Faulty touch screen

Ok, so i bought a new ipod touch on the weekend which was 5 days ago. It was working well until my ipod decided not to work and to turn off. I was searching to see if my ipod had some how gotten water damage as i use it when excercising and i noticed that the litmus paper in the headphone jack is half white, half pink. I know apple will not replace this because they will accuse me of water damaging it. Anyway, i left it for a day and plugged it into my computer and it decided to turn on. Then i try and go in to music, unlock it and turn it off. My question was will apple replace the screen because it is clearly faulty and it there anyway i can fix my ipod screen? I know that i did not get it in water but if it has been in water would i be able to blow dry it or open it up to dry the parts?
Also if i was to get a new screen which is the part that detects the touch?
And btw, i can sometimes unlock my ipod but on rare occasions.
PLEASE HELP ASAP :P
Thanks

Ipods are so incredibly delicate and finicky you hardly need any water in there to kill it, I just lost an Ipod touch due to moister condensation taking it from 70 degree weather to 30 degree weather back to 70 degree weather, the moister from condensation alone was enough to trip the water damage marker and short out the backlight. All I got from an Apple "Genius" was basically an "Oh, well" and a thanks for the $300 donation.
My advice would be to cut your losses and either forget about Apple's "superior" products that have twice as much functionality and less than half the life span of their competitors. If you can't live without an Ipod touch, wrap thing up air tight and live in a temperate climate. If you ask me though, what good is an MP3 player that's warranty is voided as soon as you as much as sweat on it?

  • Faulty touch screen for my Droid Incredible 2

I have a Droid Incredible 2, but I am having a tough time being positive about it.  The lower edge of my touch screen has become non-responsive and/or finicky at random times.  While on the desktop, I often can't get the "Phone" button to work.  It is like the bottom edge of the touch screen shuts off.  That is quite irritating, but it is not as irritating as it is after I actually get in to my phone.  If I call someone and get an answering machine, I can't hang up.  The "End Call" button doesn't work.  This becomes bearable if I call someone and the person answers.  It is bearable because the phone will let me out of the loop when he or she hangs up.  However, not being able to hang up on an answering machine is quite irritating, especially if it is one that allows for an endless length message.  I've found that powering off is the only way out of that predicament.
The touch screen has been a problem while in other programs, too.  It is a pain when playing a game and not being able to do something because the touch screen gives out.  In those situations, forcing the screen to black and re-dragging down to get it often allows me to keep going, but I don't think I should have to deal with that.
What am I to do?  There is no recalibration for my touch screen.  Is getting a replacement phone an option?  Heck, I am not sure if I am even under warranty.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks.
    -Brian

  • Photosmart B110a touch screen is faulty

I've just bought this printer and after switching on and trying to select the country, the touch screen buttons needed to be pressed really hard to register a press. Sometimes they will not work at all. My thumbs ar killing me now. I've now managed to set up everything including wireless but the only button working with the slightest touch is the 'back' icon. What should I do? Shall I return it to the shop where I bought it?

  • CC524A LaserJet 700 color MFP M775 No Touch Screen

    Hi Everyone,
I have an HP M775 that must only just be out of warranty, the problem I have is about a week ago the display just went dead, I am only able to print to this device all other functions are unavailable due to non-operational touch screen.
This issue has happened once before but was resolved after a power cycle, this time nothing helps.
I am reluctant to admit that the display is faulty I feel that due to its current behaviour that it seems to be in some sort of standalone limp mode.
The current operational characteristics are instant power off if button is pushed, almost instant boot up if power is turned on (able to print to device within a minute)
The device is still accessible over LAN and I can access the web based page via IP Address.
Any suggestions on how to maybe reset this device manually keeping in mind there is no screen available what so ever.
    Regards,

  • Touch screen ghost clicks

    Hello,
I have a Touchsmart notebook that seems to have  a mind of it own. Occasionally, once in 2 weeks almost, the touch screen picks a spot ( the same spot ) and keeps selecting it every 5-10 seconds.
When this happen you cannot navigate or even shutdown the computer since the cursor keeps going back to that spot on the screen.
When I contacted HP support they asked me to calibrate the screen, which stopped it for few mins and then it came back. A restart following that bought be another 2 weeks of trouble free working.
Now it is a standard fix, when the ghost clicks start, I calibrate the screen (hard to do with clicking between ghost clicks), then quickly save everything before the problem starts again and restart.
Is this a faulty screen, do I have to send it in? I hate sending in my computer, for one, it leaves you computerless for 10 days and then you have to remove all your personal files and passwords and reload it again.
What is worse, is that the problem is so random that its hard to reproduce the symptoms or check if it has been fixed.
Any help would be greeeeeeeeeeatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
PS: Was running Windows 8 and now 8.1. Problems then and now.

