Hi bonesawisready,
It can sometimes take several business days for new titles to be added to our trade-in database -- including previously-released games introduced on new platforms -- so I'd encourage you to keep an eye on our Trade In program page for updates.
Thanks for your interest in our trade-in program!

  • Far Cry 4 best buy DOTD 19.99 (15.99 GCU)

Awesome sale today at Best Buy. Been wanting to play this, have been waiting for the right time. 15.99 sounds perfect ordered mine online today for store pick up on Xbox one. Can't wait, hope it's as good as it looks.

Well, it looks like it’s finally time for me to pick up Far Cry 4! Thanks for calling this out here on the forums, Jcparks1229, as it’s currently our Deal of the Day.
If you haven’t had a chance to check this game out, click here to head over to BestBuy.com and snag it for cheap!

  • Best buy mobile

If you sign up with a contract through bestbuy mobile do you pay your bills to bestbuy or the phone service provider?
So say you buy a phone and contract at best buy mobile and its for sprint, do your bills go directly to sprint or best buy?  I would assume sprint, but if so how does BB make a profit off this department, commission?
Disclaimer : I am not a representative of Best Buy. Everything I post here is "As Is" I am just here to help people out, from my experience as a Reward zone and .com customer service rep.

You would pay the bill through the carrier you chose. Best buy is just an authorized retailer of services and products for the providers. So they can sell you a phone, set up the service and plan and then you would pay to the carrier. :-)
Also, best buy mobile reps do not make any kind of commission on mobile sales. As far as how best buy makes a profit from the department...well, your guess is as good as mine! LoL

Don't take what I say as being absolute. There's always room for improvement.

  • Defect in aluminum? no help from Apple or Best Buy

So I am the owner of a new MacBook Pro 15" rig, purchased on Oct 19 online from Best Buy, picked it up at local store. Noticed a small defect in the aluminum case next to the power button. At first did not seem like a big deal, but the more I looked at it, and considering what I spent, I thought it should be looked at. I took it back to the Best Buy store and was told by Geek Squad guy that it appeared that something underneath was pushing up. He then said because I was (7 days) beyond their 14-day exchange/return policy, that there was nothing they could do for me, and that I had to call Apple.
I called Apple and after being handed off from two other CSRs, was inbformed by the third CSR that becuase the defect was not something that was affecting the performance or operation of the machine, there was NOTHING THEY COULD DO either. She said that I could take it to a repair center and pay for a new case, but because the repair guys would be replacing a part, that my warranty woud be voided. Hmmm...I spent over $1800.00 on this less than a month ago and expect to have the unit for many, many years. This is a glaring example of VERY POOR SERVICE. I can live with the cosmetic defect, but the customer service that I have so far received from Best Buy (not surprising) and Apple (who claims "award winning service") makes me think twice about what and where I will purchase in the future.
If anyone from Apple is monitoring this blog, maybe you can intervene here and win me back!

If anyone from Apple is monitoring this blog, maybe you can intervene here and win me back!
This isn't a blog, and nobody from Apple is monitoring it. Call Apple customer service. That's your only hope of a resolution.

  • Tonight was by far the worst experience I've ever had at Best Buy...Debating on ever returning

