Fatal Error: All Viewports (Except Preview) Frozen, All Buttons/Scrollbars Broken

So, this happened:
As you can clearly see, iMovie has completely destroyed itself. All viewports (aside from the preview window) have shut down, although can still be used for navigation (seeking can still be done on the now-invisible film reels), the scrollbars present on each port are no longer functional, and not one of the buttons responds to a click. Even the Graphic EQ is no longer functional. The Inspector window does still work, though is completely useless when I can't see what I'm editing. The drop-down windows do drop-down, but any command I use renders no result.
It should be noted that quitting and restarting iMovie remedies absolutely nothing, as the problem is still present. Even when I start the program with a different movie file, iMovie loads this one and refuses to change. It will, however, load the preset image of the alternate movie file initially, though will switch back almost immediately.
I really need help with this. Anyone know what's wrong, or better yet, how I can fix it? Any help is appreciated, thank you so much!

Chances are you are looking in the wrong place. You need to look here.
Navigate to Macintosh HD/<Your User Name>/Library/Preferences.
If you look in Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences, you will not see it. This preference file is specific to your user account.
Another way to check if you still can't find it is to log in under another user account and open iMovie there. If it works, you know that the Preferences file wil probably solve it. If not, you probably need to reinstall iMovie or OSX.

  • ContactList_UpdateInsert returning Fatal error: Uncaught SoapFault exception

I am creating a script to capture our customers email and then generate a password after they place an order.  This will then be placed into the BC crm along with an external database to create an account on another system.  I have everything working up to the point of inserting a new password for the user.  Considering I have multiple calls using this same structure that are working correctly such as Case_Retreive and Contact_RetreiveByEntityID, I am a bit confused by the error.
Everytime I try to call the ContactList_UpdateInsert I am getting this error:

    $passResult = $client->__soapCall('ContactList_UpdateInsert', array('parameters' => $passArray));
My next question is how you go about (with php) to insert a variable into the password field of the crm. My guess is something like this:
    $passResult[password] = 'newpass';

    Hi Anton,

  • Update Operation Fatal Error when installing Technical Preview Build 10041 Upgrade

I posted this in the Microsoft Community forums and was redirected here.
Below is the original post (URL: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_install/update-operation-fatal-error-when-installing/6eaff1b9-0223-4357-afc8-884382590e82 )
    Hello,
In trying to perform an upgrade install of the Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041 (as is the latest available for direct download as of my writing), I am running into a problem I cannot find mention of anywhere else on the web.
I fall into two categories with regards to this build: A) Product tester who actually needs to test application performance under Windows 10 on bare metal, B) Semi-crazy techie who loves using (usable) beta software as his primary environment ;)
so it is rather important to me that I get this working on my machine in some non-virtualized respect. I am reluctant to do a full/fresh install if installation problems are happening, because my Windows 8 product key has been f***ed up from the
start (likely some random database corruption) and I've had to utilize phone support to get around an "unknown error" the last two times I've had to use it. So, for fear of that key completely crapping out on me, I don't want to move to Win10 unless
I'm confident it will install and I can stick with it (for better or worse) through the end. Problems within the Preview after I install it I can deal with.
So, I first tried to install the Preview through the standard Windows Update method. The installer took about 7 hours (but from reading lots of internet discussions, stupidly long install times in that range seem to be a common problem with
this builds separate from it actually failing). During the reboot between the "Setting up Devices" (Or is it Setting up Drivers? I forget) and "Taking Care of a Few More Things" (Again, possibly paraphrased), for about a split second, underneath
the Windows logo and throbber, some error like this appeared:
Fatal Error Performing Update Operation # of ##: ERROR CODE
It only appeared for a fraction of a second, and I had no chance of reading the precise numbers or error.
However, the installer then seemed to continue, and went until the main circle was at 100%. As soon as 100% hit, however, the screen went black for something like 30min. Then, I briefly saw "Attempting to recover installation" before "Restoring
your previous version of Windows." And I was, quite impressively considering how far along that installer was, back in Windows 8.1 completely unharmed.
I tried again by burning an ISO and doing a disc upgrade install. I let that one run overnight and was asleep for the error, but I was back in Win8.1 in the morning, so I can only assume a similar thing happened there.
As for my system specs, I'm running on a MacBook Pro 9,1 under Boot Camp. I am upgrading from Windows 8.1.2 Pro with Media Center. I have found other online accounts of people quite successfully installing Windows 10 on Macs, so that isn't the issue.
Does anyone have any clue as to what this error might have been/be, and how I might fix it? Or at least have it on good authority that a fresh installation would be unaffected (meaning it's software-related)? If not, I can try installing to a VHD,
which would at least let me product test on bare metal, but wouldn't have the harddrive space to be my daily driver and would probably only get used occasionally.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!
So far, I have the yet-to-be-tried idea of a clean boot prior to installation.
If anyone here has any more specific ideas, lemme hear 'em.
    Thanks!

