Favicon Plugin

I'm looking for a Favicon Plugin to Photoshop CC.
In previous versions of Photoshop (CS6 was my last version) I have used this plugin (http://www.telegraphics.com.au/sw/) and it has worked just fine, but Photoshop CC crashes when using this plugin.
Can any one recommend any other plugin how works with CC?

If it is a script, then they have to be modified for each new version of Photoshop. That's why we keep old versions, plus both the 32 and 64 bit with new versions of Photoshop, in case plugins etc. are not compatible. So you need to contact the plugin vendor and ask them.

I tried the much mentioned and acclaimed favicon plugin for Photoshop
from www.telegraphics.com.au. It did not work.
I am on Vista (Win 64-bits) so I tried the Vista work around. Still no
joy.

Colour background for quicktime plugin and favicons

Hi, a trivial query. I have seen some sites where the background colour for the quicktime plugin player is black not white. On my proto site http://www.goldenumber.co.uk/beermatts_trumpet_pages/ if you click on the midi files the player has a white background which I would prefer to be black. Do I need to edit the midi file itself? Any suggestions gratefully received.
Secondly, when I access the midi files or the pdfs I lose my favicon image in the address bar. Is there a way around this?

I still see a white background when I click on a MIDI file link.
Unless you place the MIDI file in a web page (such as with EMBED SRC), you cannot control how the MIDI player plugin will display in the browser. Look at the zianet.com page linked above for an example. The directory web page is black (with text and graphics) and plays 'Hold on to the Night' in the background because it is embedded in the HTML.
If you want to control the appearance, you need to create a new HTML page for each MIDI file.
Example:
Create a new file called '
The_Fields_of_Athenry.html' and use the following example HTML...

How do I turn off that silly flash warning where the favicon is suppoed to be in the address bar

I recently noticed that the powers that be at Mozilla are now dumbing down firefox to the level of AOL. They added a new 'protect me from myself' feature where there is a little icon in the address bar next to where the favicon is supposed to be that warns about a page using flash. REALLY? You think users are THAT stupid? How do I turn that off. It is so silly and stupid.
BTW, PLEASE stop going down that path. The main reason FF has been superior is that it didn't try to warn me about every little thing on line and protect me from mys elf at every nook and cranny. Crap if you are going to continue this route why not make us type every single character three time and they confirm it with a yes/no dialog so we will be safe???

Are there any messages about this plugin in Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins or on the about:plugins page?
This icon at least let you see that plugins are present. If you set the default action to always activate then the plugin shouldn't be blocked.

New favicon will not display in Firefox, but does display in Safari

I am working on a new website and uploaded the favicon.ico into the root folder (Go Daddy). The favicon appears when I use Safari, not does not appear in Firefox... I have a mac OSX version 10.5 I have cleared the history and cache too. Any thoughts?

I have this problem too. I've just loaded my favicon.ico into my root folder and it shows next to the site url in latest Safari 5.0.5, but not in Firefox 3.6.17 - neither next to the site url nor on the page name tab.
Firefox also does not show the favicon in the Tools > Page Info > Media tab, although this does list just three of the many jpgs and pngs within its folders. I've just added the favicon.ico to the folder where it does see a jpg and png, but no joy, still not displayed. See attached png.
How do I overcome this problem? Is there a plugin that resolves this issue? It would be nice to have some color in the page name tabs. Many sites, such as this one, do have their favicons displayed by Firefox...

If that only happens on a specific page or domain then make sure that you do not block images on that domain.

*A way to see which images are blocked is to click the favicon (Site Identification icon) on the left side of the location bar.
*A click on the "More Information" button will open the Security tab of the "Page Info" window (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
*Go to the Media tab of that "Tools > Page Info" window.
*Select the first image link and scroll down though the list with the Down arrow key.
*If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
*You can see the permissions for the domain in the current tab in Tools > Page Info > Permissions
*You can see all image exceptions in Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions

Flash Player Icon Shows Instead Of Favicon

Hello all,
I have my site with only google ads enabled which are generally image text ads. But for some reasons I keep getting the flash player icon whenever I visit it. With other sites i got the site favicon as usual. This is happening with Firefox only. Can any one share me the solution for this. I'm really concerned about this.Any help will be appreciated.

That's the indication in Firefox that one or more plugins are loaded on the page. You will see it on every site that uses Flash.
The favicon in Firefox is on the TAB, not on the address bar. It's a security feature to stop people using a padlock symbol as a favicon.

Safari stops loading many pages: ../favicon.ico not found

Recently Safari doesn't complete the loading of many pages.
The status bar reads for example ... completed 34 of 35 items.
In some cases the page appears.
When I click a sub-topic on the page (i.e. in a forum) the link fails to load.
If I then click the stop/reload the selected link shows up, but fails to show the pictures (i.e. also incomplete)
In the activity window of Safari
http://www.......at/favicon.ico is listed as not found
Could there be a connection??
With Firefox these pages open without a problem.
My MacBookPro loads them without a problem using Safari over the same network.
I would appreciate your help.

I have tried most of the recommended tricks - trashing:
com.apple.Safari.plist and
com.apple.quicktime.plugin.preferences.plist
I have reinstalled Safari through the MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.8PPC.
I have tried both the Universal and the PPC version.
At the moment I am using the Universal 2.0.4 version.
There is no difference. The problems remain the same.
Any other suggestion?

Quickest & safest fix for FF slowness - yet still leave Favicons, bookmarks & history arranged AS IS?

