Fast Data Transfer over Internet

Hello friends:
i need your help to transfer Data.
i have few servers and some of them are really stuffed with huge amount of data on them.
i want to move my data to other servers.
i dont have a telnet access and more ever i dont want to remain connnected till the time the task is over.
can you recommend a faster way of Data transfer over internet.
awaiting your reply.
regards

Why don't you dump the data to a tape, send the tape to the other server, and reload it there? That can be faster than sending the data over the network if it's large.

    m1doc,
Are you migrating from a Mac or a MS Window machine? Either way you probably should be in touch with AppleCare, you have 90 days of free AppleCare telephone support. They can usually help on issues like this. If you don't know the phone number please use http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57 to help find the number in your country.

  • Very slow network directory listing - but fast data transfer speed once listed?

    Hello,
I have really tried to sort this myself before opening up to the community, however I have run out of ideas, and hope someone can offer the magic solution I have missed.
I am currently using the 3.4ghz i7 iMac on a 1GB LAN, running OSX10.7.2 - connecting to a Windows Server 2008 (Running Release 2) over ethernet.
If i go to a network directory that i haven't recently accessed it can take up to 60 seconds to show the contents of that directory. Once i have accessed that folder, if i come out of it and go back in it will be instant again - but the first time it lists the directory it looks like i have opened an empty folder - which after anything from 10seconds to 1 minute will suddenly show the files that are there.
Internet connectivity is fast through the network, and file transfers across the LAN are fast. (showing as approx 300mb per second) I can play and edit HD content across the network with no slowdown so I am confident that this issue is not related to the network speed itself, and is more to do with a setting on this mac.
Symptoms are very similar to this post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/12245148?messageID=12245148&amp%3b#1224514 8 - however i understand that in OSX Lion - SMB was removed - so i cannot find this file to edit.
I have tried bypassing additional hubs in the network by wiring direct cables to the switch that is connected to the file server, this made no difference.
I have also tried disconnecting the ethernet cable, and running over wifi. This fixes the listing problem, but when editing HD content over a network drive, this connection is not fast enough to carry the data without interruption (some projects are linked to up to 900gb of hd video content!)
Using ethernet, I have tried DHCP, DHCP with manual address, and manual mode. All reproduce this problem. i have tried using the windows workgroup, and tried without it.
I have also followed this suggestion: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2134936?threadID=2134936&tstart=45 and used OpenDNS. this did not fix the issue.
For argument sake, I have also just tested a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard to see if it was OS related. This reproduces the exact same problem, near instant directory listing on the wifi, a long and arduous wait on ethernet.
I cannot work out why directory listing is instant over wifi, but not over ethernet on 2 different macs, running 2 different versions of OSX. I also do not understand why if the network is having trouble listing the directories - the data transfer speed is 300mbps when i copy files across the wired network from the file server to the mac.
Does anyone have any other ideas as to what could be the problem here? We are about to start work on a very large project, where the content we are editing is spread out across around 200 different network folders (different shoots captured over the past 2 years). We really don't have the time to wait 60 seconds each time we need to access one of those directories to look for a file, and I am very close to pulling all my hair out!
I really look forward to hearing from anyone who can offer any insight.

If you are suspecting that the Windows update had something to do with your LAN going slow, then try the following:
    1.  Look for updates for your clients LAN NIC driver; or
    2.  Un-install the updates.

  • Fast Data Transfer

I want to make an online multiplayer pong game. I want the
user to be able to play against a different user on a different
network. How could I transfer the data of one player to the other?
When one player moves his paddle left, I need somehow to let the
other user's computer know that pretty fast so they have the same
game play. I thought about using a text file. When a player moves
left, it will write left on a text file and upload it to my server.
Then the other computer will download the text file. If it says
left, he will move the opponent left. If the text file says right
it will move the opponent right. But I think this is a very slow
process and their game will pretty much not be the same. How could
I do this so that they get the data fast?
    Thanks,
    Dor

I did, but the public newsservers don't seem to relay answers
    back to
Macromedia's newsserver, so here is the answer again:
You may want the players flash movies to do a direct IP
    communication,
so your server will only have to relay the opponents IP once.

  • Fast data transfer out of PXIe-8133?