Okay so here goes...bit of a story but bear with me while I go through the details (there are quite a few).
First off, 3 days ago I finally decided I had enough of my Nokia Lumia 822, cracked screen mind you, and decided to add a new line of service to my existing verizon account and just pay the extra 40 bucks until my real line is up (5 months left). I purchased an S5 and was very happy with my purchase. Had a customer come into my store today, am a manager at Gamestop, and she told me about this awesome deal where if you buy an open box iphone you get a free 200 gift card! Of course I wasn't told this when I bought my S5 but I was within the 14 day period so I called about 15 stores, found two black 5s' in stock and booked it over there as I got off work. Buying a second for my brother for his 21st birthday, which I got home just in time to spend an hour with him for. To start, the relatively easy return process took about 15x longer than it should have... I got there at around 630-7 and it took until about 9 oclock to finally return the phone and get my money and everything back. This isn't including purchasing the new phones. Because it was such a good deal, I decided to add two lines. So essentially, delete the line I just created and add two. Simple right? I think not. Not only did the manager leave me with some untrained very impatient sales rep...she also left him and I unattended for about 45 minutes at a time, only to come in and fix his problems within five minutes. If it was so simple for her, why didn't she just do the whole thing? That bugged me but I didn't say anything because I figured it would get resolved. The phones ended up taking a bit longer to do activate on my account, and then for some odd reason not explained to me...only one of the 200$ gift cards printed. They have to request another one...AND THEN to top my night off, I go to see my new phone and the phone is icloud locked, meaning whoever did the return didn't even check to see if it was reset. I have this old owners contacts, email and everything on my phone and NO WAY of activating it because I don't have the apple id passwords. So let's go over this...Extremely long wait time for a return that could've easily been done by a manager, extremely long activation time and the promos I specifcally came in for (and called TWICE ahead of time to confirm) did not completely work (only recieved 200 out of the 400 in gc's) and I am now home only to have one working iphone that wasn't even for me and another bricked iphone that I can't even activate. So I'm left with no phone with my number on it, no way of contacting anyone either. This store is an hour away from me but they were the only store with stock and I wanted the deal...To be honest, I'm wishing I never even did the deal because it seems as though murphys law was in effect tonight. They've already told me they don't have any more open box phone but I have to drive back tomorrow (another two hours there and back and i drive a jag that gets 8 miles a gallon) just to finish a transaction that I WONT even be rewarded for. Absolutely ridiculous. I've spent over 10k in the past year at best buy and I swear every time I have an issue, I meet the same stubborn employees and am offered one, no compensation for literally time and trouble and two, absolutely no customer service leaving me completely unsatisfied with all my purchases. This is an extreme case and I know a variety of factors go into it. It's very unfortunate.
To be fair, the young (definetely not properly trained) gentleman that helped me was extremely respectful and I think he was just as frustrated as me...but it wasn't towards me at all. The time he took with me was definetely not overlooked. That might be the only positive out of this...However the negatives just overwhelm the situation. I hope I can talk to someone who might be able to figure out a solution to this nightmare! Thank you for reading.
    Chris {removed per forum guidelines}

    Hello Chris,
Welcome to the forum.  I sincerely apologize for the delay in replying to your post. I was sadly disappointed to read about your experience when exchanging your phone for the two iPhones. I can understand wanting to make the long trip to take advantage of the open box iPhone deal, and I truly regret we have let you down
Have you had the opportunity to visit the store again? If so, were they able to rectify the $200 gift card problem, and unlock your phone? I completely agree with you, while it's great that the sales associate was helpful, the manager should have overseen the transaction to make things move along faster. I assure you I will be documenting your comments for further employee training opportunities.
Once again, I am very sorry for any inconvenience you have encountered. I hope they were able to turn this experience around into a much better one, otherwise please let me know if I can further assist.
    Sincerely,
    Maria|Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate

I would like to know if anyone can help me solve this issue and if so, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It can take 15-20 days for the $10 cert to post and it may or may not so as pending. Based off your Nov 18th time line if your points are there by Dec 8-9 then bump this thread for assistance.

  • Far Cry 4 / GCU pre-order question.

Hello all, I signed up GCU yesterday ($30 with purchase of game) and I'm looking to pre-order the $130 version of Far Cry 4 (Kyrat edition).
It looks like I would be able to pre-order online but I don't see an option where I can pick it up in-store.  The only options I have are free shipping, expedited and, express.  In fact the site advises that it is 'only available for shipping'.
Is it possible to pre-order FC4 and be able to pick it up on launch day (11/8)?  If so, how would I do that?
    Many thanks,
    David

    Hey xbrit98,
I realize this may not be the answer you were hoping for, but this particular edition is currently only available for home delivery and is not available for pre-order at any of our U.S. retail locations. If you're interested in reserving a Kryat edition copy of Far Cry 4, then you'll need to do so on BestBuy.com and select your preferred shipping method at the time of checkout.
Thanks for your interest in ordering with us!

