Fast download speeds but web pages slow to load

Ok,
I have just convinced my frien to move from AOL to BT and he is starting to see problems.
I asked him to run a speed test and original after he entered his number  if replied it couldn't test at this time.
This happens everytime.
I then got him to log into his home hub 3  and this is what it shows:--
ADSL Line Status
Connection Information
Line state:
Connected
Connection time:
2 days, 15:53:15
Downstream:
7.938 Mbps
Upstream:
448 Kbps
ADSL Settings
VPI/VCI:
0/38
Type:
PPPoA
Modulation:
G.992.1 Annex A
Latency type:
Interleaved
Noise margin (Down/Up):
9.4 dB / 26.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up):
23.3 dB / 11.0 dB
Output power (Down/Up):
19.9 dBm / 12.0 dBm
FEC Events (Down/Up):
5127 / 28
CRC Events (Down/Up):
23 / 10
I got him to run a Quiet Line test and you can hear a few clicks so I'm unsure of the downstream rate is correct.
I suspect its a problem on his PC but any suggestions I would be grateful

hi there is nothing wrong with his downstream
however if the clicks on the line can still be heard when checking at the test socket then that needs to be fixed first by calling BT Faults on 151 but do not mention broadband in the call

Google loads but web pages will not. Just goes back to home screen.

  • Slow internet. Web pages slow to load.

    Hello,
My mac mini is finding web pages slowly. 5-10 seconds or more to find the pages and then it will load (instantly) most of it and pause a second of or two and load the rest. Downloads are fast. Within 100kbps of advertised speed (1.5 mb dsl). My upload is also fine at about 1.0 mbps. Any ideas? The ISP gave gave me a modem and said plug it in and it worked fine for a week or two. It's been really slow the last two days.

When web pages are slow to start loading, but load pages quickly once they've started, it's usually an issue with the DNS settings. DNS is Domain Name Service, and it's the process whereby the URL you type into your web browser, such as www.yahoo.com is turned into the string of numbers the internet actually uses to locate a web page. Thus when you click on a link or type an address, before your browser can start loading the page it has to send the address to the ISP's DNS servers, which then look up the address and return the correct IP number.
This process usually happens pretty quickly, but not always.
Check that the DNS server addresses you were given by the ISP are entered correctly into the DNS Servers box of the network preference pane. If none are listed, check the ISP's settings (often found on-line in their help and support pages, or in the documentation they supplied) and enter them manually. There will typically be 2 or 3 of them, given in the form of an IP address.

  • Web pages slow to load with IE11 and the cursor/mouse is very slow to work until after page loads

Web pages are very slow to load, I hve run Norton Eraser and found no issues that would cause this

New HP Pavilion three weeks ago.  After several attempts by the 'experts' I finally got a straight answer from a tech in the Philipines yesterday, 01-29-2015.  HP and Microsoft are working to resolve the issue of slow pages and a dead cursor until the next page finally loads.  You may have discovered that Google Chrome DOES NOT have this issue.  Comments about HP would not be allowed here so I will just say, use Chrome until the issue with IE 11 is resolved.

  • Entourage Works, But Web Pages Do Not Load

I work at a school that has several MacBook's that were setup with the same disk image. One of them has stopped loading web pages (using both Firefox and Safari), but Entourage can still send and receive email without a problem (POP/SMTP). All other computers on the school network are getting online just fine. When I connected the problem MacBook to a different network the same problem arose. I have tripled checked network settings, rebooted, etc. to no avail. Any ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated.

Which changes did you make to remove MixiDJ?
You can try basic steps like these in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.
    See "Creating a profile":
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Profile_issues
If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

  • Fast download speed but very slow web browsing

    Hi all,
Ive had BT fibre optic installed as i could never watch netflix and browse on the internet at the same time on regular broadband. So when i run a speed test its showing 78mbs download with abouth 19mbs upload. However every page a go on is taking about 30seconds to open even google.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks simon

    hi
can you run the speed test again and post the screen shots. please run using ethernet cable.
http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/  after the first test run further diagnostics by entering phone number in top box.
    also run this https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
i had similar problems when first installed due to contractor refusing to move my hub upstairs so i had to run on wifi.
even though at the time i was getting 30-40mbps it seemed slower than my previous 6mbps standard broadband.

