Fast Forward/Skip over podcast ads using Itouch?

I listento many podcasts that have ads. Is there a way to skip through the ads with the touch? I usually tap and drap and end up missing some of the content as I move along the timeline. Appreciate any info. I have the itouch 2.0. Much easier to skip using a scroll wheel on my mini. Hope there is a workaround.
Rob

You can also fast forward and rewind by holding down the track skip icons (the ones which you use to skip entire tracks). The longer you hold, the faster your iPod will scrub through the track.

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

  • Rewind and Fast Forward skipping

Evening all, I recently received a new black Sky + Box and have had so much trouble with the pause and rewind facility. Does anyone know why the recordings skip all the time when I press forward or rewind? With the old white sky box, the programmes would play smoothly but at a faster speed but this new box appears to skip at certain sections causing the programmes to freeze at some points. I have now had two different boxes and I have had enough. Regards

Hello, i've read your post sounds to me need to hard reset your sky box. Please follow. PLEASE NOTE YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING : like recordings and planners. Press the Services button on your Sky remote.
The Options menu should now be highlighted.2Press the 0 button on your Sky remote.
The Picture tab within the Settings menu should now be highlighted.3Now press the 0 1 & Select buttons on your Sky remote in quick succession.
You should now be in the hidden part of the Settings menu with the Setup tab highlighted.
If the following menu is not showing on your TV screen then press the Sky button and repeat the process again from Step 1.4Use the Left or Right arrows on your Sky remote to scroll across to the tab labelled “Sys Reset”.
This should change to “System Reset” once highlighted.5Press either the Select or Down arrow on your Sky remote to select the System Reset option.
The following warning will be displayed on screen:
"This option will delete all existing and planned recordings and purchases.
All Buy & Keep purchases are available to re-download at sky.com/restore"6Press the Select button on your Sky remote.
“HOUSEKEEPING, Please Wait...” will be displayed on your TV screen.
Your Sky+HD box will then switch off and reboot.

  • How can I fast forward in Podcast?

I want to know how to fast forward in a podcast?  I can hold down the fast forward button and it goes a few seconds and I can rewind for a few seconds.  However I want to fast forward minutes.
Any suggestions?  I see in the manual on page 62 about podcast and audiobook controlls but I don't have playback speed or a skip to any point in the timeline.

To skip to any point on the timeline, drag the playhead along the scrubber bar.  While dragging, slide your finger down to slowdown the scrub rate.

  • Fast forward podcasts

On my iPhone I have a 15 second fast forward "button" in podcasts. I do not see that same button on either of my iPads. Is there a way to get the 15 second fast forward "button" on iPads?

Press the center button and scroll to where you want.

  • Fast Forward in Itunes seems slow

So I am using the iTunes
    capability to do some
    coursework and sometimes
    have to jump around within
    the courses to review things.
    Pressing and holding the >>|
goes fast forward but at an
incredibly slow rate, in my opinion.
    Only a 4 minute jump every 5-10
    seconds.
This is on a relatively high-speed
    network.
    Any chance to go faster?
    Thanks.

    It's iTunes going through
    itunes.stanford.edu - seems
terribly slow to go to any given
    course (direct, over the net,
    not pre-downloaded) via
the fast forward bar or trying
    to use the slide bar.
One should be able to jump
    around in these.
I guess one has to wait a long
    time for the load/buffering (several
    minutes) and then drag it.

  • Fast Forward and Rewind keyboard shortcuts in Log and Capture

In FCP, I want to assign the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons (in the Log and Capture mode) to buttons on the keyboard. I've assigned the functions using the Keyboard Layout in the Tools menu but it doesn't seem to be working like it should. In Log and Capture when I use the mouse to press the Fast Forward button, FCP stops the miniDV deck and fast forwards the tape as fast as possible without showing any picture. However, when I invoke the keyboard shortcut I created all I get is the picture moving a few fames per second instead of the tape stopping and fast forwarding as fast as possible. The same happens with the Rewind keyboard shortcut as well. Any ideas as to why, and how I might be able to fix this?
The computer I'm currently working on is a Dual 2 GHz PowerMac G5, 2.5 GB RAM, Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro 5.0.4).