    Hi,
What is the fastest way to transfer data out from the PXIe-8133? I am currently using two UDP ports for the two ethernet ports with gives a theoretical transfer rate of 2Gbit/s.
How would I transfer data out from an FPGA or PXIe to a host computer faster than that?
    Cheers.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi u436,
The only faster way to transfer data to a computer would be with a x4 or x16 MXI-Express Remote Controller, which would provide up to 838 MB/s or 5.6 GB/s respectively.  These would need to be installed in place of your PXIe-8133  and be controlled by the MXI card on your PC.  Also note that the x16 MXI-Express card is not supported by all PCs; it requires full PCI Express 2.0 clocking specs.
    NI PXIe-PCIe8375:  http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/207823
    NI PXIe-PCIe8388 and NI PXIe-PCIe8389:  http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/209710
Other than that I am not aware of a faster way of exporting data to a PC(s) in real time.  Hope this helps!

  • Updated my Apple ID, will my data transfer over to my Updated ID.

I have an Iphone 5, I had to change my Apple Id from one email address to another because I do not have access to the old email address. And my ICloud account ist still under my old email address as well so it is not letting me download apps. I am scared that if i delete my Icloud account and start fresh, what i have backed up will not carry over to my new email address. I hope this is understandable.
    Thank you for your time.

Did you change the primary email address on your account, or did you create a NEW account? Content is permanently tied to the account used to purchase it. It can not be transferred to a different account.
If all you did was change the email address, then just sign out of the app store and sign back in with the new address.

  • XML Used for data transfer over web

Hello, I'm currently running oracle forms on the web. Will XML allow me to create a realtime interface that will allow me to load multiple records into my oracle database without going through an form?

    Sure.
Check out our XSQL Servlet at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/xsql_servlet
It comes with features, documentation, and demos to easily work with SQL, XML, and XSLT, including the ability to help in posting HTML Forms and posted XML documents into the database.
You can try out the demos online at:
    http://technet.oracle.com/tech/xml/demo/demo1.htm
In particular the "XML Insert Request Demo" shows a simple example of what can be done with posted XML going into your database.

  • RT - How can I make data transfer to host faster?

    Hi
I have created a program that acquires data on FPGA then transfers them to RT so RT can send them up to the windows host once UI is connected.
The program is based on message type structure as in NI's examples.
However, I have one problem the data to windows host is not transferred fast enough.
Pic1 shows the offending bit of code and FPGA.png what's hiding in the subVi.
FPGA is meant to acquire to cycles of a sine wave. In this case it approximately 40 ms of data at 25us sampling rate (40kS/s 8 channels). Later the data is sent to the host. As you can see I have a dedicated stream for data only and a different one for message passing.
If I disable the code in the case structure this loop executes in 39-40 ms, however when I start sending the data to the host the rate drops to 57-60 ms per iteration and that sooner or later leads to buffer overflow.
I have experimented with passing the acquired data to a different loop using a queue but that wasn't faster. I have also tried pipelining but that did not speed it up either. Would you have any suggestions how I could improve my transfer rates?
    Thank you.

    Hi barteklul,
There are 2 main methods of achieving fast data transfer between RT and Host PC:
    1. Using the "Shared Variables", they allow you to transfer data deterministically from
RT to Host PC, usually are used to monitor data.
Please have a look at this article:
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/370622J-01/lvrtconcepts/rt_projectvariable/
    This is the example code:
    https://decibel.ni.com/content/docs/DOC-15928
The only disadvantage of such method is that if for example RT gets data really fast
your Host PC can miss some samples.
    2. In order to receive all data from RT
(guaranteed 100% data transfer without missing any samples) "Network Streams" should be used.
It is a little bit more complex to implement, but if you want to store data to the file "Network Streams"
are strongly suggested. In addition "Network Streams" are not deterministic.
For more details about network streams please read this article:
    http://www.ni.com/white-paper/12267/en/
At the moment I see that you are using "Network Streams" to transfer data and also I can see that you have some timing on RT
which can slow down the data transfer rate. I suggest you to transfer data to Host PC as soon as it comes into the FIFO.
Also if you transfer data just to monitor it, I suggest you to try Shared Variables method.
I hope that you will this information useful!

