Fast movement appears choppy in Dvd

Hello,
I have a project that I made in sony vegas and then rendered as an mpg, then imported into Encore.  This same project I had also created in adobe premiere, rendered as an m2v, then imported into Encore (but now I am unable to export it from premiere.. I just had to change computers to a computer that does not have premiere).
When I view the project within Encore, it seems fine, but when I view the burned Dvd, the parts of the movie that involve fast character movements appear choppy (that is the best word to describe it.. it's like there is not good blending between the frames or something)
I am not positive what the issue is here.  I previously had the m2v file exported from premiere, like i said, and when I burned that, it seemed fine.. but I was using a different dvd burner at that time.  Now I am using a different computer, different dvd burner, and an mpg file that I created with Sony Vegas instead.  However, both video files look the same when i view them in Encore.
If this is an issue with my dvd burner, what do you suggest I do? My next plan of action is to create an iso image with encore and try to burn that with another software.  What do you think?
Thanks for the help!

The bit-rate out of Vegas needs to be higher. Not sure of how Vegas allows control of Exports, but I would increase the bit-rate for the Export.
Test from En with DVD RW discs, so you do not burn "coasters."
Good luck,

  • Fast movement distorting in HD music video (CS4)

Hey everyone! I've made a music video in Premiere CS4, and I want to export it as an MPEG2 file (because I will be burning it to DVD in Encore CS4 to play on TV). The exported video looks great, except... when there is fast movement on the screen, the image becomes jumpy and distorted.
The video was shot in high definition (1440 by 1080 pixels) at 25 frames per second. I want the DVD to play on a PAL system.
The export settings for the file are:
    Format: MPEG2
    Preset: 1440x1080i 25 high quality.
    Quality: 5
    TV standard: PAL
All the other settings I have left as is.
If someone knows how to export HD files without getting this distortion during fast movement, that would be fantastic. Should I be exporting as a different file type (surely MPEG2 is okay)? I suspect it might have something to do with the settings in Basic Video Settings.
Thanks a lot for your time!
    -Robert

Hey Jim, thanks for answering my post. I did as you suggested, and exported as an MPEG-2 DVD. I'm still getting distortion during any fast movement, but now the distortion appears more in bands across the moving figures, and is less jumpy. I got a similar distortion effect on fast movement when I exported in H.264/YouTube Widescreen HD. When I look at the original video files from the camera, there is no distortion, the images move smoothly. I suspect that it is something about the way premiere is interpreting the footage as it exports that is causing the problem... Interestingly, I am having the same distortion problems with another music video that I shot in HD, but I have never had this problem with standard definition video footage... Could it be something about the nature of HD video files?
If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them.
    Thanks for your time.

If you're going to DVD, you'll need DVD resolution.  For PAL that means 720 x 576.
Reexport using an MPEG-2 DVD preset.

  • I ordered an On Demand Movie ... But The WRONG MOVIE Appeared !

We had decided to watch "Shutter Island". Searched for it by title and found it on the On Demand list. Clicked on the "OK" button to rent the film. But the wrong movie appeared! Something named "The Call". Pessed the stop button. Next the screen returned to a menu display that read on the right side of the screen "Shutter Island" followed by desription... "Directed Martin Scorsese,""starring Leonardo Diapprio," etc.  But a poster on the left side of the screen showed another movie completely, one named "The Call".
I searched again for the title "Shutter Island."  This time I noticed that there were TWO movies listed as "Shutter Island." One displayed the wrong poster again, "The Call". The second on the list showed the correct poster for the film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. So I rented it, knowing that I'll br double-billed, and will now have to remember to check my bill and then call and argue with Verizon billing people.
    What a PITA.