Since FF has been having trouble retrieving my windows & tabs, slowing me, I tried finding the solution, so I browsed FF Help, and read about RESET.
The Mozilla Reset-Firefox article stated:
"when [reset] is done, a window will list the info that was imported. Click Finish and FF will open. That's it, you're done!"
But this fails to inform me whether RESET leaves Favicons etc. etc. arranged AS IS without fooling around with their order.
So is my best bet to:
(1) Reset?
(2) Disable extensions/themes?
(3) Update to latest version (why? i'm happy with this version, if not for becoming slow)
(4) I only seem to have a coupon printer plugin. Does that hog memory?

Causes of "plugin entry point could not be found"

Hi,
I had a report from a user of
my most popular plugin (i.e., mature and extremely well tested), that it failed to work for him on Photoshop CS3 Extended + Vista Business 32-bit.
The error message when he used the plugin was "Could not save as ... because the plugin entry point could not be found."
Is there anything new about CS3 Ext that might cause this? (The plugin is known to be compatible with Vista.)
I have not had other reports like this, so I am currently concluding it's an oddity of his installation.

I used the .ico plugin 4 days ago without any problem.
Then, suddenly tonight it would not work.
The post above by "Jas_" correctly identifies the problem as a "file permission issue".
I am running Windows 7 64 bit with Photoshop Elements 7.0 and this version of the .ico format plugin.
For some reason the "permissions" for the group "Users" on the ICOFormat.8bi file (located at: \Adobe\Photoshop Elements 7.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats\ICOFormat.8bi) were "read and execute", but not "Full control". once I changed the settings back and restarted the computer, I was able to "save as .ico" again with no problem.
(mostly) STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS for Windows 7:
1. Locate your "ICOFormat.8bi" file
Navigate to Drive Letter (usually C:), Program Files, Adobe, Adobe Elements (what ever version you are using), Plug-Ins, File Formats, and voila... ICOFormat.8bi should be in this folder. (if it is not, then the plugin is not installed, or not installed correctly (see this link to install))
2. Right Click the ICOFormat.8bi File and select Properties.
3. Select the Security Tab
4. Click the "Edit" button beneath the "Group or user names:" box.
5. Click on each group and determine whether the "full control" check box is checked in the "allow" column.
In my case, the "users" group was allowed to "read and execute", but did not have "full control"
6. If each group does not have "full control", then Click the "allow" box next to "full control" (as long as you're not trying to prohibit a user from using this plugin, that is... >:-)
7. Apply All Changes.
8. Restart your computer.
9. Open you would-be favicon in Photoshop Elements
10 File, Save as -- .ico... Poof! Done! Fixed! Yaay!

ICO Format Plugin from Telegraphics not available now - alternatives?

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum.
I went to telegraphics.com.au/sw/ to download the plugin for photoshop so I can create a favicon - - but the page has been taken down due to them boycotting Israel over the Gaza incident.
Is there any alternative?

IrfanView http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm is a free stand alone program that can read (but not write) PSD files and can output ICO files. It's an excellent file viewer/converter and is absolutely free. I've been using it for years.

How do you make a favicon with adobe cc?

I cant figure out how to make a favicon. Anyone with any advise?

PNG files as favicons are only a recent innovation - IE11 supports them, but IE10 and earlier does not.
The default format should be a Windows ICO file (16x16 pixels). Natively Photoshop CC cannot save to ICO files, but there are plugins available as well as websites which will convert your PNG file to ICO for free. See http://forums.adobe.com/message/5474101

Is it related to WebLogic Plugin? we have weblogic 7.0 with some SP

As I have been following this topic for quite some time. Some of these errors are
related to how the plugin is used and configured within apache, or IPlanet.
The original posting says nothing about which serversoftware the reverse proxy
is running, because nsapi is a shared codebase used both for apache and iPlanet.
I get the same error when running through Apache, at various version levels on
Solaris.
Many of the reverse proxy configurations that I have seen, uses a common Apache
or IPlanet instance relaying traffic through the proxy-plugin to multiple WebLogic
clusters. Many of them also stems from the 5.1 days.
In 5.1, there was only support for one WebLogicCluster configuration per VirtualHost.
Therefore the only option was to use mod_proxy proxying from the terminating host,
typically running on port 80 and then doing ProxyPass /app1 http://localhost:8000/app1,
ProxyPass /app2 http://localhost:8001 and so one, one for each cluster.
After 6.1 came along, this was no longer necessary. WebLogicCluster and SetHandler
weblogic-handler directive could be issued within the <Location /app1> directive,
one for each app within the same VirtualHost.
Many of the configurations for the "old" paradigm is still out there though, bacause
it still kind of works using it with 6.1, if you just upgrade the mod_ssl.so for
the 6.1 version, hence no httpd.conf changes.
Having had two support-cases with BEA, whithout any outcome and solution to the
READ_TIMEOUT errors, causing "Apache bridge failures" (wich as actually sent back
as a http 200 status!!), i wanted to dig deeper into the problem.
I tested multiple configurations using the SnoopServlet.jsp provided with the
6.1 code, and added a delay parameter that does a:
Thread.sleep(Integer.parseInt(request.getParameter("delay"))*1000); in the JSP,
just to simulate real world request/response scenarios and delays for dynamic
sites, thereby telling apachebench to go to:
http://myhost/myapp/SnoopServlet?delay=10
Doing simple tests with ApacheBench, a perl based utility for stress-testing of
web-sites. I was quickly able to run scenarios that yilelded an error-ratio of
about 20%, all of them caused by a READ_TIMEOUT.
When I removed the intermediate hop between the target VirtualHost and the local
host containning the WebLogicCluster directive, and did the configuration in a
<Location> directive in the :80 Virtual host instad, the error-rate dropped to
almost 0.
I have tried this with 6.1, 7.0 and 8.1 versions of the plugin, all connecting
to 6.1 back-ends.
