I have been working on the new premiere cc and the color correction effect is very slow when I make color adjustments on the wheel anyone else having this issue???

I have noticed some response lag with the Effect Controls panel in comparison to CS6 on the same machine.

  • Premiere pro can't fast color correct and deinterlace on GPU

I recently posted saying that Premiere Pro could not succcessfully deinterlace a timeline that had footage with different field orders. Since then, I have done some more tests and have realised that the actual issue is that Premiere pro can not deinterlace footage that has a fast color correct effect on it. I replicated the same scenario on other footage and another machine with a different GPU and the same issue exists. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can fix this or am i going to have  to export an intermediate for each step? Cheers

    OK.
Next try checking Maximum Render Quality.  (It'll force some things back to the CPU, including scaling and deinterlacing.)

  • Key frames effect controls and Fast color correction

I just learned about keyframes and gradual transistion of effects and i like that a lot.
Putting it in practice using the Fast color correction feature ; I seemed to miss the key navigation bar (I hoped to find it on the right side of the Fast Color corrector title line or ??? in the effects control panel)
I guess I'm looking at the wrong end of the world, or do keyframes not exist for fast color correction, I seem to notice the keyframe navigation for time Remapping and opacity..... where did I lose the keyframe navigation bar for fast color correction ???
Pro CSS3 on windows XP fully patched
hoping very hard I'm just looking at the wrong side of the world
    please give me a hint.

You will find links to many
free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro, including how keyframes work.

  • Fast color correction in premiere pro

Hi, I'm having a problem using Fast color correction with two different clips which show the same picture and are of different colors. here are the frames:
This is the correct color; checking the white balance it's perfectly white when check with the front of the raft. Perhaps the saturation should be slightly modified but over all this is exactly what you see when arriving at Red Cavern (the name speaks for itself) on the Colorado.
Here is the same shot taken at the same hour by a friend of mine who gave me some of his footage; everything is either white, pink or grey even the yellow raft on the left has not its true pure yellow which it is in reality:
Although taken at 20 years interval, the shots were done most probably at the same hour. The only difference being a more important set of trees due essentially to the level of water higher on my trip in 1995 than 2 years ago on my friend's one. The beach on the right side of mine being under water or having formed later. Of course the second shot is done with a digital camcorder which did not exist 20 years earlier.
As one can see the reds are washed out  and do not correspond to reality. The footage is taken at the Red Cavern on the Colorado
The problem is to correct the second footage to get the same reds as both footage cross dissolve from one to the other and that I  wish of course to be nearer as possible of the true colors. I can't check the white balance using Fast color correction on the second footage because there is no pure white visible anywhere. The sand at the base of the cavern or on its right is not white in reality as it consists of deposits either of mud from the river or sandstone of the cavern and the redwall above. Which effect would enable me to correct the second footage to approach as much as possible to the same color of the first one. Most probably FCC is not the right effect to choose.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Claude

