Fast video after capture

I have looked but have not found out how to resolve this problem.
I am capturing video from a JVC CyberCam (1800's model) Any way, through fire wire. I have been capturing video just fine but now after I capture the video and play it it is running super fast. So I captured it again with a timecode printed on it and sure enough it will capture 3 to 4 frames (I think) and then skip two.
Any thoughts?

Here are some properties for the test clip I just captured. I reset the Easy Setup to see if i could default back for my capture, still nothing and it still skipps three frames. It plays fast like this if I play the captured video in just quicktime too. The camera is an old one, JCV GR-DVF10. I have composites coming out of it to a Formac Capture box thing. It comes out of that box through a fire to go to my computer. Any that has all stayed the same to my knowledge but I will play with that too.

My audio gets out of sync with my video after capturing from Sony XDCAM

Audio offset from video after capturing

another issue i am having is at random when i capture, the audio is off by about .23 secs. i can fix it by cutting the audio and shifting it over, but is there a way to prevent this?

Do you have "abort capture on dropped frames" and "create new clip on timecode break" preferences enabled? If not, you may have synch problems and you will probably not be able to recapture accurately.

The fast movement video on capture is jerking, actual not in the tape. please help any setting required

The Fast movement videos whicle capture is jerking and is not smooth . iam using HP Z600 workstation with Nvidia Quadro 4000 graphics card and Matrox Mojito card for I/O.

Ok, so here's the update. After many sleepless nights, finally some good news
I removed my Firewire hub and connected only the capture device to the computer. I then did a capture test to the internal memory on the same tapes I had tried before and it worked beautifully. NO BREAK IN CADENCE (I can hardly believe it). Then, I connected only the external memory drive to the working firewire port on my computer. That also worked.
So David, you were right. I think I was overloading my working firewire entrance with the hub. But, I have been told that my computer will not accept a firewire card. So I have decided to capture loads of footage onto my internal with the capture device connected to my computer and then connect my external hard drive to the computer and import these files from the internal. Even though it's more work, it is all I can manage right now (the project cannot afford a new computer...)

Audio and video out of sync after capture from Canon

Help for a newbie please? I have a Canon XHA1S and have a problem after capturing HD video. After capturing a 40 minute clip, the audio and video are out of sync. Seems like there is about a 3 second difference. The entire clip is like that in the source window; I made a couple of quick edits and have the same problem in the program window. Tried exiting and re-opening PP, but that didn't help. I'm running PP in CS6 on an iMac 3.4 GHz i7 with 8G of ram. Thanks!

Audio Video out of sync after Capture

I've read thru the Discussions posted but can't seem to find the exact same problem....
This has happened in both FCP5 and FCP6..
Last nite I captured wedding video into FCP6 from 2 identical cams with identical settings..The 1st Capture (18:00) went OK but the 2nd Capture of the same duration showed a window and transport bar. It stated something to the extent "analyzing audio". It's done this in the past and every time it occurs the audio is exactly 30frames off. The video precedes the audio by 1 second. It's easy to re-sync the two but annoying when it happens.
I'm capturing both videos into the same document so no settings change and the problem is not specific to just one camera. It has happened on both cams. I'm using the same tape deck to capture both videos and the same mini-DV tape brand.
Anyone have any thoughts?

To nomadesign: I've not tried that. I use the tape deck to reduce wear on the heads of the camera. If I knew which clips would have this prob then I could use the cam which originally shot the vid. I guess I could go back and re-capture the footage which slipped out of sync using the cam which shot it just for a test.
To 2reverb: the video was captured at 48khz. When I first got the cams they were default set to (is it 34 or 36khz) and i discovered the prob very rapidly so I corrected the cams right then.

It sounds like your screen recording is doing what it was designed to do, capture what is happening on your screen, with optional voice over with the microphone.
Screen recording is for recording what you see on the screen, it is not a "video capture" option, like for capturing a movie with sound that is playing on your screen.

Video files captured with FCP 7 appear to be text files in the finder!

I've recently updated to FCP Studio 3 and am having a strange problem with HDV video that I have captured. The video shows up in the browser and plays in the timeline just fine, but I am unable to send any footage to Motion. I get an error saying that the file is missing. I cant even import directly from within Motion because the video files aren't even visible to the program! I am also unable to use any of the video files in drop zones in Master Templates in FCP. If I navigate to my footage in the finder, the files appear as text files. Yet if i double click on one, it opens in Quicktime and plays. This happens whether I capture video with the apple intermediate codec or any of the new Pro Res codecs.
I should mention that I had no problems before i updated. Help!

Another work around: after capturing in Pro Res, when you look at your clips in the browser, when you label them add .mov to the end of the label. Then modify>rename>file to match clip. This will convert file on your scratch disc from tesxt file to .mov QT file which you can then use in other applications.

