Fast Forward / Rewind button dead

I just bought my nano less than 24 hours ago, and I can no longer use my fast forward / rewind buttons.
Yes, I know the other way of fast forwarding/rewinding, but that's not the point.
Any suggestions? Or should I just take it back to the store for an even exchange / refund if possible

A good first step in many problems of this nature would be a soft reset by holding the select and menu button till it rebouts and than if no change after that to restore with the ipod updater. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60944 http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt16.html

  • I just got an iTouch first generation. The manual online says there should be a volume bar along the bottom under the play/fast forward/rewind buttons when you're looking at a youtube video, but there's no volume bar there! How do I change volume?

Also there is no sound coming from videos but sound does come when I type words in and such. Is there a mute button on? At one point I saw a speaker icon show up in the middle of the youtube page but it only stayed for a second and I never was able to get it to show up again. So frustrated!

    Hi,
OK. Following instructions, I've uninstalled the old Flash Player and installed the right one, and videos are now playing. Thanks for pointing me to the other posts on this site. YouTube and other videos are now playing
Some of the videos still play jerkily (they don't stream evenly). A few stream evenly once they've been allowed to buffer fully. (I think I'm using these terrms correctly.) Is this solely caused by low bandwidth, or is there something—an adjustment of some kind—that I can do with Flash Player to have online videos stream evenly, even from the moment I start them?
As I mentioned, to bypass this uneven streaming while watching online, I download the videos and watch them usually using Quicktime Player 7.6.4. Still, they don't always play evenly, but for the most part do.
I've just tested bandwidth and I'm told:
    5.63 Bbps Download speed
    0.63 Mbps Upload speep

  • MSI-256 - Fast Forward/Rewind Issue...

Folks, I'm using the MSI Mega Stick 256 with the latest firmware.
All is cool, except for the fast forward/rewind function. I'm listening to the .Net Rocks radio show. The show is long - up to two hours. So I need to fast forward to get to where I was last at. But when I do it moves slowly forward or backward for a minute before hitting turbo mode jumping 2 minutes for each tick. The problem is it is too slow for the first minute and way too fast fast after that. I often am jumping forward and backwards several times to get to where I want to be.
It really need to use a logarithmic speed increase so that I can judge better when to stop fast forwarding.
    That's my #1 issue.
Also it would be nice to have it resume playing from the point in the last file it was playing. And it would be nice to see on screen the current time display.
    Cheers!

    Here's a thing:
unfortunately, it's not the iPod touch/iPhone 2.0 software that is causing this... It's actually the video encoding
iPod touch/iPhone 2.0 has new playback system that is causing a video encoded with 3rd party encoding software (not the one from Apple, but other software's iPod compatible h.264 encoding system such as iSquint) to go haywire when fastfowarding or rewinding a video....
I had issues with some of my home movies, encoded via iSquint, playing on my iPod after upgrading to 2.0, but after re-encoding it with Quicktime Pro, (yes, I converted the ORIGINAL file to h.264 via Quicktime Pro) all my video playback smoothley.
So, it's not a software issue, it's the video encoding issue....

  • How to achieve Fast-forward/rewind functions when using VideoDisplay

I use "VideoDisplay" instance for progressive download of
videoes from a server. Is anyone know how to add
fast-forward/rewind functions using Actionscript 3 with
    VideoDisplay object?
or is there anyway to do it when playing videoes through
    progressive download?
    Thanks in advance.

    Matt,
Thank you very much for your help. The thread is quite
    interesting.
I can only make the video jumping forward/backward at the
step of 10 seconds by changing VideoDisplay's "playheadTime"
property. When I set the step down to 1 second,
the video is "frozing", and the playheadTime is going 1
second forward/backward, then return back to where it is, and going
1 second forward/backward, then return back to wheare it is again,
    and repeats forever.
For the FLVPlayback class, it is not available in Flex
    builder 3, why?
    Thanks again,
    Regards,
    Fan

  • Use of remote to fast forward/rewind

I've got movies that I've converted from DVD's and when I play them I want to fast forward rewind, but the behavior of the remote is strange. It seems it I hit it once, I go to the next chapter, if I hold it down it fast forwards, then drops back to normal speed. I can't find any documentation on how this is supposed to work. Can someone tell me where to find some better documentation?

Welcome to the  Discussion forums.
If you press and release 'advance' while playing, the movie will advance to the next chapter.
If the movie isn't chaptered this action will advance it 1/10th (or is it 1/20th) of the movies duration.
If you press and release 'advance' while paused, the movie will advance 10 seconds.
If you press advance and hold, the movie will fast forward.
If you press advance and hold, even longer the movie will fast forward even faster.
There are 3 fast forward speeds.
These rules apply to rewind as well.
Note however that the movie needs to have loaded enough to jump to the appropriate places, if it hasn't there may well be a delay while it loads the appropriate chapter or whatever. If you keep pressing while it is loading the appropriate segment you may well confuse it and yourself. Try to let the blue line reach the end before giving the next command.
Movies with lots of chapters respond much better to these commands since the actions are pretty much dependant on loading chapters.
You may find that using FF and RW are not as responsive immediately after starting a movie, but work really well after you have watched it for a while, how much depends on how long the chapters are, how good streaming is and how long you have been watching.
Movies without chapters aren't a problem, movies with many chapters are better, movies with one chapter are an absolute nightmare.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone iPod fast forward/rewind scrollbar missing

I have lost the fast forward/rewind scrollbar in my iPod. It was there yesterday, and I don't remember changing any settings that may have altered this. How can restore the fast forward/rewind scrollbar in my iPod so that I can fast forward/rewind the tracks I am listening too?

