"fatal error occurred during installation" pops up after downloading itunes
i have recently purchased a new iPod nano, so (on my windows vista acer laptop - which i had previously had itunes on before - my old ipod had broken ages ago so i uninstalled it and everything) i started to download itunes. it had done so with no problems at all. but when it went to install (it didn't do it automatically so i had to click on the icon) the "fatal error occurred during installation" came up without specifying what error. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my laptop etc but nothing has worked. the same message occurs all the time.
can you help me solve this problem as i would like to listen to my music when i go out =[
please and thanks
I have the same problem. Ipod touch purchased for christmas and I cannot load itunes without this fatal error always occuring. Have tried changing access and priveledge controls all to no avail......can anyone help?

"Error 1603. A fatal error occurred during installation"
Ive been trying to install Adobe Photoshop CS4 trial for the past 3 days.
The only reason I want to try it is because of its ability to create textures directly on models.
But whenever I try to install, I get this error
"Adobe Drive CS4
Error:
Error 1603. Fatal error during installation."
Dispite it not saying that Adobe Photoshop CS4 having an error, I still get this screen:

I have read [And done] this forum's instructions fully and it still will not install.

I appreciate any help, here is my systems specs:

I also have some hardcore gaming video memory, but I don't think thats relevent here. :3Disable any anti virus running on Windows 7. Disable windows defender.
Go into start and type in services, click on services, and look for Windows Installer. Turn it from Manual to Auto and hit apply, then start the service and hit ok. close services.
Make sure you run the PS CS4 installer as Admin!!
No need to turn off UAC or the firewall.
Before you run CS4 right click and select properties and run it as Admin.
When you are ready to run CS4 for the first time make sure your connect to the internet. Also update CS4 to 11.0.1 update. Also ensure your video card drivers are up to date -
cannot update itunes or mac os x. I don't know why. Help?
Did you attempt to update with Software Update? Try this instead: download the combo updater here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1361
Once downloaded, unplug all peripherals except keyboard and mouse
Verify disk as outlined previously
install update
repair permissions (Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility)
restart Mac
run Software Update
if there are many updates available, install a few at a time
repair permissions after the install
restart Mac -
Acrobat fatal error 1603: a fatal error occurred during installation
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit with all the latest updates.
I have Acrobat XI standard installed. The updates fail.
I have tried everything:
Uninstalled Acrobat
Run the Acrobat cleaner
Removed all temporary files
Installed the latest .net software
Reinstalled as the administrator
Nothing seems to make a difference
Any and all assistance appreciated. Thanks for getting back to me. I have done all of this. I have run the cleaner tool and I have tried downloading and installing, even doing it release by release and it still doesn’t work, it still gives me the same error. I have Acrobat stand alone, although I do have both reader, Adobe Production Premium CS6 and a couple of other things installed. So I didn’t uninstall everything from Adobe, I just ran the standalone uninstaller for Acrobat and Reader. But I have uninstalled, cleaned, removed temporary files, installed the latest .net version, and installed as the administrator. None of this has helped. Do you have any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Dave -
After installing the lates version of itunes on my Sony Vio, a bubble pops up which says:
iTunes installation complete, ERROR occured during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation process, run the installation again.
I did this, but this bubble keeps appearing. What do I need to do?Hello there, glenkram.
The following article outlines great steps to try for troubleshooting your very issue:
Issues installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows

I tried installing an update to QuickTime. An error occurred and it wouldn't install. I tried removing the QuickTime program, but a window appeared telling me that a fatal error ccurred during installation and I could not remove the program. Now what?
I tried removing the QuickTime program, but a window appeared telling me that a fatal error ccurred during installation and I could not remove the program.
I think we'd better see if some other application (other than QuickTime itself) has dropped old QuickTime componentry in the system files on the PC. (If there's a version mismatch between the old componentry and the "QuickTime proper" componentry, that can create those symptoms.)
So we'll go looking for the older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view options on the PC.
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. In the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected, and the "Hide extensions for known file types" option is unchecked.
5. Click OK.
Now in My Computer, open your C drive.
Open the "Windows" folder.
Open the "system32" folder.
What files and/or folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the file/folder name? (In a standard installation of QuickTime, you should see precisely two files ... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.) -
When upgrading to the latest iTunes, always encounter the msg "error occurred during installation before itunes could be configured" which was running the installer on my window XP.

TS3212 errors occurred during installation
errors occurred during installation.
Hey I finally got an older vesion of itunes to work!!! 10.7 x64 for windows 7
After uninstalling all apple products even quicktime
I had to delete everything from (program files, and program files x64, program data,)
And all downloads from apple, and I went in to search deleted other stuff from apple, and itunes
But definently not my itunes library and Playlist
Down loaded 10.7 x64 for windows 7, but checked (do not start when done)
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
I ran geek tech tool box same as reg cure pro, also PC Tools registry cleaner, and CC Cleaner
Then I emptied my recycling bin and restarted my PC
And wallah... It finally works, and I Love the older version anyways.
Easier to download and transfer music!!!!! -
I get this error when I try to download I-tunes. "Errors occurred during installation before I-tunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified to complete installation. Run installer again. I have tried running the installer again several times and keep getting this error. Any suggestion as to how to fix this?
Finally the above problem was sovled. First click on control panel and search for all Apple software and uninstall all related to Apple software. Then download itunes again and run it to install latest itunes and after installation is finish. All Apple software shall run properly.

Can't install latest version of itunes. "Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified." Help?
I had this, and after a large number of fruitless attempts, I had to reload Windows, which solved it. This was of course a real pain, but I had to do it since updating iTunes was necessary in order to get the new iOS version. But before doing such a drastic thing, you could try to restore Windows to a previous point in time by picking a restore point. This of course presumes that you really have some issues with your Windows (which I had) and that you can make a decent guess on when the system was ok (which I couldn't), i.e that you can decide a good date to restore to.

Reboot fails OS X 10.6.7 mac "error occurred during installation"
Macbook pro wont install OS X 10.6.7 "error occurred during installation"
Try this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now try reinstalling the 10.6.7 update. Be sure you are using the Combo Updater. -
"An error occurred during installation" OS X Lion
I downloaded Lion from the Mac App Store - download went fine. After the installer rebooted and the actual installation began, I keep getting a message stating "An error occurred during installation" at the "About 28 minutes" time. No clue what to do here, so any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I have a new model MacBook running Snow Leopard.

I only found disk 1: Mac OS X installed ESD, and
Disk 2: Mac OS X base system.
Which one I should click?
So you did hold Command option r and booted, not just Command r?
You saw a globe turning as Internet Recovery loaded from Apple's servers?
You need to connected to the Internet to load this from Apple, either by Ethernet cable or using the Wifi connection.
Quit and launch Terminal from the menu and type in this command and press enter, then type the results here
diskutil list
It should look like something like this
HummerMacs-MacBook-Pro:~ hummermacjr$ diskutil list
