Fatal error connecting Nokia 6220 Classic

Hi All
I have just installed the latest PC suite and am having trouble connecting my 6500-Slide & Nokia 6220 Classic.
I have also installed Nokia Software updater.
Basically i had a 6500 slide - this has connected fine no problems at all since i have had it. I have just got a 6220 classic lugged it in and got the following message:
"Cannot install this hardware"
"There was a problem installing this hardware:
Nokia 6220 classic USB phone parent
An error occured during the installation of this device
Fatal error during installation
Click finish to close"
So i downloaded the latest software (Suite & updater) and tried to connect either 6500-s or 6220 Classic via the supplied CA-101 cable and get the same message each time i try to connect either phone!
I have tried uninstalling, re-installing, updating software and am stuck now.
Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi,
wow, good fix and worked too (for my 6500 slide that is). For the benefit of those reading this post, i will re-post lillyplop's solution here:
Either rename or delete the file: c:\windows\system32\drivers\wdf01000.sys
Then reboot and prob should be fixed.
Also, perhaps nokia, look into the cause of this problem and maybe when nokia pc suite is launched, get it to rename this file then name it back when closed?

  • Nokia 6220 Classic and iSync?

I'm trying to get iSync (v.2.0) to recognize my Nokia 6220 Classic phone. But it won't. I've tried downloading the Nokia iSync plug-in from their website, but each time I try to intsall the package, it says
"You cannot install the phoen plug-in on this vlume. Plaese upgrade to the latest evrsion of iSync using Software Update".
However, running Software Update doesn't find a proprietary update. Nor can I find one...?
    Thank you for any advice.

Move your iSync application back into the main Applications folder. You should never move Apple application from the default locations.

Hi everyone, i recently purchased Nokia 6220 classic and i have some questions.
    1. MicroSD Card
I want a good microSD card(large, fast n stable). Whats the best for 6220c?
According to gsmarena 6220c only supports upto 8G microSD but according to Sandisk website 6220c can support 16G microSDHC. (?)
Can 6220c support microSDHC card with (2 in circle) and (4 in circle) rating? and which one is better?
The 8gb is the one to go for, asputting the 16gb card may make the phone run slow as the processor may not be able to cope
    2. Phone Lock
I can't find this option anywhere. I want the phone to ask the phone unlock pin(~4 digits) when i first turn on the phone.
If you go into the phone settings, then security, you have various ways of locking the phone either by locking the sim card or the phone.
    3. Video Recording.
Screen goes very dark during video recording sometimes, would new firmware fix this? i have Software version: 03.23, Software version date: 27-Jun-2008.
Also is it possible to disable the red light during video recording?
Not sure about the first part, but you cannot disable the lamp it is to let people know they are being recorded I think
    4. GPS, i'm on prepaid, is it possible to get free GPS service? if not which prepaid network would be cheapest for using GPS?
Nokia maps is very good, so long as you download the mapping download software first from Ovi.com to load them to the phone. It only costs about £50.00 (not sure) for the voice prompts as well.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Silent Camera for Nokia 6220 Classic!?

    Greetings from Helsinki Finland!
Please is somewhere available a silent camera for Nokia 6220 Classic?
This 5 mb camera is great but it makes so horrible noice that it is impossible to take great photos while e.g. my puppy starts to follow that sound and stops playing!
It is no way to make this camera silent in this phone, but I know that a good program download would solve this problem.
    Where might I download one?
    Thank you so much! =)
    Jasima

Looks like they have disabled the ability to turn off camera sounds by disabling the warning tones. There are other solutions, but they also invalidate your warranty, hence we can't discuss them here.
Have a look at this link. The same applies in lots of other countries and the list gets longer by the day.

hey ive curretly got a nokia 6220 classic, and im just wondering if somehow when replying to sms, it will show like a instant messaging conversation... similar to blackberry's and also the iphone sms system, because i find that when replying to sms, i forget what they have written and have to save what ive written so far as a draft, exit the compose sms, go into my inbox, re read message, and re type my reply sms.  Are there any software updates or applications that allow this to happen to the nokia 6220 classic? thanks