I think that's about as nice as you can expect ... years apart, or even just hours apart with sun coming in a different angle on the same rocks (not even depending on any reflection changes!) can oft get massive shifts in "apparent" color. Which is ... real? Either, both, neither? It's actually one of the things that makes going back & shooting in the same place over & over interesting ... it's never EXACTLY the same ... or rarely so.
Ahh, now we're almost into a discussion someone will moan about needing to be continued over on the Sg forum ... tee-hee.
From your comment about transferring clips ... are you using an EDL process? When using "Direct Link" (the "direct to SpeedGrade" command) normally all the "stuff" from the PrPro project are included. There have been the odd instances where Sg doesn't "see" something, but ... I'm curious, I've not run into this for most anything I've done "direct". Either direct or EDL can work, but it does change your work-patterns a ton depending on which you choose.
SpeedGrade is an amazing tool ... and is designed to give a very good basic correction and then allow one to step off the deep-end into stylin' your shots. Especially with the large collection of "legacy" clips you've got from your friend, that seem to be of a similar "look", you can correct those for basics (WB, dynamic range, blacks & whites, hue shifts) using a Primary or two or three and then a Secondary for the hue-shifts. Then save that as a "Look" and anytime you run more of those clips, you can just in a couple clicks throw that Look over top of them and have all your previous work on that footage done bang. Slick as all get out, and I think you'll love that part of it.
Just a bit on my process that has come about since going so heavily into DL ... it used to be enough "work" to export an EDL, load things into Sg, then export out to re-import back into PrPro that like most I did pretty much to edit-lock & then to Sg. That is pretty much History ... it's so fast that when I start putting together a sequence for a new project I'll just throw a number of clips onto the timeline ... DL to Sg, do a Basic grade on them (especially if there's significant skin as I've got a GH3 and it naturally makes skin un-natural so I've a Look to recover skin-looking skin) and go back to PrPro. Now as I'm editing I've got a feel for how good a visual I'll get off that group of clips. Mostly finish my editing, with maybe an occasional minute or two over in Sg (quite literallly) doing something like making something a Master Clip so the other bits of that one get the same grade automatically). Before doing the final export out of PrPro I'll go to Sg and do the rest of the "style" work.
Then back in PrPro thow on my titles & such, pop in any fixed audio from Audition, & out it goes.
I do use some "adjustment layers" added to sequences in PrPro simply to use for additional grading layers to utilize in Sg over groups of clips or occasionally one if I'm doing enough I want to put it "up" on a different layer. Not always ... but sometimes.
Pretty slick for the most part.

  • Color pattern matching is very slow

    Hi
I tried this code creating one vi application.
After the testing with USB webcam I have realized that the color pattern matching is very slow. How to increase the speed and to work smoothly in real time.
    Thank you

    Hello tiho,
the color pattern matching is not as fast as 8-bit matching, but should still be fast.
For example, I am attaching a VI for color pattern matching where you load the image, create the template and search do the matching.
In my example I tried color pattern matching on color image of size 4288x2848 pixels and the matching is performed in ~140 ms (~7Hz). So, for a smaller image, I think the real-time processing is quite achievable (I consider real-time 20 Hz or more). The only problem is the template learning, which in my case takes around 10 seconds. But you should learn the template only once in the initialization stage.
    Best regards,

  • Color correction/effects when working with long clips

    Hi,
    First time poster!
I'm a beginner with Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5. I'm using it right now to do some color correction on badly produced DVD's in my film collection! I was wondering if it is possible when doing color correction effects on a clip if you can apply different effects to different parts of a clip. For example - At the beginning of a clip, the scene is really bright, but, some 30 minutes later, the clip is really dark. Is it possible to darken the beginning and lighten the ending? How would you folks deal with a situation like this? Would you edit the film down to smaller parts? If so, how would you go about that?
    Thanks for the help!
    Howard

    Howard,
    Welcome to the forum.
Along with Jon-M-Spear's suggestion (the one that I use most often too), many Effects can be Keyframed, so that they change over time. However, this does take some time, and can involve a lot of fiddling.
If you have a long Clip, and know that you will be adding the same set of Effects, but just with different attributes, you can do one of two things, and both rely on Jon-M's method:
You can create an Effect Preset, and apply that to all of your Cut, let's call them "sub-Clips," even though that term has other meanings, so be careful when using it. Then apply that Preset to all of those sub-Clips. Then, tweak each application of the Preset, as is needed for the individual sub-Clip.
In a similar fashion, you can apply all necessary Effects to the first of your sub-Clips, tweak for it, as is necessary, then Rt-Click on it, chosing Copy. Now, Select all of the rest of the sub-Clips, to which you wish to apply that set of Effects, Rt-Click on them, choosing Paste Attributes, and then tweak, as needed.
A variation on the above would be to apply the Effects to the origianal Clip, and THEN make the Cuts. Go back and tweak each individual sub-Clip.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Clip degradation with color correction effects added

