Fast fan during idle. Started a Week ago. (Laptop)
I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem. I have my laptop computer fan set to not run all the time in the bios. I have scanned the computer for malware or viruses that could be causing the problem. When I start my computer or when it sits idle for a minute the fan speeds up to max speed even when a program is not running(I watched the task bar). The fan even runs when there is low CPU usage, low RAM usage, and low DISK usage. Also the heat coming from my computer is normal same as it always has been, and the ambient room temperature in the rooms that I use the computer are 60-70 degrees Fahrenheit. I have checked and it is not my Nvidia card that is causing the problems. My laptop before this week has run fine until the fan was acting up. When I start my computer the fan is normal and once I sign in after 15 seconds it runs at full even when their is low CPU, RAM, and Disk Usage, it also runs fast when my computer is idle. I have updated my BIOS and reset some of the hardware on my computer from when I first got the computer and it still did not stop the fan problem. What also bothers me is that the fan runs at full at random times despite the load on the computer, I could be browsing the web or just watching the task bar and still the fan runs loud. I have also unistalled and reinstalled programs that I know can cause load on the computer and it still does not work. At times the computer runs normally but when I am in class or working at home the fan randomly speeds up and is loud. The computer is 4 months old too.

It does sound like you are having a hardware issue with your fan. I would suggest that since you are in warranty still that you call HP as they will be able to remotely log in to your computer and look at a few things. Dear Apple Family,
I have been using an iPhone since I lost interest with Nokia phones. I fell in love with Apple's innovation, design and technology. However, I am beginning to lose interest wth the product as well.
I have an iPhone 5, my phone's battery can only last an hour and the phone is 7 month old. The problem started last week while I was in Argentina. I had a bad holiday due to this, as I could not make use of the technology because my phone was off most of the time and I had nowehere to charge except to go back to the hotel. I could not even share pictures on Instagram. Has anyone ever experienced such a problem? If so, why and how was the problem fixed? I am starting to engage in a debate that I have been trying to avoid with my friends. They say that Samsung is striving and I now tend to agree, and if the problem persists I will gladly join the Samsung family. They seem to make reliable phones. Sadly, I never experienced this problem with iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4S.

I've got an iphone 5 and it's working very well with me but I have to admit that its battery lasts (slower) than my Ipad 2.
Still i can help with some tips that may improve your iohone's battery by an hour in addition (hopefully):
- close all apps by multitasking....
- do NOT keep the brightness to the max
Believe me you're gonna regret changing your phone to a samsung

When trying to update my feed http://feeds.feedburner.com/SpiritLedSpiritFed, I received an HTTP error code 400 while fetching source feed message. Nothing has changed on my end as I've been using Dropbox for the feed and the files since last year and was able to successfully update the feed up to two weeks ago.
I did run through all the tools on the Feedburner page (validator, podmedic, feedmedic) received a clean bill of health on the feed and I've looked at both Feeburner's site as well as Dropbox's support page to see if anything could have changed (requiring https or some other format for the feed), but no luck so far.
The strange thing is that on the feed itself, it's listed as http://dl.dropbox.com/s/xxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxxxx.xml. However, when I tried to 'RESYNC' it, the 400 error was displayed and it's listed as https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/xxxxxxxxxx.xml which is says it cannot reach.
Any suggestions would help as I've not been able to update my iTunes podcast for two weeks now.

This appears to be a viable feed. However it contains this tag:
<itunes:new-feed-url>https://www.dropbox.com/s/466rh3k2kw7f6jr/SpiritLedSpiritFed.xml</itunes:new-feed-url>
That will redirect iTunes (though nothing else) to the enclosed URL, and that is a web page containing a display of the feed and a download button, which is no use to iTunes. Consequently on attempting to subscribe in iTunes with any of these URLs the feed comes up empty. You need to get rid of these redirects and provide a direct link to the feed file; and you should not use https (encrypted connection) but http. Also, Dropbox isn't a good place to host your files, but if you really must use it you have to serve as a direct access in the same way as a web page, not as sharing. You have your media files on Dropbox as well, and the URL redirects to an https version, though it does play in a browser. This itself may cause problems; and if your podcast gets popular you will run into problems as Dropbox isn't really geared to do this sort of thing. -
Kernal Panics - Started 2 Weeks Ago
Hello, I have had my mac for a couple of months and recently had spilled some lemonade on the trackpad. Sent it into apple and they replaced every part besides my harddrive. Ever since then I have been having Kernal Panics in seemingly random intervals!
I had the Tech Guy at my boarding school take a look at it, he re-installed the OS, and said he fixed it. Obvliously he didn't or I wouldn't be posting.

