Faulty usb port connection hp ENVY M6-1188ca

One of my USB ports has been faulty from the beginning, I am now 8 months out of warranty, and can't find anyone in Victoria BC who can repair it. Does anyone know where I can get a bad USB port repaired on my HP ENVY that I bought in Nov 2012?

I've got a problem with a faulty USB port. I've been connecting my 3rd gen iPod (2003, touch wheel, dock connector) to my windows using computer for year - but today it doesn't work. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and was about to syn/upload my iTunes library to my iPod but then computer says I have a faulty USB connection. There is nothing wrong with the USB ports. The iPod shows a picture of the dock connector, and then shuts down. I've tired resetting the iPod but the same thing happens. Does anyone have any suggestions?

the new updater is screwing up 3rd and 4th generation ipods. you can buy a new ipod at your local electronics store.

Which USB port connects to which USB controller ?

On 875P Neo, I have 6 USB Ports on the mainboard slot and these 2 additional USB2 Ports, which I can access from the front.
The connection from the additional USB2 controller to these 2 USB2 ports are clear.
But there are 4 USB controller for these 6 USB ports on the mainboard slot. - I did not find which port connects to which controller.
That's important for me, because one of these controllers shared an IRQ with my TV card on PCI slot 4 and if the USB-ISDN modem is connected to a port of this USB controller, I get sometimes this nice error message "can't locate TV tuner" an so on...
How can I figure out which of these 6 USB port connects to which of these 4 USB controller ???

I guess the only way is to manually connect your device and see which USB xHCI it maps to that conflicts with your TV card IRQ.
With the 876P (and 865PE) you have 8 USB 2.0 ports which gets mapped into 4 Universal Host Controllers (2 USB1.x ports per UHCI) and a single Enhanced Host Controller (all 8 USB2.0 ports). Find out where each of your host controllers gets mapped into when you connect a USB1.x device.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a way to control how each PCI card gets an IRQ on the 875P Neo (but the 865PE Neo2 does seem to have such an option)

My ipad is locked up with the screen showing the usb port connecting to itunes. I had not synched by ipad to my computer in a long time so yesterday it was downloading software upgrades for 5 hours. then the screen was locked up.

Faulty USB Port (Broken but not broken..)

For sometime now, my rear USB stopped working - I THOUGHT it had malfunctioned, but I randomly tried something today and it kind of fixes it.
For the USB port to work, I have to push down on the connected device (push the USB head downwards) for it to work. Maybe something got moved around and the power isn't getting through properly.
What can I do for now (besides taking it to an Apple Genius Bar, which I won't be able to do for another couple of months)?

My frequent USB port connection has new warning?

Just recently, I've had a new warning pop up when I connect my iPod video to my old iMac G4 on one of the 3 USB ports located on the back. The warning says something about how I've connected the iPod to a low-speed USB port (1.1) and may have performance problems.
I never had this kind of message before. I haven't used the iPod video all that much and actually prefer to connect it to my MacBook Pro but there are times when a recharge on my iMac G4 is more convenient than the laptop. Plus, I purchaed the iTunes Video Games with the G4 and anytime I restore the iPod Video I have to sync it with the G4 in order to transfer the games.
Does anyone have a reason for this message? Related to an update? Do USB ports go bad over time or wear down? Is there something else wrong with my iMac or a symptom in the ports area?

i talked with a sales rep at local apple store. he thinks it may be all the new ipod updates for the latest ipods and phone and apple created a new warning message based on quality of old USB ports on old iMacs.

the system im building resides inside a CODEGEN Briza A Series ATX tower (Part Number E6097), my question has to do with how im i supposed to connect the frontal usb ports of the case to my MSI K8N NEO4 Platinum board (MS-7125). the board features 3 yellow colored 9 pin (pin 9 is a key (no pin)) standard USB 2.0 connectors, while my case comes with two frontal USB ports with 2 sets of connectors arranged as follows:
+1 3-pin connector with red, white, green wires labeled "USB 1"
*1 1-pin connector with black wire labeled "GND"
+1 3-pin connector with red, white, green wires labeled "USB 2"
*1 1-pin connector with black wire labeled "GND"
*the black wire is part of the connector itself however is detached from the 3-pin and has its own 1-pin connector, which is "ground"
+the 3-pin features a small triangle at the base of the connector with the red wire.
total pin count for both ports would thereby be 6, as some of you already know this board features a 9 pin arrrangement in its yellow usb connectors.

