Faux 12.0.3 "Creative Suite" Mac/Photoshop update?

Yesterday (Monday), the Adobe new downloads page (http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/new.jsp) updated to list a "Macintosh" download for "Creative Suite 5" / "Creative Suites Updates" that links to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4974
which seems to be a bit screwed up:
#1 It lists two downloads for the same file.
#2 That file is AdobePhotoshop12-mul-AdobeUpdate.zip, which is a .ZIP file not a .DMG file, and it contains a .EXE updater for Windows, not for Mac.
#3 The description text above the downloads is for Windows
#4 The filename and size are the same as at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4949 which is the download page for the 12.0.3 Windows update.
Is this just an error? What's the right reporting path to get it fixed in a timely fashion? Thanks!

Yeah, someone mixed up the Windows and Macintosh updates.  Probably as part of the updates for CS5.5.
But that never should have made it out to the public site.  Somehow their release process is slipping.

  • I have a MAC that runs Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  The new OSX Mavericks is free for download and I was thinking about upgrading.  Will my Creative Suite 4 (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign) work with OSX Mavericks?

Was hoping to keep my Creative Suite 4 just a little longer.  Will it be possible with Mavericks?

    Uh uh, I see!
Also it seems I can use my time machine backup:

together with Migration Assistant. This would work. Thanks
Now I need to figure out the Windows part. I need a full backup of Windows as well, with all the programs. In particular I need to be sure I can maintain the graphic card drivers.
You don't want to know how long took for me to find out how the **** I could update my graphic card drivers in Windows on my Macbook pro. Unfortunately there was a lot of misleading propaganda from Apple about bootcamp, saying that the new intel processor would have worked fine with Windows. Sad that everything was a lie. When installing Windows with bootcamp the graphic card program was unable to find and install the graphic card drivers update . Took me 2 weeks reading through thousands of angry posts of disappointed costumers to find out how to do that. I do not want to reapeat this dreadful experience.
After one year and a half with my Macbook pro I have a system I am TERRIFIED to touch. It is very very fragile, and any little change can destroy everything. It barely works. that's why I am so scared to re-install the OS

  • Creative suite thinks photoshop is already installed

I bought creative suite design standard, the student edition for mac. Before that I had a trial of photoshop which I deleted after the trial period expired. But now when I try install my creative suite, it says that photoshop is already installed and so it won't install it.
I though it might help to download the trial, but the internet I have won't allow me to download any big files.
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I have this same problem with Flash! I had a trial version that I thought I had totally deleted. I can't find anything else to delete or uninstall, but my new Creative Suite 3 Web Premium won't let me install or reinstall Flash.

  • My email providers are telling me to upgrade my browser, I have an imac G5 with OS X 10.4.11 my OS is Tiger, I've upgraded as far as it will allow me. I have the Creative Suite Programs (photoshop etc) If I upgrade OS will it affect these programs?

I have an old imac G5 my operating system is Tiger, I never upraded it because I was told it would affect my photoshop, indesign etc programs, my email providers are telling me to upgrade my browser,my email is not working right and can't get it to work proper. I have upgraded as far as my mac will allow. I was wondering if I changed my OS to Lion or Mountain Lion or even an older one like Lepord would it affect my CS2 programs?

You will need to upgrade Adobe Photoshop Creative Suite 2 for Lion or ML. CS3 version 10 will work.
Mac OS X Leopard discs are expensive. Snow Leopard requires an Intel CPU.