  • Best Buy Geek Squad Warranty is terrible!!!

Not usually a social media poster, but when I searched this topic and found I was not alone, had to vent. As previously mentioned in other posts, it seems that there is a general trend for BB GS warranty service to have a major DISCONNECT between their phone operators/technicians/customer service people and the actual technicians that are sent out to do the repairs, and the subsequent repair of their TV's.
It has been 23 days since I first contacted GS and I have had two home visits from GS and will have 3 different sets of parts ordered by the time they return next weekend!
Some history- I too have bought most of my bigger electronics from BB mainly for lack of serious competition where I live (mainly only Sears). I have bought at least 5 TV's from 32"-55" from them in the last 5 years, and this is the second large TV that has gone out on me within 2.5 years! The first one was a Samsung 47" LED that was 6 mos post warranty and basically the amount that they were going to charge to repair was something crazy! Thus, thinking that it was just the brand, I did my research and settled on a Panasonic Plasma rather than pay for an expensive repair.
Fast forward to 23 days ago. TV fails to turn on, notice power button blinks 8 times. Google search the problem, call GS. This time I did buy the extended warranty, but the tv is still under the manufacturer warranty. Talk to a tech he says no problem, will order parts for you and set up a home repair for after the parts arrive. I get no tracking # from UPS only when it should arrive. Arrival day comes and no parts! Repair is scheduled for the next day! Call GS, (who by the way is NOT 24/7 for repairs, only for tech support) and they say that the parts are delayed so will reschedule the repair appt. Parts arrive 3 days later and next day tech comes and finds out we need different parts! He tells my wife, I'll be back a week from now. No tracking for parts, so figure maybe the tech will bring it with him. Day that the tech said he will be back (a week after his first visit, as per his statement), we get no phone call or visit from the tech. Call GS that night, but of course have to trick the answering system to talk to a LIVE person, a salesperson, that is, and they say I have to call back tomorrow. Talk to them the next day only to find out the parts will arrive the next day and the tech will visit Saturday(yesterday). Tech comes and finds out he needs ANOTHER part! WTH!!! Tells my son, who stayed home to answer the door, that we will be back next week! Call GS and talk to a tech who tells me about the 30 day window or that they will replace the TV. He tells me that he is pretty sure that after the next visit that the tv will work! He also goes on to tell me that if it was him, he would have known what parts to order the FIRST time! He goes on to tell me that there is nothing that he can do since he works from home and that if I have further issues it be best to call corporate HQ and complain! TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!!! In all fairness to the telephone support people, they have all been overly nice and apologetic, but "so sorry" only goes so far. Why can't my local BB GS get on the same page with the techs that troubleshoot over the phone? Best thing to do is never buy from you clowns again! Hope Sears doesn't shut down all their stores here!

    Hello beyondpeeved-
I can certainly understand your frustration, no one likes to be without the service of a major electronic product like a TV, but it’s especially annoying when you are faced with delays as well due to parts, etc.
I absolutely apologize for all the delays that you have gone through up to this point and what appears to be a lack of communication on our part regarding the progress of that repair.  I’d like to look further into this for you, but I could not find any customer information for you with the email address on your forum profile.
If you could send me a Private Message with your full name, phone number and email address that I might locate a customer profile under, I would appreciate it.  If you could also include any work order numbers that you might, that would help as well.  You can send me a Private Message by logging into the forum and clicking on the button across from my name on this post.
I look forward to hearing back from you,

