Fatal Error while trying to update device software

I have recently purchased my first blackberry (the storm). I have added the desktop manager to my computer and when I connect my device, it automatically checks for updates. It shows that I have have software updates to download, it gives me a summary of applications to update. Then it asks to click finish. When I do that, it goes to an Error message: Fatal error has occured while updating your devices software. Please try again. I have tried many times, and I even removed the desktop manager and reloaded it, with the same results. Any ideas?

What version of the desktop manager are you using? Do you have enough free memory? and what version are you using now, options/status
If someone helped you give them kudos. Research all info!

I am also getting the error 43 when the update tries to back the phone up. Im using the latest version of itunes. This is on an iphone4, I am in the UK.
I tried deleting all of the historical backups to see if a fresh backup folder helps. It did not.
Ive tried running iTunes in 'administrator' mode on my Windows 7 machine. This made no difference.
Ive tried putting the phone in airplane mode. No difference.
I tried getting it into restore mode just to see if it worked on a iphone4. However it did not seem to want to do it.
Im not not too sure about proceeding with this update as I done want to loose any of the apps I have. (or 3 my 3 stars in every angry birds level on all 3 versions of the game!!)

Getting the error "Error while trying to update record" when I try to force complete a plan in DAC

Hello Everyone ,
I am using OBIA 7.9.3.7 . One of my execution plan has finished executing all the tasks but it is still in running mode . When I try to force complete it , it gives the error " Error while trying to update record" . Upon checking the log file , I found the below errors :
MESSAGE:::ORA-04092: cannot COMMIT in a trigger
ORA-06512: at "DAC_CUSTSCM.ETL_FAIL_NOTOFICATION", line 9
ORA-04088: error during execution of trigger 'DAC_CUSTSCM.ETL_FAIL_NOTOFICATION'
EXCEPTION CLASS::: java.sql.SQLSyntaxErrorException
The Plan is in running state for past couple of days . I tried to re-start the DAC services , but again it gave the same error . Kindly suggest .

I receive this error while trying to update to iTunes 10.6.3

I receive this error while trying to complete an Itunes 10.6.3 update.
"The update could not be verified. It may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time that Software Update runs."

I'd try updating using a .dmg installer downloaded from the Apple Website:

Error 807 When trying to update device software

Hi
I've searched the forums for a solution to this and a few people seem to have the same problem but I cannot find a solution.
I was trying to upgrade the device software on a Curve 8310 and it got to the end and crashed- I now get error 807 on the device which I know means no OS.
I know I need to get a new OS on there but as the device is not recognised by USB can anyone advise how I do it?

Rich, that is likely error "507" if you look closely. It means no Operating System on the device (and since you were in the midst of an upgrade, I bet you know that!).
You should be able to plug your BB back to the USB, open DM and it should recognize and prompt for it. If it doesn't prompt you, open Application Loader and see if you can.
If still not, then you will need a JL_Cmder wipe and load of the OS.
You will need to use JL_Cmder to wipe the device and subsequently load the OS to the device. Follow the instructions here:

Error after trying to install device software

Hey i uploaded the v4.5 system pack 2 onto my computer and that works fine. Then i tried installing the v4.5 device software half way thru it said connection was lost so i unpluged the usb. Now when i try turn on my phone it says uncaught exception java.lang.NullPointerException.
Im no computer whiz and this is my first blackberry and i have tried to follow instructions on the net but there in a language i dont follow ...

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
You may have toasted the OS on your BB. Try this first:
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
If that fixes the error, then you can retry the device OK update.
However, it the error continues, you may have to wipe out and reload your device OS with this procedure

Fatal Error when trying to update BB

Ok, trying to keep short. System worked. Running 4.7 on desktop with outlook 07 on Vista. UPdated desktop to V.6. Would no longer recognize any of my 200+ media files. So I reinstalled 4.7. Now I can upload my media, but it will not sync with the rest of my data. All I get is a fatal error.
I know the problem is that the BB Curve 8900 is working on V.6 and the Desktop is running on V4.7, but how do I fix this. I have rebooted and reinstall computer and desktop software. Did not work. I tried to limit the updated modules to try and narrow the error down to a module. After two hours of trying one at a time. They all Fatal errored.
I am to the point that the only solution is to do a hard reset on the BB. The problem with that is that I have registered media on the BB that can not be reinstalled. Am I going to have to Pay for the Media again just because BlackBerry can't write software that works?
Any input and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hard reset has been know to cause some issues with content... but in rare cases and usually only if you have that file open when you pull the battery.
So a battery pull shouldnt affect it.
Or were you referring to a wipe handheld?

ITunes had an error while trying to update my iPhone 6+ and now the phone is bricked (and iTunes is not detecting it)

So I tried Installing iOS 8.3 onto my iPhone 6+, updated iTunes to the latest version, 12.1.2, downloaded the update for the phone, connected my phone - it detected fine like it always does. When I tried installing, it went to about halfway or so and then iTunes said there was a problem updating the phone.
The phone icon disappeared from iTunes and when I checked the phone it was giving the blank screen. I tried turning it off and on again... It showed the apple logo, and then the connect to itunes icon, but iTunes is not detecting it.
Even if I take it out and put it back in again, even with the hard reset holding the home and power buttons. I'm running Windows 8.1. So far I've tried the hard reset, cleaning the connector pins, switching to a a different USB port, reinstalling iTunes, checking to see if the Apple Mobile Device software is up to date, even using a previous restore point in windows.
The device makes a noise when it gets plugged in, indicating that it's being detected by the computer, but iTunes... nothing. And my phone is stuck on showing the connect to iTunes picture and it's bricked and unusable and I'm wondering why I even bothered with this stupid update.