Looping audio after capture

I'm capturing into CS3 premiere pro - Cannon Vixia HV30 and HV40 cameras, HDV 1080i30 (i60) project settings.
When playing the video in the timeline after capture, the audio in many spots loops and repeats on itself. The raw captured video when played via a media player works fine. Any suggestions on audio settings or a fix for this problem. Attached is a screen capture of my project settings.

My media is mini dv tape with 16 bit audio.
What setting are you using in Final Cut Express 3.5?
Under Easy Setup I have used DV NTSC
Sequence Preset: DV NTSC 48kHz
Capture Preset: DV NTSC 48kHz
Device Control Preset: Firewire NTSC Basic
Playback Output video: None

What computer are you using?
Power PC G5, Proc. 1.6 gHz, Mem. 2.25 GB DDR SDRAM, OS X10.4.9, Phantom Drive External 500 G conected by USB cable.
Camera is a Sony DCR VX2100 mini DV tape connected via Firewire.

Weird issue (can't see all video after importing to FCP)

Dear board members!
I have a number of files, which were digitized with FCP. Due to a high number of timecode breaks, they were digitized with "abort ETT/PTV on dropped frames" and "abort capture on dropped frames" checked off. Also "on timecode break" was set to "warn after capture".
Now the issue. If I open these files in finder (with QT player), I can see all of digitized video (i.e. 36 minutes) for each of these files. In FCP (even if I import them once again to a new project) I can see only a portion of these files (first few minutes), i.e. it doesn't show me anything after the first time-code break.
Any suggestions?

If you don't want to deal with recapturing them (the best way to deal with the breaks at capture might be to enable "create new on TC breaks" - "warn after" will create the situation you have now)
anyway, you can probably save reference or self-contained movies from QT player that FCP will be able to import.

Problem with previewing video when capturing

I recently had to reinstall FCP onto my Powerbook and since doing this the following problem has occured:
When I open the log and capture window the program recognises my DV deck and plays the footage fine. However, when I start to capture the footage, the video preview is disabled - it freezes on the 1st frame. The video is capturing fine and when I check the audio preview box I am able to listen to the audio whilst capturing, but I can usually preview the video as well.
In the audio / video settings the 'capture card supports simultaneous play through and capture' boxis checked - and as I say, this was fine before re-installing.
Presumably this is as simple as a preference that has not been altered since I re-installed the program?
If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

It is highy likely that quicktime is wacky after the FCP reinstall.
go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say quicktime followed by a number (eg Quicktime652.pkg)
Go to the Quicktime download web site and download the correct version for your OS and FCP version.
Reinstall.
Reboot.
Repair permissions.
Good luck.

AUDIO LOST AFTER CAPTURE

Hi all. I am capturing from a panasonic gs 400 which indicates 16 bit audio captured ok. Tape plays back fine in camera with full audio. I have checked my settings on fce and they seem fine, pal 16 bit audio.
When I start to capture the audio registers ok in the right hand audio meter. After I capture and play the clip in the viewer/timeline there is no audio at all. Running short of ideas to fix it, any clues?

I am using FCE 2.0.3
I have captured video and audio before without any problems.
The audio file appears in the timeline but there is nothing in it, the visuals are fine.
It plays fine in the viewer and registers on the meter but there is no audio after capture.
I do not seem to have the View menu>Video out etc, my system just shows view> video>reatime or firewire.

Premiere Freezes After Capture

After capturing footage on an HDV miniDV from my camera the screen pretty much goes white. It's right after the "Save Captured Clip" box comes up and I name the clip. It seems to have a problem closing the capture window and loading the new clip into the project box.
Also, after capture and after clicking OK in the "Save Captured Clip" box a window pops up telling me there was a problem with video playback. But since I was able to hit cancel after the first time it pops up after capturing and continue on to the "Save Captured Clip" box, I figured it wasn't too big of a deal that I not be able to see the footage in the capture screen.
A completely usable clip is successfully saved to my scratch that I can edit. But I don't want this happening every time I want to capture.
My Workflow:
Turn my computer on.
Connect my camcorder through firewire.
Turn camcorder to VCR mode.
Open Premiere.
Open or start a project.
Open the capture window.
Click the record button.
Click the stop button. (a window comes up telling me there was a problem with video playback but it keeps going anyway)
The "Save Captured Clip" box comes up and I name it and click OK (the window telling me there was a problem with video playback comes up again)

Video screen Capturing compatible with FCP!!!

Hello,
I recently captured a lot of footage using Snapz Pro X to create a tutorial for a website. After importing it into FCP, it wants to render everything, all the time, for every small change. These render take hours and hours for the smallest change. What should I do? The Snapz Pro X quicktime files are not FCP compatible. Is there a new program to get high quality video screen captures or a way to convert the files I have now? Any help would be extremely great.

In iShowU I am recording at 1440x1080 30p, and capture area is same as video. Then I am importing the quicktime files into FCP. The sequence settings are Apple ProRes 422 1440x1080 60i. Capture Preset is HDV -Apple ProRes 422. The sequence settings are Frame Size 1440x1080 as well as aspect ratio. Something somewhere is off and its driving me mad. haha
