Faults on BT's online usage meter page

Assuming that it is July 1st today, surely my online usage meter at bt.com should have reset to zero. It still shows 30GB used out of 40GB (Option 2) as if it were still June.
What's more, clicking the Help with BB Usage links merely replicates the same page.
Something is not right. Woe betide BT if I get charged for exceeding my limit.

Mine's been reset in the last few hours between about 0200 hrs and 0830 hrs on the 2 July, with a new date on the left - 1 July 23:59. The previous datestamp on the "incorrect" meter page was 30 June 23:59.
But here's a strange thing: this morning at about 01:30 my Home Hub page was registering a reboot 3 days 12 hrs ago, and an incredibly wild usage figure of 45GB download, 7 hrs later it reads 2 days 22 hrs with the same d/l record

  • Online Usage Meter?

Years ago I was able to get a report from the My Account section of the website to see my monthly usage. I can't find any clear links to such a tool anymore, and when the search results for this site come up with a link to the "Online Usage Tool", the link just takes me back to My Account. Am I missing something?

I do recall seeing that link way back when. I think it was used more for those who still used Dial-up from Verizon, and not DSL (FiOS wasn't well known at the time of that link being around), but as far as I know it was always a broken function. It was probably removed because Verizon doesn't employ Data limits on their Wireline services (thankfully) and Dial-up has pretty much passed us.

    Hi. Welcome to the forums.
The online usage meter is a day in arrears (as shown on the left hand side given the date/time of the uodate). The update always shows the usage for the month so far up to midnight the day before. On 1st of the month it will show the total usage for the previous month. From 7am or soon after on the 2nd, it will start again.
For non unlimted packages, it does seem a little strange, but the relevant date is the one on the left for which the usage figure applies.
The online usage meter is not real time as can bee seen by that date on the left.

  • Where has the usage meter gone?

    Hi all,
I usually check on how much of my broadband allowance I have used on a daily basis.  However when I have logged in today, the option to do so has vanished.
Would some kind soul please explain what has happened?
    Many thanks

    Hi.
    Welcome to the forums.
My shortcuts has two different links to the usage meter - options 14d & 14e. At least one of them should work.

  • BT usage meter disappeared since BT "Improved" MY ...

    Hi all,
The thread title pretty much says it all, really.   Yesterday, I had a working usage meter when I went to MY BT, but now it's disappeared, quite literally over night!
Anyone able to confirm that their usage meter is showing (or not)?
    Thanks in advance.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks for your replies, folks. Below is a screen grab, showing my MY BT page.
The weirdest thing is that it was working properly yesterday.
I have now spoken with BT Tech and they state that there's an issue with some customers being able to view their usage and others not being able to view it at all.
I have spoken to a manager at BT Tech, named Sayed, who has informed me that hopefully I should have my usage meter re-enabled by Monday/Tuesday.
EDIT: If I log in to my account, using https://www.bt.com/appsyouraccount/secure/cyahub.do (as opposed to www.bt.com and log in with my credentials there) then I am able to see the usage meter (see below).
EDIT: It appears that the problem has now been resolved, as I rang BT's helpdesk to advise them of the "alternate" method of logging in and the usage page is now working again.

  • Usage meter stuck?

    Hi all,
Any one else have stuck usage meter? Mine has not been updated since the 18th.  Makes it a little hard to track my usage without it.
Just wondering if it just me as I have not seen any posts about it being stuck yet.
    Thanks.

I tried both Firefox and Internet explorer, cleared the cache from both first too and it still seems stuck.
Possibly being updated or in a state of maintenance but would be nice for a note on the web page telling us so. BT are quick to say that the usage meter is the law when it comes to charging for over use but not so fast when there is an error to let us know its being worked on.

  • Proof usage meter is faulty

For many years I have had no problem with the reported amount of download/upload data reported by the usage meter.  It has seemed quite accurate and in line with my own system logs.
I have a cable modem directly connected to a Linux system.  There is no router in between.  The cable modem is running in bridged mode, which disables the wireless capabilities of the modem.
On 28-Jul-12, I disabled the network interface on that computer, as I'm making system changes and didn't really require network access on that particular computer during that time.  By disabled, I mean I shut down the network interface on the Linux system.  The DHCP client is not running and I have no IP address lease. Usage meter screenshot:
    http://s8.postimage.org/6e6elfzat/bpusage1.jpg
As expected, usage on the next day shows 0MB down, 0MB up.  However the  day after  (30-Jul-12) shows 168GB downloaded.  For 3 straight days, it has reported exactly 2516MB uploaded.  On 02-Aug-12, it reported exactly twice the previous days usage, 5031MB.  On each of those days 0MB was reported as download.  A typical TCP/IP connection would have at least some data sent in both directions.  This is hardly what I would describe as a normal usage pattern,
I called Bigpond on 03-Aug-12, but failed to convince anyone that there is a problem in their metering system.  They are trying to suggest someone may be using my wireless connection (I don't have wireless), or that a computer is running Napster/Kazza (I don't have a Windows computer), or a virus has infected my system. Early on 05-Aug-12, I physically switched off the cable modem.   Since that time, the usage meter has recorded another 168GB downloaded.   It is impossible to download anywhere near that amount considering that
     - a) I have been capped for the last 5 days - b) I have no IP address for the last 8 days - c) The cable modem is switched off This is proof that Bigpond's usage meter is faulty, but Bigpond continually refuses to address my concerns at all.  I get the standard scripted response and they refuse to have a systems/network person look at how this usage report is generated.  I don't want a new modem, or someone to check my line dammit, this is a problem with Bigpond's metering system, not a problem at my end. Bigpond refuses to tell me what IP addresses I have had this usage countered towards.  If they did check, they would find I have had no IP address.  Without an IP address, I couldn't have generated any traffic, or even had unsolicited traffic sent  to me (DDoS etc). Notice in the image that exactly the same amount of data has been recorded as being downloaded on 30-Jul-12 and 05-Aug-12.  What a coincidence.  Also, 03-Aug-12 usage meter previously showed data as loaded (2516MB) but mysteriously disappeared after a call to Bigpond.

It should be noted that 6.5 of the General Terms for Consumer Customers - Part of Telstra's "Our Customer Terms" says: We are required by various industry codes to ensure that our bills are accurate and verifiable and we are committed to complying with these requirements. Our records are sufficient proof that a charge is payable unless they are shown to be incorrect.
It should also be noted that Part 4.6 of Part A – General Terms for BigPond services, part of the Bigpond Service Section of Our Customer Terms says:  We may not be able to provide detailed information about your usage (or any of your group members' usage) of the service (for example, information about what sites were visited and when).
Unless you can conclusivley prove that there is no fault, Telstra is not obliged to investigate a fault. B.

  • BT Broadband usage meter

Has anyone else had unusual results from the BT usage meter?
My monthly usage average is under 30GB and that is mostly (75% or more) download. This month, for various reasons, my computer has been used a lot less than normal and today my total download for May is below 7GB. However, sometime in the last couple of weeks, my upload has shot up to over 30GB for no apparent reason. I supected some kind of nefarious activity even though I am well protected by Kaspersky and regular use of malware-seeking programs. To further add to the mystery, the meter on my Home Hub shows that I have transmitted only 3.6 GB in the last 9 days (presumably since it was last switched off a;though I do not recall doing so as I have been trying to keep it on permanently following a tip I saw on this forum about improving exchange to house speed).
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

Most versions of Home Hub reset the transmitted and received data values to 0 when they reach 4.3Gb withhout resetting the connection time.
If you contact BT Helpdesk they will be able to give you the data transmitted and received values for the last 31 days which will confirm whether the Home Hub values have been reset. ( If they say they cannot do it ask for a supervisor)
It is advisable to record the Data values from the Home Hub on at least a daily basis in order to check the online Broadband Usage meter.

  • BT Broadband Usage meter removed by BT

I noticed yesterday that the BB usaged meter was missing, it was there 2 days prior. I spoke with BT and a fault was registered but today received an e-mail saying
"PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BROADBAND USAGE METER FUNCTIONALITY IS NOT AVAILABLE IN BT AS PER DESIGN"
I thought this was a misunderstanding and spoke with BT this morning and they confirmed that it has been permenantly removed.  This was a great tool which enabled me and I am sure other customers to managed their usaged if they are set at either 10 or 40gb.
Has anyone else noticed the BB usaged meter missing which they agree should be returned ?

All I can suggest is you keep checking. If it doesn't come back, email the forum mods - [email protected] - with your name, account number and a link to this thread. They should get this sorted out for you. Give them 72 hours to reply as they are currently very busy.

  • Usage meter wrong?

I'm on Infinity package 1. My usage meter is interestingly enough telling me that I've gone over my usage limit for the period 30 April to 31 May, which is impossible. I did use quite a lot of data in April and last time I checked it said the end of that usage period was 30 April. Now 30 April has come and gone but the meter's not been reset.
So, why isn't my usage meter resetting as we're in a new usage cycle now? If a moderator could have a look, that'd be fantastic. Also, I've been looking at upgrading to the unlimited option, but whenever I go to the upgrade page it only lists Total Broadband deals. >_<

    Hi.
The usage meter is a day in arrears. You will notice a date/time on the left of the graphical display showing the last update. At the end of the month, i.e on 1st of the following month, the previous complete month usage is showing. The graphical display is a little misleading, but if you associate it with the date then it will become clearer.
The meter is reset at 00:00 on 1st, and you should have noticed the alteration sometime after about 7am this morning. The meter time update varies, so could be later in the day. Again look for the date on the left of the display.

  • Some of my text messages do not show up on Verizon online usage

My husband received a text last night from a friend.  Then 2 minutes later that same friend texted me.  It shows this friends text on my online usage, but no his.  It has since shown messages that we've sent to each other so I know it's updated.  Why does this happen?

We both have the same exact phone.  Droid Razr M.  Thanks though!

  • "hybrid" color found in iTunes's "Devices - iPod" usage meter

    Hi there,
I don't believe this is a quirk with iTunes, but it still eludes me nonetheless. I noticed it this morning for the first time when disconnecting my iPod.
Granted, we have that handy color-coded usage meter showing how much storage space we have left on the iPod (click on the iPod icon under the Devices tab in the sidebar if you are unsure what I'm referencing), along with the type of media occupying the used space and each having its own unique color: blue for music, yellow for photos, purple for video, orange for the mysterious "other", etc.
This morning, I noticed for the first time that I have a strange indigo-colored section, spliced somewhere between where the music (blue) and video (purple) are indicated.
The only thing I could possibly equate this to was space allocated for "Music Videos" (the obvious hybrid between Music and Video).
I couldn't come up with any effective search results on the board - I was curious if some Level 3+'s noticed this, and could shed some light on what indigo could indicate.
(FYI - I would love to have provided a screenshot, but I am at work at the moment)
    Just curious - thanks!
    Steve

    thats what we're talking about.
    Exactly.
Never did get a solid answer on this one, but judging from the fact that others out there see this indigo in the iPod spectrum, I'm going to say that it is from Music Videos.
I'm going to leave this one as unanswered until I'm daring enough (or bored enough, depending upon your point of view...) to delete the Music Videos from my iPod and see if the color changes.

  • When printing from an online PDF, the page prints in extra large scale. How do I fix this?

when printing from an online PDF, the page prints in extra large scale. How do I fix this?

This can happen when Firefox has misread the paper size from the information supplied by Windows. Clearing it can involve finding some obscure settings, but here goes:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''print''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) For each setting for the problem printer, right-click and Reset it. The fastest way is to right-click with the mouse and then press the r key on the keyboard with your other hand.
Note: In a couple other threads involving Brother printers, the preference '''printer_printer_name.print_paper_data''' was set to 256 and when the user edited it to 1 that fixed the paper size problem. If you see a 256 there, you can edit the value by doubling-clicking it or using right-click>Modify.

  • Broadband Usage Meter unavailable

The broadband usage meter on the BT website refuses to show my usage, on the basis that, as I have unlimited broadband, I don't need to know.
Is there any way I can find out my usage? Just because I'm on an unlimited contract does not mean I am not interested in my usage.

Follow the instructions in message 47 in this thread , you will only be given total usage with no analysis  https://community.bt.com/t5/Bills-Packages/Unable-to-see-broadband-usage-if-on-unlimited/m-p/1400811...

  • Query on vCloud Usage Meter Reporting

    Hello ,
Can vCloud Usage Meter provide report of  vCpu  , vRam  &  Storage Consumption  on monthly basics for each individual  vCloud Workload (Virtual Machine )  ?
I am looking for   Monthly report of  vCpu/ RAM & Storage  utilization by each  Individual vCloud  Director   Virtual Machine
Can vCloud usage meter fulfill  this requirement
    Thanks in Advance

vRealize Operations manager can do this if you want to monitor behaviour/normality, and report based off of this data.  this would connect to vCenter directly to get the data (VMs and templates view in vCenter mimics that of the Organization (vDC) / vApp Structure).
Chargeback can sample and monitor for the purposes of a creating a bill/invoice for a given VM.  This would connect to both vCloud and vCenter to build the reports.
vCloud Director which is available to VSPP/vCloud Air Network members has some basic monitoring included in the product, but requires API calls to gather the data and an additional Cassandra/Kairos DB to store the information.
