Fastforwarding... unwanted but I can't get rid of it.

There's no fast or slow play function in itunes, but sometimes it plays 2x speed for no reason... I just opened it today and it did that. This happened once before, but I forgot how I fixed it. If only they would add buttons that control speed! Now I have to play my music through windows media player, and can't play anything that I bought or access my playlists. For a product with such a great interface, sometimes its design failures amaze me.

EUREKA, I found the solution to my problem in a Discussion initiated by gingertodd on July 27, 2011 entitled "Safari in Lion hijacked by malware." The solution was provided by Badunit who recommended force quitting Safari and then reopening it while holding down the Shift key. It worked instantly, and I subsequently was able to open Safari normally by just clicking on its icon in the Dock. THANK YOU BADUNIT!

• I have new Ipod which shows mail, but when I punch to see all I see are the mail providers. The mail is set up correctly but I can't get rid of the providers to see my e-mails. Help??

I have new ipod touch which shows mail messages, but when I punch to access, all I get are mail providers. How can I get rid of mail providers and see my messages since the correct mail providers are set up already?

I do not know what you mean by "punc to see all mail provider".
And also what does "I can't get rid of the providers to see my e-mails".
Maybe this will help

• I need to change my server so I can do a software update on my mac but I can't get rid of it.

I've tried everything to change the server but it won't.

Sig is right — reclaiming space on your hard drive should be a matter of looking for the largest files you can delete, not starting with applications. I have 200+ applications on my hard drive, and altogether they occupy less than 14GB of space. Just a handful of them — Acrobat Pro, iPhoto, Aperture, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Adobe Media encoder — are larger than 500MB apiece, and if I disposed of all of those, I'd only get 5.6GB back. My Utilties folder contains 78 apps, and it only amounts to 1.1 GB.
If you have any feature-length movies on your hard drive, those should be the first things you trash or move to an external drive.

• I don't want Foxytunes, but I can't get rid of it even after following various techniques, how do i DO IT?

I want to get Foxytunes off of my machine, and Windows Remove & Ccleaner can't seem to do it. I'VE FOLLOWED INSTRUCTIONS ON http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Cannot%20uninstall%20an%20add-on, to no avail. When I tried Help/Troubleshooting, there was no entry for Foxytunes. What can I do to get it off of my computer? Thx

You can use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
You can do a search on the about:config page page for ask.com

• I can't get rid of the "Install OS X" disk image...

Several months ago (I think it was when upgrading from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3) I had trouble with two machines - my wife's MBA (Rev. A - 1.6 GHz, 2GB ram, 80 GB HDD), and my MBP, but our iMac did fine. Eventually I got both the MBA and MBP updated and they work fine. Since then I've updated the MBA so that it's running 10.6.4.
Here's my problem: during the difficult software update somehow I was left with two (2!) "Install OS X" disk images on the MBA desktop. I cannot get rid of them no matter what I do. I've tried ejecting (and they eject - but then when you reboot the computer they come right back), I've tried using disk utility to erase them, I've tried numerous things but I can't get rid of the darn things.
I'd given up because they weren't causing any harm. However, I've just realized I can't run TimeMachine because of the disk images - TimeMachine stops with an error message saying it can't back up two disks with the same name. I can't change the name or delete the disk images so I can't do backups.
Any ideas on how to get rid of these silly things?

OK, then open Disk Utility. Click on the main drive entry at the top of the sidebar list, then click on the Partition tab in the DU main window. You should see a window in which you have the three partitions displayed as rectangles one on top of the other. I'm assuming that in your case the largest rectangle is the uppermost one with the two mystery partitions at the bottom. Click in one of the smaller rectangles. You should see it become outlined in blue. Then click on the [-] Delete button. Repeat for the second small rectangle. You will now have a gray area below your OS X partition. Now click on the Apply button. It may take several minutes for the process to complete so be patient and wait until it's done. When it's finished you should see the topmost OS X partition and the remainder of the window is gray space. In the lower right corner of the OS X partition should be a sizing gadget that looks like a triangle. Use the mouse to drag the corner all the way to the bottom of the window. Click on the Apply button and wait for the process to be completed.
This should restore your drive to it's original single volume state and get rid of the two mystery items.

• Can't get rid of thin outline around embedded movie?