Obviously you didn't and should have mentioned it to them 2 weeks ago and not now. But anyway, take it back, something's not 100% right, regardless of if it's still hardware or software at this point. If you paid to have the system fixed, then you expect to have a system fixed and returned to you in working order. Any persistant issues after that repair is done, points back to an issue with an incomplete/improper repair. That is how you must approach it with them otherwise they'll make you keep paying to fix something that's probably their fault.

Heat and fast fans during gameplay...
I can get about 20-30 minutes playing a game until my MPB starts to overheat at 170 F. The fans blast off to about 3500rpms and the game gets very bogged. The MBP is on a flat surface the whole time.
Even though it helps out some people i'm not a fan of apps that take control of your fanspeeds, the MBP has it's own software built in to handle this and it works good for me.
When idle my fans run at 1900 - 2000 rpm.
When i make my MBP sweat and work hard the fan speeds can run up to 6000 rpm each and it will keep my temperatures well within acceptable ranges.
The hottest it ever got was 79C and that only lasted a minute or two.
With a Core Duo 2 MBP the minimal fan speed should not be less than 2000 rpm and the max. fan speed 6000 rpm. Running the fans flat out all the time will probably shorten their life.
I'd say on normal use anything from 2000 - 3500 rpm is normal.
The fans can take a beating and run at full speed for a few hours or in bursts no problem. -
Mozilla pop-ups started several weeks ago then came repeated crashes
It just happened while I was entering the information so I have to re-enter it. Short version before it happens again. Pop-ups from Mozilla advertising started about 2 months ago, then the response time got slower, now for the past month or more, it freezes then closes. Then it does a re-store, with the this is embarrassing caption. We love Mozilla, have for years, but to test it, I tried Internet Explorer which I hate and we didn't have these problems. It started I think with Facebook, sending gifts in applications then got worse from there
It's possible that you are having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not caused by one (or more than one) of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] (don't forget to select ''Disable all add-ons'' when you start safe mode). If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and themes and [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+plugins this one] for plugins.
If you need support for one of your add-ons, you'll have to contact its author.

Chino Hills, CA - FIOS is very slow - started 2 weeks ago and still not fixed.
In Chino Hills, CA, FIOS used to be excellent. For the past 2 weeks it has been a dog. It's like dial-up. Just look at my trace route below. Do you think that's acceptable? I don't know what ..... verizon-gni.net is but seems to be the culprit. After that ... ALTER.NET is also slow. It's like going back to the stone age for me. Can anyone who knows what's going on pls help. i contacted FIOS support, opened a ticket. I've been asked to reset my router, even bypass the router and connect my PC directly to the wall outlet and I still get the same problem. My friend in the same city a few miles away has the EXACT same problem so it's my router nor her router. Something is terribly wrong but I can't get straight answers from FIOS tech. My connection is like my TimeWarner cable connection before - Slow and unpredictable. So much for fiber optic... I think i actually have twisted pair dial-up the way this is going!!!

