Faulty Canon 5d mark iii

Purchased a Canon 5d mark iii just under a year ago. The Camera developed a fault about a month ago. Would not communicate with the flash( photos over exposed ) and two vertical lines on the pictures. I bought it via the net. Sent it back to them. They had it nearly three weeks and sent it back to me with the same fault. It is now back with them. I have no faith in their "repair " department or the camera and am pushing for a replacement. Other "canon approved" service centres have not come across this fault and I doubt very much if these clowns can fix it. Any advice appreciated

Canon makes a Speedlite 430EX II -- is that the flash?  If so, the flash would be fully E-TTL II compatible (it wont have any problems understanding the communication.)  I was more wondering if this was a third party that claimed E-TTL compatibility, but didn't do a good job with the implementation. As for the verticle lines, it might help to see a sample image with them -- especially when you indicate that you get them even if you do not use the flash. Also, what image type are you saving... are these RAW, mRAW, sRAW, or JPEG (size & compression level)? Does changing the image mode change the lines? Do you format your memory cards?  If so, do you do this in camera or on the computer?  (Note:  Always format in-camera (never on the computer) and make sure you check the option box to do a "low level" format the first time you format it (you don't need to do "low level" every time, but you should do it at least once with each new card.)) Do you see the lines only on the rear LCD display of the camera, on your computer after import, or both?  (e.g. if the LCD has a couple of failed columns you might see it on the LCD -- even if the sensor is fine and the images are fine once they are imported onto the computer.  That would indicate a need to service/replace the LCD, but not the whole camera.) If the lines are only visible on the computer (but not on camera display) then what software are you using to import and view the images (Canon software, Adobe software, or something else?)

  • Does PSE11 show HDR exif data for a Canon 5D Mark III?

I have taken some pictures with the HDR feature on my Canon 5D Mark III. The HDR image that the camera creates does not show that it was created using the camera's HDR feature when viewed with PSE11. The Canon Software that came with my camera is ImageBrowserEX 1.4.0 and it shows these data: HDR Shooting Enable, Adjust dynamic range +-2, HDR Effect Natural, Auto Image Align Enable. Is there a way to show the HDR exif in PSE11? Thanks, Anne

Thanks -- I should have mentioned in my original question that I had already looked at File>Info. The usual stuff is there but nothing about the image being created from the HDR camera function, or at least that I could see. I went through all the tabs including Advanced and just don't see it. I will try to figure out how to ask Adobe Technical Support and how to request that they get that info included if it's not there. Anne

  • When will finder show a thumbnail or preview of the raw file images from the Canon 5d mark iii?

I am wondering if anyone has an update on when finder will show a thumbnail for the raw files from the Canon 5d mark III? I've done all the updates possible and nothing has changed, I can't do a quick preview either, it just shows the extension image, not the actual image taken. (The symbol for crw).

I had the same problem for a Canon EOS-1D X and finally got around it by viewing the images in Adobe Bridge. Worked beautifully!

  • Camera Raw 7 does not recognize Canon 5D Mark III RAW files

    Hello,
I have Adobe Creative Cloud installed and I use Adobe Photoshop CS6 with Camera Raw 7. Photoshop nur Bridge CS6 do not recognize the RAW files from the Canon 5D Mark III, though it says on the Adobe support site that the camera is supported since Camera Raw 6.7
When I try to open the .cr2-File I get the message "Photoshop cannot open the file".
    I use Win7 (64 Bit).
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
Its a known issue as the PS CS 6 was launched with ACR 7 however the support in Photoshop CS 6 would come with ACR 7.1 update which will be live soon.
You are completely right in saying that Canon 5D Mark III was supported in ACR 6.7 but it was only intended for >PS CS 5 & 5.1.
In the meanwhile if you want you can download the RC version of ACR 7.1 from labs.adobe.com.
    Thanks

What exactly happens when you try to open raw files from Canon 5D Mark III in PS CS6. Do you get any error message? An error screenshot would help.
Make sure your PS CS6 is up-to-date from Help > Updates.
    Restart the machine and retry.