    Hi anoopkmer,
Sorry to hear about the problem with the ghost clicks. What is your product number? This link will show you how to find that.

  • Lenovo B50-30 AIO touch screen stop working

I bought my Lenovo B50-30 AIO touch screen last year and approximately after 3- 4 months of use the touch screen capability has stopped working.. Contacted customer service but they are unable to help and they told us thay they will send someone to fix it but no call to schedule this visit has ever been received at all.. Can anyone help?

    hi wileecoyote,
    Welcome to the Forums.
    Can you try the following:
1.. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the device manager, click View > Show Hidden Devices and under Human Interface Devices section, uninstall the HID-compliant device touch screen (this is the driver that controls the touchscreen).
        - Sample image
When finished, reboot the system and open system properties to determine if the OS is detecting the touch capability.
       - Link to picture (Touchscreen not detected, proceed to Step 2)
       - Link to picture (Touchscreen is detected)
    2. Restart the machine and tap F2 to boot into the System Recovery options. On the menu, try to touch an item but don't proceed in doing the system recovery -- this is to check if the digitizer (the hardware part that enables touchscreen functionality) is working.
        - If the Touchscreen is working, boot back into Windows and backup important files then prooceed with the System Recovery.
        - If the Touchscreen is still not working even in the System Recovery menu then it's likely that the digitizer is faulty. Since you already called tech. support, I would recommend doing a follow-up on the repair ticket (your case number#) or send me a private message regarding the machine serial number and case # for me to check.

  • N97 mini Hang-up, sudden reboots, touch screen non...

Malfunctioning started 5-6 months after purchase.
At first few times no any possibility to answer a call - sliding on screen when keys locked or touching answer screen button, or green button after display/key unlock did not worked.
Only possibility to talk with caller - call back immediately (it works) an excuse for that problem.
Lately phone started to reboot after ending calls or after (or while) using as internet connection modem. Or sometimes rebooted by itself just standing by on table...
Sometimes keyboard does not work, working only screen.
Then become next problem - or touch-screen does not respond or respond awkward or totally different as should.
Then touch-screen malfunction together with keyboard not functioning.
After a month spent at sellers repair first 3 days - everything worked as should. I started to believe - problems gone, but that happiness was only for three days..
Question - is this model is most buggy faulty or so? Nearly 400 EUR for top series N class disaster is quite a big money... How nokia thinks to solve this problem? As I understood I'm not the one and only with that big list of problems for 400 EUR...
    Nokia 1611, 2210, 3110, 5110, 6210, 6310, 6310i (up to these models totally satisfied)
Then don't remember model, then E50 (mostly happy), then N97 mini - phone with briliant keyboard, but poor touchscreen, then business phone E07, phone that can not make a photo of contract, invoice or business card. poor design of usb port and 5 months at service did it - my nowadays phone is Apple. Company gave me Asha 300, so frustrating, that I use my old E50 instead...

Yesterday evening I gave back my faulty item to repair center. They said that, previously service center most likely couldn't find the cause of problem and just renewed the firmware.
Strangely - Yesterday morning talk with Nokia Customer care center figured out, that there were NO ANY registered repair or update action made by authorized service (and must be  registered). May be nothing was done or service center is not so "official".
Thank Good, yesterday the phone showed up the malfunction and guy said - most likely it is resistive touch sensor problem that should be replaced, because it after some time wears out or is tended to bend or so - so it becomes malfunctioning and should be replaced...
Strange - if the phone costs ~400 EUR the touch-screen sensor should be more wear-tear, bend or any problem resistant to average phone use conditions. To face this problem every 3 to 9 months - doesn't seams to be fair offer for that price...
Today I was promised to have a call from service - within what time phone will be back to me at working order... Still waiting.