  • Trying to activate a creative suite (mac)... please help

Have had a rough day with Adobe... have been "helped" by the chat people at least 10 times today with no resolution.  Some component of my computer (Mac) got fried, and the Apple geniuses advised me to retrieve the data and applications by getting an external enclosure and hooking the hard drive up to another Mac.  I did that, but the adobe applications said that I needed to put in a new serial number.  After several attempts at using the chat feature, one of the Adobe employees said that I needed to uninstall and try again (and they would do something on their end to make it work). I have this latest transcript (see below), BUT IT STILL DOES NOT WORK after re-installing.  Please help...
info: You are now chatting with Sparks.
Sparks: Hello! Welcome to Adobe Customer Service.
    Sparks: Hi Jay.
    Jay Hilscher: Hi Sparks!
info: Your chat transcript will be sent to {email] at the end of your chat.
Sparks: I have received your query.
Sparks: I will check and help you with this.
Sparks: May I please have your email address registered with Adobe?
Jay Hilscher: I'll let you know that I have been disconnected 5 times... this issue is not on my end.
Sparks: And also the serial number of the product?
    Jay Hilscher: [email protected]
Jay Hilscher: [removed by moderator - never share publicly]
Sparks: Thank you for the serial number.
    Jay Hilscher: you're welcome!
Sparks: Thank you for your patience.
Sparks: May I please know if you have a installed the software again?
    Jay Hilscher: Yes I have
Jay Hilscher: But I can't activate it with this serial number
Sparks: If the deactivate button is grayed-out the product is already activated.
Jay Hilscher: Yes... I need to deactivate it.
Sparks: In that case, please go ahead an uninstall the product.
Jay Hilscher: I need it deactivated on the old hard drive so that I can activate it on the computer that I's like to use it on.
Jay Hilscher: I've read on the forum that I don't want to uninstall without first deactivating...
    Sparks: No, problem.
Jay Hilscher: What is a problem?
Sparks: Please go ahead and uninstall the product, and install it on the new computer.
Sparks: I will make certain changes for you to activate it on a new computer.
    Jay Hilscher: Ok... thanks...
    Sparks: You are welcome.
Sparks: Is there anything else I can help you with?
Jay Hilscher: Not right now, I guess... I hope this works!
Sparks: You may contact us back if you face an issues.
Sparks: Is there anything else I can help you with?
    Sparks: Are we still connected?

Ned, thanks for the reply.  However, that doesn't seem to solve (or actually get me any closer to solving) the problem.  I uninstalled and reinstalled the creative suite, but I still get the window that says that I have 30 days to activate the software.  Then, the serial number that should activate it (per Sparks above) does not.  This is followed by another window that says, "We are unable to activate Adobe Design Suite Standard CS3.  Click the Phone Activation button to learn how to speak with one of our Customer Care representatives."  After clicking the phone activation button, however, and going through that whole process, no opportunity to speak with a Customer Care representative occurs.  Before being hung up on by the automated menu voice, I am directed to use the chat feature to "speak" with a representative.  This is how I've come to communicate with a number of representatives today (Sunita K / Case # 0213839182; Souvik S / Case #0213841272;  Naacom N / Case #0213841941;  Sparks / Case # Unknown;  and others) - none of whom has been able to follow through on assisting.

  • Adobe Creative Suite, namely, Photoshop CS refuses to activate

I have an old issue of Adobe photoshop CS. I've been trying for the last 30 days since installing it on my new computer to activate it. Neither Phone nor internet activation "is available at this time." The trouble shoot doesn't adequately explain why this is happening. CS1 is perfectly fine for all my needs and I don't want to have to purchase another copy if not necessary. Please advise or even better activate it.

See the following (it applies to CS1 as well):

  • Adobe Creative Suite Question [Photoshop File Compatibility]

I have recently received a ten year old macbook with the OS snow leopard, according to the apple store associate using CS3 or CS4 would run better on this particular macbook. would I be able to open a file created in CS3 or CS4 on a computer that runs CS6? Would I be able to open a file made in CS6 in the CS3 or CS4?

That all depends on what you mean by "a file"
Industry standard DATA files such as JPG pictures are independent of program version
Proprietary PROJECT files such as a Premiere Pro video project file are very much dependent on program version
Also, program specific data files such as an InDesign file are dependent on program version, since newer programs often have features not supported in older versions
So... just what do you mean by a file?

  • Help updating Photoshop 5.1 into Creative Suite Photoshop CS6

    Hi,
I recently purchased the Adobe Creative Suite (CS6.0). About a year and a half ago I purchased Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 and I have been using it heavily and customizing it. I have installed the Creative Suite and Photoshop CS6 shows up as a completely different application than Photoshop CS5.1. How do I transfer all my custom brushes, swatches and other settings to Adobe CS6? Is there a way to just update the 5.1 into 6.0 while retaining all my settings?
    Thanks,
    JNPenny

  • Can I download Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium on a new Mac if I've had it installed on my old one since December 2011? I have the product key and serial number.

I bought a new Macbook Pro 13 inch in December 2011 and I bought the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Design Premium shortly after and installed it on the computer.  The other day my friend spilled his drink on my computer and it is now going to cost me $800 to get it fixed so I am considering getting a new one instead of getting mine fixed I'm not sure if the memory is still ok or not either.  It didn't get that wet and Apple told me it is more than likely ok but there is no guarantee that they are going to keep the memory when they fix it.  So I was wondering if I get a new one if I can install the Suite on the new one I still have the product key and serial number for the Suite.  Or if I decide to get mine fixed and the memory is swept, then can I reinstall it on mine after it is fixed?  If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated!!! Thank You