i quote myself on this, and having gone in detail on the boards manual i simply came to the conclusion that those front usb ports shall remain disconnected for the time being

Loose USB Port Connection

I bought a brand new Playbook 32GB today and took it out of the box to charge it. I used the supplied charger to plug it into the wall. I found that the charger had a very loose fit laterally and can wiggle several degrees in each direction. The charging cable does not fit snugly into the port. This is obviously concerning due to the fact that it's brand new and will only get looser over time. The reason for the loose fit is not a loosely secured port inside the unit. Upon closer inspection it appears that the micro usb port is not crimped to the trapezoidal shape of the micro usb head. The small metal frame is more of a full oval. I would guess this is a sign of a shoddy production mistake. Can anyone else comment on if their port is crimped to shape or experienced the same thing. A link to a photo is below. Please advise. I had the same thing happen to me mine was not the Playbook but the AC adapter. I called RIM and they sent me a new AC adapter it works now. If you have a newer Blackberry smartphone you can use that charger or charge it using the usb cable.

Satellite Pro C650-139 - Faulty USB ports

Bought a C650-139 about 3 weeks ago and after 5 days the USB ports started to work intermittantly and then stopped altogether.
Did a system restore and even tried booting with a linux live cd but the machine would not recognise anything plugged into either port.
Contacted the dealer and they got me a shiny new replacement but now it has gone the same way :(
I only have 2 Kingston USB memory sticks and a USB mouse that I've used in these laptops. The devices work fine in other laptops and PCs.
Windows Device manager shows the USB root hubs installed and if I uninstall them then the OS redetects and reinstalls them.
Anyone else had this problem with this model?

I don't have this notebook model but it must be really annoying when something like this happen.
I agree with Jeka. Bring notebook back to your local dealer and exchange it for other notebook model.
Series C must be new one and I think you should take new A series, for instance A660. I saw it last week and I must say it is really nice notebook.

Having problems connecting things to both usb ports at same time

I'm trying to connect both Serato Scratch and an audio interface into each of the usb ports on my powerbook, but i'm having problems. Serato will register when plugged into either of the usb ports, but as soon as i plug my audio interface into the other socket, Serato instantly loses the connection. As soon as unplug plug the interface, Serato instantly registers again.
Is this likely to be a mac problem? Should i be able to have both usb ports connected to and both things registering?
This is driving me crazy. Any help is greatly appreciated!

It's known that Powerbooks don't put out alot of electrical juice onto the USB ports. If both devices are relying on power from the USB ports, that may be the issue. If so, solution is to get a powered USB hub, or if the devices will support their own power supply, get one.

bought my pavillion (dv5 1135 ) 2 years back ,and had no problems since then until yesterday when I found that my external mouse is not working , and started getting message errors of malfunctioning USB port even after removing the mouse cable .
The mouse is woking perfectly on my desktop . I tried other USB devices but failed to work . In device manager , I un-installed all the USB controllers to force the system to re-install them but did`nt chage anything .. I almost confirming that I got a faulty USB port which I don`t know if it will cost me a lot to fix it , so I want to know that and the other cheaper solutions that you can suggest .(by the way I have only one USB port still struggling to survive ) .

Have you tried clean instalation of OS? or running factory installed setting using HP recovery disks? if the problem persist than 100% hardware problem.
If you are pretty sure it was a hardware problem, the right side of USB port can be replaced, see picture below.
However the left side is attached to the motherboard.
Download Maintenance and Service Guide and learn how to dissemble the notebook.
I repaired my friend notebook with the same issue as yours, by re-seat the connection of the USB board, no new hardware is required.
Sometimes it tends to lose due to heat or vibrations.