To the individual who proposed this as an answer to my problem: It's not even applicable. I specifically stated that I was trying to avoid doing a clean installation (at least without knowing more about the problem at hand). An answer saying to do the thing
you're trying to avoid doing is not an answer. You can see my last reply for the current status of this issue. 6-8 hour blocks of time in which I can't use my computer (as is required to install build 10041) aren't super common for me, but I haven't abandoned
this thread. There have simply been no more updates. If your motivation as a mod was that you simply don't like there being unanswered threads on this forum, then perhaps you could attempt to contribute rather than arbitrarily marking the first reply as an
    answer.
I will continue to update this thread as I try new things and get more information.
    Thank you.

  • Why the Fatal Error when trying to preview or edit audio in Cp 8?

I installed Cp 8 last week.  (Been using Cp 3 for years, finally made the leap).   Made a presentation on Cp 8 just fine -- everything worked wonderfully. Preview ... audio edits ... everything was fine.
This week I'm working on another presentation and suddenly the program goes into a fatal error EVERY TIME I try to preview it.
So --- I continued creating my presentation without previewing anything, and then recorded audio for the project. But when I went to edit the audio, BAM - another fatal error.
    This is not good. :-)
Anyone else have this problem?  Any known solutions?

Sorry -- not much geek in my blood, so I forget to provide that info. :-)
    OS:  Win 7
The program is installed on my desktop, and there is no network.  It's only my computer.
Yes, there is PLENTY of space.
I downloaded the program last week with the help of Adobe Tech support, because the program would not install. An error kept appearing saying it was missing a file.  Spent 7 hours on Christmas Eve working with tech support in New Delhi, 1.5 hours of which was on the phone with the tech support having remote control of my computer. We finally figured out that AVG was preventing the install, so we deactivated AVG and then the program installed just fine.
As I said, I've been using Cp 3 for YEARS, so I'm familiar with what Cp is capable of doing. I created a project two days after Christmas and everything worked just find.  Was able to preview anytime I wanted, and had no problem editing my audio.
Then without making any other changes to my computer's configuration, two days ago I was working on another presentation and went to preview the slide.  The program reached 58% and then gave a fatal error, forcing shutdown. I thought I might be a hiccup, so I closed everything down and rebooted the computer, but still the same problem every time I tried to preview. I had half a dozen attempts, and each time a fatal error, always at the place where it says 58% complete (for the preview).
So --- I went ahead and completed the slide layouts without previewing anything, and figured I would add the audio, edit it, and publish the presentation.  I recorded the audio (my voice) just fine, but when I tried to edit it (audio > edit > project), the system experienced a fatal error, again at the 58% mark of preparation.
My presentations are saved and backed up ... I've been thinking that I need to uninstall / reinstall the program, but after spending 7 hours doing that on Christmas Eve, I was hoping there might be an alternative solution.

  • HT1414 my problem is as follows, my wife  updated i phone my phone to ios,she received a fatal error message and had to delete all data to continue. how can i retrieve my apps, music , money and all my other photos and contacts?

My wife updated my iphone with the ios,i thought i had all my email accs. together but i failed to sync everything properly, long story short in the process of the update she received an error and it was either stop,or lose all my data on my phone, she chose to cancel the data because we thought we could recover it! i would like to know how to get it back, the update said we had to change my password and there i think is the problem,is this data stored, and is my purchase history available?

Restore the phone using the last backup you made.

  • Black window on start! In fact, it's all black except the close window button!

Hi! I have just installed Firefox 4.0 RC and at first run all Firefox was black, except the title bar. I have an Asus N61JV laptop with W7 64 bit. If i set the compatibillity to Windows Xp Sp3, everything works perfectly.

