FastBuild RAID setup wont allow me to create array (grayed-out) HELP!

When I go into the FastBuild RAID menu, everything is grayed out. My drives show up, but they cant be select. These drives were formated. I tried to format again, but the Win 7 setup wont allow me to do it again (grayed-out).
in the "view drive assignments" menu, my two drives say "<single disk>" under "assignment". In the manual it acts like it should say, "free".
in the "define LD" menu the drives show up as well, but everything is grayed-out. Under "assignment" it says, "N" and I cant change it to "Y".
These drives used to be set up as a RAID on my old system and Im really stumped as what to do to make it work.

The two disks are the WD740GD-00FLC0 and the WD740GD-00FLA1. (both SATA I) I had them in RAID before with my 6 year old Mobo and win XP.
The RAID utility doesn't register it as an array in FastBuild under option 2 or 3. It shows up before the splash screen on startup when RAID does it diagnostic check showing my two drives saying they're healthy. The problem is it just wont let me select them in FastBuild (it shows them, but grayed out)
Clearing CMOS didn't help. I may try to download and flash the BIOS??
This is all very frustrating as my old system had this up and running... but thanks for the help and any future help!
Update: I went ahead and installed windows on one the the drives so I can use the PC, but Im still wanting to put them in RAID, Id hate to reformat and everything to find out it still doesnt work...

"Create outlines" grayed out for text-- what is the RIGHT option??

Hey all,
So here's what happened. I created an image for a print template in PS (which I use all the time) and then used file-place to bring the image into the AI version of the template. (I don't use AI very often...) I knew that it might not be a good idea to bring in the text, so I didn't. Instead, I recreated the text in AI, selecting it with the text tool to change font size, etc. Each of the three pieces of text is on a separate outline. The next step is supposed to be to convert the text to outlines, but you guessed it, the "create outlines" option is grayed out.
The text is Titre font (I tried a few others and it didn't seem to make any difference.) The version for both PS and AI is CS5.
I've spent a lot of time searching for the solution online, but the problem is that there seem to be about a gazillion different possible options for what might work. Given the parameters here (created text in AI, selected with text tool, using separate layers), which is actually the RIGHT solution??
This artwork is for prizes for a writing contest (custom mugs), and it's supposed to be in by Wednesday-- HELP is greatly appreciated!!

No, if you have three separate instances of Type, as it seems, for each of these you have to make sure it is selected in its entirety.

Create AAC grayed out

I have selected AAC option in Import settings, I have selected the MP4 file I want to convert, yet the option remains grayed out in the advanced menu. I have a PC and am trying to extract the audio from a MP4 file (a music video from which only the sound is what I want to have on my iPhone 5s). What am I doing wrong? Yes, I'm sure the file is MP4. The video is in under the "Home Movies" if that helps.

It is not protected. It is a video I uploaded to itunes from my computer. Is the second sentence supposed to be what I should say? I can see an advanced menu. Clicking on it ("it" being the file), hitting alt, and going to file and then "Create new version". In the menu that opens after scrolling on that, there's 3 options and the last option is the convert to AAC, which is grayed out.

Create publication "grayed-out"

I am logged into the cmc as administrator and attempting to create a publication. When I navigate to the folder and click - new - publication. I am prompted to name the newly created publication.. but the save button is "grayed-out". I am logged in as admin with full control of the folder.. am I missing something

Ive been trying for hours now but illustrator wont allow me to create clipping mask

I have created the attached logo wit the pen tool. I then cut the middle bit out using the shape builder tool.
I imported this onto a new document containing an image/object i want to clip it to . I select both go to object> make clipping mask.
Both objects suddenly go blank and i can see the no fill/ no stroke icons. If this doesnt happen then ai will plain and simply say "cannot make clipping mask".
This has been bothering me for a couple days now.
Anyone have any ideas?

You can do it in a quite different/similar way with Cliping masks, without or with the purple/flamelike/smoky coloured background.
Note: There was an error in the first suggestion in post #18: In Step 5) you should select C) (the purple/flamelike/smoky coloured background to cut from) instead of D) (the underlying texture of the dripping black parts), sorry, I just spotted it.
You may (reusing part of the first suggestion):
1) Go back to, or start anew with, the following basic parts (starting with this stacking order):
A) The Compound Path forming the inner dripping black part (in the A),
B) The Compound Path forming the outer dripping black parts,
C) The purple/flamelike/smoky coloured background to cut from,
D) The underlying texture of the dripping black parts,
E) The underlying texture of the inner letter parts;
2) Select A) and B) and copy them both at the very top of the stacking order, then release both Compound Paths and delete the inner path from A) and the outer path from B), then make them into a new Compound Path consisting of the inner letter shapes (you may use Pathfinder>Minus Front or Object>Compound Path>Make);
3) Move E) (the underlying texture of the inner letter parts) up just below the new Compound Path from 2), select both, and Object>Clipping Mask>Make, then hide;
4) Select A) (the Compound Path forming the inner dripping black part (in the A)) and B) (the Compound Path forming the outer dripping black parts) and Object>Compound Path>Make;
5) Select the combination from 4) and D) (the underlying texture of the dripping black parts) and Object>Clipping Mask>Make;
6) Show 3).
C) The purple/flamelike/smoky coloured backgroun, if you keep it, or any other background will will be visible wherever it is not covered.

ICal synced with google calender wont allow me to create new calenders

Right now im using one general calendar in my google calendar synced iCal. I would like to split it up, so i have one for school, home, my band etc etc.
The problem is, when i create these new calendars in my google account, they don't show up in iCal. The same problem occurs when i try to make a new calender subordinated my google account cal in iCal itself: Immediately i get the error message:

I really would like to be able to have separated calendars in iCal/google cal that would be able to sync, so i could sync my entire calender to my iPhone.
I hope there is an answer out there, because i have spent hours and hours trying to fix the problem in the iCal and gCal preferences, and i have googled it time after time without finding any help! I have posted this problem before, and someone responded that he had the same problem. But no one have given an answer so far.

