Faulty MBP upon purchase  - Apple will not provide replacement or refund.

I've had a problem with my MBP since day one, namely that i get the gray screen of death whenver I have my wireless turned on. I logged my call with Apple within the first 2 weeks. It's been 2 months now since i bought the laptop, ( i only figured out it was the wireless card causing it to crash just recently as i generally use an ethernet cable). I sent it away to an apple repair agent who confirmed the motherboard needs replacement. I rang apple and told them i am not hppy to accept a faulty laptop and that i want a new one or my money refunded. They say all they can offer is the repair. Surely that can't be right? Anyone who has earned of similar stories or can offer so advice to me would be greatly approciated.

I had a faulty MacBook Pro and just returned it yesterday. My chip set was failing where the blue tooth was screwed up, the screen was screwed up, and the slot loading superdrive was messed up. The geniuses were very kind and helpful to me. They just swapped my old one out for a new one. Of course, it had been less then 14 days since the purchase (had it for 12-13). They said that wasn't good for the computer to start like that and took it back as a DOA. It may be worth your time to go to a genius.

    So I got my phone wet, and went to the apple store and paid for a replacement. The refurb had issues from day one with the power button, it stopped working in about a weeks time. I tried several time to get in but I have not been able to wait, with my schedule I dont have time to sit around for hours.  I finally got in today, after waiting long past my appointment time and now they say it is out of warranty, and they list my original purchase of the phone as when the warranty started, and apparently dont warranty the replacement phone at all. I can believe Apple will not warranty replacement phones at all, that is just poor business.

    A replacement iPhone from Apple has a 90 day coverage.  Apple Support or an Apple Store should be able to see the date of device replacement, even without a receipt.  Talk to them again.  Ask for a Manager or Senior Advisor.

    If the iPhone is using iOS 7 there is absolutely nothing you can do...the Activation Lock is an anti-theft feature that you cannot bypass.
    Apple will OT get involved...you have to find a way to get the Apple ID from the previous user.

    How in the world would I pay my outstanding balance of 40 dollars If apple will not let me? I had already voiced my concerns to apple via  email and the only means I could pay my outstanding balance as per their instruction is through itunes gift card. I am unable to use credit cards or debit cards as my apple id account is associated with too many cards (Yeah Right) so in effect I am compelled to  purchase an itunes gift card which I did from an online store. HOWEVER, I am unable to use the said gift card as it is only for the US itunes store as I found out in my attempt and my account is set on the Philippine itunes store which renders the gift card absolutely useless; furthermore I cannot switch countries due to the RESTRICTION. I went to support AGAIN and still got the intstruction that I need to use itunes gift cards to pay the balance. This time I went to a Power Mac center and told me that they do not sell itunes gift card for the itunes Philippine store and in fact they and all other branches are not engaged in selling itunes gift cards anymore. I went to other retail stores and told me itunes gift cards are readily available for purchase but it is for the US store only and NEVER for the Philippine store. In fact, they told me that itunes gift cards for the Philippine store DOES NOT EXIST. I went back to the Power Mac center, told them this and they did confirm with the fact that there is no such thing as an itunes gift card for the Itunes Philippine store and they even suggested that I need to make a new account. ***? I emailed apple about this and up to this moment no reply. Now, how am I supposed to pay my outstanding balance?     There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
    If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.

    Tapping the icloud arrow should get it to download to your bookshelf and it should then get 'downloaded' against it in Purchased instead of the arrow. See if any of the following fix it :
    - close the iBooks app via the device's taskbar and then re-open the app and re-try downloading it : iOS: Force an app to close.
    - soft-reset of the device : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.
    - log out and back into your account : select the Featured tab in the app, scroll to the bottom of it, tap on your id and log out, and then log back in

    If you are having difficulties with playing certain tracks purchased from the iTunes Store in iTunes, I would suggest deleting those songs and then downloading them again. See this article -

    iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?