Looks like yours is one of the few models that it isn't compatible with.
Give this new program a try:
    http://blogen.junnikokuki.com/2009/03/iphone-style-sms-chat-software-for-s60-3rd5th-free-isms-v101/
I've not tried this program so I don't know if it's any good or even works.
It needs to be "open signed" before you can use it. If you are unfamilar with that see this guide:

  • Nokia 6220 Classic Screen Inverted

    Help, please.
I have just replaced the LCD screen on my Nokia 6220 Classic.  However, the scrren image is now upside down and the colours are 'bluish', not natural!
Someone suggested restoring fasctory settingsa but it's a second hand 'phone and I think a code is needed.  Everything was working extremely well until I replaced the damaged screen.
    Many thanks

if you have attempted the repairs yourself, it seems that you most likely have damaged the handset. Your only choice now is to take your phone to your local Nokia Care point for them to inspect and advise you on possible repairs and costs: http://nokia.com/support

  • How to Connect Nokia 2330 Classic with laptop or p...

    Hi All
I just bought my new nokia 2330 last week, when i try to connect my 2330 classic with my laptop the phone is not detacting.Pls help me in this regard. We connet 2330 with laptop or pc with cable or not???
    - Shree

    Hi all.
First and all, be aware that there are dozens of Nokia phones, and all have different specifications. If someone buys a phone to take pictures, then the 2330C is a bad choice. The port that the device has, is not a USB port. It is a Nokia proprietary port for service only.
@shreeg and others with similar issues (altough this is late): check for Bluetooth compatibility first at http://europe.nokia.com/support/download-software/pc-suites/compatibility-and-download
@mojojo and others with similar issues (altough this is late): troubleshoot your laptop and mobile phone Bluetooth. Check if your BT drivers are compatible with Nokia suites. Test them with other BT devices (i.e. BT headset, other phone). Also test the pairing at a different location. BT is a radio wave based connection which can suffer from external interference caused by other radio waves emitting devices, or by electromagnetic or electrostatic fields nearby (these are caused by almost anything that runs on electric power)
@everyone: my advise is for you to check the following web page for info on device specs http://www.forum.nokia.com/Devices/Device_specifications/matrix_all_1.html to know which type of local connections are available on the devices. It's on the "Local connectivity" section.

  • NOKIA 6220 CLASSIC

Have just purchased this phone and is not compatible with my new volvo s80 although all of my other phones have been ok. The bluetooth connects and I can hear and speak but it does not allow me to download the address book to the set in the car. Trying to get Nokia to do something!!! more chance of going to the moon

    Was that their exact words?
Nokia will not know the details of the car kit installed in your car, simply giving the model of the car gives no technical information about the car kit capabilities. If it is a factory-installed kit, then normally the manufacturer is the first port of call for technical advice because they will know the details of the kit that they install and they will have tested compatibility against particular models.

  • Nokia Maps with Nokia 6220 classic

I got a 90 day free trial with Nokia Maps
But everytime I try to use it it says
No Internet Connectoin. Select Options > Tools > Go Online.
I do that and the same thing happens.
All I can see is a light green screen with a red dot in the middle on Nokia Maps
Internet doesn't work for me either.

    Hi nisrin
If you have a generous data plan you can download maps on demand I suppose but not very practical if roaming. As you have found countries covered are listed here with some being navigable (Voice navigation option available) and some being non-navigable in much less detail:http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/maps-support/pricing-and-coverage/m...

  • Bluetooth keyboard & Nokia 6220 Classic -- "More S...

    Hi;
I have a Freedom 1 bluetooth keyboard that supports SPP interface with Nokia/Symbian Series 60. The Nokia bluetooth keyboard driver can't identify the keyboard (maybe because it doesn't support HID?), but the driver from Freedom works; but only sort of. When I type a character on the keyboard, whether in Test mode or in the notes application, the character appears in the text area on the phone, but immediately I get a pop up menu asking me if I want to:
    "More Symbols"
    "Number Mode"
    "Cut"
    "Paste"
    etc.
If I clear the pop-up, I can type one more character, then I get the pop up again. Does anyone know why this is and how I can avoid it?
    Thanks,
    Paul

I thought I would update this post.    When my girlfriend arrived the phone was working but I backed up everything and did a soft reset.
I also upgraded the Micro SD from 1gb to 4gb.
Recently the problem happened again and when I went to backup the phone the memory card was not visible, I ejected the card and plugged it back in and all the data was there.
It looks like the problem is that the phone is intermittently not seeing the Micro SD card, it is not the memory card because it has happened with 2 different cards.
I will monitor the situation and take the phone to Nokia Care if necessary, it is under warranty until next September.

