Fast searching across shared schemas?

Is there a way to efficiently search on common elements of XML documents using different schema's?
Example:
A BASIC schema with elements A,B,C. An EXTENDED schema which imports the BASIC schema namespace and adds fields X,Y,Z.
Can the shared elements (A,B,C) of the two schemas be shredded into the same table to facilitate fast searching over common elements?
We are looking at using XML DB for a "profile" retrieval system containing 2,000,000 XML docs of size 5-15Kb spanning 20 different schemas.
XML would hopefully provide long-range flexibility for handling the various profile requirements and leaving the complexities of indexing and searching to the XML indexing engine.
Any suggestions or comments as to XML DB suitability appreciated.
Thanks,
Blythe

  • Problems with Spotlight searching of shared volumes

According to: http://www.apple.com/macosx/features/300.html#spotlight, I should be able to "...search any connected Mac with Personal File Sharing enabled or a file server that’s sharing its files."
It doesn't specify what "file server", so I presume it means Spotlight should be able to search any mounted shared volume (assuming, of course, that indexing has been enabled).
I have a NAS device that I want to be able to search with Spotlight. According to mdutil, the volume is enabled for indexing, but I don't see any results when I search under "Shared" in Finder via Cmd+F. (I checked, and there's no .Spotlight folders on the volume.)
From what I recall, under Tiger you could manually specify a network volume to index, but if you dismounted the volume, you'd have to re-enable indexing on next mount. This worked for other file systems (such as Fat32 & NTFS), as well as for HFS+ drives.
According to mdutil in Leopard, the volume is still enabled for indexing even across dismounts. The NAS drive is not HFS+ formatted, but uses XFS.
I've tried deleting the index, to no avail.
Has anyone successfully used Spotlight to search mounted volumes on volumes not shared via another Mac?
    Am I missing something?

  • Keyword search across multiple folders

Is it possible to do keyword searches across multiple folders and drives in Bridge CS3? On disk I have organised my images by geographical location, but want to keyword them and search for them by theme. This will cut across several drives each with numerous folders and sub-folders. All the drives, folders and sub-folders are on the same pc, which is a stand alone machine and not networked.

With Bridge it will search multiple folders on the same drive, but don't think you can search across multiple drives (I read you can with Lightroom).
The search goes down the directory tree starting where you tell it. So therefore, start high enough to include all folders you want to look in.
If you have Vista you could search across multiple drives if they are indexed. Advanced search allows multiple keywords (tags), and it is very fast, much faster than Bridge.

  • Sharepoint Fast Search vs SQL server fulltext index

They are very, very different beasts.
Firstly FAST Search for SharePoint is the old name for the product and is only relevant for SharePoint 2010 not 2013. It got merged into the standard SharePoint search for the 2013 release.
SharePoint search is aimed at providing a Bing or Google like experience for your intranet content, as well as providing some nifty features that are purely SharePoint releated along the way. That means it can crawl SharePoint content, file shares,
outlook mailboxes, internal and external websites and probably fifty other different things if you really tried. Whilst i'm not an expert on SQL full text search I believe it's intended to provide a search feature for content held within SQL databases
    and tables.
Can you run SharePoint purely for Search? Yes, definitely.

  • KB2687455 (SP2 for Office 2010) Breaks Outlook Searches of Shared Contacts/Calendars

Hello, everyone! I would love to know if anyone else is experiencing these issues.
I am an IT Network Technician for several clients that have had issues searching in shared contacts and/or calendars in Outlook 2010. These users are using Office 2010 in Citrix/Remote Desktop Services environments. When these servers automatically
download and install KB2687455, the users can no longer perform searches in shared contacts/calendars. They receive an error stating, "The requested Upon removing this update, and having the user close and re-open Outlook, the search functionality is
restored. Surprisingly, a reboot is not required to restore searching.
Is Microsoft aware of this issue? If so, what is being done to correct it? If not, is anyone else experiencing similar symptoms?
Our firm has already observed similar failure of the search functionality in Outlook 2010 due to the installation of another Windows Update, KB2956128. The issues with that update are already well-documented, based on a preliminary Google search,
and we have blocked the installation of that update, where possible, until we are informed of a fix for it from Microsoft. Any information on the repair of that update would also be much appreciated.

    Hi,
Both KB2956128 and KB2956203 seem to cause this issue to some of our users, as you mentioned KB2956128, have you checked KB2956203? If you have installed this KB, uninstall it to check the result.
If it is KB2956203, we have been aware of some issues caused by the recent updates, and would like to collect more information for further investigation.
Can you guys share your detailed system info? Also, if you have any log files about the issue, kindly share with us by sending them to this email account:

We appreciate your assistance with this.

