Fault recording two programmes
Hi, I'm having an issue recording on my Sky+HD 2TB box, when trying too record a programme that's already got something else planned to be recorded at the same time my box previously added it to the planner and if you would try to record a third programme, it would throw up a screen telling you to delete one of the previously planned programmes, this was fine on the count of the box only having two feeds, it would then give the "colour button" option of going to advanced settings where you could see how all three would overlap.now since the very recent minor update which added the kids planner part on the epg, when I go to record a second programme, it pops up with a messege saying that "You already have scheduled recordings at this time, Press BACK UP to return.", the term "recordings" implies there are more than one previously planned programmes but as you can see from image 1, I only have the one, so I currently can't record two simultaneous recording, I have done a sky+ rebuild using the HOUSEKEEPING function and I have double checked my sat feed physically and on screen and both are live and well, the only thing I can think of is that it's something that's occurred at the same time as the the minor update last week that had added the new kids section on my home screen which is when this problem started. I've tried all that I can currently think off, I am a self confessed beta tester geeky sort of guy and have tried everything an advanced end user can do or can currently think to try, so I'm pretty lost with this at the moment
The new Clash screen came in with R011 and isn't much use as it no longer shows you the full clash, nor does it let you change things without going into the Planner.
That notwithstanding, that doesn't explain the issue you're now getting when trying to record two programs.
Presumably, you can watch one program whilst another is recording? Meaning that both feeds are working fine.

Mapping with Scd operator set to type 2 reading source records two times
Mapping with Scd operator set to type 2 reading source records two times.Records selected count being displayed at the end of execution is double the source record count. This possibly is affecting the performance of the mapping.
Is this a bug in scd type 2 operagtor in OWB 11gR2.How to rectify this umwamted double loop through the source data selectiom?Hi Roelant,
I think it is important to be aware that although Paris - 10gR2 - is not actually buggy (in this respect!), it is really quite idiosyncratic in exactly how it processes SCDs.
I followed up on your and Mark's comments, and did an in depth analysis of this topic. It is at http://www.donnapkelly.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/documents/OWB_10gR2_SCD.pdf
My conclusions are perhaps of interest to anyone considering doing SCD processing with Paris.
I'll be doing a follow-up this weekend, and publishing a sort of 'how-to-do-it' guide.
Cheers,
Donna

How to watch a live broadcast show while recording two other shows
If you have a TV with a QAM tuner built in and you use a splitter to connect the cable to the cable/antenna input of your TV while leaving a connection to the DVR, you will be able to watch a broadcast show live while recording two other shows on your DVR. I tried this and it worked, but the channels I had access to (that seemed to be ones I was interested in) were basically the broadcast channels (in my area 3.1, 6.1, 10.1, 12.1, etc.). Obviously you don't have access to the other features such as on demand, but it's handy to be able to handle three shows at the same time as long as one is on one of the channels available with the direct connection to your TV.
Of course, this also provides a way to avoid the cost of additional set top boxes as long as you don't need access to the additional channels features like on demand.
Bob S.OR if you're tv's older and doesn't have the qam tuner, you can hook up a HD antenna for 30 dollars, and if you live in an area that gets reasonable reception, you'll get something similiar to what you describe.
both are good solutions. -
F10 - create video DVD from recorded TV programme
When I try to create a DVD from a recorded TV programme on my Qosmio F10 I get the following message-
"Media in the CD/DVD drive is not writable by Media Center"
I know that the media is writable by the Qosmio under normal windows but under Media Center it doesn't work on any format of DVD - data, video or DVD slide show.
Any ideas?
Tia,
LesHi
I found information that the driver upgrade can solve the problem.
Furthermore you can check this links. There useful und interesting news about Media Center.

Not recording whole programmes
Recently, (about two weeks) my you view box has been dicking about with recordings. We have a few season records set up and now and again when I go to watch an episode it has only recorded 4 mins, it's usually 4 but sometimes it's 2. It also happens when recording films, I would sit down to watch a movie I recorded two days ago and to my horror I see the dreaded PART RECORDED and I feel like launching the box out the window. Anyone got any ideas, I've done the usual full reboot but still dicking about. Thanks in advance, Ryan.
New software
20.9.30
2.8.18
1234
220
Resolves this, 220 bit might be different on yours but the important part is the 20.9.30
You can check and upgrade via Youview/Settings -
How can I record two instances of Addictive Drums simultaneously?
Hi, I'm having no luck with something I thought would be simple. I want to run and record two iterations of XLN Addictive Drums in two separate tracks simultaneously in Garage Band X. I play a Yamaha DTXtreme IIIs e-kit as the MIDI trigger. Because Addictive drums doesn't have enough "openings" in a single kit to accomodate all my cymbals, I want to run two iterations with the extra cymbals on an iteration. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, I can't get both tracks to record simultaneously, even though I enabled multi-track recording and armed both tracks. Help?
flagg1337 wrote:

unfortunately, while GB can record many audio tracks, it is restricted to a single MIDI track at a time.
fortunately, GB offers "Cycle Recording," perhaps that will work for what you're attempting
turn it on in GB's prefs, turn on the Cycle Region button and hit record. each pass will merge with the previous one, so you could, for example, play kick, wait till the next pass to play the snare, etc -

(X-Fi Xtremegamer) Recording two streams of audio simultaneously via "What U Hear"
Hello everybody.
I'm running Windows 7 32bit and have downloaded and installed drivers from creative download page.
Also performed an update. Integrated sound card (realtek high def) is disabled from BIOS. So my system
detects only X-Fi Xtremegamer.
I want to be able to record music in background and voice/guitar (input from FlexiJack) together.
Currently I have set "Audio Creation Mode" for my sound card and have chosen FlexiJack input to be a microphone.
So the problem is, when I set "What U hear" in windows recording devices as the default recording device, in idea it must record everything together. Audio being played in background and my voice over it from microphone alltogether.
The problem is, once I set "What you hear" as the default recording device, my microphone immediately goes into "currently unavailable" state. If I put mic back as defaul rec dev, it becomes active again. This is very very frustrating.
I know people here are pros who may have very sophisticated setups with all that MIDI controllers, routing etc. And you may tell me "So whats the problem, just set the music play on one channel of Audition for example and record your voice with mic as default recording device on the other one".
Yes it is a valid notice, but there are situations when I really need to record both, background music/sounds along with microphone input sound simultaneously. A good example is online karaoke site(s) who need both sound streams to be recorded simultaneously and in realtime.
Could anybody, please, give me an advise how to correct this problem? I don't want to throw away such a nice piece of hardware just because of this problemOh, boy... You have my sympathy with the 'What-U-Hear' thing...recording two audio streams at once (mic etc)...
I just upgraded my home studio system to a Win7 computer...I use SONAR to do my digital/MIDI work...
On my old WinXP machine (a Pentium 4 with 4 gig RAM), I had the luxury of actually being ABLE to record in 'What-U-Hear' mode...
I figured I needed a new soundcard with my new Win7...so I went out and bought the well-recommended M-Audio Audiophile 192 PCI card...
Big mistake...I CAN'T record ANY 'What-U-Hear' streams at all!!...I wanted to tear out the new M-Audio card and plunk my trusty old Audigy 2 back in...but, the problem is not that Creative doesn't have Win7 drivers...it's that the SOFTWARE that came with it is largely useless according to the Creative site.
Funny, I transferred all my files from the old computer (including all the Creative apps) to the new Win7 computer, and guess what? Good old 'WAVE STUDIO' from 2001 - version 4:12:07 - works just fine (WITH the ****ed M-Audio card, too!)...
However, I STILL can't get the M-Audio 192 to do 'What-U-Hear' recording...!!
I wonder if I DID put the old Audigy in my new Win7 computer...would that most important bit of Creative software that I use all the time (Wave Studio)...work?
What a minefield!
But about your particular problem...I think it is something to do with memory addressing, that the mic won't work with other audio streams...
There is a program called 'DIGITAL CABLES' available on ZDNET for free download (costs $30 in full version) that is SUPPOSED to get around the 'What-U-Hear' problem...but, I'm afraid to screw everything up...since I use my system regularly to do work for my church choir...
cheers...

Recording two USB mics at the same time
Is there any kind of special set up needed to record two usb microphones into Garageband at the same time – and so they record onto two different tracks.
Thanks,
RayIs that in System Preferences or is it an app in
Applications?
It's an App in /Applications/Utilities/
Can you give some more details?
Launch Audio MIDI Setup and check the Help.
I would not have ever thought to
look at MIDI settings to record vocals from a mic.
Well it is Audio MIDI Setup B-)>
guess I thought maybe I would be able to select each
mic just using GarageBand.
GarageBand only allows you to choose a single device for Input.