  • Nokia 6220 classic Map license cost

Does anyone know how much it costs to buy a license for this please?
I have bought a phone with a 3 month trial but cant find confirmation on Nokia internet site regarding how much I will have to pay at the end of 3 months to keep Nokia Maps GPS

I am assuming you are refering to charges for using Nokia Maps.
Firstly there is no charge to use nokia maps to locate you position and to download any maps you want. So all map updates are also free.
You will however have to pay for navigation if you wish to get turn by turn instructions. There are various rates for navigation. You can buy a single country or regions (eg. western Europe) for different durations such as a week, a month, a year etc. There used to be a 3-year license but I am not sure if this is still available.
Typical costs depending on country/region for a 1 week license is around €7.99, 1 month €8.99, 1 year €79.99 and 3 years €89.99. I got the 3 year license for Western Europe and everytime I go away on holidays I might get the 1 week or 1 month license for the region I am visiting.
There could also be associated network charges if you choose to go online and use AGPS when navigating. Network charges can be avoided by pre-loading your maps to your phone using the Map Loader programme and turning AGPS off.

  • Nokia 6220 classic - installation of quick office ...

    Hi guys,
Anyone out here can help me install this applications into my nokia phone? When I start the quick office, I was prompted to purchase the licence..?? anyway to get around it? Thanks!

Some phones come with a pre-installed read-only version of Quickoffice, but the full package which allows you to edit documents and create new ones is not free.
You need to purchase from www.quickoffice.com and the price is only US$50 (unless you need to edit Office 2007 documents -docx etc.- in which case you need the latest version which is a bit more expensive.

  • Nokia 6220 classic auto generated voice tags

    Hi,
Does anyone know if it's possible to disable the annoying voice tags which are generated when receiving a call from a contact? Tried turning the synthesizer off but they are still there.

Presumably nothing happens if you connect to mains charger?

  • Nokia 6220 classic BUGS

Having updated my 6220c recently from 2.23 firmware to 3.46 a very annoying bug came up.
    1)
I found some posts describing this problem, but none of the people had the 6220c:
When I my power off my phone in the evening, the alarm will ring in the morning, BUT only once. The Snooze-function doesn't seem to work, when the phone was shut off. So, when I set my alarm to 7:30 and shut the phone off, it will ring at 7:30. Pressing snooze-button, it won't ring again until I switch it on manually (usually MUCH later and quite frustrated). When the phone is switched on again, the alarm starts saying "7:35 alarm" although it displays the right time (8:30) in the upper left corner...
    2)
Occasionally my phone seems to change date or time. Probably this is the consequence of the first bug? I'm not yet sure about this, but it happened three times since the firmware update. Once my mobile thought, it was yesterday, once it thought it was about 6 days later. But until now, I don't know if it's a real bug, or if it just "happened" by some accident
    3)
No real bug, but somehow annoying:
Why can't I turn off the camera sounds? Even when the silent profile is active the camera confirms focus and shooting with quite annoying sounds.
Feel free to comment and add your own problems with your phone. Maybe some Nokia associate reads the thread and we will get rid of the bugs with the next update ;-)

i know that this is not going to fix your bug per se, however you might just try leaving your phone on at night and during the day. i belive that this bug is temporairly solved by leaving the phone on. it is not the only device that suffers with such issues. i am not sure how come Nokia has not done anything about it yet but sorry to say you are not the only one with this or similarly frustrating issue. just keep in charging overnite, nothing will happen to the phone and you might actually have your alarm fucntion and date/time issue restored. sad i  know, but this is what i have to do.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....
