Faulty iphone 5s display

I really need some help. I just got my brand new iphone 5s for Christmas and my screen is changing colors. Depending on what picture or app I may have up the colors tend to vary but remain long horizontal lines running from top to bottom. Please help. I live in the Caribbean but my phone was ordered online from apple and brought in for me from the United States. It was fine a couple days ago but now I have this problem. Is this something my local apple store can fix?

You need to bring the iPhone to an Apple Store in the United States. Apple Stores do not accept deliveries, so it actually needs to be carried in.

I recently replaced my cracked iphone 3GS display (with a full front panel assembly) and it worked perfectky for a while, but then the display went and all I can see is the backlight. There was probably some damage to the logic board that occurred when you cracked the screen. It has gotten much worse.

According to new reports, Apple are rolling out in-store repairs of iPhone 5 displays for $149 now. Of course, if there is more wrong with it than just the display (a distinct possibility with a dropped/damaged phone) then the replacement cost is $229.

IPhone 3G displaying emails in random order / not displaying some at all

My iPhone is displaying emails in random order - mainly oldest first at the moment. Since I can't set viewing preferences I would like to know how to get iPhone mail back to normal behaviour. For some reason it is not displaying emails from 5 December to 30 November as well.
I have deleted my .mac mail account and re-instated it to no avail.
I should add that my mac.com webmail is behaving similarly strangely. Instead of displaying emails by most recent first it decided to display them by oldest first.
Since I have not done anything differently and this behaviour came out of the blue I am pretty puzzled.
Mail.app on my Powerbook works fine btw.

First try Resetting it: Hold down the home and sleep button, ignore the red OFF slider, wait for the Apple logo then let go.
If that does not work, Restore your iPhone in iTunes from your backup.
If that still does not fix it, Restore your iPhone and a new phone (not from backup) and see how it works. If it is doing fine you have a app you are using that is probably causing your problem. Load them one and a time until the problems recur and you will have found the one that is a problem.

My iPhone 5 display has stopped working. The Lock button has not been working for quite some time now, so I can't try a reset. When I plug the phone up to the computer, it makes the sound which indicates that it has been hooked up, bu nothing is displayed. It is just a black screen.

Your question is a little difficult for me to understand. If you think the LCD Display connector on the Ribbon Cable #1 is damaged, the fix is to purchase a new LCD Display. The Ribbon itself is not truly a replaceable part that I know of.
When working on an iPhone 3GS the iPhone must be OFF, or you risk damaging the LCD Display or the Logic Board components that control the LCD Display.
I do not understand how you know “don’t have two pins”? I have never heard of this problem? If you really know that two pins are out, then also examine the #1 connector on the Logic Board to be certain is has not sustained damage too.

Music on Iphone not displaying correctly

After syncing and made several new playlist, music on iphone only displays as album list. No list of songs,no playlist, no categories. Just album list. But when I connect it on iTunes, it shows the list of all my songs AND all the playlist I created.

This does not appear to be iPhone-specific. It is an issue with ActiveSync in general, as that KB document explains. This happens with any phone using ActiveSync.
A very hacky workaround is to choose the setting to automatically Bcc yourself on all sent messages, then set up a rule in Entourage to move messages from yourself to the Sent folder.

Look for a 3rd party repair shop that can fix it in your area. It wouldn't be covered by warranty anyway.

Better support for iPhone Retina display apps

The iPad display is higher resolution than the iPhone 4. It would be nice if when I use an iPhone app on my iPad that is built for a retina display if it was not downscaled to a non-retina resolution. This would make the apps built for the retina display way more usable on the iPad.
Seems like an easy change. I'm actually surprised it was not included as part of iOS 4.2.1.

Again, that's not how it works. Apple didn't really have to do anything for the iPhone 4 because they're the same screen size. All they did was double every pixel for the iPhone 4 which is what you see when you use 2x mode on the iPad. If the iPhone had a 10" screen, even with the retina display it would look just as blocky as the iPad because of the screen size.
Did you not notice the resolution for iPhone 4 is exactly 2x that of the old iPhones? 640x960 vs 320x480. They didn't do anything special with the iPhone 4 to make the old apps look good, the screen size being the same is what made the difference.
this is all in reference to the iPhone 4 displaying apps not optimised for the retina display.
