Phone does not work
HELLO BT?
This is the third time now that we have had this "problem is in the house " line ( when it was not) and looking on here we are far from alone. BT clearly happy to let the customer do as much of the run around as they can get away with. This includes the seventh circle of hell "if you want to know about Dante press 1" phone algorithms.
Suggest anyone who is charged for an engineer call that is deemed unnecessary let it get to court and use BT 's own forum as evidence of abject failure to distinguish on their part what is and isn't a customer responsibility.
There...rant over...that feels so much better.
Meanwhile who knows someone high up at bt might move in to our area and this will magically go away? ;-)) x

My 1 year and 1 month old iPhone 4s developed a WiiFi fault which it was not possible to resolve.  I visited the Apple store in Brighton for the assistance of a Genius.  He too was unable to resolve the fault.  He said that as the phone was over a year old that there was nothing that he could do for me as the phone carries a 1 year warranty.  He offered to sell me a reconditioned iPhone 4s as a replacement.  This cost me a further £150.00.  I was/am still paying for the phone through my contract, the phone that I no longer have!
A work collegue had a similar fault with his iPhone, although his phone was older by approx 6 to 10 months.  He did what I did and visited the local Apple store to see a Genius and was straight away offered a brand new replacement phone for no additional payment.
Has anyone else had a similar experience and does anyone have any advice?  I am furious about this double standard of customer support! And I can not find a way to email to Apple directly for customer service advice!

Thank you for your advice.  If I lived closer to the store I would do just that.  By using the forum it was not my intention to breach any TOS.
I speak to collegues and people advise me to email to Apple.  They say that Apple always looks after its customers.  I only wish to find a way to email to Apple to see if there is anything that they can do for me.  I suspect not.
You regular forum users appear to me to be well versed Apple device  users and as such maybe you could point me in the right direction to be able to email to customer support as I can not find a link!

    Hi rafter0,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
You are referencing the correct Knowledge Base article for your issue:
The most common issue seems to be with firewalls and security software.
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error3000
Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes can't contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software isn't interfering with ports 80 or 443 or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (go to "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you're using a proxy, try again without using a proxy.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
    Hope this helps ...

My Wi-Fi connection on my iMac drops frequently. The other computers in the house do not have this problem. If I go into the Network Preferences and choose my Network it connects immediately but it does not remember the setting and I must reselect my network frequently.

The iMac picks up a wireless signal from the back of the screen, so you would want to avoid having it close to a wall, or in a confined area where the wireless signal cannot easily reach the iMac's antenna.
We don't know how far the iMac is from your wireless router, or how many walls or other obstructions might be in the signal path that would limit the quality of signal that the iMac receives.
Nor do we know whether you might have a cordless phone near the iMac, or whether you may be using a wireless keyboard and/or mouse....all of which can interfere with the wireless signal.
Can you provide some more info on this?

Had a similar problem a number of years ago with a laptop my daughter had. The probelm turned out to be the router. What kind of router do you have? Have you checked for firmware updates, or at least tried re-booting it?

  • Line connected in house but not underground?

    Hi
We had an engineer fit a new line into our house about 5 weeks ago. It is still not an active line. We keep trying to ring through to BT but we keep being disconnected when we get transferred back to the UK. We were told BT would keep us updated with what was going on by email but we have heard nothing.
Sorry if this is the wrong forum but wanted some advice. We have to drive out 18 miles to our families addresses to use a telephone to contact Bt which is very frustrating especially when you sit on the phone for 45mins to be disconnected.
We were told by the person who fitted the line that it needed to be connected underground and should be done within 24 hours. Please could someone tell me what is taking so long and how long i am likely to have to wait.
    Thank you
    Lottie

'They have said there is a fault on the line and they have to get planning permission to dig up the road to correct it. Is this normal?'
Sometimes they do need to get permission sometimes they don't, really depends on what kind of road it is and its location.
'I thought all they had to do was attach us their end.'
They have to attach your line at the Line Concentrator to the Main Distribution Frame, then in the Cabinet they have to connect the Exchange side cable to the Distribution Point cable, terminate it at the Distribution Point then do the fit in your house. If there is a break in the line between any of them points then it will need to be fixed.
'Would this not affect my landladies line too?'
No, each phone line is a single pair of wires that run from the back of your master socket all the way to the Exchange. Just because one pair of wires is faulty doesn't mean they all are.