  • Error 33172 occurred at Read & Write data transfer between two or more PF2010 controller

Hi,i need to do data transfer between two or more FP2010 controller.e.g. FP2010(A) & FP2010(B).
FP2010(A) need to transfer the measurement (from its I/O module) to FP2010(B) to do the data analysis. These data transfer should be synchronous btw two controller to prevent data lost.
From the vi used in the attachment,i encountered some problems at:
    (1) Error 33172 occurred while publishing the data. Can i create and publish data under different item name?
    (2) How to synchronies the read & write btw contorller?
All controller are communicating with each other directly without the need of a host computer to link them together
Is there any other method to do fast data transfer betwe
    en controller?

    Hi YongNei,
You were succesful in omiting enough information to make it very difficult to answer!
    Please post your example.
Please tell us what version of LV-RT you are using.
Please define what you concider "fast data transfer".
Have you concidered mapping the FP tags of FP2010(A) to FP2010(B) and vise versa?
WHat exactly has to be syncronized?
If you have something that is close to working, share that.
Well, that as far as I can go with the info you have provided. Depending on the details, what you are asking could be anything from trivial to impossible with the currently available technology. I just can't say.
It would probably be a good idea to start over with a fresh question (sorry) because not many people are going to know what a a "
PF2010" is and I can not guarentee that I will be able to get back to you personally until next week-end.

  • Difference in data transfer rates between winXP and Linux server?

    Hello all,
I am using a winXP laptop to act as my server (all usb external hard drives are connected to it) but the data transfer rates can be really slow. Is Linux faster in that regard? Can a Linux based server provide faster data transfer rates?
    Thanks for any help.
    Bmora96

Linux cannot make hardware go any faster - so if WinXP and its drivers are making optimal use of those USB drives and the USB data transfer pipe, Linux will not make it faster. (but installing Linux and going Tux are always excellent ideas that need no real reason either ;-) )
Real question you should be asking is if using a notebook in a server role is wise thing to do?

  • Help me find ghost files after botched data transfer

I just bought a new MacBook. While setting up the OS upon first boot, I hooked up my old machine (which had a dead LCD, hence the new machine) for the data transfer. Well, after a solid hour+ of data transfer over firewire, there was an error, after which the old machine didn't seem to be a valid source of data transfer for the OS.
So I boot up the new machine and none of my files appear to have transferred. Ok, I can transfer important things by hand, so it's no problem. I boot the old machine holding down T and it appears as a mounted volume, from which I copy my files.
Here's the issue: that first, failed attempt to transfer files left "ghost" files somewhere eating up my HD space. Ie, if I sum up the size of all my files and folders in the / directory, they add up to around 60 Gb, which seems reasonable given all my music and such. But if I look at my main partition volume in Disk Utility, it claims I'm using a full on 179 Gb, which is totally unreasonable.
So there's around 120 Gb of "ghost" usage laying around. How do I track it down?

Log out and then into the newly created user account. To transfer them, choose Go to Folder from the FInder's Go menu, provide /Users/Shared/ as the path, and drag them there.

  • Turn data usage over 3G off, only use on WiFi?

    Hi,
I want to buy an iPhone here in Japan, where it's available with a Softbank White Plan, which I'm already subscribed to. The plan does not include any data transfer though, so I'd have to pay for every single byte I send and receive. For this reason I want to know if it's possible to turn off any kind of data usage on the iPhone, unless it's connected to a WiFi network. I know this is slightly beside the point of the iPhone, but would be perfectly acceptable for me, as I'm usually around some hotspot or another.
    Chrs,
    Dav

Airplane Mode turns off all data and cell usage, but Wi-Fi can still be used while this is on. The only problem is, cell service (calling) cannot be used while this is on. You can also turn off 3G, but that still leaves data transfer over anything else on the cellular network on (in the US, it's called EDGE). Bit of a problem, because you would either have to pay for the data usage if Airplane Mode is off, or not receive calls when Airplane Mode is on. This kind of defeats the purpose of the iPhone, unless you can get an unlimited data plan.

