Fault with iPad photo connector kit

I have a photo connector kit for SD card into iPad 2.  It has worked successfully until now when it loads the pictures but the button to press to import does not work so I cannot download them.   Is this a fault with the connector or the iPad?

I take the card from camera and put it in the camera connection kit, choose photos on ipad and insert.   Photos on card load up as usual.   I tick the ones I want to import then press the Import Symbol.  Nothing happens.   I press as usual then try a light tap or a longer press but no response.

  • Problems with iPad camera connector kit

I used the camera connector kit yesterday with my sd card and it worked fine. I have tried to use it again today and it comes up with Contents not available, cannot read the connected storage media. Any suggestions as to how to get it to work?

How are the photos getting onto the card, directly from the camera or are you copying them onto the card from your computer ? If you are copying them onto the card then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them.
If the card has come straight from the camera then try a reset of the iPad and see if the photos are then recognised : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Connector/Hardware fault with Ipad 3G/32

I am extremely disappointed and would appreciate any help. I have owned my Ipad for just over 2 weeks and have just landed in Thailand. I had thought this would be the ideal travel companion.
Unfortunately it seems I have a lemon. I am unable to get it recognized on any PC, here is what I have tried:
    1. Windows 7 laptop, on all 3 USB ports. Have used the apple cable, as well as an aftermarket griffen cable. In both cases, there is no reaction whatsoever on the PC or Ipad.
    2. Have tried on a colleagues laptop as well (also win7) with the same result.
    3. I purchased the aftermarket apple wall charger and dock. When connected to the wall, the Ipad indicates 'not charging'.
    4. I have reset the ipad as per instructions in other threads. I have even gone so far as to delete all the apps and data (via setting, general, reset).
At the moment it is showing the 'connect to itunes' graphic and i cant get it to connect to anything.
I am really at my wits end. I believe I have read all the threads and kb articles. I have checked device manager to see if its a driver problem.
I can only conclude that my unit is a dud?
As a last resort before returning it I am hoping someone can give me some advise.
One important note is that it seems this behavior started after updating to the 3.2.1 (firmware).
    Can anyone help?

    I would like to add:
    1. I have reinstalled itunes.
    2. This same windows laptop has synced and backed up this ipad before (since I have owned it) without fault or issue.

  • IPad camera connector kit error

Hey everyone. I've got an RF presentation remote connected to my camera connection kit via USB. The device works flawlessly but after the iPad sits idle for about a minute I get an error message IOUSBDevice: The connected device is not supported. Is there any way to prevent this error message from popping up? Like I said the device works great. I just don't want the message to pop up. Thanks for any help.

Probably not. It's not supported and is likely just a fluke that it works. That camera connection kit is just meant for cameras so anything else that works in there is a bonus.
Is your connector a 30 pin or lightning connector? If lightning, iOS7 brought with it software that looks for signed chips in devices plugged into the device. All lightning cables have chips in them and if a manufacturer has paid for permission to make a cable, their chip broadcasts a recognized signal. If the company hasn't gotten permission then thier chip isn't signed and that message is one that pops up. Devices usually still work, there is just that message. (this whole signed chip thing stems from people using knock off chargers that malfunction and in at least one case, killed a person)

  • Something went wrong with iPad photo/Video import and now iPhoto on Mac does not see content.

I just connected my iPad (4.3.2) to my mac (10.5). It launched the synch process for photos and videos and everything went fine. I then clicked on one of the newly imported photos in iPhoto and it choked and ultimately closed the app and gave me message along the lines of "iPhoto quit Unexpectedly." I rebooted the machine and when it came up went to look in iPhoto and saw that the new photos/video were not there. They are still on the iPad (Fortunately!) However when I reconnect the iPad to the Mac it does not see any content to import. In essence it seems to think it did the import and is not aware that it lost the content.
There's a couple possible solutions I'm interested in. One, are the photos/video somewhere on the Mac and just need to be dug up? I nosed around a bit but found nothing. Then other solution would be is there some way to force iPhoto to reimport what's on the iPad, ignoring that it feels it's already done this?
    Thanks,
    Wil

Where did these photos come from to begin with? Did you import them from the iPad into iPhoto on your Mac? Is that what you are saying here?

  • HT4101 Camera connector kit not working with ipad3. Not at all able to see any photo . Have tried both the USB connector directly with camera and thru card reader. Tried by copying photos to DCIM folder also.

Got a iPad camera connector kit. It is not working as expected. It is not able to read any photos. Both the USB connector and sd card reader arenot showing any photos on iPad. Tried copying all photos directly in DCIM folder. Still no result.
Any other setting needs to be changed?

