back up+ list in TM Preferences > Options.
For detailed instructions on making another partition on your external HD, see #6 in the FAQ Tip. It shows how to add a TM partition to a drive that already has other data on it, but the procedure is the same. -
I have created some forms for our congregation to fill in with answers on adobe forms central. When I go to turn it into a PDF for printing for a hard copy, (not all our members have internet) when i save it to a PDF, it doesn't save all the pages and formats it differently then show on the screen i programmed it onto. How do I fix this issue?
Hi;
In the "Feature Tutorials/Help" linked from the top of the main page of the Forums: Feature Tutorials / Help
There is a Tutorial on "Creating and distributing fillable PDF Forms": Tutorial: Creating and distributing fillable PDF forms
The main thing to look at is the "View" setting and for PDF set it to "Page View", the page breaks you define in Page View will be used in the PDF, there are also "implicit" page breaks added automatically based on the page size.
For the issue with clip art see this FAQ: Image does not show up in PDF

Link to CSS problem (in Design View)
Hello Dreamweaver experts,
In the Design View Dreamweaver CS3 is not picking up the
styles specified in a linked stylesheet. Let me explain...
I am using an application in our office that relies upon HTML
(but does not use a standard web browser).
I need to refer to linked stylesheets using a variable like
so;
[example #1]
<link href="{FILES_DIR}/path/css/stylesheet.css"
rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
The use of the variable construction "{FILES_DIR}" eliminates
the need to hard code a drive letter into the link which is
preferrable. Without "{FILES_DIR}" I have to hard-code the drive
letter like so;
[example #2]
<link
href="file:///K|/additional-path-details/path/css/stylesheet.css"
rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" -->
Both examples above yield the same result in the application
(the stylesheet is found and its styles properly applied).
However, only with example #2 does Dreamweaver's "design
view" pick up and apply the stylesheet. Dreamweaver cannot find the
stylesheet or apply its styles using example #1.
My question is how can I make Dreamweaver understand and
apply what "{FILES_DIR}" means.
Any tips, tricks or pointers would be most welcome..."horse.badorties" <[email protected]> wrote

Did you look into "design-time" styles sheets? That may solve
your problem.
It won't take care of the path in the document though...

Adding a link to a CSS Dropdown Menu
Hello all:
I am fairly new to the world of CSS and am having some
trouble. I found a CSS menu online and styled it to look correctly.
But now I need to add some functionality to it and can't quite get
my head around how to do this (trial and error has not been working
=)
If you take a look at the following link, I would like to
creat a link out of each of the big square buttons. "Specials",
"Chicago Souveniers", etc.
http://gdsquared.com/clients/souvenir/mm5/home.htm
The corresonding CSS file can be viewed at this link. The
beginning of the navigation bar is commented out as, ----- NAV:
START------
http://gdsquared.com/clients/souvenir/css/style.css
Currently when I add a href into the <li> it starts to
take on the properties of the submenus.
If someone could offer any help, it would be greatly
appreciated.
Thank you

You don't pull them apart, it's the opposite, you need to
*nest* them
properly

As you can see, the sub-menus need to be within LIs. ULs do
not "sit" next
to each other inside the main UL

Civilization IV resolution issue
Hi all,
I just managed to install Civ 4 Complete edition with PlayOnLinux, which uses Wine 1.4.1 and everything works great except for the game's resolution. I can't seem to find any 16:9 resolution in the options menu, except for my native resolution (1920x1080). I'm using an old GPU (Nvidia 8600GT) and can't run the game at full resolution smoothly, so I want it to run at 720p. Right now, I'm using 1280x800 which I believe is 16:10 and it crops the left and right sides of my screen, so at least it's not getting stretched! I tried editing the _Civ4Config.lnk file to force the game to use 720p, but it didn't work. I'm using the proprietary nvidia-340xx legacy drivers. Also, my desktop doesn't go back to its original resolution after closing the game and I have to manually change it. The Wine FAQ page seems to show only a work around for this and not a solution. I'd like to solve both of these issues, if it's possible!
Last edited by Hari701 (2014-12-31 17:11:49)I am not sure about this, but maybe you edited the wrong file.
You need to edit an *.ini file not a *.lnk file. In Windows, the lnk file will probably link to the correct ini file, but I doubt that will work in Linux. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you where to find the correct ini file.
Good luck. -

I designed a custom Facebook welcome page in DW and transfered it to FB. According to BrowserLabs, it looks fantastic on every browser and platform except IE8, which shows horizontal gaps between each div. I have tried and tried and can not find a solution. Thank you so much for your help.