Can I record two stereo tracks at once in Logic 9.1.1?
I've read many people's arguments as to why one may or may not want to do this, but I do - to replicate a specific effect. My only question (really) is: if it can be done, how?
In PT, I just press record enable on the two tracks, and I am recording as I'd like - in Logic 9.1.1 I have yet to discover if, or how.....
I've tried a number of arbitrary key commands when clicking on the second track's "record enable" button, but to no avail.
Many thanks for your repliesJoel DuBay wrote:
I want to record on two separate stereo tracks, from the same source at the same time.
Why? Copying afterwards would yield the +exact same result.+
However, you can record two files at once: Create two audio tracks, the first takes the actual input and has its output set to say *Bus 29,* the second track has Bus 29 as an input, now you can record both tracks.
You can also use bus 13, 17 or 23. Or any other not yet in use. -
Can alesis multimix 6 usb record two independent channels at once?
Hello All,
Bought the multimix 6 usb as a simple way to record two players in logic studio.
Cannot get independent control over channel 1 and channel 2, both are
recorded together?
Someone said USB cannot record independent channels that i need firewire?
DWRBryan did you look at the Firewire 410 and 1814?
Yes, I looked at the 410. They said "2 x8 24-bit analog I/O" but I'm not sure what that means because it also says "dual mic/instruments preamps w/ gain control (66dB available gain) and phantom power". So I understand that to mean it will only run two of my SE1A mikes and I'm not clear what the other 8 analog I/Os are. Perhaps they're line inputs that can be fed from an external mixer? That would be fine.
If I buy this gizmo, will GarageBand (or Ableton Live) allow me to choose any of the 8 inputs for a track, so I can record multiple inputs on multiple tracks simultaneously?
These are great times for home recording, eh? The 410 is only $300 at Zzounds.
I looked at the close-up picture at Zzounds. It shows 8 "Line Outputs" and two "Line Inputs" jacks. Surely this is a labeling mistake? I want instrument inputs. -

Need help please I'm new to this forum... I have been having a few problems with my recordings like others I try to play back programme I have recorded and get nothing and also trying to delete a programme I'm getting a message to say I can't delete as the programme may be running on another box!!! I only have 1 box!!! I have tried all the rebooting fixes but no joy... I have an old white style hh... Is this or the box tired and in need of replacing??? I've also checked the settings and I'm online and have space on my disk!!! HelpWe have had the same problem, which is really frustrating!!
The box appears to be recording but when the programme is played back, it stops during the programme and goes to the resume play on the menu or sometimes the channel isn't there, its just a black screen, I'm thinking of going to Sky if it carries on, getting really fed up now!!!

Recording two sync applications with CP4
I try to record two Windows applications (two executables) which interact each other : for example, from the application #1 I select a vehicule in a list and in the application #2 this vehicule is located on a map layer. One application is running on monitor 1 and the other is running on monitor 2 (dual monitors). I'd like to record a slide from the application #1 and then a slide of the result on the application #2. I can't manage to do it :
- If I run one instance of Captivate 4, I can only choose one application
- If I run two instances of Captivate 4 and if I choose application #1 for the first instance and application #2 for the second one, it doesn't work : when I run the second recording (click on the red point), nothing is recorded ...
A workaround would be to record the slides for application #1 in project #1 and then for application #2 in project #2, and then copying (to the right location) the slides of project #2 inside the project #1 but I think is not a "stylish" method ...
Thanks in advance for your advices !Hi there
I might think you could accomplish this as follows:
Start the applications and start Captivate. Record the first application up to the point where it interacts with the second. Then end the recording in Captivate. In Captivate, elect to record more slides (which will be appended to the existing recording) then choose the second application to be recorded.
Cheers... Rick

Recording two programs whilst watching a previousl...
Until a few weeks ago I have been able to record two programs AND watch a previous recording without difficultly. Now, for example, if I have set up two recordings to start at 9pm and before that time I start to watch a recording come 9pm the recording I am watching stops and I get the black screen with the blue 'continue' box. I press continue and it just keeps popping up. (This would have happened previously but as soon as I pressed 'continue' the recording would indeed continue). Now if I want to continue watching the recording I have to go in and delete one of the recordings that has just started. I hope that all makes sense! It is really annoying and I don't understand what has changed to make this happen? anyone got any ideas?
How annoying is that. I haven't cone across this myself has anyone else?
I hope it is not another "feature"
