Fast dvd transfer to ipod

what is the fastest way to transfer a dvd to my ipod? i tried handbreak but it took 6hrs. to convert the dvd !... isnt there a quicker way than this?

Since you failed to mention your current HandBreak settings, I cannot provide specifics here. However, generally speaking, you can puchase a faster G5 quad computer and/or possibly use lower quality, less space saving, single pass conversion strategy in a less efficient format to greatly decrease processing time. Basically, you are constrained by time, space, and efficiency. Modifying any single element means changing one or more of the others.

  • DVD transfer to iPod 5G?

I am trying to take my favorite exercise DVD to Ireland with me in March and was wondering if I could transfer it to an 5G and then use the AV connector to view it on a TV there, since the different regional cold won't allow me to play the DVD itself over there. I'm trying to avoid taking my laptop, as I came back with a ding the last time I tried that.
    Thanks

I use Handbrake Lite to help in transferring DVDs to my iPod. Plus MTR would help you make a DVD for use over there.

  • Is there a way to transfer DVDs to itunes/ipod?

im trying to transfer my Michael Jackson's Visions dvd to my ipod touch. i know you can buy it in itunes, but i don't want to rebuy the movie just so it can be put on my ipod touch. i wanted to see if the imovies app would work but it seems to just be for mac.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • Watch your DVD's On Ipod Video

    Hi everyone!
I found a great program that allows you to put your DVD's in IPOD VIDEO format. I took my favorite movie, Oh brother where Art Thou, and can now watch it while I'm running. On a tred mill of course. The program is called Handbrake. You can download it here:
    http://handbrake.m0k.org/
Here's a tutorial on how to use it:
    http://howto.diveintomark.org/ipod-dvd-ripping-guide/
It's alot faster then QT although QT seems to come out better. It's hard to tell the difference though.
I love my new Ipod. It's awesome!

If all you want to do is trim a clip or merge a couple of clips together, QTime Pro can do it quick and easy. However, it is not a true editing tool and the result may or may not suit your purposes. Final Cut Pro, Final Cut Express, and even iMove would provide the best result especially if you wish to add transitions, titles, A/V fades, and/or a whole host of other things. You would, however, be much better off starting with a good video source at normal video resolution here. Most common QTime can simple be dropped into say, iMove, and the application will automatically convert it to the DV format used for editing. Once finished the output can be re-coded in your preferred format at various preset sizes or you can use the expert mode to output a custom combination.

  • Transferring videos from DVDs onto the iPod

Is it possible to transfer a Movie from a DVD onto my iPod. If so, how? I have tried, but it doesn't work. Do I need to change the type of file that the video is? I have a 5th Generation iPod Video 30GB, but I will be getting an iPod classic 80GB soon.

I am afraid copying a movie DVD to iTunes would be illegal if you look at the copyright notice on the DVD. It would involve breaking the copy protection and it is against the forum terms of use to discuss this.

  • What do you think is the best way to get DVDs onto your iPod?

I haven't recieved my video iPod yet, its coming in the mail, but I'd like to be ready when I get it. In your opinion, what is the best way to get DVDs onto your iPod?
I have Windows, so Handbreak doesn't work.
I've tried videora, but its taking ages...
    Thanks!
    *Just noticed you can edit*
I would also like to add that I would perfer that it was free...
Videora is driving me up a wall... It still has 3 hours to convert this thing its been going for 10 min and its still at 0%

Depending on the specs of your computer, time taken to convert DVD's to an iPod-playable format can vary. On my computer (see below), it takes about 10 hours to convert a 2-hour DVD to the iPod format, using Videora.
So, due to the extremely large size of the DVD rip, it'll take a while to convert it, regardless of how fast or slow your system is.

  • DVD's to iPod with Videora

    Hey,
I've installed Videora iPod Converter and I know how to convert videos but its the DVDs im having problems with.. if anyone knows how to convert DVDs with Videora please respond.. and I've heard about the DVD Decryptor but it is now illegal.. so I need another way to put DVDs on my Ipod..
    Please Respond..

DVD Decrypt version 3.5.4.0 is a good one (I've tried a couple) to decode. That plus videora and you're good to go. The actual site address is in a thread under the topic "transfer dvd to ipod" in response to ravara (me) stating could not download due to a lot of these sites are now charging..so someone gave me the links to these two free (DVD Decrypt and Videora).
    GOOD LUCK.

  • Transferring DVDs to the iPod

I have two DVDs (concerts) that I want to get onto my new iPod. My first attempt indicated that you could use Quicktime Pro to move videos to your iPod. However, now I'm finding that it may not be the case since these are "commercial" DVDs - which Quicktime doesn't seem to support.
Is there any way to take a commercially purchased DVD and transfer it to your iPod using Quicktime (or anything else for that matter)?
    Thanks.