I receive a newspaper link biweekly and was always able to download the material and read it at leisure. I recently updated to the latest version of firefox and since then I am not able to get the publication. A widow shows that the information is being received from the host. At a short time the window disappears but I do not see the publication.
@sanjampet: I have already read the link you provided and none of the solutions work, which is why I posted here.
Safe mode just doesn't activate. I hold shift for as long as possible until eventually I get the prohibited symbol. When I hold shift I see the apple logo and loading icon and then eventually prohibited symbol, its as if I wasn't holding shift at all, which makes me wonder if the shortcut is even correct? And I know its not a problem with my keyboard or my timing of pushing shift because holding alt/option works as usual.
Holding C to load from the installs disc doesn't work either, which eliminates all the solutions based on that. Its the same as safe mode - I hold the button until I eventually get prohibited symbol.
I also tried selecting my Mac hd via holding alt key - same result: prohibited symbol.
I also tried selecting my installs disc via holding alt key and a strange thing happens: I see the apple logo and loading wheel but this time it is stuck on the apple logo and loading spin thing for about 20 minutes while there is lots of noise and activity coming from the CD drive..
I also tried resetting the NVRAM/PRAM, which DID seem to have an affect (screen was brighter + startup sound was louder) but I still see the prohibited symbol like all the other times.
I'm yet to be able to get past the prohibited symbol, the only way around it so far is to load the windows partition if my HD. -
Fans running faster when computer idling
I installed Snow Leopard on my late-2008 MacBook Pro a week ago. It has been running fine except for the following. At night, I leave my mac on to download torrents using Vuze. I lower the screen brightness to zero, and disable the energy saver features. The computer has been getting hot, and the fans really spin fast. It never did this with Leopard.
Funny thing is, when I raise the brightness and actively use the computer more heavily (Vuze running in the background, other apps also running), it cools off and the fans spin down.
Any ideas on what's going on here?How to reset SMC on MacBook Air and MacBook Pro (Late 2008 and later)
1)If the computer is on, turn it off by choosing Shutdown from the Apple () menu.
2)Connect the power adapter to a working power source.
3)On the built-in keyboard, press (left) Shift-Control-Option along with the power button once.
4)Wait 5 seconds and press the power button to start the computer.
Note: You must use the keys on the left side of the built-in keyboard. -
Hi I have an Imac I5 21.5 inch.It was working perfectly.Then i didnt use that for about 2 months. Week ago when i want to start the Imac ,it didnt start.
When press and hold or keep on pressing the power button then i hear the fans are working and i get a continuous beep( but low freqency tone).

Thanks for the question. From the information you provided, it sounds like the iMac is successfully turning on, however video is not displayed. These symptoms can usually be isolated further by the troubleshooting steps in this article:

I recieved my iPhone 5 3 weeks ago and the battery life completely *****! After doing a few things and maybe using it for about 30 minutes the phone start overheating like crazy then the battery starts dropping very fast. Does anyone know if it's a problem with the iOS or with my phone? And is anyone else expierenceing these problems?
It sounds like you have an app that is incorrectly continuously using data and power... from normal use the phone should NOT be getting that warm... only constant video playing via data like Netflix for example would result in that...
I'd say that you should remove all apps in the recent app tray... tunr phone off... then once you power back on...
Hold BOTH home and sleep wake buttons together until you see a white apple symbol... then release both buttons...
This will ensure you have no apps running...
I've experienced a hang up with mail while out and about that has resulted in this on my iPhone as well... Once I performed these steps it was fixed... it seemed like it got stuck and that's what caused the warm phone and battery drain...
I notived that when it gets stuck (mail app that is) I will see the text connecting at the bottom and it never changes to "updated" like it should... this is my trigger that it's gotten stuck.
Have not really figured out what causes mail app to get stuck yet... -
I downloaded Mountain Lion a few weeks ago. Almost immediately I noticed that there was an issue. Every few minutes the screen or page I have open, e-mail, Facebook etc. will start to "jiggle" side to side. Like a nervous tick. During the few seconds it's doing that nothing else responds, it freezes my mouse etc. I guess I was hoping it would go away! Everything else is working just fine, and it never did this until I updated to Mountain Lion. Can this be fixed?
It is probably some incompatible 3rd party software.

High fan speeds and high GPU temperature during idle
Hi,
I'm hearing slight similar problems around this subject but this one seems to be obscure.
My iMac 20inch (Early 2008 - 8,1) has just passed by the 3 year mark now and only yesterday just suddenly started haven't this weird gain in fan speeds mainly on the CPU.
Checking the temperature in iStat shows that its coming mainly from the GPU (GPU - 79c / GPU diode - 91c / GPU heatsink - 83c) and that's from looking as I type this.
I've done the SMC reset a few times and the PRAM reset too, but that's only managed to make things worse...occasionally on startup after the resets the screen will blank out and ask me to reset.

Hope someone can help and this be of some help to others in the same situation.I think a SMC reset will handle this for you. If not then also do a PRAM reset.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
Release the power button.
Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys. -
Hi, a week ago my macbook pro wanted to do an update, so I clicked yes, it went on to do the normal and then offered to restart, since then I have not be able to restart. I have tried almost everything. When I turn on the power button, all you can hear are the fans and nothing else. Its not very old, does anyone know what I can do as I dont seem to be able to get any support from apple.
By everything, I am assuming you have tried resetting the SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964) and PRAM (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379). If you haven't tried this yet, please do!

The update you're talking about was the firmware update. Hopefully resetting the PRAM gets you up and running. Try resetting it 3 times in a row (hold the keys down until you hear 3 startup chimes).