...even after setting it to "Invisible Rectangle" in the settings box.
I'm trying to get a flash animation, converted to quicktime movie (imported with legacy format option), embedded into the PDF, and then playing as the page becomes visible (i.e. the look you'd get if you were using powerpoint)
test file attached...
This is my 2nd preference as I was trying to get my flash animation embedded into my InDesign file which then was to be exported to PDF... but when I tried both quicktime movie and SWF it caused my Acrobat to "unexpectedly quit"... again and again... so after much frustration have given up and was trying to embed the quicktime movie into the PDF - which will be take up much more time as it's a 150 pg presentation in InDesign and every time I send the PDF for approval I will need to reimport the movies into the PDF... but at least it doesn't crash out... BUT just can't get rid of the thin black line around the movie.
I convinced the client to do the 150pg presentation in InDesign not powerpoint (as has been done previously) but need to offer them the same offering as powerpoint with all the animation - which I thought would be no problem with importing flash files into InDesign - but I'm finding it fraught with difficulties!
They'll be wishing they used Powerpoint!
Any help would be so much appreciated
PS using Adobe CS4, Mac OSX 10.4, Acrobat 9

Thanks very much for the response Sandee. I tried your suggestion of the Annotation option and this worked! - wonderful.. altho this test now works for me I'd still love to get it working from InDesign.
What I'm trying to achieve... my client had 5 powerpoint presentations that need updating with new branding (totally about 160 pages - with about 20 basic animations - i.e. flashing lights on products etc).
I sold him on the idea of using InDesign/PDF rather than powerpoint - but am needing to find an easy solution for the animations. So I've been working on this test file. Have self taught myself on a basic flash animation (from Lynda.com)... and tried importing both SWF and QT .MOV into InDesign and then exporting to PDF and when it loaded up in Acrobat it would always "unexpectedly quit" upon opening... even after trying different versions of PDF compatibility and restarting etc.
Is there something obvious that I'm not doing right?
Also if I get it to work, does that mean that my client and all their staff around the world will need to be Acrobat Reader 9?
Thanks again for your time and help

• Strange frames i can't get rid of

I'm using premiere to cut an already cut movie. this means that most of my edits are close to a pre-existing cut. for some reason single frames are seen in the edits when i play it back, but not when i advance frame by frame.
to make matters worse when i exported my project, even more of these strange frames appeared at almost every cut i made. it makes my edit look incredibly ammaturish, but i can't get rid of them!!
the more i search through the footage frame by frame the less extra frames i see, but the more i play it back, the more appear
it's totally infuriating!

In the context of a straight cut, surely no handles are nessicary?
by straight cut (just so there are no further misunderstandings) I mean that one frame is in one shot and the very next is in another with no transitions such as fades etc. just whack to the next clip; the standard most common cut.
i'm pretty sure handles isn't the problem.

• I can't get rid of a white circle on my ipod touch screen

there's a white circle on my ipod screen. i can move it around, but i can't get rid of it. it seems that it's a shortcut button, but i don't want it there. how can i get rid of it?

- Try resetting the iPod. Nothning except your problem will be lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Also go to Settings>General>Accessibility and see if an accessibility feature is turned on.

• How can I get rid of a system dialogue that keeps reappearing?

Ever since the latest system update, when my Apple TV goes into the slideshow mode, a dialogue box keeps popping up. It briefly disappears when the picture changes but I can't get rid of it permanently. It reads:
"Wirelessly send what's on your ios device or computer to this display using Airplay. To learn more, go to apple.com/airplay. (1) Choose Wi-Network [name of my local Wi-fi network appears] (2) Choose this Apple TV."
I assume that the numbers 1 and 2 are options but no action I take on the Apple TV remote or the Logitech universal remote I use clears the dialogue.
How can I eliminate this dialogue? It really defeats the purpose of the slide show!

Same issue for me. I've updated the Conference Room Mode, but now when I start the slideshow it goes back to the Apple TV Menu? Any advise? Thanks!

• Can't get rid of original Audio

I'm overwriting a clip on the timeline with a clip from the events, but I can't get rid of the audio from the timeline clip. What's up? Even when I cut the clip I want to replace, its audio remains.

I did not separate it.
What do you mean by "edit style"? Can't seem to find a way to adjust that.
It seems that whatever I do, the original audio stays. I tried to overwrite, and I tried to completely cut out the original audio... I'm trying to cut in a close-up over a medium shot and want to use the dialogue from the close-up.
Thanks.