    Hello,
I've had this issue lately where I can't push any of my clips past 2 or 3% increase on any color correction effect without huge amounts of color noise, artifacts and other degredation.  Adding a simple HSL adustment and bumping up the saturation to 10 makes my image look like an 8-bit picture.  I attached two examples, one at 4% and the other at 40%.  You can see the color noise in the highlights and shadows and the overall noise in the image.
I opened the same clip in Media Composer 7 and was able to push the saturation to 100 without any noise.  It's almost like PP is using some low bit color space or something.  Any ideas on how to fix this or is it a bug in the program?

    at 30%-

Thanks Jim, here is a download link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sqd71rt0kw9w4jo/DSC_6373.MOV
I've noticed it only happens when using the Color Balance HLS effect.  If I use a Three-Way Color Corrector to adjust saturation, I get no noticeable noise.  So that is my work around.  But I'm curious if you get the same results.

  • Color Correction Effect Controls Not Showing Controls

The recent upgrade seemed to work flawlessly until I tried to go back to some color correction I had started earlier.  In some cases, when I click on the Video Effects tab in the Color Correction workspace, my controls are there and working.  For others, when I click on the Video Effects tab, there's simply nothing there.  I have dragged effects back onto the clip and then gone back to the Effects tab, and still see nothing.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Any thoughts?

I have the same problem. I've tried removing all effects, adding more effects etc, but in the Effect Controls window all I get is the name of the clip highlighted in blue. I've also gone to Window and selected Effect Controls, but all this does is reveal or hide the Effect Controls tab.  The Motion, Opacity etc controls are not there when I click on the tab. Anyone have any ideas how to get the Effect Controls back?

  • Color Correction Effect: "Change color to" change more that one color in the same clip(pp Cs4)

Hi all, I have watched and tried some tutorial to achieve this. My question though is how to change more than one color in the same clip. I'm asking because when I tried I had no problem to "color pick" one shade of my (Rock face) and turned it into a natural color picked from a good clip. But I was left with all the other shades to work on and if I repeated the procedure (pick the next destination color to replace) it cancelled my previous change so it seems that I can change only one color... I must be doing something wrong.

Wow! I did play a few other Youtube 3 color correction, but this one is so good and comprehensive. I did also like RGB curves tutorial. I don't know if all this is appropriate for my 1983 VHS clip nearly all green (I probably had the wrong white balance). What I achieved so far is not very good but I think much more watchable than all green! Than You again  for this . I do also realise these guys are expert and still they have to use lot trials and errors and various techniques before getting what they want. I do appreciate their generosity to make some of their knowledge available to all of us.

  • How to keyframe color-correction effects.

I have seen the odd question bemoaning the inability of FCP X to keyframe color-corrections but as I have no interest in doing such things I have paid no attention.
However, I discovered in a Ken Stone article that color corrections can be keyframed using a free filter from Ripple Training.
The RT tutorial and a link to the filter can be found here:-
    http://www.rippletraining.com/using-the-rt-color-balance-effect-in-final-cut-pro -x.html
Apologies if almost everyone else already knows this, but I am sure there will be somebody (like me) who doesn't.
The original Ken Stone article on all types of FCP X keyframing is here:-
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/fcp_x_keyframing_effects_stone.html

One way to 'keyframe' colour correction with FCP X is to add the clip to the storyline, then move the playhead back to the beginning of that clip and use 'Q' in the Event Browser to add the same clip again as a connected clip, above the original.
Colour correct one of the clips, then keyframe the opacity of one of them to effect the change you want.

  • Color Correction effects & Mac OS Lion

I'm a switcher from FCP to PrPro.  I'm on a Mac pro running Mac OS 10.7.1 and Premiere Pro 5.5.1.
When I try to use the Three Way or Fast color corrector, moving the sliders doesn't show/update on the program monitor.  When I drag on the color wheels, it take a second or two for the program monitor to reflect the change.  (This kind of operation was instant in FCP)  Also, the eyedropper tools don't work at all.
    Is this just me?
Is Adobe working on a fix?
    Thanks
    BTW, I don't have a supported GPU.

It's not just you, it's the Lion OS.
And yes, Adobe is working on a fix.

  • Removing fast color correction

While removing color correction from a clip. I notice a gray like box image in the center of my screen. How do remove this before exporting file/media?

