FaunOS: New Release Available

We have released a new version of FaunOS at:

This release includes many enhancements over the first release. You can find a list of new features and current packages on the web site. We have also improved our download area with more bandwidth.

This is by design. Currently xorg.conf gets overlayed so that is automatically generated at each boot by Xorg -configure. But I can see in a case like yours this is not a good thing. However there is a work around which I might include permenantly in the next release depending on how widespread your issue is.
Before rebooting FaunOS, copy your working /etc/X11/xorg.conf to /etc/X11/myxorg.conf
Add the following line to your /etc/rc.local :
cp /etc/X11/myxorg.cong /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Reboot and save session. On the next bootup you should get your xorg.conf.

I have a similar problem with the OATS v9.20 installation. I did manage to install it on our main load generator (running Windows 2003 Server) but when it came to installing OpenScript on my laptop (XP SP3) the install 'hangs' at 78%.
I did raise a support call with Oracle about this (there was a bug report generated) but the case is still open.
I've been waiting to hear when the next version was due (in the hope that this might have been resolved) but by the sounds of it there could still be an issue on WinXP with v9.21?
For reference I originally logged this with the following in the description:
The installation looks like it is failing because of a double backslash in a path ending "OATS920\\bin\copyOUI.bat". We then get an error in javaw.exe which when OK'ed then stops the installation at the stage "creating 'Uninstall Oracle Application Testing Suite' in folder 'Oracle Application Testing Suite' ".

Daily New Releases No Longer Available to Original iPad Owners

It seems that daily new releases are no longer available to original iPad owners (last new releases I received were 10/20). I know they're out there because I just downloaded two BRAND NEW apps today! I found them by searching for the creators of the apps that I usually buy. If I hadn't searched I would not have known they existed. Are the original iPad users being screwed once again by Apple?!!!!!

Another option is to reset the Home screen. If you have moved a lot of your icons around, you may not want to do this because it puts everything back to the way it originally was (your purchased apps would line up in the order in which they were purchased, I'm guessing....)
However, if you don't have an issue with the icons moving back to the original positions then Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout

The plugin shows on the list as enabled and functioning, yet the tool does not show on the toolbar. It would appear that I need to restore the previous version of Firefox and wait until a newer release of the plugin is available before upgrading the browser.

I copied the iTunes file from the external drive and it's in both places. I thought all I would need is the iTunes program (which I downloaded to new computer) and my iTunes library file. There must be something else that's missing. My iTunes library looks the same on the new computer as it does when I open it on the external drive. If I click on an iTunes library song from my new computer, it will only play if I have the external drive plugged in.
My back-up drive is a mess. I have multiple copies of music, video, photo, and document files and I don't know how that happened. ={ Obviously, I don't know how to back up stuff properly and there are back-up files extending over a 6- to 8-year period. I think all I did was just drag and drop the main folders from the back-up drive to the same main folders on the C: drive. Also (and I'm kind of fuzzy on this) Windows used to automatically save music files in a folder within my document files (which makes no sense to me). As my Jewish friends would say, "Oy Vey!"

Is it Mandatory to run SU25 steps after Upgrading to new release

Hello All,
I have few questions regaring Security Upgrade.
We recently upgraded to a new release. So, when I try to modify a role in Dev a pop up came "which states that need to run steps 2 a to 2 c in SU25" but when clicked on continue the pop up never came after that in any role.
My question: Is it really required to run SU25 steps after any upgrade? Is it going to affect any users if dont run the steps and continue?

You are missing the purpose of the tool - namely Step 2B.
2B is the key to reducing your effort and building good roles in the first place when you enter 2C. If you get that part right, then step 2C is popcorn and watching the tele while your program runs (not a(n) (e)CATT script...). You can do this in standard if you are disciplined!
A special aspect is to choose the "Authorization Object" view which is available in SU24 but not in SU25. If you restrict the number of roles to few single roles (or series of them without derivation) which are intact then you can survive a release upgrade without toasting your roles or the SU24 data updates.
SU25 is very usefull for such role builds!
If you want all the lights to turn green then use SUPC and transport them through. God help anyone who used roles as menu's and deleted standard or maintained authorizations...
SAP security is a specialized task which touches all applications you use...