  • Best Buy/Shopkick Customer Service FAIL

Over the past week, I made two major purchases in your store, totally more than $1400 in sales. I am a regular user of Shopkick and to say I'm frustrated is an understatement.
I purchased a computer on 4/19 for $900 from a knowledgable and helpful sales associate, but was not awarded the Shopkick points for this purchase, however. I contacted Shopkick who told me I needed to "return" the product to the store to have the points loaded onto my account. I did this on 4/23, and it still didn't work. I contacted SK again. They said they couldn't do anything if it wasn't run correctly through your store.
I AGAIN drove the 1/2 hour to your store to get this straightened out. They reran it as an "exchange" because I couldn't return a return. Still, the points were not awarded. Now Shopkick is telling me that because the total on my exchange slip is showing $0, that they can't award me the points. They also indicated that it's Best Buy's fault that this is happening, which is even more frustrating.
I am at wit's end, because I'm owed over 2000 points on my shopkick account for this purchase, which is the equivalent of getting about a $10 gift card! I've now spent more than an hour and a half of driving, as well as time on the phone/email with your store and with Shopkick, to straighten this mess out. They said there is nothing more they can do, so I tried emailing Best Buy for help. Then YOUR customer service told me to drive BACK to the store to have them rering the purchase AGAIN! This is not only frustrating - it's INFURIATING! At this point, it's the principle of the issue -- you mean to tell me that NO ONE at either Shopkick or at Best Buy can help to make this right in some way without me having to waste more of my time??? Horrible, horrible customer service.
    Please help!

    Hello JennyLynn,
I’m sure all you want is your Shopkick points, so it’s truly regrettable to hear you’ve been led around on this wild goose chase when trying to resolve this on your own. I can imagine how confusing this would be, and I apologize for any frustration this may have caused.
As you may be aware, in order to receive points, your Shopkick account must be attached to your purchase at the register. After reviewing the original purchase from 4/19 using the email address attached to your forum profile, it seems your account wasn’t attached. This could explain why Shopkick referred you back to us to return the purchase and re-ring it in order to receive the points. However, as we merely did an even exchange and not a return and repurchase, the total purchase price appears as $0.00. As such, Shopkick wouldn’t recognize the purchase, and this could explain why there weren’t any points awarded.
As I realize this experience has been far from ideal, I’ve sent you a private message to discuss the options we may have available to us at this time. In order to read this message, please log into the forum and click on the envelope icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page.

