Faulting module ImporterDirectShow.prm Premiere Elements 7

I'm getting the following error when burning to DVD in Premier Elements 7.  It's not a massive file - it's about 10 minutes of .AVI files imported from digital camera that also takes vidoes.
It gets to about 60% and then falls over.  Has anyone any thoughts?
I've taken the below from the event viewer application log.
Faulting application Adobe Premiere Elements.exe, version 7.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48cee0db, faulting module ImporterDirectShow.prm, version 7.0.0.0, time stamp 0x48cee7a5, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000016eb, process id 0x14b4, application start time 0x01ca893b5de18858.
I've done a google search on ImporterDirectShow.prm and also in the forums, but can't find any hits.  Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Dabbsy

Hi Steve,
I've just read your article, and as I have Windows Movie Maker installed, I thought I'd try that one.  Imported avi files ok, dropped onto the timeline, but when I try to
From the Main Menu select File/Save Movie File
A dialog will open - Select ‘My Computer’ and press the Next button.
I don't have that option. The only options I have are around saving the project, importing and publishing.  I have version 6.0, do I need a higher version?
Any other thoughts?
Thanks
Dabbsy

  • Adobe Premiere Elements 11 just doesn't start (Win7, 64bit, NEW image)

    Hi Everyone,
While Adobe Premiere Elements 10 is just working fine, Premiere Elements 11 won't start. I choose "Video Editor" from the Welcome screen, then select either open project or create new project. I then get to see pink/grey status bar, but nothing else happens. Elements just won't start. Note: The Organizer is working fine.
When I check the Win7 Event list, this is the error that I see:

I checked this community, where several other folks seem to have the same problem. Only few of them have found a solution, but none of them is working for me.
I did install the most recent video driver.
Does anyone know what to do based on the davacore.dll issue displayed above?
    Would apprecaite any hint!
    Thanks!

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running?
Let us start with the video card/graphics card on this. Assuming Windows, what does the Device Manager/Display Adapters show for
video card/graphics card? How many cards? And, is the card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
(We may come back to this later and ask for a roll back of the driver version to determine if that makes any difference/)
Does the problem exist with and without the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled?
Are you using a pen and tablet device or mouse?
Did you install the program to the default location on the Local Disk C? If not, then consider, with save to Local Disk C default according
    to the following sequence
uninstall of the program using the usual Control Panel way
then..free ccleaner run through to get rid of leftovers from incomplete installs/reinstalls
    CCleaner - Download
and then reinstall with antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
Please review and consider, and then we can decide what next based on your results.
    Thank you.

  • Premiere Elements 10 64 bit won't start

    My issue:
When I try to start Adobe Premiere Elements 10 64 bit the program will start to launch and then windows will announce "Adobe Premiere Elements 10 has stopped working"
    My System:

    8GB Ram
    64bit operating system

I have tried: (I'll try to remember everything)
    Uninstalling/Reinstalling
Restarting after every uninstall mentioned in the I have tried section
    Uninstalling antivirus
Stopping all programs and unneccessary services I could find
Updating video and sound card drivers to the latest version
Updated to latest version of Quicktime 7.71.80.42
Clean up hard drive and temp files
Uninstalled NVidea 3D Driver, PhysX System, nview and HD Audio Driver, leaving only the primary display driver
Checked event viewer looking for any logged issues.  It always fails on display.dll.  Details below

    Any ideas?

The error message seems to be pointing the finger at your display drivers. You say:

Are these the mobile drivers from the nvidia site or from HP? Whichever ones they were, try the other. It's also possible that your windows updates applied a graphics driver update - that's usually a bad thing. Always get the drivers from HP or nvidia.

  • Premiere Elements 9 project crashes frequently

I am using PE9 on only my second project.  It is PAL HDV 1080i 25fps with footage captured from a Canon HV30. I am running on Windows 7.
My project is currently 50 minutes long and has a large number of stills. I am finding it crashes frequently, especially when I try to add a new title above a still. I own and have read the Muvipix Guide to PS9 and PE9 and am aware about not making images too large.  In his book Steve states that for HD video slideshows the optimal photo size is 2200x1235 - mine are in fact 2048x1536.  Should I be making them smaller?  If I resize them to 1024x768  would it help?  I am at this stage going to be producing a DVD and will lose the high def anyway, but later down the track (if I get a Blu-Ray burner) I may want to produce a Blu-Ray disc - with the smaller image size wouldn't I lose some quality?
I am really frustrated with the constant crashing and the need to save my project after every small change.  I previously used Ulead Media Studio Pro which has been unsupported for nearly 5 years, and was a nightmare with crashing.  At first I was really happy with PE9 but now I'm beginning to think there is no video editor that runs smoothly.

Thanks to Neale and Bill for the quick replies.  I downloaded the latest audio driver and it seeme
d to take longer today before PE gave me a warning about low memory, and then continues without crash

I haven't looked at the videos re Case of the Unexplained but will do after Easter (going away).
I am thinking of splitting my project into 4 parts, rendering each part separately (in HD to produce an m2t file.  Then another project (let's call it FINAL) would import the 4 m2t files to the timeline.  This raises a couple of new questions:
    1.  Will I get any loss of quality if I output from FINAL in (a) m2t format for a HD web file, or (b) to a DVD
    2. If I edit the m2t files on the timeline in FINAL will that affect final output quality
    3. although I can output the work area only from my original project (45 minutes), I would prefer to have 4 short projects.  Is there any way of selecting all clips in the work area, or in a certain part of the timeline, without having to do it manually.  In other words how can I quickly split my full project into 4 11 minute projects?

