Fast-forward through voicemails?

Quick question which I'm not sure about:  When using an IP Phone like the 6920 series for example, is it possible to skip or fast forward through voicemails (using Unity Connection )?
Thank you!

  • IPod touch suddenly fast forwarding through songs and videos + voice control screen cutting in

    Hi
In the last couple of days, it has started fast forwarding through songs and videos randomly. The voice control screen is also cutting in randomly. It happens as soon as I turn it on and play my first track or video. The only other problem I have noticed is that the volume controls on my headphones are no longer working. The headphones would be less than 6 months old and are genuine Apple ones. I don't think the problem is related because if I unplug them the fast forwarding still happens. I've tried powering it off and then re-starting it and I have been keeping the software up to date on it so I'm not sure what else I can try.
In saying that, this morning it seems to be working properly but I'm worried the problem will return. I still can't adjust the volume via the headphones though.
If anyone has any ideas about what I can do to resolve the fast forwarding problem, I would appreciate the feedback. The headphones I don't really care about because I can replace them.
I've had my iPod touch for a few years and use it pretty heavily so part of me is wondering whether it is just getting to the end of its life. I'm not sure what sort of lifespan I can expect from my iPod touch.
    Thanks

    Try:
    - Try a regular pair of headphones
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Is there a way to fast forward through audio files?  Like a lecture class I am taking?  thanks!

Is there any way to fast forward through audio files in I-Tunes?  I have some lecture recordings that I need to review....  If you cannot do it in I-Tunes, is there a program you could recommend?
    Thanks!

    You need QuickTime 7.
You can get it here -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3678?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • Unable to fast forward through podcasts

I've recently noticed that I can't fast forward through podcasts on my iPod touch, specifically with NPR All Songs Considered ones (I don't listen to any other ones, so it may not be specific to these ones). Its annoying because I can't pick up from where I left off listening. Every time I try using the bar to move through the podcast, it starts over from the beginning. Is this intentional? Is it specific to the podcast?

This is a long standing problem with iPods and appears to be specific to podcasts that get encoded using LAME, arguably the best available encoder anywhere.
From what I can tell from searching over the years, this is due to the iPod looking at a very old style header (XING) instead of the proper field in the LAME set header. This is as near as I can figure out from the posts.
This causes problems like the iPod thinks the track is shorter than it really is (a good example of this is a long MP3 like one disc of an audiobook) and stops prematurely. Very annoying.
In the case of the NPR podcasts, the bug in the iPod causes crashes when you try to fast forward or seek.
Neither of these problems appear to be related in any way to "remember playback position", so don't necessarily go down that route.
An easy way to check for this issue on a podcast is to highlight it, and then right click, select Get Info. If you see LAME as the encoding, look out, your iPod will possibly not play it correctly.
These same podcasts play back absolutely fine on any other player, and over the years it has been consistently narrowed down to a bug in the iPod.
I sure wish Apple would fix this. I just had the same problem with a recent podcast on my 2nd gen Nano, so we loaded it onto my son's brand new iPod. I thought surely Apple would have fixed this by now, but sure enough, still broke on the latest Nano version!

  • Unable to Fast Forward Through A Song Without It Restarting the Song

    Hello,
I have a new 5th generation 80gb ipod. If I attempt to fast forward through a song, it moves the clock ahead, but then restarts the song. The same also occurs if I try to rewind back in during a song. At first, I thought it was a touch issue, but it is not.
Also, when a song starts to play, the clock clicks off 3 or 4 seconds, then starts back at 0:00, but the song keeps playing normally. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Why can't I fast forward through music bought on itunes in my shuffle?

it's so weird. I purchased the new Peeping Tom cd and a Jesu Ep and when I try to fast forward through the tracks on my ipod it simply skips to the next track. All my other imported music (all from cd's) will let me do this with no problem? Do itunes tracks always do this? I've imported several albums and singles over the past 2 years but I don't recall this problem. Is this due to the QT update they issued? every time i mess with itunes it seems something goes awry. "sigh."
powermac 64, itunes 604.3, QT time update 7.1.1   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   itunes 604.3, QT time update 7.1.1

No, not all ... just some of the purchased music tracks, and most of those concentrated in recent releases.
Your options are to either work with ITMS Support to get your d/l tracks replaced (frequently they'll be okay on the second try, but not always), or can go through a complicated sequence of burning off to CD and then reimporting the track (which seems to almost always work).
There are multiple threads about this very issue in this and other forums; a quick use of the Search window would have given you your answer before ever having to post.

  • How Can I Fast Forward through clips - Any key Command?

I am watching some long clips in my event library ... I want to choose sections to move to the project library.
As the movie plays ... I can use the arrow (left and right) to slow mo forward or backward.
What I need is a key command that will give me a fast forward ... say 2 or 3 times play speed.
The only way I know to fast forward is to use the trackpad with my fingers but this way I keep losing my position on the clips and skip over rows ... you also have to drag back to the beginning of the next row and know where you are ..
To find parts of clips that you want to select and drag up to your project this seems like a necessity especially when viewing a long movie ... it's really tedious to have to drag through the whole thing.
    AM I out of luck?

    OOOpps ... sorry ... wrong forum ....

  • Current firmware let you fast forward through audio files w/ virtual button

I know it didn't allow you to fast forward/rewind using the virtual buttons with earlier firmware. I do that all the time on my 5.5G iPod to skip through commercials.
I think with earlier firmware that functionality worked on video, but for some reason NOT audio.
Also, if the Touch turns off, or you switch programs or something, does it "remember" what you were playing last when you go back to the audio player program? Or would I get stuck drilling through menus every single time I do something else or it switches off?