I cant believe there are still people out there who believe that Quicktime can rip DVD and transfer to iPod. When the G5 iPod first came out, I was thinking the same thing and wasted 30 bucks on Quicktime Pro 7 which does no s* at all. And I went to this forum, I found the products that people passing around that actually work. The first one is called DVD Decrypter for ripping DVDs. And the second one is Videora iPod Converter which is for converting the ripped files into appropriate ones in order to play on your iPod. But the bad thing is, I couldnt find the website that offer those two products (sorry). Maybe you should look around the forum for a while. Or try on download.com.

  • Transferring DVDs to my ipod

Hi i was just wondering could someone please help me. i don't know how to transfer my dvds to my ipod. can it be done? and if so how? much appreciated thanks

Clicking on the add file to library, within the File option of iTunes, should bring up a window to search for the file. If it does not, perhaps you should try rebooting the computer. When the window does popup, you will find the Videora videos under C:\Program Files\VideoraiPodConverter\Videos

  • Is there a way to put DVD on my iPod 5th Generation w/out getting a ripper?

I just got a DVD and a iPod with video. How do I get the DVD on the iPod without burning a copy or ripping it or whatever.?

    Try this:
    I had the same issue, however I used this program to transfer ...avi,mpg,wma..etc...;
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
    If the program is used the converted files will be in a folder called;
    C:\Program Files\videoraipodConverter\vodeos
I'm pasting this from the Videora site, the settings worked for me when others didn't, enjoy:
    Configuring videora converter
    0) Start Videora iPod converter.
    1) Click setup in the left nav.
    1.5) Click the profiles tab.
    2) Click new profile.
    3) Now, configure that profile:
    profile name: ipod
    in the video settings section...
    mode: MPEG-4 > CBR
    resolution: 320x240
    passes: one
bitrate: 768 kbps (384 kbps also works)
    framerate: 29.97 fps
    in the audio settings section...
    bitrate: 128 kbps
    sample rate: Input
    channels: stereo
    4) Click apply to save the profile.
    Now, you're ready to transcode.
    1) Click convert on the left nav.
    2) Click the transcode new video button.
    3) Pick your source video. Mine was an AVI from a torrent.
    4) Under quality profile, choose "ipod", the profile you created using the steps above.
    5) Click start.
Now you're ready to get the video on your ipod
    1) In iTunes, under the File menu, select add file to library. Find the transcoded one. By default, the transcoded videos pop out under the Videora install directory.
    2) Drag and drop to your ipod.
    Questions/observations:
    1) I haven't been able to get H264 anything to work. Is it broken? How much smaller than MPEG4 is it?
    2) 768 kbps video was about 400 megs/hour; 384 kbps video was about 231 megs/hour. I could readily see a difference in video quality.

The USB drive on my computer is no longer working. How can I transfer my iPod library to another computer.

  • How do I transfer my iPod songs & playlists to a new computer?

    Hi there:
First here's the situation. I've got iTunes 7.71 on my MacBook Pro and I've got a huge music library (approx 256 GB) that I keep on an external firewire drive. (In case it matters, the overwhelming majority of stuff in the library consists of MP3 rips from my CD collection-- very little is from the iTunes store).
I also have a 60 GB color display iPod that I use to listen to tunes when I'm at the gym, on planes, etc. Since my whole iTunes library does NOT fit on that, I don't try to synch my whole library to the iPod, but just a few selected playlists (which I keep in a playlist folder called "iPod playlists"), which total about 50 GB of songs.
OK, got that? Now: here's the challenge:
I just started work at a new job and I would really like to be able to transfer the iPod part of my library to the (Windows) machine I have there... the songs/playlists, etc. (I don't want/need all 256 GB of my library there... and in fact, I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be enough room on the machine for it. Also, I don't want to just plug in my iPod or an iPod dock and play from that, as I really like all the additional sorting functionality that iTunes offers, and frankly, I just know I'd leave my iPod at work half the time and be kicking myself for it at the gym..)
So: How do I do this? I searched around among the support documents and found very detailed instructions on how one can use an iPod to transfer a WHOLE library from one computer to another (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329). But that's not what I want to do here-- and the size of my main library precludes it. I just want to transfer the part of my library that I put on my iPod to my work machine.
There ought to be an easy way to do this, I think-- but I can't seem to find it. Can anyone out there please point me to info on how this can be done? Or just tell me? Thanks!

Although my question has not yet been answered, I have since discovered that I asked on too specific of a forum. I have re-posted it on the general iPod forum and will shortly be marking this thread as answered to avoid confusion.