When I press the fast forward or rewind button while logging a miniDV tape the video stops and then the tape fast forwards or rewinds at a MUCH faster rate than L or J ever give me. That is the behavior I am trying to get from a keyboard shortcut.
Not possible via keyboard shortcuts, unfortunately.
Even if you map the Rewind and Fast Forward functions to keys in a Custom Keyboard Layout - for those who didn't know, yes, there are specific commands for those functions even though they are not mapped by default - those shortcuts will not within the L&C window. We're stuck pressing the buttons.
Forgot to mention: the only time you're able to invoke the true fast forward or rewind function is using Shift-I/O (that is, Go to In Point or Out Point). Of course that only works if you have the necessary In/Out point set...

  • IPhone / iPad skips, pauses, fast forwards, Siri starts (without prompt)

    Hi -
I've had an issue with my iPhone when listening to "Music" or "Podcasts" or "Spotify" where my phone will randomly skip, fast forward, stop and start, or even activate siri without my prompting. It only happens with those app that I've noticed so far.
I had thought this was just a problem with my iPhone but switched to listen to music on my iPad Mini and had the same issue.
I'm starting to think it's caused by my headphones (Sony over the ear headphones with built in remote/mic) as I have a cheap pair of earbuds where I don't have the same issue. These are not bluetooth - it's wired.
Do Apple products have compatibility issues with headphones? Has anyone had the same issue?
It's possible as well it's not being caused by the heaphones, that's just my guess.
Searched around for similar threads, apologies if re-post.
    Thanks,
    Jordan

So I actually "fixed" it. The headphones I was using had a built in remote. I switched that wire to a standard one (it came with both) and I no longer have the issue. Seems the Sony remote built into the headphone wire wasn't compatible with the iPhone...

  • Unable to fast forward through podcasts

I've recently noticed that I can't fast forward through podcasts on my iPod touch, specifically with NPR All Songs Considered ones (I don't listen to any other ones, so it may not be specific to these ones). Its annoying because I can't pick up from where I left off listening. Every time I try using the bar to move through the podcast, it starts over from the beginning. Is this intentional? Is it specific to the podcast?

This is a long standing problem with iPods and appears to be specific to podcasts that get encoded using LAME, arguably the best available encoder anywhere.
From what I can tell from searching over the years, this is due to the iPod looking at a very old style header (XING) instead of the proper field in the LAME set header. This is as near as I can figure out from the posts.
This causes problems like the iPod thinks the track is shorter than it really is (a good example of this is a long MP3 like one disc of an audiobook) and stops prematurely. Very annoying.
In the case of the NPR podcasts, the bug in the iPod causes crashes when you try to fast forward or seek.
Neither of these problems appear to be related in any way to "remember playback position", so don't necessarily go down that route.
An easy way to check for this issue on a podcast is to highlight it, and then right click, select Get Info. If you see LAME as the encoding, look out, your iPod will possibly not play it correctly.
These same podcasts play back absolutely fine on any other player, and over the years it has been consistently narrowed down to a bug in the iPod.
I sure wish Apple would fix this. I just had the same problem with a recent podcast on my 2nd gen Nano, so we loaded it onto my son's brand new iPod. I thought surely Apple would have fixed this by now, but sure enough, still broke on the latest Nano version!

  • IPhone 4 audio books only showing 3 minutes and then skipping if I fast forward

I have a number of older audio books and audio files that I have recorded myself using a dictaphone and added to the iTunes library and then set the info for them to be "audio book".
Since the latest software update, my iPhone 4 (and no it's not jail broken) has a) not updated the iPhone library to include or exclude audio books I add or remove from it via sync (using either playlists or the book option where you can tick the books to sync). Instead I have to search on the phone for them and then I have a number of problems with the actual playback:
    1) some of the audio books only show a track length of 3 mins even though on the computer they show as their true length (over an hour).
    2) on the above audio books and even on the ones that do show the right length, the second I try and fast forward, use the scrubbing bar or rewind them, it skips to the next track!
This is highly frustrating and I can't find a similar problem on support when searching.
    Any suggestions/ideas much appreciated.

