Fast forward icon in the play status display

for the past few days, instead of displaying a play or pause icon in the upper-left hand corner (the play status), my ipod is displaying a fastforward icon. that's it. not that anything else is wrong, i just get worried when anything out of the ordinary happens. give me a shout. thanks.

I don't know why there is a fast forward icon instead of a play/pause icon on the upper-left of my ipod. It is always there even it is paused/playing.

Actually found this answer in the archives: When the audio book is playing, hold finger on middle of screen until the speed selection message appears and change from 2x to 1x. Thanks for your response though!

How to synchronise the play status of podcasts between iphone and itunes?

Hi there, thank you for reading,
I am annoyed now for a few months about the disfunctional synchronizing between my iphone and itunes when it's about the play status of podcasts.
I get new podcasts in every new day and i play many, so it's essential to see immediately which are new and which i have listened to or have half-listened.
This functionality was there when podcasts were still played in the Music app on the iphone, but now it's moved to a podcast app, it doesn't. Weird.
I run the most recent software and the hardware is fine. If you have any to get around the daily manual synchronisation, please let me know.

Hi Jim - thanks so much for your detailed & helpful reply. I actually do already have those columns shown in my playlist views - my problem is that I don't believe what they are showing!
For instance, out of my c.13k tracks, my smart playlists count:
Matched - 42
Ineligable - 46
Purchased - 15
Not Matched - 121
Uploaded - 27
Error - 13,060
When I first started using Match it spent several days uploading tracks, and now is having another incremental go, and showing 325 of 1464 Uploaded.
Ah - that's interesting - I just looked at my 'iCloud Matched' playlist on my iPhone, and it says there are 11,876 tracks in it, even though iTuns on my MacBookpro shows 42! But then my iPhone also shows 11,876 in the 'iCloud Error' list. And in my 'Ineligble' list. And my 'Purchased' list...so who knows! Which was the thinking behind my original query.
But I do appreciate your reply Jim, which has been helpful even with the above situation.

Can you set up the bookmarks icon in the toolbar to display a vertical list of bookmarks on hover, rather than by clicking it?

I think I used to be able to hover over the bookmarks toolbar affordance (the clipboard icon to the right of the star) and all my bookmarks would display in a vertical list as they do when I click the clipboard icon. Is this possible?

How do you make the effect of a VHS fast forward (so like the lines with the at the bottom)

Essentially I have time lapsed a video to go about 1.5x as fast as normal but I want to be able to make it look like that as well like older VHS tapes when they were fast forwarded. Thanks

What is the easiest way to remove the fast foward button from the play bar?

Everytime a user clicks on the fast foward (not the forward) it screws up the audio. It doesnt really serve an purpose in my CBT so I would like to just remove it. Is there an easy way?

you don't indicate what version you're using, but in Cp5.5 (and I presume it's similar in Cp6), go to Project > Skin Editor, then uncheck the buttons you don't want.

I reset my toolbars and now no longer see the "page back" or "page forward" icons on the top left corner of the screen

just loaded the new version of firefox. i went into "library" and told the computer to forget the mp3tube toolbar and it got rid of all the toolbars and also shows no search engine in new tabs, and has no page back or page forward arrows in top left corner of screen. how do i at least get the page back and forward function enabled?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in Full Screen mode with all toolbars hidden.
* Press F11 to toggle full screen mode (Firefox/File > Full Screen)
If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

TS1717 When I try to play songs from my collection on my laptop or try to play the samples of music from the itunes store on my laptop, the music never plays; It is on the playlist selection and appears as if its in the play status but no music actually p

I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail...
I have authorized my laptop...
I have downloaded the 64bit itunes for windows.
The sound on my laptop is functioning for other applications such as youtube, crackle...

IPOD PLAY BUTTON WORKS LIKE FAST FORWARD BUTTON

I need help. My 5th generation IPOD will not play any of my songs. When I press the play button it lists them one at a time (as if I had hit fast forward) but does not play any of them. I have tried recharging but it does not work. I have tried looking in discussion groups but no one has this problem.

The first things to try are these basic troubleshooting steps.