  • Best data transfer thunderbolt USB 3 dock station

    Hi
I am crazily searching best super fast data transfer dock station? I was wondering if I could get Thunderbolt Firewie USB 3 USB 2 all together in 1 machine. Just now I saw only Belkin is going to announce it's dock station but it's really late for me. Could anyone advise me MATROX DS1 is good? Any other brand anybody know? Please response!?

I only know of the Belkin and the Matrox - and don't know if either is shipping. The Belkin looks far more attractive to me, but they only know when it will actually ship (last report I heard was 1st quarter 2013).

  • Faster ethernet data transfer time than 2ms

    Dear all,
I'm using labview 7.1 based on a standard laptop communicating with a LabVIEW real time maching running the standard real time operating system. The two machines are connected through a dedication ethernet switch  (rated to 1Gbs), and both have ethernet cards (rated at 100Mbs or greater).
The aim of my project is to have a fast distributed control scheme going. This basically means that small amounts of sensor data have to be transferred very quickly between the two machines. The aim is to then scale this to have more machines on the network.
I use a UDP data transfer method, using the standard labview UDP read and UDP write vis.
I would like to acheive a major frame rate of around 500Hz. The problem I have restricting me with this is the speed of the ethernet connection. It would appear that the vi wrtes to buffer instantaneously, but it is taking as much as 2-3ms for the data package to be sent and received by the other machine. This is a ridiculously long amount of time. I'm sending approximately 100bytes, so the time on the network should be 0.01ms. This would suggest the time delay is in the reading or writing of the data from the Ethernet card over the PCI bus to the program.
Does anyone know why its taking so long? Do the UDP read vis only check the ethernet hardware every ms? I've taken great care to ensure that this is not a synchronisation or timing problem and I am certain it is not that.
I could really do with making this data transfer quicker as it is clearly the slowest part of the control loop. If anyone has come across this before and found a solution I would be grateful to know about it. I'm really hoping that I won't have to write something low-level in C or anything like that and try and integrate it with the code I have.
    Many thanks,
    Pete

Finally found some hard numbers for data transfer rates. From this website. http://www.intellicom.se/ModbusTCP_overview.shtml
Performance from a MODBUS TCP/IP system
The performance basically depends on the network and the hardware. If you are running MODBUS® TCP/IP over the Internet, you won't get better than typical Internet response times. However, for communicating for debug and maintenance purposes, this may be perfectly adequate and save you from having to catch a plane or go to site on a Sunday morning!
For a high-performance Intranet with high-speed Ethernet switches to guarantee performance, the situation is completely different.
In theory MODBUS® TCP/IP carries data at up to 250/(250+70+70) or about 60% efficiency when transferring registers in bulk, and since 10 Base T Ethernet carries about 1.25 Mbytes/sec raw, the theoretical throughput is:
    1.25M / 2 * 60% = 360000 registers per second and the 100 Base T speed is 10 x greater.
This assumes that you are using devices that can service Ethernet as fast as bandwidth is available.
Practical tests carried out by Schneider Automation using a MOMENTUMTM Ethernet PLC with Ethernet I/O demonstrated that up to 4000 I/O bases could be scanned per second, each I/O base having up to 16 12-bit analog I/O or 32 discrete I/O. Four bases could be updated in one millisecond. While this is below the theoretical limit calculated above, it must be remembered that the tested device was running with a lowly 80186 CPU running at 50Mhertz with an effective computing power of 3 MIPS (compared to the 700 MIPS of a 500MHz Pentium). Also, these results are nevertheless faster than the proprietary I/O scan methods used to date.
As low-end CPU's get cheaper, Momentum-type devices will chase the theoretical limit, although they'll never reach it because the limit will be continually pushed further away with 1 Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet, etc. This is in contrast to other field-buses which are inherently stuck at one speed

  • Transfer files pier to pier over internet

How can I transfer files pier to pier over internet?

First, don't go wireless this time... try to plug both computers into your router (it will be much faster). Second, did your user accounts get transferred? Is that why you want to delete the 'new' one? If you can log into your old user account, as administrator, you can simply delete the new account by going to Users & Groups in System Preferences. But since everything didn't transfer, I'd hardwire them both and run Migration Assistant again so that all of your files, music etc., will be transferred.
Oh - and you'll need to enter your activation key for Office - for some reason, it never transfers with the activation key intact.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