Hi Jakob,
Any additional calendars you have set in Google Calendar will appear as delegates to your main Google calendar in iCal. Go to iCal' Preferences > Accounts, select the Google account and open the Delegates tab. There you should see any additional Google calendars and be able to select them to show in iCal.

Msi neo platinum with raid setup wont reconize my slave ide drive

I am running a pair of raptor 36.7 gig hd in raid and i also have a wd 160 hd for just storage.The computer runs great but when i hook up the 160 i go in to cmos and it will detect it.Then i save it to cmos and boot.Well when i go in to my computer there is only my C drive which is my raptors.I have changed cable,jumpers u name it.I have the latest bios update as well.

Have you partitioned and formatted it?
If it's not formatted, windows won't see it.
In XP, start run and type diskmgmt.msc
When Disk Management opens, a wizard may appear entitled: Initialize and Convert Disk Wizard.
Note: You must use this wizard to write a Signature to the drive otherwise, the drive will not work with Windows XP. If the wizard does not appear, you may need to manually complete this process following the steps below
Right click on the name of the drive to be initialized. (Drives are numbered as follows: drive 0 being the boot drive and drive 1-3 are all other drives. For CDs, the first CD is CD 0 the second CD 1 and so forth.)
Choose Initialize from the menu that appears.
The next screen shows the drive you selected to initialize. Make sure the drive is checked and click Next.
You will have the option to convert the drive from basic to dynamic storage.
Leave this unchecked and click Next.
Click Finish

Ok, I wasn't able to take a snip shot of the 3d drop down menu.... when i do select the 3d tab, new 3d extrusion and from selected layer and new mesh from layer are both highlighted in the drop down menu; however once i click on either one NOTHING happens! my video driver has been updated and i have the correct amount of memory to run 3d. what do i need to do? Also I'm still in the trial period of photoshop (day7) help me please!

Since ios7.1update my icloud has got my old apple id and wont allow me to change it? Please help!!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn of Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn of Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When ﬁnished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Problem creating array... help!!!

Hi everyone, Im currently trying to do a project and I am a little suck. Could anyone please help?
I have two classes. The first class is Ticket, which is an int array of 6, the other class is called TicketArray, which is an array of objetcs tickets. The ints stored on the tickets are read from an ASCII file on TicketArray class, and send samehow to the ticket object, which is later store on the TicketArray. I've got this far:

and then i saw you do this
t[index] = new String(first);
t is an int array, so you are trying to assign a string to an int, which also wont work.

also you say this:
int num[];
num = new int[5];
this initializes an int array of 5 and then throws it away as soon as the constructor main method returns. i dont think you want that. you should the declairation up top where the int token is.
ok, so you dont have a constructor for the ticket class that matches the one you are trying to use.
i think you may need to go back to the examples, you have more problems in this code then there is lines of code.

Ipod wont restore and update. network connection timed out. help!???

I restored my ipod touch 2g 8gb. I went into itunes and followed the steps. I clicked restore and update and it goes through the whole process and gets all the way to the end and it says ipod software update (processing file) then a pop up comes up telling me "there was a problem downloading the software for the ipod. the network connection timed out". i've tried it in different usb ports and i've turned off the firewalls. still nothing. does anyone have a solution for me?? i've been trying for a few days now and i've look all over the internet to fix this issue. i'm at the point i'm just annoyed so i'm posting here for help. any help would be awesome! thanks

When you get anything that says your network connection timed out it either means you lost internet connection or there is something blocking the connection between the computer and the servers that it is trying to connect to.
If you have a solid internet connection and can browse to websites fine it's either an anti-virus program or a firewall on the computer OR a firewall in the router's settings that you use to connect to the internet.
Reconfigure any security software to allow Apple's servers to pass.
Useful information for configuring your security software:
IMPORTANT: iTunes must be allowed to contact Apple using the following ports and servers:
port 80
port 443
phobos.apple.com, deimos3.apple.com, albert.apple.com, gs.apple.com, itunes.apple.com, ax.itunes.apple.com

Temporarily disable or uninstall your security software

Setup Sync on Mac has Continue button grayed out

Setting up sync on my Mac OSX 10.6, I already have a sync account. I enter the email for the sync account, and password, yet the Continue button remains grayed out.
I have confirmed by logging in on the web that I am using the right credentials.

I'm assuming that you are in the window that I'm attaching in the screenshot.
You need to add the Recovery Key in the third box. If you don't have it you need to click on "I've lost my other device" and follow the instructions.
If this is not the window that you are using, you will need to go there by clicking "I have an Account" and press "I don't have the device with me" at the bottom of the 3 boxes with the code.

Unable to create partition after RAID setup failure

SL - Tried to create RAID 1 with two external 250G drives. The RAID setup failed indicating improper format pair. So....I attempted to re-create the partition on one of the drives with proper settings.
It will not partition at all. It returns a POSIX error: unable to allocate memory.
I've tried the following:
Using startup disk
Partitioning using WindowsXP (which worked....only for Windows)
Tried erasing
Tried to partition with each partition type.
Nothing works! However, when I restart SL, it pops open a window indicating the drive needs to be 'initialized'. I click 'initialize' button, but that doesn't help.

Do the following:
Extended Hard Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder. If you need to reformat your startup volume, then you must boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (for Intel Macs) or APM (for PPC Macs) then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Are you trying to create a RAID using partitions on hard drives or using the entire drive?
