Faulty Nokia N8 contract sim card.

I received my nokia N8 last Friday and soon as i tried it out. SIM CARD REGISTRATION FAILED. the sim card doesn't work. My PAYG sim card has been working fine in the N8. Nokia said they would phone today at 9am and they didn't. I've sent an e-mail asking for my contract to be renewed with a new sim card but no response. The only amount to be deducted was for the case i ordered with the phone. Nokia have my bank details and looks like they'll be debiting £30 a month out of my account.

Sounds like a faulty card reader in your phone. You should have it looked at by your local Nokia Care Point.

WHERE AND HOW CAN I BUY AND ORDER

I think that the device is so new that you will definitely have a challenge finding one at the moment.
IF nokia care is around you, they MIGHT have one...but still, I think that IF they even have the shells, it will probably be a set which would include having to change the entire shell.
    its just too new.

  • Re Nokia Asha 300 sim card

    Hi
I am just wandering if the SIM card from a Nokia Asha 300 will fit in newer models ie Lumia, N series etc?
i am stuck on a contract until November next year with Virgin but they will not upgrade and i find the Asha unsuitable for my needs. need a full screen smartphone, and dont want to buy one off ebay unless I can guarantee the SIM will work.

The Asha 300 takes a standard sized sim cards but most modern phone now take a micro sim like most of the Lumia range.
If you want to switch to a Lumia, for example the Lumia 520 you will either need to get your sim cut down or swapped for a micro sim. Most phone shops have cutters or you can buy them yourself for around £5 online. Also many networks will supply micro sims for free without loss of number or credit even if you are mid contract.

  • Nokia 8800 "Insert SIM Card"

As soon as I started using my Nokia 8800 it continuosly came up with "Insert SIM card" even though the SIM is inserted. I tried three different SIM cards and received the same message with each although each SIM works fine with another model.
I took the phone to the nearest Nokia Repair Centre and they told me the phone was fine and it was the SIM that was faulty. I told them I had already tried three different SIM cards and the fault was present on all of them, they asked me to try with a new SIM, I eventually agreed, two hours later it was happening again.
I've heard that almost all Nokia 8800 users experience this fault now and again but with my phone it's happening continuosly.
Does anyone have any idea what causes this???

  • Nokia X1 - Dual sim card

Hi, I just purchased a Nokia X1. It does not have 2 sim slots. The second one is covered.  User manuel says I can insert 2 sim cards. Do all X1's come standard with 2 slots???

The Nokia X1-00 is a single sim device, the X1-01 is a dual sim device. It sounds like you have bought the single sim version.

  • Nokia 6630 "Insert SIM Card"

    I have a Nokia 6630.
It is always on offline mode and it never activates other profiles.
It only accepts one SIM card.
It never accepts any other SIM cards, literally!!
i have tried formatting it (holding call, *, 3) but still no results and still on offline mode.
i believe that it is set and locked to accept only this one sim card and not any other else.
the main problem is, it is not mine and it is my sister's.
and i strongly believe that she made it to a computer shop to have it locked so that she will be the only to use it and no one else.
i have also tried *#7370# but it asks for a lock code which i do not know.
how can i restore all original settings or format it so that it will accept all kinds of SIM cards?
    please help.

  • Help with Nokia E63 says SIM card not valid after ...

    Hi,
I moved to France from UK and just unlocked my Nokia E63 with a code given to me by my UK provider Virgin. Phone is definately unlocked. My French provider (Lefrenchmobile) have given me a new sim. When I put in the SIM and turn on my phone I have to enter the SIM PIN, and do this and get an accepted message. Then phone says SIM card not valid, and won't do anything. What can I do? If I put my virgin SIM back in then it works fine.

Have you double checked if your phone is compatible with the new operator's network? Just simply tell the model to their customer services, they should be able to determine the compatibility.

  • Nokia 9300 & 3 Sim Card

    Hi All,
I have just bought a Nokia 9300 and would like a bit of help plse! My friend said that my '3' sim card would work in it as it is unlocked to any network. It says sim card rejected. Is there any way around this for it to work?

If is an unlock device, should work. Check also if the SIM is an old version... Trade that SIM with a new one from the operator.
Just spoke to '3' who advised if they sent out a new sim this would not make any difference? Any other ideas?

  • I want to buy an unlocked iPhone 5c in USA, find a no contract SIM card for USA, and also be able to use it on trips to UK, possibly changing the sim card there. What model should I get and is this possible?

