Faster playback for mpeg-4 movies and m4b audiobooks
Hello,
Videos in mpeg-4 and audiobooks in m4b can be sped up in quicktime. Is there anyway to do the same thing when using this media on the iPhone?

I'm assuming that the MPEG-4 movies are actually DVD's? You might want to try a 3rd party software such as DVD to Nokia.

I can no longer edit the info for my songs, movies and tv shows. This occurred since I loaded Windows 7 Pro on my C drive, and then fownloaded ITunes 10. Why will the program not allow me to access the track info to edit it?
Ah yes school boy error there out of frustration and discontent..
My issue is with music/apps/films etc not downloading from iTunes / App Store.
They initially fail and message is displayed stating unable to download / purchase at this time, yet if I retry it says I've already purchased (?) or alternatively I go to the purchased section and there they are waiting with the cloud symbol..
However some items get frozen in the download window and cannot be retried or deleted. Message appears stating to tap to retry, but even if you stole every bath and sink in the uk you'd still not have enough taps.
I post here as the iTunes guys are useless in there 'help' and have only advised posting here or phoning apple, at my expense, to explain a problem that could be rectified by forwarding my original email to a techie. However the tech team apparently don't have an email address as they're from ye olde Middle Ages..!
Anyways I digress.
So I tried sync to pc, but instead of showing the file as ready to listen/use/view, the iCloud symbol shows and I'm back to square one as the item is unable to download..
At frustration station waiting for a train from pain...
All my software is up to date, and had all worked fine prior to the last big iOS update that resulted in all the changes in display and dismay.

Apple tv asks for authorization on movies and tv shows
What authorization does apple tv need to show movies and tv shows? I keep getting "not authorized on your appletv"
just got off the phone with apple support. got escalated 3 times (pass the buck sort of thing), but after several attempts it looks like movies and youtube are working. I still have some music that isn't authorized, so the problem isn't completely solved, but it looks like I'm making progress.
Here's what we did:
- deauthorize, reauthorize - tried this several times, didn't do anything
- reset appletv to factory default - no difference
- rebuild itunes library - didn't help
- reset appletv again - seems to be working, except for about 60 songs.
I'll add more content and see if otherfiles work or not. -
I've tried to get to support on line to no avail...called the 1-800 number and they keep telling me to go to expresslane.com/itunes/support. i've been billed for 2 movies that were rented...considering I stiil have a credit from the last go-around, where the movies rented kept hanging up or i was billed twice for the same movie...they awarded me 4 credits, of which i have used 3...I still have 1 last credit and they continue to bill for 2 movies, one of which kept hanging up and it took 3 hours to see a 90 minute movie by the time we started and backed up the track seveal times....right on my account from the itunes store it is listed 1 credit remaining....it's not a big deal, but if that's the way they conduct themselves, than i want nothing to do with them in the future!
I am always calling and asking but I will do it again since I did not ask this past month and a half. I have always been told they never have any specials or packages on the Jet packs at least in our area.
That being said, on our neighborhood forum, internet speed and availability has been the hot topic this month. Since everyone is now starting to get high speed unlimited internet access for $60 a month, I'm hoping my post will be moot.

Anyone know a fast converter for moving my movies into itunes?
I just got an apple tv2, i have airvideo on my IP4 that works but i want to stream movies from my PC directly to ATV2. Problem is that i have like 300 movies that aren't converted for itunes... Anyone know a good/fast converter? Would be nice if it could automatically add the file into my itunes and even delete the old file after its done conversion. OR even better if theres a way without conversion at all =) thx
You definitely need them in iTunes and they also have to be compatible with ATV to stream from PC

In terms of converters there's handbrake, mpeg streamclip, visual hub..those are ones that I have found to be of good quality. -

Have you checked the purchase history on your acocunt via the Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) drop-down menu option on your computer's iTunes ? My ATT Iphone 3GS keeps freezing and shutting down, now won't turn on at all. tried to do an update and restore but it froze in restore at about 20% done, waited 5hrs for it to go, it didn't. Not sure what to do or where to go (ATT or Apple) to get help, how much it could cost? HELP PLEASE!