Just tap center of the screen to make the scrollbar (and lyrics, when added) re-appear.

  • Where are the tab rewind and fast forward toolbar buttons in ff 6.02?

The navigation toolbar has historically allowed customization with a button which would rewind the tab history to the first tab opened in a session and another button which would fast forward to the most recently opened tab. Neither of the buttons are available when customizing the navigation toolbar. Are those options available in FF 6.02? If so, where are they located. If not, why not? I am aware that a left click on the back\forward buttons shows the tab history. My OS is XP and I am using FF 6.02.

  • Fast fwd & rewind buttons jamming on car stereo

A few months ago I noticed that the fast forward and rewind buttons no longer functioned properly on my car stereo. I have an iphone 5 currently on IOS 7.1.2. I do not know if this loss of function coincided with a software update but the buttons worked with my iphone 5 when I first purchased the car in March 2012. Now when playing music on my car stereo via bluetooth from my iphone this is what happens: If I try to fast forward a little bit through a track the fast forward button just keeps going faster and faster until it gets to the end of the track i.e., it doesn't stop skipping forward when I lift my finger off the car stereo button. The same thing happens with the rewind button. All other buttons work fine - skip track, volume, etc but once I touch the fast forward or rewind buttons no matter how briefly, the tune will just keep fast forwarding until it reaches the end (or beginning) of the track.
Car is Toyota Yaris 2012. I have contacted Toyota to ask them to find out if there is a firmware update for the car stereo and they are going to get back to me.
I have tried a phone reset. I have tried un-pairing and repairing however I did not delete all devices from the car stereo just my phone.
Does anyone know what to do?
    Thanks in advance.

Issue resolved, sold iPhone and now using Android smartphone.
Works perfectly with all my audio devices and so much faster than iPhone should have done this much earlier

  • Can I make my play, forward, rewind buttons disfunctional on my keyboard?

I just got the new apple keyboard. I would like to have only the play, pause, rewind, fast forward buttons disabled (I would still like to use the sound, display, etc to work) is there a way to turn off only those keys.
My purpose for doing this is because I have a program called coversutra (I think) that lets me play my itunes when I am in a different program. It will also open iTunes if I press play. I want to enable those keys to work with coversutra, but I cannot as long as it has the play, pause, etc enabled on it. I might also like to remove the dashboard and expose function because I am used to using different keys (as I have on my old keyboard)
    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks

in the keyboard & mouse preferences under keyboard, check the box that says "Use all F1, F2, etc, keys as standard function keys"
That will disable their current use unless you press the fn key at the same time. Then, under keyboard shortcuts in the same preferences pane, you may be able to assign certain uses to certain applications you want. Don't hold me to that too much though, I'm not sure what function keys can be used for what applications anymore. But at least there are options there to play with, hopefully it helps.

  • Z1 Unable to fast forward/rewind music

I wondered if anyone could help me with this. Within the Sony Walkman app the function 'Press and hold' to fast forward or rewind doesnt work. When you use this feature on my phone it just skips tracks on release of the button regardless of the length of time the button is held down. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? Cant find any similar issues searching round the web. Thanks in advance

Are you in the overview screen where you just have a small song bar at the bottom of the screen and the screen is showing your other albums, if yes, than you can't fast forward or rewind. Press on the track that your are listening to, to reach the screen that is showing the cover art of the song and some sort of bigger track controls. On this screen you should be able to fast forward and rewind the song.

  • Remote Control-Fast Forward & Rewind

The wife has threatened to return to using the cable movie downloads if I can't show her how to use ATV's simple remote device to go in reverse and fast forward in smaller increments. All we have been able to do is jump backward or forward in no smaller than 1 minute lunges. Does anybody know a way to advance or rewind in close to frame-by-frame increments?
    TIA

Yes, but if you press and hold the button it fast forwards or rewinds by the seconds, not not minutes or chapters.

  • Quicktime sound is muted on fast forward/ rewind, do not want it

hello, sound is muted when rewinding/fast forwarding movie in quicktime. Any ideas?

I've often do transcription, so shortcuts for ff/fr (⌘ + →/⌘ + ←) with audio enabled was very convenient.
Pressing ff/fr buttons with "Option" key is not an option, pardon the calembour. That's very reduces productivity.
Is there any method to bring back audio when ff'ing/fr'ing, without pressing buttons, only shortcuts?
I don't know of any since the keyboard shortcuts you want to use only cycle through the 2x, 5x, 10x, 30x, 60x playback options—all of which exceed the 1.9x max limit. I, however, would use a different approach for scrubbing forward/backward when transcribing. I.e., I would set the QT player playback to 1.9x with audio and then use gestures for scrubbing—that is, I would use a left-right, one-finger gesture (touch mouse) or left-right, two-finger gesture (trackpad) for scrubbing the playhead. (I actually prefer a foot control for scrubbing but haven't seen one since I retired from a job that included the transcribing of audio tapes.)

I also am experiencing this problem when viewing BBC iplayer through BT vision. All other catch up channels working OK. Rebooted no resolution. Am not viewing on HD.Telephoned BT - said it was not a problem with them it must be a BBC issue. There are no reported issues about this on the BBC iplayer Forum