Really? Has no one else had a problem with audio books not appearing in the library and then skipping to the next track if you try and fast forward or rewind any of it?

  • Slow Fast Forward or stalls - streaming over wifi.

    To anyone who is interested,
I was having problems trying to fast forward an HD film over my Wifi(g) network. For some reason, apple tv stalls if the fast forwarding out paces your buffering speed. In a nutshell, my network is fast enough to watch hd over but too slow to fast forward faster than X2.
Does anyone know how to improve this setting? Apart from opting for a new router, wired and removing other wireless devices?
For a short term solution for anyone out there, the remote feature on the iphone allows you to simply drag along the length of the film, similar to that of a film, and play from where you stop. EXTREMELY USEFUL when compared to the response-less rubbish that is the white remote!

I have that problem all the time with synced HD video. If I fast forward or rewind, the video will start sputtering after that. I don't think it's your network, it's probably a glitch in the ATV.
In any case, if you're streaming from a Mac via wifi, make sure you turn Time Capsule off. If it starts running while you're streaming, it will definitely degrade performance.

  • Why can't I fast forward my podcasts?

I've just installed the new (disastrous) version of iTunes and I can't fast forward my episodes! This means that if I don't listen/watch an episode until the end and just click on something else on iTunes (for example, another episode of another podcast) I'll have to watch the whole thing again! This is most annoying, as my episodes are typically one-hour long. What is going on?
I also noticed my old episodes (the ones I intended to keep so I could watch again) are mostly gone, and I didn't have any backups because, until now, if I wanted to keep my epidodes, all I had to do was not delete them.
Seriously, I do love Mac but iTunes is really not the best thing they've ever come up with.

No, not all ... just some of the purchased music tracks, and most of those concentrated in recent releases.
Your options are to either work with ITMS Support to get your d/l tracks replaced (frequently they'll be okay on the second try, but not always), or can go through a complicated sequence of burning off to CD and then reimporting the track (which seems to almost always work).
There are multiple threads about this very issue in this and other forums; a quick use of the Search window would have given you your answer before ever having to post.

  • No chapter list in podcast / Fast Forward issues

    No chapter list in podcast.
When I listen to music and press fast forward it would go the next chapter of the podcast but now it seems it goes to the next podcast.
Is there a setting or something I am missing or not aware of?
Very annoying when I download music podcast and cannot move to the next chapter!
    ARGHHHHH

    i feel your pain.
after some messing around with siri, the music app and the podcast app. here's a solution that works (kind-of). i hate it, but i'm a subscriber of the economist too and this is the only way i know to play individual chapters.
basically if you can get music app -- note NOT the iTunes app and NOT the podcast app, but specifically your music app --, to start playing your podcast then you can see the chapter list inside that podcast.
the problem is that there is no easy way to launch your music app and point it at your podcast (how dumb is that ?). the work around i've found is to use siri. if you say 'play the economist podcast', siri uses the music app to start playing the podcast. and lo-and-behold, you can see the chapters !
hope this helps. apple really need to fix this.

  • Fast Forward will not change podcasts

When in the Podcast Folder (20 gb 4th generation) and listening to a podcast, I cannot click on the fast forward area and move to the next podcast in line. I am returned to the menu where I have to start all over again. This feature works OK in my mini-ipod. Any suggestions on solving or troubleshooting this problem. Thanks.

  • Is there a way to fast forward a podcast/music with some precision?

Is there a magnifying glass tool available to fast forward/rewind podcasts?

Yeah, but come on, that pales in comparison to the control you had with the wheel. I still can't believe that they didn't come up with some kind of touch-screen equivalent of the control you had with the wheel. Holding the button down is like chasing a moving target, although it's better than using your thumb to move the dot, which is completely worthless.