Try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that rental and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, 24 to 48 hours). -

I need an example vi that allows me to set the cursor position and simulate mouse left and right clicks, including double clicks. The examples in the development library work up to LabVIEW version 6, but not for version 7, because no block diagrams were included. Thanks.

Poor video playback from movies and DVD in Quicktime and DVD player
Hello.
I have just taken delivery of a smashing Intel iMac C2D 20".
I appear to be having problems playing back video and DVD. let me explain:
When entering full screen on a DVD, the picture is very blocky (pixilated). This happens on all DVD discs I have used.
The same happens if I playback a MPEG or AVI, and also when I use Eye TV to playback TV.
I have run the Apple Hardware test, and it returned no faults.
The Video Card is the ATI Radeon X1600 with 256mb
I am sure that there is a problem because I have just compared playback using my old G5 iMac and G4 Powerbook using the same media files and DVD's and they playback fine.
Does anyone have any suggestions (other than calling Tech Support at this stage as I will blow a fuse after being on the phone for 1.5 hours getting nowhere, and with agents not knowing which keypresses to initiate stuff - sorry - Rant over - I just want to get this resolved)
As a side note: I have just installed Windoze XP on a partition, and the playback of DVD and MPEGS are fine - so it leads me to think maybe its software??
Not one to let things get the better of me - I installed Real Player and VLC.
BOTH of these play back the media correctly.
So I guess it is Software for sure, and I guess its Quicktime. Does Quicktime run DVD Player as well?
I did a roll back to a previous version of Quicktime, and it screwed up the mac. It would book, but would not load the Finder.
So I archived and reinstalled, and I had 7.1.2 QT, and the problem was still there. So up again to 7.1.3 and problem still persists.
I have come to the conclusion that this is to do with Quicktime on a C2D processor iMac.
Can anyone shed any light on this or suggest a solution?

Photoshop layer move and layer duplicate event ids
I am running PSCC 2014 on a mac. I work with a wacom table and keyboard shortcuts. I work fast without looking look at the keyboard. Often end up moving layers, duplicating layers inadvertently by pressing the wrong keys.
I have identified the keyboard shortcuts responsible for the layer shift/duplication and was able to record an action.
The idea is to setup a Javascript alert when the layer moves or duplicates using the Scripts Events Manager Photoshop Event dialog.
I have not been able to successfully add the Photoshop Event using the Event ID code 'copy' and ‘move’ listed in the Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 Javascript Scripting Reference guide.
The Adobe scripting listener plugin does not record the layer movement and layer duplication events.
When I replicate the problem the History pallet registers both, the layer copy and layer move events as a ‘move’ history state.

I know that in Windows, you can run additional software that will send you an alert every time you accidentally press those keys. It can even block the layer shift/duplication if you choose. I've just tried a sample here on my system and it works perfectly - every time cmd (in my case ctrl) is pressed, a tooltip at the mouse cursor will pop up, saying "CTRL is pressed". Additionally, whenever I press ctrl+option+drag, the tooltip instead says "Layer has been moved". I'm positive this can also be done on the mac.
you should look into a key remapping program for the mac that resembles AutoHotKey for Windows (which is what I'm using). It will allow you to send alerts every time you press those key/mousebutton combinations by accident. This is a solution I bet you can take care of outside of Photoshop, meaning that you won't need to rely on javascripting or anything.

Keyboard Maestro seems to be the best bet but I wouldn't know for sure. Your solution will be in one of those programs for sure.