OK.  Now that makes sense and that's what I figured.  I will stick with my DVDs.  My DVD player still works very well and I have no intention of replacing it unless it goes.
I am really not a fan of *not* having a physical hard copy of music on a CD or a movie on DVD.  OK, so a movie you buy "on demand" gets stored on Verizon's servers but then what happens if there is a problem with the server or if you have to stop doing business with Verizon Fios because you move to an area where only cable is available?  Then what?  At least with a hard copy, it's always mine, it's durable, it can last forever, I can watch it anytime, and I will always have it to view regardless of what kind of system I have.  I think it's a lot nicer too to have a physical collection of music and movies.  It's tangible and it makes a statement about ourselves.
I think the quality of CD music is far superior than music that gets downloaded from Pandora and even with physical DVDs, I find they're much easier to control (with the pause and fast forwarding) on a DVD player. With an on demand movie that I rent, the pause button will only stay on for so long or if I stop the movie and come back to watching it later, I still often have to fast foward and back track to where I left off.
I'm only mentioning this because there are pros and cons to any technological innovation and I don't believe that "newer" is necessarily better.  And far as having a hard copy is concerned, think of the reasons why we back up the files on our hard drives and why even in college, I always saved my papers on the hard drive and on a floppy disk.  OK, so now we have "flash drives" but in my honest opinion, the logic of keeping a hard copy for the long haul is really still the same in the end.
    It's just food for thought.

  • I need to know the best, safest way to convert video for Mac.  I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.

I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.  This is for a Christmas present!  Help.

I don't think you need to use a ripper program to read a home movie DVD. Those are primarily for copy-protected commercial DVDs, right?
I think you just need to transcode the DVD files using a utility like Handbrake, which is free and fast.

  • Can Movies be burned to DVD?

Can movies be burned to DVD in new iTunes 7 ? Thanks

You see, this is why I was excited about iTunes 7. Until the player comes out, there's no point in buying movies unless you have the space on your ipod (and money) to have multiple copies of the same movie in different formats.
Same reason why I don't understand UMD on the PSP. A portable DVD player would be just as useful.
I can burn protected audio files to CD and use elsewhere, why not TV shows and movies?
I apologize for simply ranting, though I do appreciate that somebody had the answer to this as being no (currently).
Apple is all about freedom, this seems to be a step in the wrong direction.
Everything else about iTunes 7 appears amazing. Just highly disappointing, I suppose. I was done buying DVDs at the store if this had been a yes...

  • I rented a movie on my iPad. It began to download but then it disappeared. The movie appears in my rented videos, but when I click it, it says, "video rented but not downloaded. Go to downloads to manage downloads". Where did my downloads go?

I rented a movie on my iPad. It began to download but then it disappeared. I freed up a ton of storage space to make sure I had the room for it. The movie appears in my rented videos, but when I click it, it says, "video rented but not downloaded. Go to downloads to manage downloads". Where did my downloads go? I re-booted my iPad, signed off/on iTunes etc. I can't find a folder with downloadable items anywhere. ITunes just tells me, "you've already rented this video. Do you want to rent it again?" What happened to my movie?

Did you check the Videos app?

  • How to track the fast movement camera (close shot)

the shot is close to green screen and fast movement and camera cut off from the markers.
any ideas how to fix this ? i knew i mignt need to shoot again but its impossible cuz of the actors are not here anymore. so i must fix it.
any recommend plugin or technique ?

This shot will not track with any software I know of.
There are a host of problems that should teach you a valuable lesson. First, to automatically track you need fixed unique geometry that is big enough to grab at least 100 pixels of detail from. That means at least 10 X 10 pixels. There is nothing in the background of your shot in any frame except for a couple of tracking markers that come close to bing big enough to track. To do Camera Tracking you need to establish at least 2 planes that are far enough to calculate perspective and parallax changes. Your shot does not contain even one of the elements required to do camera tracking.
The only planes in your shot are the  net in the background and the ned in the goal. Motion blur and fine lines in these two planes give you nothing to track. You also zoomed out from frame 7 to frame 12. NEVER EVER ZOOM if you are planning to replace a background or do a camera track. Especially, NEVER snap zoom. It is nearly impossible for camera tracking software to calculate a camera zoom when the zoom introduces blur. A snap zoom and fast pan is nearly impossible to track in the best of circumstances.
It's also going to be impossible to pull a clean key because the net in the background has a bunch of black lines on it and the white net in the goal gets completely blurred out in a great deal of the shot.
Just a little pre-production planning and some story boards would have saved the day. You have created a situation where your only option is to roto your actor and the goal frame, then recreate the net and the background by hand. What should have been a half hour in post is going to turn into a couple of days unless you redesign the entire shot to be something way more stylized. There's so much noise in the shot from the nets and the motion blur that RotoBrush will not track anything but a single frame. You are going to have to cut out your actor by hand and rebuild the background and adjust the position, rotation and scale by hand a frame at a time. Don't count on making any money on this shot. There isn't enough detail anywhere in this shot to even stabilize the shot to make it easier to roto. I tried.
If it were my project I would either leave out this shot or roto the actor, throw in a bunch of lighting effects and completely forget reality to turn this shot into a graphic instead of a movie.