    Hey, thanks for your updates.
The photos are 8 character long and extension is .jpg
The file names are 8 characters long with 3 as alphapet followed by an "_" and then 4 numbers.
Initially the photos were in a folder inside DCIM folder. I manually copied them to DCIM folder, still no result.
    Can you advice.

  • IPad 2wifi, and camera connector kit problem

My iPad camera connector kit is not importing all the photos onto my iPad, with some pics it's, placing an exclamation mark rather than a tick, why is this happening?

I would suspect there is something going on with the SD card the iPad is not liking. Try to transfer all the photos to a computer which may be better at reading the card. Once you have verified all the photos are safely copied use your camera to format the card. This will wipe it completely and set it up again which can fix any formatting issue the card may have. If you see this issue again I would not trust it and get a new card.

  • Ipad camera connnector kit

I have recently purchased a canon powershot sx150 and the ipad camera connector kit. When I load my sd card into the connector my ipad will act as if it transferring pictures, but the photos are never fully downloaded. I was able to download a few pictures but not all. Help please.

Try closing the Photos app completely and see if you can copy all the photos when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Photos app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Photos app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Ipad will not reccognize photos on SD card transfering using connector kit, why?

I am using a Nikon 3200 with 64gb SDHC media and unable to transfer my photos to my iPad using the Apple SD card connector kit. Can anyone help me reslove this problem?

If you are transferring photos from your PC to your iPad, you don't need to use an SD card to make the transfer.
A much easier way would be to make a folder on your PC, put the photos into that folder, then tell iTunes to Sync the photo app on the iPad with that folder.  This saves you the tedious step of getting the names of the photo files exactly right so that the iPad will see them on the SD card.  And you don't have to fumble around with the SD card.

  • Importing photos to my ipad via the camera connector kit  How do I do this

I cannot import photos to my ipad via the camera connector kit The photo app does not say import anywhere  How do I do this

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • D800 file compatibility:  Has anyone experienced problems with loading D800 files onto the iPad using the camer connector kit?  I have tried both RAW and JPEG using SDHC and CF cards and the iPad(3) doesnt recognise any of the files.

Has anyone experienced problems with downloading Nikon D800 files to the iPad3 using the camer connector kit?  I have tried .RAW and JPEG (of various sizes) on both SD and CF cards, but the iPad doesn't recognise the files.
I have seen various forums discussing Lightroom and PSE updates that are required to process .NEF files but I can't find anything on the iPad/camera connector issue.
I dont have any problem if I put the SD card straight into the SD slot in my iMac and Aperture will process the files fine, but I would really like to be able to download and view files on the move on the iPad.
    Any advice appreciated?
PS - saw something that suggested the iPad had a maximum file size of 16mb for photos, not sure if this is correct, but I have tried smaller JPEG files and they still aren't recognised.

If your camera supports both PTP and Mass Storage Device modes, it may be necessary to use both modes to import all media content.
If some files do not import as expected using one mode, try switching to the other mode and importing again.
Note: Some cameras may refer to PTP as Pictbridge or PTP/Pictbridge.

See this article: iPad: Using the iPad Camera Connection Kit
No, this canot be done, afaik. When your camera or card is connected, you will see the thumbnails in the camera pane, but not full size preview. So to browse your photos on the iPad you will need to import them to your camera roll. But you need not delete them from the camera or card after importing, so you might simply import selected photos to your camera roll from the camera grid and then delete them again from the camera roll after importing and browsing, without removing them from the card/camera.

  • Hoy can I restore photos deleted from memory card conected to my new iPad with the cámara kit?

I conected the memory card with my photos to my iPad with the cámara kit,  there where not enought Space to dounload and I deleted accidentaly the photos. how can I restore the photos?

If you deleted them from the card then you could do a search on the internet and you should find a number of third-party programs that might be able to recover them. If you had copied them to the iPad and they are still on there then you can copy them from the iPad to your computer : photos to PC.

I have just purchased the new iPad with the camera connection kit and want to be able to view my photos full screen and not import them.  Can this be done and how?  Please advise.  Thank you.

When connecting the Camera Connection Kit to a camera or SD card all you see are the thumbnails of the photos. I suggest you review those, select the photos you might want to see full screen, then import them to your iPad. After viewing them you can always delete them if you no longer want them on your iPad.
I also suggest Keeping the photos on your camera or SD card until you import the to your computer and back them up to at least one other location.