How can I use an mpeg in Premiere cs6? I converted it to an mov and it still wont work
I am trying to use an mpeg file in my premiere pro cs6 project. It is stock footage I bought online. It imports but when I try to play it is stuck on the first frame. I converted the file to an mov in quicktime and it still wont play in premiere. I am on a mac. Please help. Thanks
SATA II is generally just fine, no fuss no muss, for the system. Using PCIe to boot adds problems and most if not all such PCIe SSD cards do NOT WORK in 32-bit Mac Pro 1,1 and 2,1 (and the 3,1 is also sometimes difficult with some cards).
Data uses though are useful, work, and benefit. Lightroom, Aperture, scratch, even iPhoto - all those graphic libraries.
I would rewrite and make it "will the native SATA II drive bays" work, and the answer to that is YES. But not faster.
You have a 4x and 8x slot, so one of those is fine.
It is the reads and zero latency seeks along with queue depth and high 90K IOs per sec that help an SSD shine.
Putting a 250GB or 500GB EVO 840 is the easiest and best return on system improvement you can make for $120-240 (plus $14 for Icy Dock adapter).
Even the 2008 has two 4x PCIe 1.1 slots. The 2009 has PCIe 4x 2.1 slots that share bandwidth and cap out (only learned from stripping SSDs using two PCIe cards and 2-4 SSDs), so they aren't perfect either! ONLY the 5,1 really has the best PCIe design and setup.
Sonnet only supports or recommends their Tempo Pro which is what I bought, so I don't know off hand how well yours works and if it even will. Some cards do require EFI 64-bit, AND 10.8.x or later, and maybe even PCIe 2.0 - but only to work, ie they don't work or not supported in PCIe 1.0... but NOT about the bandwidth.
Booting in 10 seconds is nice. Launching a full dozen apps in 10 seconds (and ready to use) also. Only larger program suites takes 20 seconds now.
250MB/sec is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to boot drive SSD. -
Best setting for mpeg streamclip conversion of mpeg2 to mov

Now I am able to convert an mpeg to a mov and keep the audio and quality, etc. Now my problem is that I am building a site, refering to the movies externally so they play in quicktime, which is working but they take too long to load and play. The info is:

That's not a big file but for some reason it's taking long to load. I've seen so many clips online that just play right away and they seam long. What am I doing incorrect when I exported to Quicktime?

Use QuickTime Pro and encode video with H.264. Take a look at this post and look for 'Fast-Start.'

Fast-Forward/Skippy Playback for long clips imported to PP
Hello all.
Normally, I try to avoid help forums, and figure out problems myself, however, this time, I cannot for the life of me understand what is going on. To give you the whole story:
I'm putting together a video for my church. In this video, are clips of short interviews with church members (roughly 15 sec - 1 min long) with 4 2-hour long videos time-lapsed at 7000% each. The videos were shot using a JVC HDD camera, and I had to convert the videos to .AVI from .MOV so PP could use them. After converting all of the files, I checked each one using WMP to make sure it still looked good and wasn't squished or anything. Then, I started by importing the short interviews into PP.
Those came in fine. I was able to take each one, edit it the way I wanted it, and line it up on the timeline with the others. My problems started however with my first 2-hour time-lapse video.
I noticed that before dropping it on the timeline, playback in the 1st monitor was choppy, "fast-forwarded", but the audio was fine. I dropped it into the timeline, and went ahead and unlinked the video and audio to get rid of the audio, but the video itself was still choppy. In fact, the video would only take about 2 minutes to "finish" playing even though it was only 2 minutes into the 2 hour-long clip, and I could see that on the timeline. Since I didn't require editing on these time-lapse clips, and I was just dropping them next to each other, I went ahead and changed the speed to 7000%, and proceeded to do the same for the next 3 long clips. I figured rendering would clear up the problems, but seeing it was going to take 12 or so hours to render, I decided I better try here before I wasted 12 hours only to not have a usable video.
Again, the time-lapse videos do not require editing...I merely need them to play at 7000% speed. However, now, I am having a problem with another clip. This clip is roughly 13 minutes long, and it is giving me the same problems as the 2-hour clips. The video fast-forwards, then freezes, then skips, and the audio is just fine in the background.
I am running Windows Vista 64-bit, a Dual-core processor, 4GBs of RAM, and an NVIDIA 8800gt Superclocked Edition graphics card. Besides the processor being lack-luster, I feel as though my computer is adequate enough to handle what I am doing...so it must be a problem with...well, what -I- am trying to do.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

After this project, however, the church will be purchasing one of the nice Sony MiniDV cams (I can't remember the "series" number or style, but I used them in high school during film-editing class a few years back...the silver Sony cams with the widescreen lens and more "professional" look...you know, the $3000 ones...). I've already requested, lol...
Anyway, thanks for your help, Mr. Simon. What format do you feel would be suited best for this conversion? I want to keep it around the same file size...maybe from .MOD to .mpg (MPEG2)? I'm already trying that as we speak, but to save me some time...mind recommending a format? This thing has to be exported to a .avi file and on my thumbdrive ready by 7am EST...and it's 9:13pm EST now...