  • IPod Touch 16GB 1st Generation - touch screen area stopped working

Hello there, the last 2 days I'm experiencing a problem with my 16GB 1st Generation iPod Touch. One cm under the top of the touch screen and for about 10mm height, the screen is not functioning. I noticed this when I was on the AppStore and tried to buy an app. Exactly at the "Buy" button and on full width the multitouch screen doesn't work at all (touch/scroll/zoom etc.). I use OS 3.0 and I've installed it from my PC with the latest iTunes. I use the latest OS since it's release day and only yesterday the problem appeared.
The iPod is protected with silicon case since day 1, also has a screen protector and it's never dropped, scratched or anything that could cause this problem. I believe the problem/bug/dysfunction it's software related, even tho, I've restored the iPod erasing all it's data to the factory settings with the last OS, the problem remains.
Do you suggest me to downgrade back in version 2.0 and see what happens? Do I have to to downgrade to version 1.0? Please advise cause here in Greece the service doesn't exist as in the rest European countries and as in the rest of the world who has official Applestores.
I use both Mac and PC with my iPod Touch, so you can suggest solutions for both platforms. (Leopard/Vista)
I'm waiting for a response as soon as possible, thanks in advance and please advise me as an experienced user
The iPod Touch is bought from US and brought here in Greece on January 2008. It's the iPod with the January Update in case you're wondering.
    Thanks for your time,
    Vangelis Makridakis.

Seems that the problem isn't software related.
I've downgraded to 2.2.1 from 3.0 and nothing happen.
I can't buy apps from AppStore, I can't join a WiFi network and much more...
Apple made *faulty digitizers* (touch screens) cause as I've searched on the internet, many others have the same problem. Since it's out of warranty, Apple is covered... BUT customers should know that even if they don't drop their device or if they protect them, no matter what, one day they won't be able to touch some random areas of their screens.
As a customer _I demand answer_ and also a replacement program for faulty digitizers since will be confirmed that the customer never dropped or scratched the faulty device.
Also, since in Greece (where I live) we don't have Apple official representation as the rest of the European countries, I probably will have to pay A LOT to Rainbow S.A for a digitizer replacement and also to wait about a MONTH to get my device back.
Thank you Apple for making perfect products with the chance becoming lemons instead of apples.
    Vangelis.

  • 1/4 of the touch screen wont work

I was checking my email today and all sudden 1/4 of the touch screen in non responsive to anything. I dont know what to do. any sugestions???

I suspect you have a faulty screen. After resetting you iPhone, if it still does not work, try a full restore. I am thinking hardware problem and your warranty will cover it... so as others suggested, take it to your nearest Apple Store and have the phone replaced. (I've had problem with my screen from time to time not recognizing my touch but it fixed itself after a simple reset).

  • New Droid 3 touch screen not reposnding

I just got my new Droid 3 today (I had previously wanted an iphone but a relative got a droid 3 and it was buy one get one free so how could I turn down a free new phone? ....anyway, I was just messing with it tonight and now it's completely frozen.  Nothing happens when I touch the screen.  It started acting funny, not letting me text and the next thing I knew, it completely froze.  Does anyone know a good way to reset the device or any other way I can fix this myself?
    Thanks!

    How does on fix this?
    Good afternoon!
I'm sure I can help determine the root cause of this concern. Clearly, the screen is an important part of this phone. What I recommend doing to narrow down the potential issues, is booting the phone in safe mode. If the issue stops, then it is likely related to an application. In that case, I suggest finding the faulty application or performing a hard reset. This will not only removing harmful applications, but also removes other potential software issues.
    Please advise of your results.

  • Lenovo Flex 2-14 Touch screen problem

Hi, I have a Lenovo Flex 2-14, and I turn on the notebook but I found that the touch screen is not working, I restart the notebook but it doesn`t works. Is there any key or swith to turn on/off the touch screen? or what can I do to solve this problem?

    Hi Hoov,
I've ruled out Windows being the problem as the same yellow tint appears in the corners when booting the laptop (the black lenovo loading screen displays the same yellow tint)
I am beginning to think that maybe I've just been given two faulty Laptops. I would imagine that if it was a fault with all models of my type then there would be some information out there.
I might take it back to the store again tomorrow and try 1 more, I'll also ask if they have any advice.
I'll update the post tomorrow but in the meantime I am open to any suggestions as I don't really want to opt for another Laptop as this one is perfect (apart from the annoying Yellow in corners )

  • Touch screen response

Hello everyone. I have had my BBPB since about June and have used it almost everyday. Just a couple weeks ago the touch screen started acting up and not responding like it should. Its slow and takes several touches to register my entry. Sometimes the entry is not the button I had even selected. I have done the security wipe and reloaded the base software. I waited for the next software update and installed it in hopes the problem would go away but it didn't work... Im running 1.0.7.2942
    Can somebody help??

only thing i have heard is maybe strong magnetic fields near by, if this is not the case then maybe you have faulty hardware