  • Can you burn multible movies on one bluray dvd disc with final cut pro

how to burn two completed quick time movies to blu ray dvd with final cut pro? Ive tried but wont play

    Mark,
Welcome to the wild and wacky world of DVD's and Mpeg2!
Here are a few things that might help.
it seems to want everything as a QT. This presents size limitations.
Not really, iDVD simply takes the QT files that you feed it and uses its own compressor to encode them to mpeg2 files. As long as your source material is not over 2 hours iDVD can handle it.
I'm planning to export from fcp using Compressor in the hope of fitting everything onto one disc
You can do this, but you might find it simpler to simply export a QT reference movie from FCP and drag that into DVDSP. DVDSP will then use compressor to create the mpeg2 files that you need. I say this because some find compressor a little intimidating at first. (I know that I still do.)
Now, go find the manuals that came with your software and start reading, DVDSP is a powerful program and the manuals are the best place to start.
    Good luck!

  • Burning slideshows/movies on to one dvd and how do you do it?

I would like to know if you can burn several "slideshow / movies" onto a single DVD and how it's done. I am using Photoshop Premier Elements 8.

Yes it can be done by outputting each slideshow as separate clips and then bringing the clips together to form a single project for DVD output.
You will probably get better advice over at the Premier Elements forum.

I was trying to burn a DVD from files in a burn folder. They were pictures from my Nikon camera. I can play videos and movies from the same dvd player.    Thanks for any help you can offer,

    Thanks for your reply:
I did find an error log related to the error code and tried all suggestions on the list of recommendations, still no luck
I definitely am running OS X10.5.8 (hopefully will be updating later on this month)
I tried several brand new discs from the same box, still no luck.
My last option is to go out and try a different brand, guess I'll go with Verbatim this time but I think I'll poke around some more before buying 20 more new discs.

  • Titles on linked Pr sequence not appearing on Encore DVD?

I have a sequence linked from Pr pro CS5 to Encore CS5. I have added titles to video track two in the Pr sequence. They link up just fine in En. When I preview disc in En, the titles come in and fade out just as planned. All looks great. However, when I burn the project to DVD, there are no titles on the DVD??? I saved the Pr project, even rendered it prior to creating DVD in En CS5. I have done this process twice. Both times no titles on DVD. What am I missing??
Thanks very much for advice. This is a once a year project, so sorry I have to re-learn many things again...and again.
    Kenny

    UPDATE:
Anyone have any ideas of things I could test? As I stated, the disc when played in my PC shows the titles, just not on two different stand alone DVD players I have?
Stan, you mentioned source/sequence settings? Is there something specific I could provide?
So you know what I did to create these titles. In Pr, working with the sequence I have dynamically linked to En in the timeline. In Project panel, new item, title. Then edit title and drag to video track two in timeline, set keyframes for fade in/out.
To make my next title, in title edit window, New Title Based on Current Title, rename it, edit, drag that to timeline etc.
These titles show in En when previewing disc and on burned disc played on PC as stated.
    Stuck in the mud?
    Thanks for any/all suggestions!

I would build to a folder and see if that plays correctly on the computer.  (Rule out disk/burning issues.)
Do a small test project if the files are large, but bring the same bit out of Premiere with no fades on the titles.  Do they burn?
I wonder about your source/sequence settings.
I always find such problems very odd.

  • Exporting video/movies to burn to DVD

Trying to figure out how to export videos/movies to a compatable DVD. Currently the videos/movies play through Quicktime player that are in my iPhoto library. When I select the videos I want to export the iDVD option along with the Export option goes away. Tried to select burn disc and all it did was burn the first frame of every video and nothing more. You're better off by creating a data DVD through the Finder or elsewhere than attempting to use iDVD or similar software to create a video DVD. Locate the video files in the Finder and burn them as you would any other file.