Most of the recent updates showed the connect to iTunes screen for a short time. But if the update was done with the iOS device connected to the computer running iTunes, the Connect to iTunes screen appeared only briefly then the update completed. If your iPhone didn't complete the update you will have to put the iPhone into Recovery Mode. Follow the steps very carefully in the link below. You might have to try several times to get your phone into Recovery Mode.

i changed my xml by replacing update stmt in <insert> but still facing same problem.
One thing the table with columns customer name, amount,comments.
the customer name have some spl character like *"&"* (john&Franklin).I think this might be a problem(special char &),due to this getting error????

Tried to update device software, now can't connect to device via USB

I tried to update my 8100 to the 4.5 software. I first updated the desktop software to 4.7, then tried to update the device, but the process failed.
Now, when I open desktop manager it shows as not connected to the device. I can go into the device mamager properties and select the balckberry, but when I return to the destop amanger it says no device.
It appears that whatever I do it does not recognise the usb device.
The display on the 8100 is only text, no graphics or phone company info, and it is basically inoperable.
There are options on the display for some applications, but if I choose them, it says app not found.
Is there a way to force an update to it? Or have I poohed this phone?

I have pulled the battery on the unit to reboot it, and have tried going back to an older revision of desktop manager

Go to Solution.

1. Unplug the BB from the USB and PC. Reboot the PC completely from off.
2. For the BB, you might not have loaded back the Theme that was in use on the device when you upgraded, which will normally give you a black/white screen. You need to follow the instructions below.

Error while trying to update my Ipad for new iOS5 :(

On trying to update to the lastest iOs5 version for my Ipad, after syncing everything correctly, a last pop-up shows " Error occured while backing up Ipad (-37) Continue will result in lost of all contents of Ipad"...what do i need to do or fix!? Help please!!

Stale data error while trying to update row.

I have a search page, from where i would like to select a particular record and update some of its attributes. But when i try to commit the transaction, i get the error below:
Unable to perform transaction on the record. \nCause: The record contains stale data. The record has been modified by another user. \nAction: Cancel the transaction and re-query the record to get the new data.
My Results table, based on VO1(based on EO), has an image item which submits the page and opens another page with the details of the current record, and provides the user with an option to update one of the attributes. The second page, where the user updates the attributes is based on another VO (say VO2, which again is based on the same EO as VO1).
Behind the Apply button, i call a method in the AM which simply commits the transaction and then re-directs to the original search page and displays the confirmation message.

Hi,
I noticed that this error is occuring only under certain conditions.
In my application a particular record can have 4 statuses (Draft, Submitted, Cancelled and Technical Query). But when a record is being updated, it can only be updated to Draft, Technical Query or Cancelled.
The error occurs ONLY when i am trying to update a record which is in Submitted Status to any other status. If i update a record from Draft -> Technical Query/Cancelled, there are no issues!!!
I cant figure out where the problem lies.
The poplist picks up values from a lookup.
Any idea how to debug this situation?

"Update Failed" error while trying to update Bridge and Photoshop (U44M1l216)

I'm having issues just trying to update Photoshop and Bridge.
I have Adobe CC 2014 on a Late 2012 Mac Mini OSX Yosemite (though I was also having this issue before I upgraded from Mavericks a few days ago) This is a work computer that's only had these programs for 2-3 weeks- as this is a new job, so everything is really fresh with installs and so on.
When Updating the to the Latests Apps I get this Window:
When I click "Learn More" I get these Windows:
Googling this Error Number only takes me to error codes similar but the number isn't quite right.
I stumbled upon a thread with similar numbers and tried installing the updates directly from the Adobe Website, and they failed. I did that last week so i don't have screenshots of the exact error. If you need me to do that again to get more diagnostic information, please let me know. I also tried reinstalling Adobe Extension manager and it did nothing either way in affecting the situation.
I have no idea what's wrong or what to do to figure this out.
Any help or clarity would help.

I found a solution:
I have try all: Uninstall, reinstall, reboot, Clean... and nothing have worked until I have seen somebody saying this:
to fix this (on a PC)
1: open up the Creative Cloud control panel, and quit out.
2: Navigate to C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater
3: Delete (or rename) the directory named "1.0"
4: restart Creative Cloud
5: Got to the App manager and update
I try that but didn't work. But finally a notice (in my case) in this directory (C:\Users\Bart Raven\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Install\AdobeAfterEffects-13.0.0-Trial\13.0.2) I had a SETUP.ZIP file of the 13.0.2 update that was BROKEN and it didn't want to unzip. IT WAS A SETUP.ZIP file BROKEN.
THAT WAS THE PROBLEM!!
I download a new 13.0.2 update from this site:

and put it unziped in the same directory: ((C:\Users\Bart Raven\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Install\AdobeAfterEffects-13.0.0-Trial\13.0.2)
RUN IT, and finally everything works fine again!!
Then i put the last update from the Adobe Cretive Cloud.
SO, The problem is a broken SETUP.ZIP file update in some place in here: C:\Users\Bart Raven\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Install - for WINDOWS.
Just replace it for a good one.
