Fatal1ty Gaming headset on a Mac possible?

Hello, I've had the USB Fatal1ty gaming headset (HS-1000) for a few weeks now and love it. I'm going to be going to college soon, and my parents bought me a Macbook to take with me, but the headset doens't appear to work. The light on the cord won't come on at all. I've seen websites selling a "Mac" version of this headset, and I was wondering if there is any way to change the firmware in the ones I currently own to allow them to work with a mac? If there is any other solution besides a firmware update, I'm willing to try that also. Thanks in advance.

Using a headset needs several steps even needed if you have the latest computer or Mac OS X release. Please make sure to follow them in order.
Download the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater
Install it
Launch it from Applications > Utilities > Bluetooth Updater
Apply it to your adapter (takes very long).
Start the Apple Bluetooth Assistant and select Headset. Do not use anything else!
Make your headset Bluetooth visible. Look up the manual of your headset how to do that.
Now select the headset in System Preferences > Sound.
In most cases step 3 is missed. You have to start the already installed updater yourself (do not ask me why). Step 4 fails if your Bluetooth USB adapter is not supported by Apple and you have to go for a D-Link DBT-120 USB adapter.

The MIC on the headset. Doesn't work..?
I am running Vista Home Prem 32, and i've heard that it is possible to get the mic working, but takes a while. I bought my headset today, spent all day trying to sort out the mic, while i could've been playing the Call of Duty 5 MP PC Beta with my mates, but i couldn't speak to them cause of this.
Is there any fix? I am DESPERATE to get this working. Seriously.
I word from a mod or admin would be nice..
    Thanks.

  • Problems with mic (fatal1ty gaming headset)

    hi,
i used to have a mic but the problem was that i could hear myself, but my computer didnt recognize the mic, so i bought the creative fatal1ty gaming headset but i'm still having the same problem so i think its my computer... i'm using the plug-in in the back cuz the one in front doesnt work...
so if anyone could help me i would be VERY gratefull
    grtz, alex

OK now ivé had it with Creative and the crappy products they sell. I´ve been buying ALOT of electronic stuff over the years and all creative products have been a total disaster. mp3 players that breaks down in 6 weeks,YEA ALL 3 of THEM DID!!!, soundcards that dosnt support half of the functions stated in the manual, Crappy drivers that actually gets WORSE when updated, and now a headset with no working mic!!! Cmon a mic is pretty basic stuff but still Creative manage to screw it up. Im breaking my X-Fi soundcard in half and throwing it in the garbage along with my Fatal1ty headset and my creative 5.1 speaker system.

  • Computer not regonizing Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

I bought the USB Fatal1ty gaming headset. I plugged it in and the computer doesn't regonize it. Was this supposed to come with a CD with drivers? If so, mine didn't.
    Where do I find drivers?
    Anyone else had this issue.
    Thanks.

    Hi Marnad1963,
Can you try plugging the headset to another USB port? If you have multiple USB devices, please remove them to see if it helps.

  • Echoes using Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

Hello, I got Fatal1ty gaming headset and have been using it for 2 weeks maybe, but today I started to hear echoes in it while talking on ventrilo and playing games. Is it my drivers I need to update or something? The headset havent been the victim of some blows or something and wasnt broken from beginning.
    Thanks

Slightly the same problem only the echoing is on a MUCH bigger scale then just hearing a normal echo. If I am listening to music or listening to anything for that matter, the sound slowly slows down until it dies out and then not a half second later a loud screeching noise comes back in it's place like it is playing the music only if you didn't know it was music you wouldn't know what the heck this noise was. I have to restart my computer for it to go back to normal. It is very garbled and echos and is so harsh on my ears I have to remove my headset until i can get it to stop.

  • Surround Sounds Gaming Headsets on the Mac?

Any have any experience with or know of any surround sound headsets that work with the Mac? I've been hunting around for one (for Gaming/Skype) and most of the headsets that I found don't support the Mac. Or, when they, do, it's stereo only - no 5.1/7.1 surround.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?
    - Are there any Mac USB Surround Headsets?
    - Does Snow Leopard even support surround output over USB? (I know my Mac Pro works well connected via TOSLink to a surround system.)
    Thanks in advance!

if you run windows in bootcamp you are running the windows natively. that means the quality will be as good as your hardware can support. I only have a couple of games but they run excellent in bootcamp as near as I can tell. hard disk space is a different matter but you'll have to deal with that either way.

  • Inspire P7800 + X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty + Fatal1ty Gaming Headset?

