Far fewer print settings in this version?

In the previous iPhoto, I was easily able to select different printing layouts that would print a bunch of photos on a single page in such a way that they were laid out nicely, filling the available space and all the right way up.
Can't seem to find this in iPhoto '08.

  • Photoshop CS6 - 64bit Edition wont hold print settings but 32bit version will.

Hello all, I really hope somebody can help me with this issue.
I work in an educational establishment and we have both 32 and 64bit versions of Photoshop CS6 (Predominately 64x) and for some reason when you go to print and change paper size, scaling e.t.c when you hit 'Ok' it reverts back to the default which is "Paper Size - Letter" e.t.c. Meaning I have to transfer it into another program - like save it as a PDF and print it through that in order to print on larger paper sizes and scaling options. Strangely the 32x edition doesn't have this problem.
I've been through settings, attempted reinstall. Even going through the settings of the 32x and making sure everything is identical to the 64x set up.
Please tell me I'm missing something simple here because this has become a real melon scratcher for me.
    Any Help is Appreciated.

    (Finchy911)

    Apologies.
    System info:
    Windows 7 Enterprise 64Bit Edition - Intel I7 (3.40Ghz) - 16Gb RAM - Nvidea Gforce GTX 660
Windows 8 Enterprise 64Bit Edition - (Specs same as above)
    Printers used/problem observed on:
HP Designjet t7100 using driver as follows
    Driver Name: PrintQueue.inf
    Class Guid: {1ED2BBF9-11F0-4084-B21F-AD83A8E6DCDC}
    Driver Date: 06/21/2006
    Driver Version: 6.3.9600.16384
This would be the printer we most observe the problem on as its a large format printer and Photoshop wont allow us to print in anything above 'Letter'.
The Printer is a networked printer that is hosted on our Windows 2008 Server R2 and shared to the rest of the PCs in our organization through that server.
As previously mentioned the 32bit edition of Photoshop doesn't appear to have any issues printing with custom settings but the 64bit edition ALWAYS reverts back to default Paper size and scaling.
Once again apologies for the lack of information.

  • I am not able to select a new network printer just installed at work to print to from Firefox. I have tried to reset the printer settings, but this did not work. Do I need to map Firefox to this new printer?

We recently had a new printer installed at work that has been set as the Default printer on my computer. When I go to print something from Firefox, I am not able to select the new printer from the printer window in the print box. The new printer does not show up

From another computer, go to http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/, click "Free download" button, click "Save File" button, select your flash drive in "Save as" window. "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" file will be saved in your flash drive.
You just need to insert it in your new computer and double-click on "Firefox Setup 3.6.13.exe" from Windows Explorer and follow instructions.

  • Can you save print settings with a PDF?

I have an 8.5"x14" PDF. Is there anyway to save default print settings with this PDF so if a user opens it on their machine it defaults to printing to 8.5"x14" paper? Right now it always defaults to the standard 8.5"x11". I'm not sure this can be done because it seems like more of a specific users machine thing. I don't think you can save print settings with a PDF can you?
    Thanks!

The "auto-formatting" of a hardcopy print format is generally the realm of the output device, in this case the printer. Printer software gereally includes an auto-format feature that selects the proper bin. For those who only have a "letter" tray, it usually asks to feed the right format manually, or switch trays. This is not a PDF feature but an output device feature.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I get Acrobat to save my recent print settings?

    Hi there,
    Setup:
    Mac OSX 10.7.3
    Acrobat X 10.1.2
Having recently upgraded to the most recent Acrobat pro I seem unable to save my most recent print settings. Previosuly, when I setup a page to be, for example, A2 landscape with some specific printer settings, it would then present these same settings when I went to print the same document or another open document. Now, in 10, I can setup the page settings and print settings, print a document, and then when I try and print again it has defaulted to the default page setup (A4 portrait) and default print settings.
This is SO infuriating that I am hoping it is a bug (fixable?) and not just a massive failure of the software.
    Thanks for any advice/help.

I'm not sure (since I always print to the same size), but try this:
Click the Page Setup button at the bottom of the dialog. Ignore the warning screen. Set up the Page Setup in Mac OS X the way you like. At the top, choose Settings and select Save as Default. Then click OK.
Click the Printer button at the bottom of the dialog. Ignore the warning screen. Set up the Print settings in the way you like using the popup menu which initially shows Layout. Then choose Presets > Save Current Settings as Preset. Then click OK.

  • No Print Settings for Epson printer

I have an Epson 1400, and it was working fine this morning. I usually go to Print Settings to select my glossy paper. But just now, when I went to print, and tried to click the Print settings... button, nothing happens. I have tried using Software Update and installed the latest Epson Printer Software, and tested several other applications, and the printer is connected and working fine in those.
This is PS 12.1 for Mac.
    Thanks

Well, looks like I'm dumb. I misread Solution 1. It suggested that I Choose Printer Manages Color,  return to Photoshop Manages Color, and then choose Print Settings. This worked perfectly after I realized it meant PS couldn't use the printer to manage color in the case of my printer.
    Anyway, you saved my you-know-what!
    Thanks again,
    J.

  • The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop

    Hello,
I hope somebody can help us. I am a IT Technician in a school, we have approx 500 Windows 7 64bit machines with about 600/700 users - 200 machines have the CS5.5 Master Collection installed on them. We have an intermittent issue with printing from Photoshop (both the 32bit and 64bit versions). Our printers are mostly HP LaserJet printers (all modern), but we have an Epson B-510DN Inkjet and some Xerox copiers too. The drivers are all installed on a central print server running Server 2008 R2 and shared via Group Policy to client machines.
In rooms where Photoshop is installed, intermittently when a student goes to print we will recieve the following error:
The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing.
Photoshop will then grey out the 'Print' button and won't let the user print again. The odd thing is that we can still print from other software such as Microsoft Word or even non Microsoft software - even Illustrator will print. It just seems to be Photoshop thats has any issues.
This happens when printing to any printer on site, 90% of which are HP's. As a general rule we configure all of our HP printers with HP's PCL6 Universal Print Driver as it makes management of various printer models easy, and we haven't found it to limit us atall yet. We are aware the Adobe software is 'preferential' to Postscript drivers but our printers arn't, being HP's PCL is their native language. We have tried changing a printer to the Postscript UPD driver to test it but it made no improvement. We have also seen the issue quite indepth with our Epson B-510DN which is configured with Epson's latest model specific driver as our photography department use it. Since we are seeing it with different printers I don't believe the printer drivers are to blame - unless somebody want's to prove me wrong.
Like I say the problem is intermittent, and we are having trouble tracing it down to a user, computer or a software problem as it is so intermittent. Has anybody else seen this and managed to overcome it? Since it's only happening in Photoshop is it a bug that Adobe have recognosed and fixed in CS6? The only workaround we have found for it is to go into printers, chnage the defualt printer from one to another and back again - this seems to shut Photoshop up.
    Thanks, Dave.

    Chris,
Apologies for my slow reply - we have been busy here the past few weeks.
We are using a standard Microsoft provided JPG image (Tulips.jpg) so we have ruled out it being an issue with the image; perhaps if we were using a PSD, maybe so.
We have now found out what the issue is, and what the workaround for this bug is. All of our printers across our site are named in a specific format, usually [Location name] [Room number] [Mono or Colour] resulting in printer names such as Photography A11 Colour, Art A2B Colour and Design Technology A14 Colour. All of these names contain numbers. We have tried reimaging machines, reinstalling Photoshop, upgrading to CS6, deleting and reconfiguring printers with the same name. Finally the only solution that worked was to take the numbers out of the name, either by renaming or deleting and reconfiguring the printers. The Photography printer is an Epson B-510DN using a model specific driver and the other two use the HP PCL6 UPD driver, so I don't believe the drivers are to blame and since renaming the printers work I don't believe it's a configuration issue either. Remember that these printers are shared from a print server and deployed via Group Policy (using the Print Management method).
I hope this provides you Chris, and others searching Google, a useful explanation of the problem and what the fix is. As much as Adobe won't admit it's a problem/bug, I and many others across the internet believe that it is and that it should be fixed in future versions of Photoshop.
    Thanks, Dave.