I cannot use T-Mobile, no reception in my house.

    Hey samfromshrewsbury,
Thanks for the question. The following purchase page may have the information you are looking for:
iPhone 5c - Buy iPhone 5c in white, pink, yellow, blue, or green - Apple Store (U.S.)
    http://store.apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone5c
If you buy a SIM-free iPhone, you will need to purchase a GSM-compatible nano-SIM card separately. In the United States, you can purchase such a SIM from AT&T or T-Mobile. When you travel internationally, you can use a nano-SIM card for iPhone 5c from a local GSM carrier. The unlocked iPhone 5c model is A1532 (GSM).
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Nokia 701 - FP2 - SIM Card

    Hello,
I know there is this kind of thread already, but still nobody gave a proper answer or any answer at all, so here's my question:
My phone was working fine, than I decided to update to FP2 and after I did it my phone started to say:
    Sim card registration failed.
When I try to manualy choose a network it says:
    No access.
I tried to check, maybe, my IMEI is blocked, but no, it's perfectly fine. Than I tried to change my SIM card and took new one. Same error. My current SIM card working fine in any other phone.
How can I fix this problem?

Well, if you want truth, I found it. I've contacted owner, but he was out of country already and I've send him all his contacts, picture and other stuff. But phone was working fine for about 4 months and only when I've updated firmware it stopped working. I've checked IMEI through different web-page and all said that it's fine. After contacting local repair shop, they told me that it's blacklisted.

  • I bought an Ipad with cell in Singpore and want to use it in uk with uk sim card, is any network okay?

I need to roam in uk - can I use any network sim? Bought Ipad in Singapore?

Don't see why not.  I have an iPad 2 which I bought in France, where I live.  I have a French (contract) sim card in my iPad, and every time I arrive in the UK, I switch to a British (pay as you go) sim card I got in London.
Mine comes from O2, but I have previously had one from Vodafone.  I only use it when there is no wifi available, as my particular offer is limited to 1gb of data a month.

  • Nokia N8 sim card problem please help!!

I have been the proud owner of a Nokia N8 for about 9 months now without any problems or issues jus some random bugs...since N8 is a troubled device as we all know. But anyways jus now it has come up with lots of issues...at first my phone started to restart as soon as the phone started up. Even before all the apps loaded up and i tried around 15 times to switch off and start and stuff. But to no avail...so i went on some forums and blogs and got some tips like resetting it by holding down the power button for 8 secs and everything but still the same problem. Now, I removed my sim card and put in a different one and VOILA it worked!!! No restart so I thought maybe the older sim was faulty. but as i put the old sim in another phone...it worked in that phone! I was dumbfounded as the sim was working on my n8 before toO! ......so i just ignored it and i used the other sim in my n8 but not for long after half an hour the phone was not starting up sim card or no sim card. so i flashed my phone to the official Symbian Anna and i tried booting up without a sim card and the phone works properly. but as soon as I put in the sim card and switch the profile to normal mode..the phone freezes for about 5-6 seconds and reboots only to find my phone in offline mode again and same problem. I have tried changing sim cards nd memory cards, reset, reflash, format the mass memory, and everything else possible but in vain. The problem still exists!! Can anyone please help me as Im very fond of the phone and I dont want to send it to the service center as they would come up with some lame excuses + i hav lost my warranty card!! Please help....and btw the phone works flawlessly without a sim card! And also, in offline mode when i switch on the bluetooth...the phone freezes and restarts! Evn the WLAN keeps on searching for network and doesnt find any even though there is! Any help would be appreciated... thank you!

Just want to say "I dont have my warranty card"
No official Nokia care point will say this as they can check the warranty satus online using your IMEI number- if they do not do this, either insist they do or report them to nokia care direct and lodge a complaint. (0845 045 55 55 from the UK)
Even if the warranty has expired online, this can be extended if you can provide a proof of purchase date. This can be a delivery reciept if you bought online, or your high street retailor will be able to provide you with a copy if you ask them- even your original service agreement should be enough. Remember you get a full 2 years warranty with all Nokia handsets.
Nokia Care are there to help, not to make things difficult for you. They go through untold amounts of training to ensure you get your handset back as soon as possible in a fully working order.
I feel bad you feel such reluctance to contact a care centre, Nokia have gone to massive efforts to provide consumers with this kind of readily available support.
If you are in the UK and your local care centre is not helping you I would suggest you call the one i use, they will give you all the advice you need 01242 539539 (i hope giving out this info is ok on the forums)