    Hi DCb,
Have you tried deleting media cache files? Find them in Preferences > Media > Media Cache Files
    See if that helps.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • Mercury Engine in After Effects CS5.5? Or, why is After Effects so much slower the Premiere Pro?

    Take this quote :
"by Todd Kopriva on Apr 25, 2010 at 8:08:14 am
'Mercury' is a marketing name for these performance improvements in Premiere Pro: - multiprocessing
    - multithreading
    - 64-bit application
    - use of CUDA to to some processing on supported hardware
The first three of these are in After Effects CS5. (The first two have been in After Effects for much longer.)"
However, if I drop my Canon 5D Mark II footage (h264) into Premiere Pro it plays back SO MUCH better then the exact same footage in After Effects. Why is that? I DO NOT have an NVideo card and I have NOT applied any effects or scaling to the clip, just raw footage dropped into each program.
I do notice that After Effects has to render to play back (green bar being generated above footage). But it does slow very slowly, like 9fps. Premier Pro seems to cruise right along at near realtime. This is 24fps 1080p footage. One other point of interest, I have encoded the clip into Cineform codec as well. On Premier Pro I can tell a difference, the cineform scrubs a lot smoother then the original H264 clip. But, again, in After effects both the h264 and Cineform clips are very slow to render and scrub.
Any improvements along these lines for CS5.5?
Am I just missing something obvious?
    Thanks for any info,

I think the problem is that hitting the space bar and hitting '0' (ram preview) both draw that green bar, and both seem to use it if it is already there. I guess the real difference is how that green bar gets generated. It does seem to get generated faster when I ram preview as opposed to hitting the space bar. Using both cores I have I guess (early 2009 24" iMac).
When you hit the space bar, AE TRIES to play back as it renders each frame.  Imagine what happens if it's a comp with 120 3D layers that all accept lights and cast shadows.  That's why you don't use the space bar.
In a RAM Preview, AE fills up the memory available to it with rendered frames, then plays them back from RAM.  Depending on processor speed, dimensions of comp & frame rate, this may or may not be real time, but there are ways to get real time.  With the space bar, you don't stand a chance at real time.

From what I hear new iMacs are due out soon with the new Thunderbolt (!) and Sandy Bridge processors/chipsets. Should be a LOT faster then what I have now.
For AE work I'd say maybe yes, maybe no.  To make AE REALLY speedy, you need a lot of processor cores and a boatload of RAM.  iMacs aren't known for either of those things.

  • Dragging clips to bins is very slow in Premiere CS6

I just upgraded to Premiere CS6 from CS 5.5 (no thank you, CC) and have problems with very slow speed when dragging clips from one bin to another in the Project panel. Here are the specifics:
I have about 1500 clips in a bin that I'm sorting through in the Project panel, putting clips into other bins as I classify them. If I have the 1500 clips sorted by the Name field, there's no delay as I move a clip or clips from the big bin to one of the smaller bins. If, however, I sort the 1500 clips by Media File Path in the Project panel (which puts the clips in chronological order because the file names reflect date and time), then doing the same work results in an 8-second delay every time I try to move a clip between bins.
I get the 8-second delay each and every time I drag a clip between bins. It occurs whether I select a single clip to drag or drag multiple clips. As soon as I sort in the panel by Name field instead of the Media File Path field, dragging has no delay.
I have no such trouble with delays in CS5.5, so I'm at a loss. I need to have the bin sorted by Media File Path, because I need them in chronological order as I evaluate them. But an 8-second delay each time I move a clip bogs me down so much it's impractical to get any sorting done.
I suspect this is a bug. I've upgraded to CS6.05, but that didn't fix it. Does anyone have a workaround?
    Thanks,
    Mike Boom

A good suggestion. I did try that earlier, but alas, no luck.
Sorting works across all bins in the Project panel, so once you sort on the Media File Path, drags are slow from all bins, even if you segment into bins as small as two clips.
Premiere is doing something bad with sorts after CS5.5. Looks like Adobe fell down on regression testing for the updated version. Then again, it's got to be hard to regression test as many features as Premiere has.