I was having problems trying to fast forward an HD film over my Wifi(g) network. For some reason, apple tv stalls if the fast forwarding out paces your buffering speed. In a nutshell, my network is fast enough to watch hd over but too slow to fast forward faster than X2.
Does anyone know how to improve this setting? Apart from opting for a new router, wired and removing other wireless devices?
For a short term solution for anyone out there, the remote feature on the iphone allows you to simply drag along the length of the film, similar to that of a film, and play from where you stop. EXTREMELY USEFUL when compared to the response-less rubbish that is the white remote!

I have that problem all the time with synced HD video. If I fast forward or rewind, the video will start sputtering after that. I don't think it's your network, it's probably a glitch in the ATV.
In any case, if you're streaming from a Mac via wifi, make sure you turn Time Capsule off. If it starts running while you're streaming, it will definitely degrade performance.

Crash when fast-forward or rewinding in videos

My 5G 80GB crashes when fast-forward or rewinding while playing a video. I can fast-forward about 5 times, then it crashes and I can't fast-rewind, it crashes the first time I try it. My videos are 5 minutes or 30 minutes in length and it doesn't matter which I play :/
I also noticed that when I play a video without fast-forwarding or anything, the iPod crashes at the end of the video...
Any suggestions? I'd really like to use that feature on my iPod, with the click wheel it is so comfortable to do that.

I've tried the Five Rs multiple times, they didn't help. I also tried those sample videos, although only 3 of them can be played on the ipod: sample_iPod, sample_iTunes and sample_mpeg4... my iPod doesn't crash in these videos... I used this program to convert my videos for my iPod: http://www.ipod-video-converter.org/
I used mpeg4 compression.

Avchd video file made with Premiere Elements 8 won't fast forward or reward

I just finished an AVCHD video project in Premiere 8 and I can't fast forward or rewind the file on my computer with Windows Media Player or in Windows Media Center. The file plays nicelly but it's annoying watch it from start to finish for 45 minutes.
I have a Vixia HF S20 - the video format of the original files was ACHD. After finishing editing the project I choose to save it on my PC (a Dell Inspiron 8100 with I5 - so lots of power awailable) as a MPEG file. I noticed that this format was the only one that gave me the option to save the video in H.264 1920x1080i 30 preset.
The rendering of the video took some 3 hours. It saved the video in AVCHD format and at playback, on my computer screen, it looks just as it should - HD quality - but the lack of controls it's really, really stupid!
Anyway, I need help to figure out what is happening here. Did I do something wrong? Are there other saving settings/presets to choose from that retain the HD quality I am not aware of? Thanks a million in advance!

Well, if you are weighing things against WMP, it could be that PrE could have done something differently.
Now, I am not a fan of WMP, and am REALLY not a fan of RealMedia Player. I liken that latter one to a Trojan, waiting to happen. I last had a version installed about 12 years ago, and would never let another copy near any of my computers.
Besides the two that I mentioned, GOM Player gets high marks, as well.

Play Status Question

Hi I have what looks like a fast reverse symbol in my play status on my IPOD. I can't see whether it is playing or paused. does anyone know what this is and how to remove it?

familiarization, ive come across a situation. in all
of the documentation (online, print, forums)
concerning battery light status, there ISN'T an
implicit indication that both lights (top and bottom)
will light up simultaneously when doing a battery
check. so if anyone here could offer some
thoughts/answers i would very much appreciate it. i
understand that to check battery status you switch
the shuffle on and off within 5 seconds, the shuffle
will continue to play and the status light will
indicate charge. my question is, are BOTH top and
bottom lights supposed to indicate this or only the
bottom (i.e. next to the on/off switch)? funny me but
it struck me as odd that this morning only the bottom
light showed battery status when i thought the top
would. fyi, the lights on my shuffle work in every
manner as its supposed to EXCEPT this battery status
(either it doesn't or isnt supposed to). thanks very
much beforehand.
According to the manual:
"...iPod shuffle has two status lights, one on the top and one on the bottom, that let you know when you’ve pressed a button, the state of the battery, that iPod shuffle is enabled as a disk, or if there’s something wrong... "
HOWEVER, my experience is that same as yours: ONLY the LED next to the switch shows battery status. BOTH bottom and top LED light to show button pushes, etc...