  • Web Pages Slow to Load

For the past couple of days our Internet service to the browser has been extremely slow although, when I run a speed test, our speeds are near normal. When going to a web site, it takes an extremely long time for the web site to appear, several minutes in some cases.
If I unload IPFLT at the server and put the browser on a direct connect, things are normal. Otherwise, when pointed to the BM proxy is when this happens.
Thanks for any ideas and/or suggestions on where the problem might be.
    Tim

Well, good, then I am maybe doing something correctly, since I rely on Filtcfg also, just tried to set the default filters once or twice with iManager and had to go in through Filtcfg to clear them. Right now I just checked and don't have any filters that could be causing problems, but I'm going to need to start checking the filters on the individual servers and see how they compare with your references. We especially want to force everyone through the proxy(ies) and keep them from "slipping out" another way with access to the various and wonderful "services" there are out there let alone let any of them in. It is sometimes too easy to allow an exception to packet filtering, for example, that allows all but http and https traffic when there are problems, and some of the above listed "services" use a different protocol.
    Thanks,
    Tim

Can you check your filtering against tip #13 at the URL below?
I simply never use iManager to do filters. I use Filtcfg. Using Filtcfg, try to edit one of your
problem exceptions (one that doesn't go away). Then look at the logger screen - do you see a -6001
    error?
If so, the next step, and probably a good step to do now anyway, is to back up all the .cfg files in
SYS:ETC. (Or just back up all the files in there).

  • Safari keeps crashing, me contact mysteriously showed up,web pages slow to load.,what should I do????

What should I do. I ran dslteports speed test. My ping was 519 download spped was .28 Mbps and upload speed was .34 Mbps.
I've done a hard reset and reset my network settings. No help from either. I've also notice my screen tends to flicker and the data wheel at the top of my screen is spinning faster.  This thing is screwed help me!

What kind of a webpage were you attempting to go to that requierd a password? If you do not have a computer to connect the device to, then the only choices you have are the restart and reset. You never said if this slow internet was wi-fi or cellular. There is no way to know if you have corrupt files in the backup unless you do the restores as I explained. You can restore as new without a computer, just go into Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. That will wipe the phone and delete all of your content. Then you can activate the phone, which would be the same as a restore as new. Make sure you have a backup in iCloud, since you do not have a laptop. If you are concerned about a backup, then you might not want to try this restore measure.

  • ASA CX - allows traffic through but web page cannot be loaded

    Hello there,
I am having this strange issue with the HTTP traffic passing through the firewall. There is no any policies configured on the CX module for web or application filtering however when I reload the CX module or simply put in in "monitor-only" , the traffic is being allowed through the firewall. Also reading the CX events it looks like the traffic is passing through fine. Attaching the screenshot.
The ASA5512-X is runing 9.1.3 software and I am running the tests with the IPSec VPN client as I am not on client's site (all the traffic goes through the FW, no split-tunnel). Once on VPN and accesing a website which initially runs on HTTPS and opens fine, then there are some URLs inside this website and look like they redirect to HTTP and come back to HTTPS (strangly designed portal but needed for production), on the PC I get a security warning of the information not being encrypted. When trying to open one of those URLs and after accpeting the security warning the website looks like keeps loading and loading but nothing happens, and when I disconnect from the VPN this URL opens instaltnly.
On the Wireshark I find this starnge error: [Reassembly error, protocol TCP: New fragment overlaps old data (retransmission?)] and this is sent from my PC IP address, not the server. Attached the conversation betwwen my PC and the web server from Wireshark.
What do you think it maybe happening? I need some guidance on analysis of the packet capture and figure out what config on the FW could be blocking those HTTP requests. I desperate to fix this issues and already having few days trying to resolve it.
    Thanks very much in advance.