Exactly what were you doing when your PC froze? Were you in the process of saving your file?
You should check your Windows logs ASAP on the chance that your computer itself is failing, before trying to do any more work with it!
I'm sorry to say that based on what you've written, chances are your Photoshop work on that project is gone for good.  There is usually no recovery.
This is why people do File - Save fairly often, and into multiple different files during long projects, when running Photoshop.
However, you *may* be able to get back a flattened version, depending on how you have the compatibility option set for saving your PSDs, by using a program like IrfanView to open the flattened composite in the PSD file.  It's worth a try.

  • T61P with x64 Windows 7 - all works except the Blue Thinkvantage button

Anyone with an idea how to get this going? I have the update manager running and all x64 updates processed correctly. Only pressing the Blue button doesn't start the app.
    Thanks,
    Pascal

All working for me (Windows 7 Ultimate, 64bit, clean rebuild).  Applying the Intel Matrix Storage Manager upgrade broke Windows Update, but copying the iastor.sys driver from another recently rebuilt windows 7 64 system (A T510) fixed this problem.  (To be clear, make a copy of iastor.sys in the windows\system32\drivers directory, rename the copy to BAD_iastor.sys_BAD, then copy the clean version to replace the old. At no time delete iastor.sys - always have a copy in that directory).
For me, the Sierra Wireless MC5725 device is what's hiccuping.  The System Management Interface Driver is no longer listed separately.  Anyone have an idea on how to get it?  Is it now part of another driver?  Thanks!

  • When I open Messages on my Macbook Pro (OSX Mavericks 10.9.3) it opens all gray except the yellow minimize button. It doesn't let me start a new chat or access my preferences because everything is grayed out. How do I fix this?

I saw another chat about this and tried deleting the "com.apple.ichat.plist" file they suggested but it did not do anything. Any other ideas?

    New Info
Re: Messages Menu Commands Greyed Out
    A simple solution...
After much troubleshooting, I have isolated the issue with the greyed out "Messages" app menu. The problem is due to the truetype font Apple Gothic missing which is required for the AppleID login window when you first launch Messages. You can just hit skip when the dialog box comes up, but until you do so the full messages menus are not available. So to fix, just drop AppleGothic.ttf in <bootdrive>/Library/Fonts and Messages 8.x should launch correctly. Apple should have really included this font in <bootdrive>/System/Library/Fonts since it is required for one of their Apps
Many people in the prepress or graphics arts fields will likely run into this issue when they customize fonts.

    Hi All,
I installed Oracle 9.2.0.1 and patched it with 9.2.0.3 on a Solaris 10 Sun 280R machine. I deleted the initially created database instance and created a new one using dbca after the patch installation.
However, when I am tring to install the application schema, I get a "not connected to Oracle" error in the sqlplus session and it exits. When i checked the

ORA-7445 is very similar to ORA-600 and also the next steps to solution are the same.
You need to contact Oracle Support.
This error could be caused by some bug that may be fixed in one of later patchsets, so I agree with Daniel, you should be on 9.2.0.8 wich is the last patchset (and also terminal pathset for 9i R2).
And is it very prossible that if you will contact Oracle Support they will tell you the same - apply patchset 9.2.0.8 :-)

The second series of warnings and fatal error comes after 6 or 7 successful API calls to retrieve AdGroup and Ad data for a series of AdGroups.  Eventually it fails.
Then it will work for several days, then have several days of getting errors again.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there,
I hope your day is going well. From your description it looks like you are loading the WSDL for every call. This is what you say:
"The second series of warnings and fatal error comes after 6 or 7 successful API calls to retrieve AdGroup and Ad data for a series of AdGroups.  Eventually it fails."
Best practice is to load your WSDL once cache it, and then use it for all calls. This is different from loading the WSDL for every call. Please try that and let me know if you have any issues.
    Thanks,
    Itai