  • When I make a Book in Aperture and print a PDF proof version, all the modified photos (marked with Badges) are totally distorted.  What is causing this? All other - non-modified photos - appear to be fine.

When I make a Book using Aperture 3 and print a PDF proof version, all images that have been modified within Aperture are distorted in PDF form.  All other images appear ok.

As if only the corrected layer would have remained on the photos.
So the geometry of the pictures is correct - they are not skewed or something? Only the colors and intensities are wrong?
. Only in printing when it is converted to PDF file some photos are unrecognizable.
Is it the printed pdf or the pdf viewed on the screen? If it is the printed copy you need to fix your print settings.
Does Aperture give a warning, that the high resolution images are not available?
We had some cases of books not being able to be printed, and that was due to a broken reference to the original files. Only the book could not access the originals, all other parts of Aperture could. To check for this, try to add one more adjustment to one of the images in question. Is it possible? Are the edits reflected correctly in the pdf of the book?
We were shooting with 3 cameras, Lumix5 shooting RAW, Cannon 100 shooting JPEG and SONY alfa850 shooting RAW.
Have you tried to reprocess the raw of the edited images? (Photos > Reprocess Raw)
Also try, to remove one of the images from the book and to add it again. That usually helps, if Aperture has lost the connection to the originals used in the book.
If you no have done so already, repair (and if necessary rebuild) the Aperture library.
See: Repairing and Rebuilding Your Aperture Library: Aperture 3 User Manual

  • Photoshop CS5. Saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop

I am hoping someone has experienced this problem. I am working at a clients
office which has a large Konica Printer. When I first started using Photoshop at this office I
could print directly from PS to thier printers. Then a printer driver change or something I cannot pinpoint changed and I began getting the Error Message: The saved printer information is not compatible with this version of Photoshop, or the saved printer is no longer available. You will need to check your printer settings before printing. I click OK and the second Error Message appears: There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a priner and reopened any documents. The radio button has the single response word "Cancel". After clicking that button the printing is grayed out and until I go into Color Settings and change the setting drop down box to something else, close PS and reopen the, or any file and the same thing occurs. Ihad the IT department down here and after an hour he clicked on settings and tinkered around until all of a sudden the printing was enabled. It worked until the printer driver was updated. Once again the IT guy was down here and didn't remember what he did, tinkered around and after changing the color settings to: Monitor Color, it printed. Here we go again, printer settings were randomly changed so we reinstalled the printer driver and again PS is not printing.
Is there anyone who has experienced this issue who can help me make sense of this insanity. Is there a sequence of setting changes, opening of the program and file that is allowing the color management to stop interferring with my printing other than Gremlins in this machine? I have not found anything Googling on this issue. Please help me . . . Annette

I don't think I have an answer for you about exactly what went wrong, but one thing that can help with understanding the messages (and maybe can help you and your IT people figure it out) is this:
Photoshop saves the information about the last printer the document was printed to as metadata in the document file.  So if you make a print then save the PSD, the printer info is in the PSD.
If recently you opened an image that had previously been printed at another place (and which didn't have an exact match to the printer available in your current location), then you can start to imagine these error messages making a bit more sense.  Things like "The saved printer information" begin to have meaning.
    Hope this helps.

    Hello Josh,
We are using a couple of EFI (Fiery) controllers with our Canon copiers and I have been told by Canon support that we need to be using the MacTel (Universal Binary) versions of drivers for Leopard. Luckily for us we have mostly new models of RIPs and the UB drivers exist for these models, but I know that they are not available for all models, which I believe includes your X3e.
To determine if you have a driver or RIP issue, you could save the file as either PS or PDF and then use the EFI utilities, such as Command Workstation, to import the file to the RIP (select Process and Hold) and then see if you can print your multiple copies that way. If that works then you know that the RIP is probably okay.
The next test would be to create a generic PS queue to the X3e and print using this queue. If this works then you can narrow your issue down to the driver.