My first guess is that the camera is set to 12bit audio. OnLocation handles that correctly sometimes, but it other times it basically assumes 16bit audio, which produces a Chipmunks effect. To the best of my recollection, however, when the player is in that funky state, only the audio is affected; there's no stutter or fast play of the video. So you may be running into a different problem entirely, but let's start by ruling out the 12bit explanation. To check this, you can either find the setting on the camera or check the metadata in OL--just type "Audio Sample Type" in the Metadata panel's search box.

  • IPOD Nano Shuts Down When Fast-Forwarding Through Songs

I am having an odd but unfortunately repeated problem: I have my iPOD set on "shuffle songs" which shuffles my entire library. Sometimes when fast-forwarding from one song to the next, the screen goes black and the Apple logo comes on. The iPOD restarts fine though. I would appreciate any insight you might have...not sure if I should call Apple or if its something thats known as a nano quirk.
    Thanks!

    Hi wackydream!
This has happened to me before, too, (quite rarely, though. Once, maybe twice).
It would just be an out-of-the-blue kind of thing that never returned.
But with your kind of issue, you could first try resetting your iPod, and see if that makes any difference with the issue:
First, toggle your iPod's "Hold" switch back and forth a couple of times (make sure to leave it on the white side of the switch).
Then, press and hold the Menu and Select (center) buttons together for 5-10 seconds.
If several attempts at resetting don't help, then I would suggest that you try restoring your iPod in iTunes.

  • I am editing an idvd slideshow to have some of the music selections from itunes fade out at the end of each vacation segment using music reflecting the country visited.  Is there a way to fast-forward the slideshow to observe the where the music ends.

I am editing an idvd slideshjow to have some of the music selections fade out at the end of each vacation segment.  Is there a way I can fast-forward through the slideshow so I can see where the music is ending and adjust the time to end properly?  (without repeatedly clicking the forward button on the e-remote)

Thanks very much, varjak paw.  I checked half a dozen tracks on my iMac from different albums which did not copy over, plus several which did copy over.  They all show the same location:
Users/Christina/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Brandenburg Concertos etc. (one example)
What does this mean relative to the music which didn't copy? Is there another step?  or somewhere else I should look?
And wow, thanks for the info about not having legal right to keep the tracks from the CDs.  I am embarrassed that I didn't know.  I gave most of my CDs to my sister. Before I delete all this highly prized music (400-500 tracks) -- if I get the CDs back from her and keep them at my house, can I continue to keep those tracks on my iMac?  (Sister does not have iTunes or even know what an mp3 is, so it's not like she has copied or imported the CDs -- I just didn't realize I needed to retain possession.)
Or do I still need to remove all that music from my library?
Thank you again for your help.
    C.

  • Can't fast forward songs

    Hello,
I got the rent cast recording, and had to convert it to mp3 since it was in some other weir format, and whenever I try to fast forward through the songs, the track skips to the next one. I have tried to remove the files, and put them back, etc. I'd prefer not to restore my phone, but if I must I will later. The same also happens with my Lion King cast recording. If anyone knows how to fix this problem, that'd be nice. Thank you!

I've tried scrolling through with my finger on the scrub thingy, I've tried it with the headset, and I've held the skip button down, and after about 10 seconds it skips to the next track. It only happens with 2 albums though which is the weird part.

  • TS5181 Help... Itunes Radio on Fast Forward

My itunes radio is fast forwarding through all songs and only playing ads on all the stations.  I have closed the app at tuned the device off/on without success.  It was working fine prior to downloading the saftey fix last night.  Any recommendations?

What country are you in ? It's currently only available in the US, if you are in the US then try tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and log out of it and then log back in, and/or try a soft-reset (i.e. a reboot) by pressing and holding both the home and sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds after which the Apple logo should appear

  • Problem with fast forward of trackball in media player of 8330

I'm a fairly new BB owner of a Sprint 8330 Curve.  I've checked the newbies site on Crackberry and checked here also.  Can anyone help with this problem:
I've downloaded some MP3 audiobooks from my local public library.  They play fine, but the problem is that it always starts at the beginning every time.  The book is in multiple parts, each of which is 60 minutes long, each of which is treated as a single song.  I can see the reverse, pause, and fast forward buttons but I can't get the trackball to work with them.
When I scroll the trackball to the right to fast forward, it scrolls to the next part of the book, not within the same part (song).  When I scroll the trackball left, it goes back to the last song.  When I scroll it up or down, the whole playlist shows up on the screen and I can scroll through those.
I found one post that talked about how to fast forward video, but it showed a different screen that mine.
I just can't get the trackball to position itself on the progress bar or on the controls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

I've got the same problem with my BlackBerry 8330.  I have v4.5.0.169 (Platform 3.4.0.51). Once i start an audio file, I am unable to select the scroll bar above the play so that I can fast forward through the song, book, etc.

  • New apple keyboard 2007 likes to fast-forward by itself

I recently set up my PowerBook as a desktop computer with external monitor, keyboard and mouse, while always leaving the PowerBook shut. My keyboard is the new thin apple keyboard and it seems to work fine after installing the update except that some times iTunes will just start fast forwarding through 4 or 5 songs before finally stopping, This usually happens when I'm not even sitting at the computer, so there is no input into the mouse or keyboard. It seems to be fairly random. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your replies. Ok, so the transport keys can control iTunes, even if it isn't the active application? That's what I've always wanted to do.
And the 2nd working USB port sounds great. It's always frustrated me that I couldn't plug my 1GB USB Flash Drive directly into the keyboard. Now I can do it without fiddling around on the back of the iMac.
You said Expose uses the F3 key, but Expose typically has 3 different functions: All Windows, All Applications and Desktop. How do you these 3 things with the new Apple Keyboard?