Yesterday my iTunes (7.3.1) was working with no problems then the iTunes + Quicktime upgrade came up telling me to download the newer version but I didnt want to download it yet untill after i restarted my computer so I exited out of both the upgrade screen and iTunes then restarted the computer and when I tried to open up iTunes (after restarting), a little window came up saying:
    +*Preparing to install...*+
Then after a minute or two it said: *+Please wait while Windows configures iTunes+*
Then another window pops up saying:
    *+Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesMiniPlayer.Resources\fi.lproj\iTunesMiniPlayerLocalized.dll. +*
*+Verify that you have access to that directory.+*
and I have no idea what that means so i closed it then a pop up shows saying: *+Fatal Error During Installation.+*
so i deleted iTunes, Quicktime, iPod and everything i could (that my computer would let me) that had to do with Apple and restarted my computer then tried to download iTunes again but now when its reisntalling it says
    *+Error writing to file:+* +*C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\disnoted.exe.*+
+*Verify that you have access to that directory.*+
Then after this i went to the folder

  • HP Officejet Pro All-in-One L7780 Printer installation fatal error "MSI.MSI_BPD.Scan"

    Hi,
I run my laptop (an HP Probook) on XP and have was having trouble printing from Word and thought a good starting point would be to check the printer driver was complete and working by uploading the driver from the HP website.
However, on trying it I received the fatal error message "MSI.MSI_BPD.Scan" saying that a more recent version was already installed (dspite my having used the HP web-site).
The HP fix "HP Installation Error - XP" was automatically insatlled on my desktop, but didn't fix it. (The laptop did re-start as part of the process.)  Part of the fix was to erase the previous version.  However, after going through the process a second time it still didn't work.
Could it be because I used a different target directory for the upload, or is it something else?
Many thanks in anticipation of your help!
    Nick
P.S. I did try the HP Print Diagnostic Utility v5.0 and the printer isn’t recognized (as being there at all) and on clicking the “get drivers” (or something like that) button the process appeared to repeat that above: everything loaded and then – nothing!

    Hey Nick,
Check out this document to see if it is able to walk you through solving the fatal error. A 'Fatal Error' (MSI error) Displays on the Computer During HP Software Installation in Windows
If this does not help post back with any new details and we can continue from there.

HD 5570 and HD 6870 (upgraded from one to the other but problem still occurs)
Like I said I usually try to put up with flash (and silverlight) crashing my browser but now they crash the browse so badly it forces a bugcheck (or blue screen of death). I have tried to reload my operating system, then updated my drivers, and then in clean boot mode I still get pretty nasty crashes. I think the problem is within one of my drivers but I cant pinpoint which driver is the culprit.

    DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught.  This is
because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect (by the
administrator) and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver.
If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, bugchecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will
be among the most commonly seen crashes.
    Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000091, A driver switched stacks using a method that is not supported by
the operating system. The only supported way to extend a kernel
mode stack is by using KeExpandKernelStackAndCallout.

Subject: Flash Player Flash Plug-in Crashes across all browsers despite
    re-install
I support a bunch of Mac users and one of them (10.5.7 MBP) ran into this same
problem last week with both Safari and Firefox crashing with the flash player
plugin. If I removed the Flash Player plugin and the .xpt file there was no
crashing but no flash either. I used a combination of different suggestions and
here's what finally worked (so far anyway):
Show package contents for Firefox/Contents/MacOS/components and Get Info
changing perms for read/write for everyone.
Re-installed shockwave plugin using the customized full install (this made no
sense to me since I had made no change to shockwave but as I was testing the
browsers I was prompted to install it, so I did)
    Repaired permissions
The version of the Flash Player plugin that ended up installed on this Mac is
10.0.12.36. I started off installing the newer and recommended 10.0.22.87
version but it didn't fix anything. I inadvertently went backwards as I moved
plugins in and out of the Library. I didn't want to change anything once it was
working so I left it at the older version. I hope this helps someone else.

  • HT1925 I am getting a fatal error message when I try to un install itunes from Control Panel on my PC, so now I cannot un install it at all, any suggestions?

I need to un install itunes on my PC. I have windows XP. when I go into my control panel and select to un install it goes through the proper steps then gives me a fatal error message and therefore cannot remove it. Any suggestions?

An error occurred while attempting to create the directory c:\Program Data\Apple\Installer Cache"
That sounds like a permissions problem. Vista uses that Trusted Installer account to install software. I don't know why it wouldn't have the correct permissions, though.
Make sure you have FULL control over all the C: drive, and try turning off UAC during the install:
