Favorites list erases names

My favorites list suddenly lists only phone numbers without names. The names still show up in my contacts list. How do I get it back to listing contacts by names?

FYI, i was experiencing the same issue; today i created a new contact from a recently called number, and after saving all the changes/information my 'recent' and 'favorite' lists are now showing names again.
I had a similar issue right after upgrading to 2.0 where i could no longer get the phone to display my visual voicemail; i called myself and left a message (which is something was never able to do as i would get connected to my voicemail instead- so this might also be an at&t issue). after leaving myself a message my visual voicemail suddenly reappeared (along with some messages erased previously).

How do I remove an old file from the Finder Favorites list?

Good Afternoon.
I have a shiney new MBPro with 10.7.1.
On my old machine running Snow Leopard, I had two .xls files I used often that I had dragged to the left side into the favorites. The truth is, I hadn't used them in months, but hadn't bothered to remove them. Then about ten days ago, the Bad Thing happened, and I had to replace my laptop rather suddenly. The nice folks at the Apple store transferred all the data and I was off an running in just a few hours.
Now, I thought to myself, I should remove those two files since I don't use them any more. But how?
If I click on them nothing happens. If I right-click on them, nothing happens. I can't drag them out because they don't drag and they aren't listed on the list of favorites that can be toggled on and off in preferences.
I checked. The files did still exist but deleting them didn't remove their names from the favorites list.
Any suggestions as to how to remove these two .xls files from the Finder's Favorites list?

Just hold down the CMD key and drag them off. How simple is that?? They didn't klnow this at the Genius bar when I asked this morning. I am amazed.

Once after finding the required SAP Note for my issue I am trying to add that SAP Note to my favorites list.

It is a one-time error or do this occurs each time ?
Did you choose a really long name or something (the "String offset" description tends to prove it has to deal with some string length) ?

Phone number appearing in Favorites list but does not exist in Contacts

I have an iPhone 4S, running iOS 5.1.1 (9B206).
About two weeks ago (not really sure when I noticed) a phone number appeared at the bottom of my Favorites list. The number is for a person that I deleted from Contacts some months ago. The number is not in the Contact list anywhere, the contact does not exist. I've tried recreating the contact (and Favorites then shows the name) and then deleting the contact, and its still there in the Favorites list.
There is a facetime icon next to the number. If I turn off Facetime, the number disappears.
Any ideas welcome.

Go under your phone icon, then under the favorites tab. Look in the top left hand corner of the screen and there should be an edit button. Tap it, and then tap the red delete/minus icon to delete it from your favorites list.

Difficulty in using a variable to pass a list of names between 2 tables

I am trying to pass a list of names from one table as a variable to another table and trying to find the Highest level they exist at in the hierarchy. I am having some troubles with the variable and need some guidence and also if this should be a procedure or not.
this is what i have now :

i am used to saving sites to my favorites list in IE9, now I have switched to FF how do I do the same.

How do I remove items from the "favorites" list on the sidebar?

When I open up a new folder there is a favorite list on the side. Somehow, random documents and folders appear there. When I went to the settings I couldn't find how to remove them and when I went to the preferences for finders I saw how to add different icons, but not how to remove these docs/folders from showing up there. Any suggestions?

I figured it out. I read a few of the things on this site and they weren't totally helpful, but messed around and from their suggestions I figured it out!

A list will appear with one of the options being "Remove from Sidebar"

I have to build up indexes on directories. The list of names comes from Microsoft Excel and is saved as a text file. I need to assign index markers to the list (sometimes up to 2000 names) so I can build up an index after the layout is done.

You can only create new folders in one of the three root folders.
* The Bookmarks Toolbar folder stores the bookmarks that you see on the (View > Toolbars >) Bookmarks Toolbar.
* The Bookmarks Menu folder stores bookmarks that you see in the Bookmarks menu and create via "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" or "Bookmark This Link" in the right click context menu.

Help with using mergesort to sort a list of names alphabetically?

Hi, I'm trying to sort a list of names alphabetically, case-insensitive by using the mergesort technique.
I wrote this code and when I trace it through on paper with an example array of names, it should work, but when I run it with an actual txt file, it's not correctly alphabetical.
I'd appreciate it if someone could take a look at my code and give me some ideas on what my problem might be.

Renaming files using a list of names in a txt or csv file

I'm trying to use AppleScript (although I'm a total noob to it) to rename the files in a folder (if possible using something like this - set folder to choose folder) to coincide to a list of names (in a txt or csv - can be any extension needed).
To paint the picture clearer I'll have something like this
Files_as_they_are
Files_renamed
01.mkv
Valar Dohaeris.mkv
02.mkv
Mhysa.mkv
Here is what I've tryed so far : (some point through the night I've tryed to repeat part of the process thus the "fcount" but the result was even worse)

This will work with a comma separated text file,
i.e.:

how do i remove a file from my favorites list on my hard drive. i was trying to put a file in my documents, and it added it to my favorites. i have tried to drag it off but it won't disappear and it won't go into the trash either. any suggestions. i think it is simple because i have done it before, but can't remember what i did to correct it. thanks