  • AQ Callback across two Schemas

I'm trying to get AQ Callback working across 2 Schemas. I have it working fine when all is contained in a single Schema but when I split it out across 2 Schemas I get no messages dequeued. I'll post the code once I've had a chance to sanitise it but here's a summary of what we're doing:
    1. Type created in Schema A - this will be the message payload.
    2. Grant all on Type to Schema B.
    3. Create Queue and Q Tab and Start Q in Schema A.
    4. Create Enqueue Procedure in Schema A.
    5. Create Dequeue Procedure in Schema B.
    6. Add Subscriber (from Schema A, but that should be incidental)
    7. Register the Callback (from Schema A) so that Schema B Dequeue Procedure is invoked via Callback.
If I enqueue a message from Schema A is just sits on the queue forever.
I'm convinced it's a permissions/privileges thing but I can't work it out. If anyone has experienced this before I'm very interested in any advice you have!
    Cheers,
    Pete

    Hi,
I am also facing a similar issue. Is it required all the AQ infrastructure (Message tables, queues, enqueue and dequeue functions) be in the same schema? Below is my code, If I remove the schema qualifier - 'reddypr_rms01' from the below code, enqueue works fine, but it never dequeues. If I use the schema names then everything works fine.
The database is structured as follows, all my application tables, procedures etc is in schema 'rms01'. These objects are just synonyms in the schema 'reddypr_rms01'. I have created the AQ modules locally in reddypr_rms01.

  • Why doesn't Search across files work in web dynpro perspective?

    Hello,
I rely on the Files Tab of the Search popup a lot to search for occurence of text in files.
So far, I've been doing all J2EE development and the Search functionality works great in the J2EE perspective. What I do is select the Development Component (DC) in Package explorer view and then bring up the search box. On there I select File tab and the "selected resource" radio button. I leave the File Name patterns as "*" so it'll search all files.
However, when I try that in the Web Dynpro perspective it doesn't find any hits. I know I can do a search across the whole workspace but that'll return too many hits in other DCs.
Anyone have an idea how to do this in Web Dynpro perspective?

I remember that I once opened an OSS message on this issue. What version has your IDE?

  • Application object content search across multiple (many) objects

    Hi guys,
I have about 500 application objects and one of these is pushing through
    a bad registry setting.
I know what the setting is, but how do I search across all of them quickly.
    Thank you,

The easiest thing to do is to search c:NALCACHE for the string desired.
I don't have ZEN at my current location so I can't be 100% sure, but I
believe much of the info in these cache files is stored in pseudo
english so a search may work.
The info is stored in DS in a manner that is less easily retrievable.
(I.E., Pull up DSReports and browse the object, you will not see all of
    the entries.)
As I am thinking, at my last job I ran a nightly routine that exported
all apps to AOTs using the ZFD3 toolkit and than ran another tool from
the kit to convert the AOTs to AXTs. Then I could do an easy file find
on all of my apps. The list of apps was generated using a tool from
JRBSoftware. I don't have the script anymore, but is you are skilled at
scripting, that may give you an idea for something that my become a
    multi-purpose tool for you.

  • Only crawling one list not whole site collection in FAST Search 2010 for SP

Hi, I have one site collection and created different Lists inside it. Now I'd like to add some lists to the Content Source for FAST crawling. Everything fine but the search result includes other Lists that not added to the content source.
I know that we can add exclude rule to FAST Search, but it's difficult to add them all and we will create more lists in near future. We only need few lists to be crawled, so is there a solution for this issue?
    Thank you.

    Hi JOSHUA,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to make Fast Search only show results from the specified lists.
I recommend to create search scopes for SharePoint Fast Search and then you can filter the results by using the search scopes.
More information about creating search scopes in SharePoint Fast Search for you to take a look:

  • Microsoft FAST Search Server 2010 - Searching numbers

Here is the scenario. I have some documents each has a number in the content. The number is 10 digits long and the  number contain leading zeros but the length will not be more than 10 digits. e.g. 0000123456
Once I index the documents in FAST Search (not MS Enterprise Search) I want to search for any number without adding the leading zeros in the search query.
Unless otherwise I enter the full number(with leading zeros), search will not give the document. Does anyone has similar experience and if so what was the approach you followed in order to solve it?
    Thanks,
    Kolitha de Silva ----------------- www.dkolitha.com / dkolitha.wordpress.com

    Kolitha,
Assuming that the field is a string, you can try to use proximity operators especially if you know the last digits for example:
    field:ends-with ("123456")
Alternatively, may be you can try:
    NOT(field:starts-with("0000"))