  • Web Pages Slow to Completely Load

For the last couple of days both myself and my wife on her laptop have been experiencing web pages slow to load.
I don't think it is our machines as we are both having the same problem.
Some pages will not load at all (ITV . Debenhams, PC World after downloading homepage) ?
Our D/L speed is not high a pathetic 1.6Mb/sec, but until recently pages generally loaded within 5-10 sec.

    Hi
it could be your browser temp files needing a clean out, if you are using Internet Explorer try below
Click on the Tools menu select Internet Options
On the General Tab you have browsing history, click on Delete button
Put a tick in the following boxes
    Temporary Internet Files
    Cookies
    Form Data
    InPrivate Filtering Data
Then click on the Delete button, a small progress window will open, wait till this is finished, close Internet Options window, close browser and try again
While I understand you are using two computers, give it a try
    Hope this helps

  • Web pages failing to load (quite an essay)

I had BT Infinity installed into my property on Friday 28the October upgrading from BT Total Broadband. The broadband connection that I had used to average at 3.5mb-4mb connection so Infinity with its up to 40mb seemed great!
Engineer came and installed a new Openreach modem and set up the HH3. Immediately upon using the connection did not seem to load web pages properly. The engineer kept trying to show me BBC iPlayer to demonstrate the download speed but the web page just would not load. Eventually we managed to get on Youtube and he showed me a video which downloaded superfast at 1080p. Engineer left property and I went about my business.
Later when trying to use the internet I encountered the same problem as earlier that 90% of web pages just would not load. Goggle would load each time but when trying to click a search result it would stick at the search page. I ran a Speedtest (after several attempts) and it returned with a 38mb download and 10mb upload but still would not load web pages. I immediately called BT who advised I needed to wait 24-48hrs for the line to stabilise. I did as requested and waited.
I did think it might be a problem with the HH3 so i searched for a way to directly connect to the white Open Reach modem. I did this and experienced the same problem so this ruled out the HH3 as causing an issue.
Saturday was exactly the same so I called them back and explained the problem. After a lot of back and forth an engineer was assigned to come out Wednesday to check my problem.
Engineer arrived and I explained the problem. He immediately put it down to my equipment which I told him it couldn’t be as it was the same across 2 PC’s (Wireless and Ethernet), iPhone, iPad and PS3 just wouldn’t connect to PS Network at all.
He laid a new data line from our main socket and replaced the open reach modem and HH3. Immediately upon boot up exactly the same problem. The engineer left advising he would send back notes advising problem was still present and I would hear back. I heard nothing! I chased BT numerous times and explained the problem each time I called. Finally getting to the end of my patients I called back again and was told an engineer had been booked for Friday (I was never told this).
Engineer arrived and I went through the usual back and forth explaining the issue and what had been done. He kept telling me the problem had to be my equipment and after checking the router settings, PC settings he called another engineer. The engineer was at number 75 of my street and I’m 78. Number 75 had Infinity installed 2 days before mine and were experiencing EXACTLY the same problem. The engineer left advising he would send back on his notes that the problem was not my property but the new green box that had been installed down the road from me.
I spoke with my neighbour who did confirm the problem they were experiencing was identical to mine. I left my case details with them and told them to quote me when calling BT so they would know it was not just his property.
After several more calls to BT explaining the problem (after insisting loud enough that the problem was not my equipment as they kept insisting it was) I have been informed that an engineer should be out to check my exchange before close on Monday. Several engineers have advised of a DNS or Port Error but this does not seem to be taken seriously or acted upon.
Well that’s where I am at now. 9 days later and this has been a horrible experience. I'm still without a working connection and after the 40 odd calls I’ve made to BT I wish I’d never bothered upgrading. At least before I had a working connection whereas now I have nothing.
Has anyone else on here encountered this type of problem? I’ve seen post’s about “slow downs” but these seems to be across downloads as well, where as my downloads maintain a steady 3.5-4mb.
    Cheers!