  • ABAP proxy exception to SOAP fault and vice versa not getting mapped

    Hi there,
I have these scenario's: ABAP proxy to SOAP (AXIS framework) and the other way around, synchronous, using AAE.
When declaring the Synchronous Service interfaces we also defined error message types in order to pass system and application exceptions back to the service consumers.
    The behavior we are observing is as follows;
When an exception is generated on the ABAP proxy, the error message type is correct generated and filled with the corresponding values in the ABAP proxy runtime. However, when the response arrives at the service consumer, it only contains a SOAP fault filled with some kind of generic PI mapping exception information.
    1. Why is the original ABAP proxy exception not mapped/passed into the SOAP response?
    2. What can we do in order to change that situation?
    3. Does it has to do with the use of the AAE - Advanced Adapter Engine or the AXIS framework?
PS: We have performed a test of the Operation Mapping - OM using the ABAP exception as input and it did work correctly, so the error structure seems to be Ok.
    Many thanks for your replies.

Problem was caused by some differences in namespaces between source and target.

  • HT4557 Homesharing house icon not showing in menu bar & hr glass circle only half full on ipod when trying to connect to library.

I seen others with the same issue and I read through the links and did not find the answer. In my instance, the homesharing is enabled in iTunes (version 11.5) and on my ipod 4 (version 6.1.3), but in iTunes the house icon and well as the “SHARED” part of the side menu do not show. When I select the library in my ipod the hr glass circle gets half way filled and then stops.
I was thinking it might be my router, so I changed the security settings from WPA to WPA2 (as others have tryed which fixed thier issue) and back with no luck. There was a firmware update that was needed on my router, but that didn't fix it either.
Shouldn't the house icon appear in iTunes regardless whether there is an internet connection to the other device (in this case my ipod)??? I had homesharing working on my old netbook a year or two ago and I thought the house icon always showed when enabled whether I had my system connected to a router or not. I could be wrong though.
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello vio412,
Thank you for providing the details of the Home Sharing issue you are experiencing.  The Home Sharing icon is not always visible.  If you would like it to show so that you can verify you are signed in with the correct account, you can follow these steps:
Go to File > Home Sharing and choose Turn Off Home Sharing.
Choose File > Home Sharing > Turn On Home Sharing.
When prompted, enter the Apple ID you'd like to use.
Click Turn On Home Sharing, then Done.
After you press done, it is normal for the Home Sharing icon to disappear.  I found these steps in the article listed below.  I recommend reviewing the full article to troubleshoot issues with Home Sharing:

  • House Bank not picked in the payment proposal - F110

    Dear All
We have done the FBZP configurations to use  F110 automatic payment run. However the house bank and account ID does not get picked automatically. We have to go line by line and reallocate. We have maintained the payment method, and house bank ranking order. Please let us know if there are any other changes that we need to make for the house bank to be be picked automatically ????
    Thank you
    Gayani

    Hi,
Please try to maintain bank detail in vendor master and if bank details are not maintained while posting than APP will not pick the house bank and bank account.
Now, you can add the bank detail in vendor master for future invoice posting, bank detail will be picked by APP in future runs. For current open item you need to use mass update for line items.

  • How to capture SOAP fault when using "Do not use SOAP envelope" parameter

    Hi,
we have a synchronous  RFC -> XI -> Web Service scenario. The Web Service requires some custom SOAP header elements for user authorization which forced us create the entire SOAP message in a message mapping and to set the "Do not use SOAP envelope" parameter in the receiving SOAP adapter.
In order to capture the SOAP fault message from the Web Service we have created a message interface with a fault message and also created an interface mapping with a fault message mapping.
Our problem is that the fault message is not populated when we get a SOAP fault message back from the Web Service. Is this due to the fact that we have set the  "Do not use SOAP envelope" parameter?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Error -8. Can iChat w/computer in house but not across the net

Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
I can initiate and carry on a Video Chat with another Mac in our house, but get communication error 8 almost every time I try to Video Chat to anyone across the Internet.
    Here is my setup:
Time Warner (Road Runner). Most recent speed test was 6600kb down and 478kb upstream.
Toshiba PCX1000 Cable Modem (probably 8 years old)
Apple Airport Extreme (802.11n) router (1 month old)
Apple MacBook Pro (less than 1 month old)
I do not have the Firewall turned on on the Mac.
Have tried changing port to 443. Have changed all Quicktime and iChat settings to recommended changes in this forum.
Here is my most recent error log while trying to connect to appleu3test01 on AIM.