  • Best Buy in Bolingbrook, IL

I decided to post here instead of writing a review on Google, as I know how detrimental those can be to an individual store, but they really deserved it. Maybe someone can make it right, or at least straighten out the issues with this store.
In April of last year I came into a large chunk of change, shortly after being robbed, and of course I decided to spend a bunch on gaming. What better way to get over that kind of stress? I very rarely shopped here, primarily for business when I did. So I came to this Best Buy (why not?), bought a 55" TV and roughly a dozen PS3 games. The very first thing that went wrong was the God of War debacle (Sony's debacle, that is). There was a collection out at the time that, unbeknownst to me, did not come with all of the games that said "includes" in big bold letters on the front. You had to download a couple of these games, and I remember calculating that would be 17 GB, bandwidth I did not have. But that didn't even matter, because the voucher was expired. This store was still selling these. So I came back to return mine. I showed the item to the guy at the door as I walked in. He nodded. I went to the customer service desk and explained the situation and the guy behind the desk gave me possibly the most condescending look I've ever been given. He raised one side of his upper lip and one of his eyebrows at me, and explained they would not accept it, and I had to contact Sony. This was a small item of a huge purchase, so it definitely would have been in his best interest to accept it, but even if he didn't, that look he gave me began to stew, and has been stewing ever since. It should also be noted that even after bringing it to their attention, these were still on the shelves the next several times I went into the store.
I was at the store for a while after this, picking out more games, and I believe this was when I was buying the TV (possible the events are out of order). Anyways, I'm paying for something, and the girl tells me, "Next time you come in here, you need to ask the guy at the door for a sticker, because it looks like you stole that." She was referring to the open God of War case. The guy at the door should have stickered the item when I walked in and showed him, if that were the case. One should not have to inform a store of their own policies. Up until this point I had no unpleasant experiences with anyone in a blue shirt, just the white shirt guy, but she might as well have said, "you look like a thief."
So far, majorly condescended unto twice, and denied what I feel was a perfectly reasonable return. I was already beginning to lean away from coming back here at this point. Then, a week later or so, I started hooking up my retro systems from my old TV to the new one, as those are mainly what I play. I realize, the upscaler in this TV has HUGE lag, and after much googling I realize this problem has been ongoing with this and similar models for a while and will not be resolved. The lag made everything that used composite signal unplayable, as everything you did happened over a second late. I already know that this Best Buy is not going to accept the return, but I decided to look at online reviews of this store, just for kicks. "Maybe my experience was a fluke," I thought. Nope, many other people have the same sentiments I have about this store - people swarm around you trying to sell you stuff, and if anything ever goes wrong you're out of luck. So instead of wasting my time, I just sold the TV, informing the new owner of its downfall. This was the third burn from this store - still selling a known defective model.
What I have not mentioned yet is that I used to buy things here for business until this stuff happened. After this, I decided not to utilize Best Buy in my work's entire computer network upgrade (that is, all computers and all network equipment), so (mainly) the smug white shirt lost them a ton of money.
A few months passed, and I had a few tech emergencies, most went okay. One day though, not that long ago, I was buying a network switch, once again in an emergency. Keep in mind, I am in ways both blue collar and white collar. I am the entire "IT department" and I run our maintenance department. I fix everything that goes wrong, computer or otherwise, so I am often wearing stained clothes. Because of this, I had to come to Best Buy wearing dirty clothes. I passed a blue shirt, and out of the corner of my eye I saw her head whip around, and when I look back she's looking at me like I was scum. The look she gave me can only be compared to Bernie Mac's bit about the little girl and the cookies. She noticed that I had noticed her, and she turned back. Normally I could disregard something like this but not after the aggravation caused on the other visits.
There are many good employees at this store, but overall the attitude is very bad, and I've lost money and time. These are not the only incidents I've had, just the ones that stuck out the most. I'm a very patient guy and, to date, this is the first time I've complained to a business, ever. Many times I've gone in this store, someone was arguing with customer service. It's just so unpleasant. I no longer go to this store, virtually ever. I just go to the TigerDirect in Naperville (which is unfortunate because I dislike that store anyways). Surely I am not the only person who commands so much money that they have shunned away. No one extremely major event happened here, but I was chipped away with many small ones, basically.
Anyways, we are currently doing renovations now including tech upgrades, and I felt someone should know why they are not getting my money (and many other people's).
Thank you for reading, and if someone decides to try to do something about it, best of luck to you. I feel better now having finally decided to speak up.

    Hello rside,
After reading through your post, it seems that your latest experiences have one thing in common and that is poor customer service.  We can have the best selection of products at the lowest of prices, but that doesn’t mean anything if we aren’t treating our customers with a kind, professional experience.  I’m sure this was far from what you were expecting from us, and I’m truly sorry for the disappointment this surely created.
Our stores should not only be friendly and informative, but our associates should courteous with our customers when they are requesting assistance. It sounds like something missed the mark though if you felt insulted after having tried to return your God of War game. Although we weren’t able to help with your game’s expired voucher, this doesn’t excuse the condescending nature you describe from our customer service agent. Even more troubling to me is the reported implied accusation of our cashier, and I’m sorry for any aggravation this caused.
No matter what a customer is looking to purchase, they should feel confident knowing they are buying something that fits their needs and wants for it. This is because our associates should be asking clarifying questions to narrow down what the purchase would be used for specifically so that they may provide you with your best available options. I’m sorry to hear that something was clearly missed though if an associate didn’t realize you needed a television that would be compatible with your retro gaming systems. We certainly can’t afford for experiences like yours to be repeated considering the many competitive choices customers have today, and I appreciate you taking the time to tell us about it.
Please know that as a company, we realize we do have room for improvement, and we are actively working to change this. It’s clear to me that we may not have ironed out all of the kinks yet, and I’m very sorry it has been at your expense.  I am forwarding your post to our team leadership including our general manager, Jonathan, as direct customer feedback is the best way to highlight which areas need the most focus.
Once again, I appreciate that you took the time to share your experiences in the level of detail you did. If it were me, I’m sure these would be stories that would be told time and time again whenever friends and family discussed poor service. It is my hope, however, that we have proven to you that we care and are committed to do better. I know you didn’t write with the intention of receiving any grand gesture in return, but I do hope you will let me know if there’s anything more we can do to show our appreciation and invite you back.
    Respectfully,

  • Best Buy is about to and Elite Plus customer

I've been an extremely loyal Best Buy customer for over 20 years.  I've been an Elite rewards member for 6 years, and Elite Plus since the new tier was created.  I've already re-qualified for Elite Plus for next year.  Needless to say, I shop at BBY several times per week.
That may all change unless they can fix this colossal f$#k-up that is placing several of my pre-orders in jeopardy.
Long story short: I've placed 6 orders that consist of video game pre-orders for limited edition versions, which are now fully reserved at all retailers, as well as several other pre-orders for pretty much every A-list release coming in Q4/Q1.  Some of these orders were placed as far back as February, right when the items became available for pre-order.
My BBY credit card was recently updated from the in-store card to the BBY Platinum Mastercard.  The old card--which I used for all of those orders--has now been deactivated.  I've updated my account to include my new card as primary payment, but there is no self-help option to specifically update your payment on existing orders.
I hit a snag when two of my orders that released yesterday went to process, and were denied payment, since they tried to ping the old card.  These orders were then cancelled for invalid payment before I had a chance to respond to the email regarding a payment problem.
I called support today, to see if they could manually update the payment information on my outstanding orders, and we found in a conference call with Citibank support that even though my new card is valid, since the process of updating existing orders doesn't provide a way to enter the CVV code of my new card (since it's not required by .com's systems), when they go to enter the order, it registers as a CVV mismatch and the payment is denied.  After a few tries with one of my orders for a common-stock item, the order hit enough denied payments to be automatically cancelled.
After being on the phone with them for 3 HOURS, I was essentially told that they had no way of fixing this.  The problem is, that when these limited-edition pre-orders hit their release date, they will encounter the same payment error and then be automatically cancelled.  But, if that happens, or if we cancel the existing orders and I attempt to re-order them, THEY WILL BE OUT OF STOCK AND UNAVAILABLE!!  Essentially, unless this error is fixed, I will lose all of my limited-edition pre-orders and since I can't order them anywhere else, I won't be able to replace the order anywhere, unless I shell out a ton of money on the secondary market.
Obviously, I don't find this satisfactory.  I've entrusted Best Buy with thousands of dollars of pre-orders, and because of a stupid glitch in their system, they have now essentially told me that this is an inevitable problem that even their top tier of support cannot correct, and they offered nothing to fix the situation to ensure that I will receive the items that I had ordered several months in advance.
This is absolutely outrageous, and it's the last straw.  If someone from Best Buy is reading this and can help fix the situation before my first LE pre-order of Q4 enters processing on 11/3/14, I would ask that they please contact me.  Otherwise, this screw-up is enough to finally end my two decades of loyalty at Best Buy.
I am very serious about this.  If no solution is found, and my orders continue to get auto-cancelled, I intend to cancel all remaining pre-orders (over 15 pending items), cash out my $500 worth of banked points, then cancel my Best Buy accounts and never set foot in a store or visit them online again.
I know people often make these claims of "never again" to be hyperbolic and blow off steam, but this is not just idle talk or grandstanding.  With Amazon Prime giving me release-day delivery and competitive prices, and 3 GameStops and 2 Apple stores within a 10 mile radius, I could very easily get by without ever giving Best Buy my business again, and I am fully prepared to do so if these orders cannot be rectified.
I would figure that Best Buy would go the extra mile to take care of their most loyal customers.  Heck, with how the customer base has eroded, I would figure they'd bend over backwards for ANY customer.  I can't imagine Best Buy can afford to lose too many more customers like me, but they're about to, unless something gets fixed and fast.
Ball is in your court, Best Buy.

    Good afternoon zsciaeount,
Thank you for being a loyal Elite Plus customer. I am terribly disappointed to read about all the wasted time and frustration you have been through regarding your pre-orders. Updating your credit card information on these orders should not be so difficult, and I am truly very sorry for all the inconvenience and frustration you have encountered.
According to our records, I see you are working with our Executive Resolution team. I encourage you to continue to work with them to get this resolved immediately to avoid any more pre-orders from being impacted. Should you still need my assistance please do not hesitate to let me know. I assure you it is my goal to help our loyal customers in any way I can. I will also be documenting your experience for further review.
Once again, I am truly very sorry for any disappointment this has caused, and I hope we are fortunate to continue to have you as a loyal Best Buy customer.

  • Best Buy hijacked my bank account and disposed my Best Buy points

I placed an online order on 09/05/2014 (Order number: (removed per forum guidelines) around 4pm eastern, and about 3 hours later, I got another email stating "YOUR ITEM HAS BEEN CANCELED". It was for an in-store open box item, which I was able to pay for online and pick-up at the store, or so I thought. I used two $5.00 reward certificates, a gift card, and my credit card to finalize the transaction. The email titled, "YOUR ITEM HAS BEEN CANCELED" contained this information:
Be assured that if you paid by credit card, it has not been charged, and any other method of payment has been credited. If you used a Gift Card for this order and no longer have it, please call the number below and we'll send you a replacement.
If you have any questions about your order or need further assistance — or if you'd like help finding a similar item — please contact us at
    1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289).
Once again, we're sorry for this inconvenience, and are working hard to serve you better in the future.
    Sincerely,
    Karalyn Sartor
    Vice President Customer Care
Well, lets just start wih Karalyn did not answer my call or attempted to help.
My gift card was immeditely re-credited, however it has been a different story for the other method of payment. My certificates which were accumulated through purchases totaling over $500 dollars, never regenerated (i've called 3 separate times about when are they going back to my points bank and responses range from 24hr to 45days) it's now Wednesday this happen last Friday. The cancelation email stated my credit card would not be charged, but Best Buy did something worse they placed a hold on my card for this order that wasn't fulfilled and actually canceled by Best Buy employees at the store(553) due to not in stock (as stated in cancelation email).
The transaction was completed online because it indicated stock was available and the, "Thank you for your order" email implied that ownership was mine. I don't understand why Best Buy placed a hold on my card, if the transaction was manually checked and canceled? What makes it worse there was no attempt to contact me to substitute canceled order or give me a definitive reason why it was canceled. In fact, my reward certificates that I accumulated over some time were gone due to this cancelled order and no definitive answer has been given to when they will show back on my account. I was told Friday the hold would release in 3-5 days and it "should" drop, but it now Wednesday. I would understand if this was a return transaction and I have to wait for my funds to be available again, but I had no possession of item and it the transaction didn't go through why is Best BUy holding my money hostage? I'm not in the business of lending out money, and I needed those funds to actually acquire what I attempted to in my order. I shouldn't have to wait on my money, I feel like I'm being bullied and down right punished.
So, now it gets worse for me because. I called I-800 for Elite Plus reward members ( been a member since it was Premier Silver) to make sure stock was available on a similar item (at full price), and asked about the points, I lost and how I would be able to apply them to my purchase. The rep adjusted the price to accommodate my transaction and said that the points would be still go back on my account in 24 hrs. This new order was finalized on the same day as original order Friday 09/05/2014.
Well, I checked my bank account Monday , and was surprised to see the original cancelled order was still there, as well as two identical transaction that I'm assuming represented my new order. I was patient and waited till Tuesday to check again, and hoped that all mistaken holds would drop, but I was wrong. Instead, now a hold actually posted as a completely different amount (lower) with the new order number associated to it, and the other amount(what I expected) is also there plus the original transaction amount. Who gave Best By create a third order without my consent? Why did Best Buy assume I had money to lend their cooperation? Why did Best Buy assume that my funds were at their disposal and authorized their own transaction? How dos Best Buy not consider unapproved transactions could overdraft my account? I called and asked, but no answer could be given to why that happen except that the rep charged me twice, and thats why theres two holds, but then that doesn't explain why one of those holds post at a cheaper price with my new order number on it. This is crazy, there is no reason why a third order should have been created because I didn't approve it. This has been too many days without my money, and these holds total a little pass $300.00 dollars (not chump change).
Yesterday (09/09/14) I contacted my bank to find a solution to these unwarranted charges, and the only way to expedite and release my funds would be in a from of a letter from best buy on their letter head to be faxed to 18663097443 with the transaction amounts, card number, my name, date of transaction, signed by a manager, and a statement informing the bank that Best Buy would not collect on those charges. The other solution was to dispute the charge that posted because that amount was not contracted to be fulfilled under the agreement of the order form.
So, I called Best Buy again. Well, after over an hour on the phone and the rep spoke to her superiors which declined the request, so I asked for the case number, but the rep told me that after during the conversation her computer crashed and no number could be given. So, I asked for some type of compensation for this crazy ordeal and for the financial position it put me in by creating a new order and holding funds from a canceled order. Well, she said my situation didn't correspond to reasons that warranted compensation, not even a coupon. I thought what happen to customer service as being a reason? The Best Buy rep did seem to empathize with my situation, and asked again for that authorization letter, and she said she got it approved; this was around 5pm yesterday. She then even said she was able to generate a case number with this approval (case number 144087240).
Guess what Best Buy community its now Wednesday, and the holds are all there no communication was sent to the resolution department on the behalf of Best buy and I'm still out $300. plus dollars since Friday. Normally banks charge interest on loans, what will Best Buy do for me now that I have stolen my money? I never gave consent to create a third order, which now I will have to dispute and report to the Better Business Bureau. The most unbelieveble part of this mess is that the item in my original order that satrted all this is still up on the Best Buy page. An employee supoosley checked and made the determination that the item is out of stock, but its still on the webpage to trap another customer in lending Best Buy capital to fund their organization. I would clike to challenage any employee to attempt to but this item and see what happens to their funds. I mean, come on Best Buy if you don't pay the employee to trap people, then have them remove the item off the website where people are becoming victims to this money pit. Here is the link go for it and see what happens to you Karalyn Sartor, Vice President Customer Care.