  • Having issues opening raw files from Canon 5D Mark iii in Photoshop CS5

I cannot open RAW files from a Canon 5D Mark III in Photoshop CS5. I get an error saying "
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information."
Documentation seems to be no help.
    Any ideas?

You can download the updates manually and try to install them Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh

  • How to import Raw files from the Canon 5D Mark III into PSE12? [was: cr2]

I have Photoshop Elements 12 and I can't import Canon 5D Mark III CR2 files.

Not sure what you mean by view the photos?  Are they showing in the camera raw dialog when you choose a CR2 file from the menu in expert mode:
    File >> Open
What computer and operating system are you using?
Can you try shooting a couple of new CR2 files and then put them into a folder on your hard drive rather than the external drive. Can you import from that location using the Organizer menu:
File >> Get photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders

  • Upgraded Adobe LR 4.1, CS6 Beta & got the Canon 5D Mark III, WHEN is next dot release Camera Raw?

I Purchased the Upgraded Adobe LR 4.1, CS6 Beta & got the Canon 5D Mark III, Mac Pro server update to Lion, WHEN is next dot release Camera Raw? My workflow has trippled in time because of this issue. I'm so frustrated with having to convert images in a slowed up piece of crap canon software package and then wait another decade for the newest LR to load the images I could crap fire! Come on Adobe, where's the release? After a few grand you'd think we'd get a better response time. As for Canon, they are not consistant with community software sharing and can kiss my *!! because to leave Adobe hanging sux!
There should be new laws that penalize jerks that screw with workflow!
Time is money, let's go Adobe!

"so there are no Adobe staff here to see your rant."
Oh, they're here    and they see it...
    BTW this might help?

The 5D Mark II was first supported by Camera Raw 5.2 which is compatible with CS4+.
The 5D Mark III was first supported by Camera Raw 6.7 and 7.1 which is only compatible with CS5 and CS6.
So the CS4 will never be able to open Raw 5D Mark III files.
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

Purchase CS6 full version (CS4 is too old to qualify for an upgrade)

  • Photoshop Elements Plug-in for Canon 5D Mark III

I just got a new Canon 5D Mark III camera.  I can not open RAW files in Photoshop Elements 7.  I previously had a nikon D200 and was able to read RAW files after I downloaded plugin.  What plugin do I need to download for the Canon.  Can't seem to find one.

Update to PSE12 or use Canon DPP that came with your camera disk. Alternatively, download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.2
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Canon 5D Mark III -- Lightroom 4.1 - Edit in Adobe Photoshop not working

Hello, I appoligize if this has already been answered, I couldn't find a solution.  I have the new Canon 5D Mark III, and I updated to Lightroom 4.1 so I can import the 5D3 RAW image into LR.  But when I go to "Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS5" or "Merge to HDR Pro in PhotoShop", PS starts, but it doesn't load any files. I was assuming this is because the PS Camera Raw is out of date. So I downloaded the cameraraw6-7_r1_win_030612, but when try to install it, I get "Some updates failed to install. Update is not applicable".
    What am I missing here?

    Hi Tim,
Please refer to the link below which says:
Set the camera to Print/PTP. Images don't import when the camera is set to PC Connect.

  • How do I download pictures from a Canon 5D Mark III to my Mac mini (mid 2010)

Got a Canon 5D Mark III and I was wondering how I'm going to download the pictures to my Mac mini (mid 2010).  Would I need any special software and a card reader?  Saw a 3.0 USB card reader for sale but didn't think that would work on my Mac mini.  Please confirm.

If the USB 3 card reader states that it is backwards compatible with USB 2, it should work. Otherwise, purchase a USB 2 card reader.

  • Any idea when Lightroom 4 will have support for the new Canon 5D Mark III?

I have a new Canon 5D Mark III.  When can we expect support for this camera in Lightroom 4?

It's already in the DNG converter that's posted along with ACR 6.7 Beta.  That indicates probably the next version.