Map Viewer new release?

can it be known when will a new release of Map Viwer be available? The current developer preview's map definition tool is prettz instable. It would be also nice to know in what direction is this product heading.

The new MapViewer as a component of iAS will be shipped when iAS 904 is shipped, which is probably in a few months (just a guess).
The map definition tool will be completely rewritten, and thus will take a bit longer and come likely after the 904 release.
MapViewer will be enhanced in its reporting and visualization functions. And that is its likely direction in the future.

Without Soruce of a form needs to compile into new release !!!

i am standing in very difficult situation that one of our client doesnt have the .fmb files (source file), now they planned to upgrade their database into latest 11gR2, as well as their forms also. their forms is just in 4.5 version.
Can any one tell me is there any possible way to compile this form into new release without having their source code (.fmb). ??

Hi,
choose the technology for which there is knowledge and resources (also customer wise), so this can be forms/apex/php/.Net/Java and any other available. As you don't have the sources anymore, maybe you still have the old documentation from which you can create a new version. If not, then a new design is also necessary.
Maybe some looking with a text editor in the FMX give you some SQL or PLSQL parts which you can use, but still you need to know the functionality wanted.

Is the new release cycle really making Firefox faster?

The new release cycle of Firefox may help in increasing the overall speed and stability of Firefox and shorten the time, we have to wait for new features. However, at the moment this causes a lack in add-on support. If we gain speed and new features, but therefore abandon old features, that made us faster not by performance, but through a different style of using Firefox, then what have we won?
For example, with FF 5.0 - 7.0 the "Site Launcher" is not working anymore. Maybe Firefox is now loading pages faster, but I am at least twice as slow in navigating, because "Site Launcher" was - together with "All-in-one Gestures" - my most used Add-On.

New Release Movies

I have been trying to figure out what is going on with On Demand New Release Movies. In December there were "Coming Soon" movies--Blue Jasmine, Gravity, Rush, The Butler, Captain Phillips. Some had 'available for viewing' dates and some did not. The Butler was dated 12/31, Rush was dated 1/14, Blue Jasmine 1/14, etc. Then as the dates got closer, the dates on half of the movies disappeared and they were not available and some dates changed. None of them have been available for renting. Most of them only had Pre-Buy, with no dates as to when these films that you buy would even be available to view if you bought them or be available to rent. Frankly it was one big mess and I could not understand why the new release dates are so screwed up.
Is there a reason Verizon cannot simply put the real date these movies will be available to be rented as long as they are promoting them? Do they omit the actual rental dates so you will buy a movie? What is the point of NOT letting viewers know when the movie can be rented On Demand? I find this exceptionally frustrating as surely Verizon knows at least one month in advance when the movies will be available to rent! Is this just more corporate disorganization? What department do you even call to find out when the real date is available to rent? I can't even believe people pre-buy streaming movies without a date for when you actually can view them. They ought to be putting the real date for buying and the real date for renting. Are the On Demand movies posted by the same people who do the guide (as there are frequently mistakes on that as well)?

No, there are no parental controls on iPad. Would it work if I did a hard sync with the USB connector rather than relying on Wi-Fi? I've seen the posts about certain studios not allowing additional downloads but I've got movies from the same studio with one showing up and another one not showing up.

What happened to the new releases alphabetical list? You used to get a list sorted by date when you click ALL in new releases. Now, they only list "featured" new releases with pictures of the artwork. Is there still a way to see the alphabetical list by release date.

This release is mainly a maintenance release, with lots of bug fixes. But there are a few new and interesting features included also. One, is the inclusion of the Sun Java System Application Server 9.1. It is not included in the main Java ES installer, but can be downloaded separately. All of the Java ES 5 Update 1 component products that require a web container have been certified to work with Sun Java System Application 9.1.The Sun Java System Application Server 9.1 is based on the GlassFish open source application server. You will be able to download it in mid-September. I will update the links when it is available.
Another interesting feature is the inclusion of Service Tags. Service Tags are digital identifiers that can be embedded in software or firmware and that holds a small amount of product information. The Sun Connection Registration Manager discovers service tags and registers the products and allows you to view and manage your registered products online. To install Sun Java Stutio 5 update 1 under SuSE

in /etc named suse-release with the follwoing

Now you will be able to install Sun One Stutio 5