I shop at Best Buy so much I held the silver Premier status since it was introduced, and every year the amount of how much you spend gets raised as benefits get removed, I've been able to surpass that threshold to maintain Elite Plus status since it too has been created topping almost $5000.00 this year alone, and we haven't hit Christmas yet. This experience is something to consider next time I think about going to Best Buy.

    Good afternoon robertocar78,
After reading through your detailed post, I can fully understand why you would be frustrated with this experience. First off, stores should ensure that their clearance and open-box items listed on BestBuy.com are up-to-date to prevent such experiences as yours. Secondly, to have such an amount of funds unavailable would be quite worrisome, and I hope that I can bring some light to your particular situation.
Using the email address you registered with the forum, I was able to locate your cancelled order as well as the replaced order. Typically when an order is placed, the funds are immediately authorized to ensure the funds are available. While this authorization may make the funds unavailable, the funds have not actually been collected.
Once an order ships, the funds will be collected at that time. Should there be more than one item on an order, if the items ship separately or at different times, you may be charged for the individual items. That being said, you could see multiple smaller charges for one order that together make up the order total. If an order is cancelled, the authorization should be dropped on our end. However, this may take 3-5 business days to reflect on your end, depending on your financial institution’s processing times.
I was able to see that you have been working extensively with Todd on our Consumer Relations team in regards to your situation.