Hello, I am in need of a new audio system for my PC/Xbox 360.
The ideal setup for me is to have the sound card in my PC, using the headset for most activities such as gaming, while using the speakers to watch TV and movies and play the Xbox 360. Since I get TV through my computer already, I figure that shouldn't be a problem. However, a couple questions I have are:
    1. Do the P7800 speakers have an optical input?
    2. If not, is it possible to plug an optical line from the Xbox into the card and have the card output surround sound through the 3.5mm connections to the speakers?
    3. Is it possible to connect the headset and speakers at the same time to the soundcard?
    Thanks in advance.

thx man, im really appreciated about that. i was close to sell my card cause i got so much problems with it.. but now when i read your sentence, i guess there is now alot hope to enjoy bugfree with my soundcard in the future

  • No voices in music when using Fatal1ty Gaming Headset (not USB)...

As it sais, I just recieved my headset from cdon.com in Sweden. Ive tested it in games, movies and music the problem is, I cant get any voices at all from Music, all I hear are the instruments playing and the bass, ive tried different equalizer setups, even my custom and higher/lower volume, nothing works.
    same thing happens in music.

    hiya m8
i got the same headset as u and the problem u say i had that and to fix it isssssss!!!!
trow the **bleep** mice away lol rly it sucks bad mine mice broke like 1month of using it.
and dont even try to contact creative about it becouse the wont help you.
The headset has good sound and nothing more.
If u want people to hear u good buy a mice that is like a standard alone mice and get USB soundcard or something
This headset has no drivers becouse its just analog it has no USB so if u got problems with the mice its the headset or the mice or the plug from it.

  • Hs-1000 vs Fatal1ty Gaming Headset

Besides the Hs-1000 using USB and having its own driver with its own control panel. What is the difference between the two? Does it really matter which one you get if you have a x-fi card like the xtremegamer all ready, in terms of sound quality? And does it fit better? is the HS-1000 smaller? or are they just exactly the same but one is USB and a stand alone device?
Message Edited by Phantom93 on 04-21-2009 08:21 PM

found another humming sound, got that fixed by getting my computer grounded/earthened with copper wire onto a heating pipe.
the modem sound appeared to be a constant sound (tick-tick-tick-tritick-tick) plus some background noise which i was able to fix by unchecking the mic boost option.

  • Fatality USB gaming headset problem

My headset is connected via the usb cord to the computer. It has worked perfect until now. Whenever I start a program or check the volume settings for the microphone it simply turns off. The LED light on the controller turns off as well. For example, if I go into sound settings in vista and click on the "recording tab" the led light turns off. The led light is on whenever I do other things and I can hear sounds all the time. If I go into skype and connect a call the led light also turns off and people can't hear me. What can I do about this?
    Please help me out guys
    //Fredrik

Short answer seems to be that you are pretty much S.O.L.
I purchased the same headset, non-USB version, about 15 months ago. Having my own microphone issue but customer service cites a 12 month warranty and won't help.

  • Is the Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset HS-1000 for Mac compatible with a PC?

    Hi,
I mistakenly purchased the Fatal1ty USB Gaming Headset HS-1000 for Mac instead of the PC version.
Are these still compatible with my PC even though they say "for Mac"? They have a USB connector just like my headphones and I have had people say that they "should" work, but I wanted to verify this.
I already had one pair that I purchased a while back for my PC and they work great but my wife wanted these also and I didn't realize there were two versions. If they will still work with a PC, I will just keep them. I just didn't want to open them up and find out that they don't.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

I found something else out , the MIC is recoginized at startup when i have the problem , but not the headphones .

  • Creative Labs Fatal1ty Professional Series Gaming Headset MkII

I bought a set of Creative Labs Fatal1ty Professional Series Gaming Headset MkII about a month ago and my son accidentally broke the mic. So I emailed Creative Labs customer service/tech support, not requesting a warranty replacement, but instead offering to pay for a new mic to be sent to me. This is the response I received:

Explain this to me again. Why is it not possible for me to just buy a mic to replace the broken one? I have bought 3 sound cards and three headsets prior to the Fatal1ty MkII’s from Creative Labs and have had nothing but total praise for each of them. I bought my new Fatal1ty MkII’s about a month ago for $80 and now I’m told the only way to get a new mic is to spend another $80 and get another new set. Seriously Cooler Master can send me a nut for a heatsink mounting kit, Corsair can send me a new modular connector for my PSU but you, Creative labs, refuse to help me out with getting a new mic for a very expensive headset and I’M OFFERING TO PAY FOR IT. I live and support my family paycheck to paycheck and cannot afford to shell out another $80 for a new headset, especially when the one I have now works just fine and just needs a mic. If I am forced to buy a new headset, it will not be a Creative Labs headset, which is very unfortunate since I completely love the Fatal1ty MkII’s and already miss them. A response would be greatly appreciated.

Ok getting irritated now. I get the email ok'ing the replacement for $5 + $5 to ship it and I immediately reply agreeing and asking how I should pay. Then the next email is from your rep is almost a complete contradiction from the previous. I called the support # and was basically told the same thing the last email said and to call back Monday. I 'm not calling back just to get the run-around again so can someone actually help me out with an honest and straight answer. Here's the email thread:
