FAQ: Where can I learn more about the SpeedGrade interface?

The SpeedGrade interface can be confusing if you don't know where to look. See this video tutorial by Patrick Inhofer for a full tour of the SpeedGrade CC interface.

Apple has what they call "online seminars" available on the main Logic page
http://www.apple.com/logicpro/
If you look on the bottom right hand side of the page, you see a link for online seminars. You'll have to go through a regstration process, then you can watch 3 or 4 streaming Quicktime videos of people using different functions in Logic. There's nothing really in depth there, but it does show you a few useful shortcuts and methods.

  • Where can I learn more about the Logic Environment?

I've been using LogicPro for a while now - since version 7 came out - and I'm ready to learn more about the mysterious Logic Environment. Anyone know of a good tutorial or website on this topic? I don't have a specific question - what I need is a general overview.
My sessions are primarily audio recording and mixing with a virtual instrument from time to time. I rarely use MIDI except to play the synths and instruments.
My environmental experience so far has been limited to creating and naming audio objects, accessing "hidden" faders and as an alternate to the mix views provided in the global and track mixers.
I'd prefer free advice but I'm not against paying if it's worth it. I have read the manual but I have a feeling that it will be more helpful once I have a better grasp on the big picture. It's a reference manual more than a how-to.
My MIDI devices are an Axiom-61 and PreSonus FaderPort.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Where can we learn more about the next version of FB?

The Air 3.4 release notes say that a new version of Flash Builder, now in beta, will be released in August.
Is there any place where we can read about the new features and pricing?

Rich text is a text format
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RichTextFormat
It allows for text formatting (like various fancy fonts, lists, links, colors etc). you can open TextEdit and play with it. Plain text allows for none of that. you can only type text and that's it.
Mail converts Rich Text to html when you send messages composed in Rich Text. as i said most mail clients should understand it but there may be some problems. I don't have much experience with other mail clients so can't say more.

  • Where can I learn more about Siri?

Siri works pretty well for me (for a Beta component) since I do not have a strong regional accent,  but I want to learn more about what it can do, how best to pose questions for successful interactions and follow its progress as it is updated by Apple. Any suggestions for good resources?

Here's a place to start: Learn more about Siri

  • I need to walk before I run, but I can't help it. Where can I learn more about writing expressions?

I find myself daydreaming about cool ways to create, and though I am an engineer at heart, my education is in business management.  I speak fluently in three oral languages, but only babble incoherently in one or two programming languages.
I want to learn how to convert my visions into functions that siena recognizes.  IN addition to the awesome references that you guys are providing her online, are there books I can buy that explain how to write better functions and expressions?
    - Something that allows me to progress at my pace?

Hi Aaron, I second you hopes and vision. Me also, I will buy some books or videos etc - for become better to do this. But it's in a early stage, still a Beta. So I think the best place is actually here. It's a thread with several (alreadY) excampelapps,
there is questions answared , and it looks like a nice little community already here!
Also, you can join (a little) Facebook-group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/projectsiena/
There is also popping up several blog's....
So - As long as Microsoft keep up the pressure on this AppTool, I think we can dig into it an learn a lot!  :)
    While having fun doing it!

  • Where can I learn more about setting up shared wireless for a small apartment complex?

I have a solid understanding of setting up wireless networking from the theoretical standpoint (protocols, technology, security, etc.) and from the standpoint of a simple home or classroom/lab installation, but have zero experience on what equipment and overall design might be required for a larger installation -- specifically, setting up secured wireless to be accessed by the residents in a 26 unit complex.
Does anyone know of any primers/guidelines that I can read that will help me understand the basics of what would be required for this type of installation? Or if you can create a basic checklist for me as a starting point, that would be great as well - thanks!

    Hi,
I have quite the same problem here. I firstly synced my iPad with my desktop, and everything seemed to be fine. Then I synced it with my laptop and two apps I purchased from my desktop disappeared from my iPad... All other apps that I purchased/downloaded directly from my iPad seem to work fine, but I would really like to know something more about the "logic" that iTunes uses for syncing...
Ah... almost forgor: yes, I read p. 28 on of UG, yes, I contacted iTunes support and they sent me here, and yes I read something (not that much, of course) here and there in the web...
Really would appreciate your help, because I wouldn't want to "loose" my apps each time I sync to my laptop... thanks!

  • Learning more about the features in PS touch

I was looking at PS touch, maybe for my ipod mini.
I was hoping to get more of a sense of what the features are, but it seems Adobe has replaced information with hype, giving us the Disney version of what their programs are about.
I'd like to know more about the features of PS Touch, specifically:
I assume I can use layers, but do they have modes such as darken, lighten, overlay, soft light, etc?
Can I create masks in these layers, so I have control over which part of the layer is applied to the image?
Does the curves tool have more than 3 points to adjust, can you add points as with full PS?
If I was working off my camera's memory card hooked up to the iPod mini, can I then do a save as of the image I'm working on, either saving it to the card or my device (in part to create a new image and to also keep the original) ?
It's very frustrating that this information is not more readily available to us. also, I may have missed it, but i didn't see a link to the forums from the Adobe pages, not under Learning, or about Adobe, or?
    Regards, David

    In order:
Yes, PS Touch uses layer blending modes just like in Photoshop (and Photoshop Elements). It doesn't have *every* blending mode, but the basics (like the ones you listed) are there.
The best that I can explain it as far as "masks" in PS Touch goes is that you paint your desired effect onto your image (via the Effects Paint tool). You do not need a mask layer per se as the effect is contained as you paint over the desired area. (You can adjust size, hardness, flow and opacity of the brush in this tool. If you have a tablet with pressure-senstive support, you can control size and opacity as well dynamically like you would with a Wacom graphics tablet connected to a desktop.)
You can add/subtract as many points as you want in the Curves adjustment. (There's a general Curves adjustment and one provided under the Effects Paint tool; both use the same interface for options.)
I don't think so, as the file system in PS Touch is self-contained (at least under Android; not sure about iOS). When you go to save a project, it's added into the main interface. (You can create folders to manage these projects, btw.) You can then export projects under a desired file type (like PSD or JPEG) locally or to a service like Adobe's own Creative Cloud or Dropbox.

  • Where can we find details about the different contributor types?

I see a few members being designated as 'Copper' and 'Silver' contributors. Where can we find more details about these contributor levels?

The initial ranks are based pretty much on post count only - (having been around for awhile I've seen the "progression"!) - Once you attain the Bronze ranking, other criteria come into play, and as Ann said, details are known only to the admins to prevent manipulation and "rank climbing" as it's been called.
I gather it's some combination of post count, tag count, kudos received, solutions authored, and then some totally subjective criteria (how well you "play with others", general helpfulness, accuracy of information given, etc).
The mods and admins do an excellent job of keeping this place informative, useful, and a pretty pleasant place to be.

  • Want to learn more about the command line for Mac OS X

Hi, I'm kind of new here...I've been using my MacBook since last summer, however I want to really get a feel of the command line and would like some recommendations on how to learn more about it.
Looks like it is based off of BSD, and I've been using Linux for about 10 years now and also have a CompTIA Linux+ cert, however some of the commands aren't the same.
So, if anyone can post some websites/recommendations that would be great.
    thanks

Buy any one or more of the many books available at Amazon.com about Unix under OS X. Linux and Unix are related but not the same. Even FreeBSD Unix is not the same as what's implemented under the OS X hood.
And you will find other good books at PeachPit.com.
There also is a separate Unix forum here.