By any chance are you working from a dual monitor setup?
Are you on a network? Are you using non default locations for program installation and/or program associated folders and files.
Have you looked at deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file? In Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 64 bit, the path is:
    Local Disc C
    Users
    Owner
    AppData
    Roaming
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. Check Folder Option mentioned below so that you can see whole path.
If you do have the latest version of the video card driver installed, consider deleting the BadDrivers.txt file. I am assuming that you have Windows 7 or 8 or 8.1 64 bit Windows and not XP. So, the path to the BadDrivers.txt file should be
    Local Disc C
    Program Data
    Adobe
    Premiere Elements
    11.0
and in the 11.0 Folder is the BadDrivers.txt file that you delete. Be sure to be working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the complete path.
    Looking forward to your results.
    Thanks.

  • Elements 11 - new install Faulting module

    Hi,
I have recently purchased 2 licenses for my school of Elements 11 but they won't start. Looking at the other thread relating to the event log below it talks about the location of the start menu being wrong and pointing to a MS fix but I have tried that and it still doesn't work.
I am using mapped drives for everyones home folders. When I startup Elements I get 2 event log as listed below.

Hi, I have successfully downloaded and used a few CS6 programs in my new Creative Cloud membership, i.e. Photoshop, Flash, Bridge.
However, I've downloaded and installed and updated, twice, Adobe Premiere CS6. I did uninstall it in between installs.
The program won't open. The error message I keep getting is:

Any suggestions on how to correct this? I don't want to go to a full computer reformat if there is a simpler solution since I just did one recently. Is there anything I can update or download as a patch, perhaps to fix this?
Thanks for any advice! I appreciate your time and looking into this.

Adobe Community: PPro CS6 Hanging on Startup - Crashes or stops working.
    Hi Jeff,
I actually did this yesterday, since I came across the same post. It didn't help. But thanks for suggesting it.
I've taken Premiere Pro CS6 off my computer and will try to reload it today. I am also having issues with the computer itself. If I go away from it and come back in say 10 minutes, everything is frozen. I need to contact HP about this and who knows, maybe Premiere will actually open if I get this other freezing problem taken care of.
I read to fix the HP freeze problem, to shut off the CoolSense feature, and I did, but it's still locking up. I have turned off any sleep, hibernate or other feature like that so it shouldn't be going into any kind of power saver mode. I adjusted my power settings.
I'm still under warranty, so will contact HP. Then I'll get back on the Premiere issue. When it rains it pours, eh? :>)

Thanks for the log info. We've seen instances of that "ntdll.dll" as the faulting module before, see if this Adobe document helps, even though it's for Acrobat:

  • Premiere Elements 10 Hangs at Loading Importerquicktim.prm then resets

I purchased the Premiere Elements 10, and uploaded it onto my 64 bit Windows 7 computer. It opens up the screen for "organizer, new project, open project" and when selecting New Project it opens a load screen, and then closes and goes back to the main screen after it gets to "loading importerquicktime.prm"
I just downloaded the newest quicktime, and still isn't working. I have AVG security software.
    Can anyone help?

DougBairdComedy I would recommend posting your inquiry to the Premiere Elements forum.  The users in that forum will be more familiar with the difficulties you have described.

  • Can Adobe Premiere Elements 12 burn a dual layer dvd disk?  If not, which of the components is at fault?

When I spoke to a person about upgrading from Premiere Elements 10 to 12, I specifically asked if the program could burn DUAL LAYER 8.5 dvds and I was told that it could.  That is the ONLY reason that I upgraded.  Since recording in full HD the files are larger.  I video plays for local theaters. I have been trying to burn a disk that is 7.5GB (2 hours 15 minutes).  I bought RIDATA -RDL 4x 8.5GB disks.  Then had a dual layer burner installed in my computer.  Premiere Element dialog "incompatible disk" The RITDATA says the problem is Adobe, the Geek Squad says the problem is Adobe.
SO ANSWER THIS QUESTION: Can Adobe Premiere Elements 12 burn a dual layer dvd disk?  If not, which of the components is at fault?  I am trying to burn 18 copies of this video (no copyright infringements) and don't tell me to to divide it into 3 disks.

    drowning
Can Adobe Premiere Elements 12 burn a dual layer dvd disk?
    Short answer: Yes.
What are you burning to DVD disc - DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc or AVCHD format on DVD?
Does your DVD CD burner support double layer single sided discs?
Premiere Elements is supposed to (been there and done that....)
    1. burn to Folder (8.5) for Publish+Share/Disc/DVD and Publish+Share/Disc/AVCHD
(you take the VIDEO_TS for the former and BDMV Folder in the latter to a program like ImgBurn
for the actual burn to the DVD double layer single sided disc)
    2. burn to disc 8.5 GB/240 minutes
Have you gone the burn to folder Folder (8.5 GB) route?
Have you tried another brand of disc in spite of by the disc manufacturer and the Geek Squad are telling you?
A double layer single sided disc is labelled 8.5 GB/240 minutes. In reality, that 8.5 GB is 7.95 GB. Where are you
coming up with 7.5 GB for your disc? Was that due to typing glitch?
Please review and consider. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