Your construct is really "weird", try this:
#nav,#content,#bottom{float:none}
img{vertical-align:bottom}
If that fixes your problem, then you can simply *remove* the
float
declarations from your sheet.
As a side note, you should try to keep things as simple as
possible. I'm
sure you can safely remove "position:relative" from many
rules. Also, there
is no need to set a width on DIVs that are not floats (their
natural
behavior is to fill the the parent container).
HTH,
Thierry

DW CS3 vs DW8 Recordset code.
I have recently loaded DW CS3 and find that if I edit a
recordset it replaces the code, it generated by Dreamweaver 8 with
new code that does not work. The new code will only allow the
display of each field once, if I then attempt to display it again
in the page there is a null value.
The code below is for a page using DW 8 record set. (I have
removed much that should be there normally to keep the debug
simple)
<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT"%>
<!--#include file="Connections/test.asp" -->
<%
Dim faqs
Dim faqs_numRows
Set faqs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
faqs.ActiveConnection = MM_test_STRING
faqs.Source = "SELECT * FROM faq ORDER BY Popularity DESC"
faqs.CursorType = 2
faqs.CursorLocation = 2
faqs.LockType = 3
faqs.Open()
faqs_numRows = 0
%>
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<p><%=(faqs.Fields.Item("Question").Value)%> /
<%=(faqs.Fields.Item("Popularity").Value)%></p>
<p><%=(faqs.Fields.Item("Question").Value)%></p>
</body>
</html>
<%
faqs.Close()
Set faqs = Nothing
%>
This page shows the faq question followed by a forward slash
and its' popularity and then shows the question again on a second
line.
The code below is for a page using DW CS3 record set.
<%@LANGUAGE="VBSCRIPT" CODEPAGE="65001"%>
<!--#include file="Connections/test.asp" -->
<%
Dim faqs
Dim faqs_cmd
Dim faqs_numRows
Set faqs_cmd = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command")
faqs_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_test_STRING
faqs_cmd.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM faq ORDER BY Popularity
DESC"
faqs_cmd.Prepared = true
Set faqs = faqs_cmd.Execute
faqs_numRows = 0
%>
<html>
<head>
</head>
<body>
<p><%=(faqs.Fields.Item("Question").Value)%> /
<%=(faqs.Fields.Item("Popularity").Value)%></p>
<p><%=(faqs.Fields.Item("Question").Value)%></p>
</body>
</html>
<%
faqs.Close()
Set faqs = Nothing
%>
Despite the body content being identical when I view the page
the second question is missing.
They are on the same XP Pro system/site using the same Access
database.
Can anyone spot the error please?DW8 used ADODB.Recordset and set the CursorType = 2
http://www.w3schools.com/ado/prop_rs_cursortype.asp
adOpenDynamic 2 Uses a dynamic cursor. Additions, changes,
and deletions by
other users are visible, and all types of movement through
the Recordset are
allowed, except for bookmarks, if the provider doesn't
support them.
In other words you could go through the recordset any way
that you needed
to.
DW CS3 is using the ADODB.Command
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms808194.aspx
The returned Recordset object is always a read-only,
forward-only cursor. If
you need a Recordset object with more functionality, first
create a
Recordset object with the desired property settings, then use
the Recordset
object's Open method to execute the query and return the
desired cursor
type.
Not sure if this will work:
http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread.php?t=439942
try adding this to your page:
faqs_cmd.ActiveConnection.CursorType = 2

So I called a CS rep today to ask about charging the phone to my account, she said we are able to do this (up to $350 for me). I am looking at getting the 32GB version and the rep told me it's $399 before the $100 mail in rebate. Is this correct?! Nowhere on their FAQ page do I show this information so I am confused . Any ideas on this?
ThanksThanks, I had no idea what that rep was talking about lol.

ThanksRick and Jeff - we generally cut the noobs a little slack here. This isn't a Linux forum where we expect the noobs to read 20 pages of FAQs before daring to show their faces.
110105424 - Your name sorta makes me think of a robot from a Douglas Adams book <grin>. The manual is a good place to start when you have questions. Another place is Apple's iPod online help section. But I'll give you a quick rundown.
Audiobooks - you can download books from audible.com as well as rip audiobook CDs. The iPod has a bookmark feature that lets you return to where you left off and Audiobooks are stored in their own playlist so they don't get mixed in with the music.
Compilation - many CDs have a single artist - Audioslave for example - while others are a compilation of many artists - the Woodstock CDs for example. The iPod can help catagorize them.
Sound Check - some CDs are loud, others are softer. With soundcheck on the iPod will attempt to keep songs at about the volume so you don't have to keep adjusting the volume. Nice when you are shuffling songs. -

use
Try this:
position:absolute;
left:50%;
marging-left: - the value to use here is half of the width of
your DIV;
top:50%;
marging-top: - the value to use here is half of the height of
your DIV;
Note that you need to use "-" (minus) as these values are to
set neagtive
margin

Why does this content drop?
OK. I give up. At least for tonight...
This page looks as I want in IE but the main content drops
down below
the menu and just about fills the width of the container div
in FF. I
know it has to do with the margins being set on the menu and
possibly
the content, but don't see how else to do this. I am sure
there is a
better way, well actually a way that works, but I seem to
stuck in
whatever way I am thinking at the moment.
Here is the page:

No I meant the height of the image used for the header,
that's why I said to
slice it. Part of the image goes in th header DIV the other
part is used
with the nav. The rest is whole whitespace you don't need...

You don't think 10 - 15k doesn't worth the effort? But it is
huge! What's
the total weight of your page (including markup and all
assets)?

Use this:
#header img {display:block}
As a side note, you're not using the Image Replacement
technique I mentioned
before, which is no big deal as you're using IMG elements now
(vs.
background images), but make sure to use ALT attributes.
