Favorites trahed Bridge

Tried to add an internal drive to favorites and it made Bridge completely usless.  I've Uninstalled Photoshop, manually deleted all CS5 and Bridge folders I can find in "program files" and "users".  Also ran the "Clean Script".  After reinstalling CS5 all the old favorites are still listed in Bridge and it is still useless.
After all the actions taken shouldn't the favorites be set back to default?  How do you get favorites out of Bridge.   I've purged the cache.
How do you do a clean install?
Thanks

The preference file will be  unaffected by an uninstall and reinstall.  The only way to set it back  to factory default is to reset preferences by holding down the Ctrl key  and starting Bridge.  You will get a reset window.
To remove something from Favorites, highlight it then click on File/Remove from Favoites.

  • CS3: Favorites from Bridge dont show up in Adobe Dialog

Favorites from Bridge don't show up in the Adobe dialogs of ID, AI and PS.
This issue was already reported here: http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc3e4b8/12
with no solutions or workarounds to the problem. This function was very useful in CS2. I can help myself on a Mac but file handling is very annoying if you have to work with Windows (XP).
Anyone with a solution out there?
    regards
    dirk

It works differently in CS3 than CS2. From the file open dialog, browse
to where you need to be. Right click the folder and choose add to favorites.

  • Rename favorites in Bridge

I have many folders named "images" in my favorites in Bridge. Is there a way to distinguish them, other than clicking on each one? It makes sense to name a folder "images" inside folder structure, but the favorits structure is flat, so perhaps there is a way to add a description or anything that would be visible in favorites list?

Little late for the party here but I found the fix you desire!
I was running into the same problem with a bit of a different background and it had been driving me nuts for a long time.
Grabbed from a different forum post, quoted below.
    Windows:
Using Explorer, go to any folder in Windows where you don't mind having an extra shortcut. Just stick it under C:\Documents and settings\Your Name or anywhere, this isn't that important. But you probably don't want to clutter your desktop with them.
Right click / New / Shortcut
Browse to the location of the folder you wish to make a favorite
    Click Next
Give it a nice descriptive name
With Bridge open, drag the shortcut you just made into your favorites.
    Mac:
Use finder to to the folder you wish to make into a favorite
CMD Click or right click on the folder.
    Select Make Alias
Rename your Alias to a nice descriptive name
With Bridge open, drag the Alias you just made into your favorites
I cant confirm with the Windows side, but it works perfectly for me on the Mac side of things.
Hope it works out for you!
    Cheers

  • "open in new window"- from favorites panel - bridge

Hi Bridge, I love your way of working
However 2 things make my hair rise
    - I can't "open in new window" from a favorited location. only in the "content" panel... which is rather "weird"
    - I have to "reveal in finder" to be able to zip/rar files.
Please fix this, I know i am not the only one who would love this.

    - I can't "open in new window" from a favorited location. only in the "content" panel... which is rather "weird"
To be honest, I never thought about that option, I always use the shortcut cmd + N for a new window and point to a folder in either folder panel or favorites panel. There is always something to learn
Having the same option in Favorites as in Folder panel would be very logical indeed!
    - I have to "reveal in finder" to be able to zip/rar files.
I think you are bound to do so always because Bridge is in fact a browser and in itself not capable of editing files. The export panel did some tasks with resizing but has been discontinued in CC.
Only if Adobe made an application to unzip or open other packages the possibility for using the tools menu and reach the start up script for such app would be the shortest road possible to my knowledge. But also AFAIK Adobe does not offer such application.
And using MacOsX 10.8.4 my downloaded zip files are unzipping themselves automatically...
Please fix this, I know i am not the only one who would love this.
This won't work because this is a user to user forum, use the feature request option here:

  • How to transfer Collections and Favorites from Bridge CS5 to CS6

Have the same problem every upgrade. Having to build up my Collections and Favorites from scratch.  (Keywords can be exported, so these are OK). Are there CS5 files i can copy into CS6? Gratefull for any advice. Tom

Hello! It would be nice to have a migration script in Bridge too...
In the past, there were folders you could copy, but given the database changes, I'm not sure, I need to check first with the team.
On a Mac, it is in the collections folders in ~Library/ApplicationSupport/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections/
    PC(XP): C:Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS5\collections
    VIsta/7: user/app data/roaming/Adobe/Bridge CS5/Collections
    Hope this helps

  • Can't open folders in Favorites Panel-Bridge CS3

I just added a couple of folders to my "favorites" panel, so I can find them more easily.  I have only two folders in the favorites panel.  But when I click on them, nothing happens.  They don't open.  At the bottom of the screen, the loading icon rotates (next to number of items, and number hidden) but then goes away and nothing happens.
I can open these folders from the Content Panel.
    Thanks in advance ...

Not sure if I understand you correctly but pointing to a folder in the
favorites should show the content of that folder in the content panel, is
that what you can see or do you expect something different to happen?
If you point to a folder in the favorites panel and use right mouse click
you have two options, remove from favorites and reveal in Finder.
Try reveal in Finder and see to what folder you end up and check if it has
    content.
And when you say 'can open in the content panel' from what point did you
start, the folder panel or the favorites panel?
I can open these folders from the Content Panel.

  • How do I stop Favorites in Bridge from opening up in Photoshop?

The second you click any file in the favorites panel, it opens up in photoshop. I tried disabling all the scripts in preferences with no luck. I need to stop files from opening so I can label them, move them into another folder, etc.
    Thanks in advance.

I need to stop files from opening so I can label them, move them into another
    folder, etc.
You can't because that what the favorites panel is all about. It is an alias
of the folder or file you have put in it, sort of the icons that are in your
Dock for MacOSX, click on it  and it opens or shows the application.
But you have put files in the favorites panel and in fact it is designed to
put folders in it. When you click on that folder it shows the content of
that folder in the content panel (where you can rate, label, move etc) so
you won't have to dig in to your folder panel for that :-).
It is useful for having a few folders you want to visit regularly but if you
have a lot in that panel so you have to look and even scroll for it the
benefit of speed is almost undone...
Since it is an alias of the original you therefore can not change it in
anyway. You should use the content panel for that. To get rid of the files
in the favorites panel Click and Hold a file in this panel and either drag
it to the trash or use right mouse click and hold and choose remove from
    finder.

  • Adobe Bridge CS4 stopped working after Mavericks 10.9.3 upgrade

I don't know if it is due to the upgrade today or something else, but since upgrading, I cannot use the file folder function in adobe bridge cs4.
The files are on the drive and can easily be found in finder but the favorites in bridge and folder function in bridge does now show a choice of User folder to drill down to the files.
Anyone know if this is related to the new upgrade?
If so, I guess I'll have to cave in and buy LIghtroom or switch to iPhoto?
    Thanks
    Tom

    Thanks for the tip.
I had already checked there and they were as puzzled as I was.
There was an article in macworld.com this morning that addressed it...it's not just adobe, it's a problem some folks are having with the udate on either osX or itunes causeing the Users folder to become hidden.
The article gave a sudo command to unhide it.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  • Workaround for slow Bridge when network drive is inaccessible?

    Hello all,
Hoping someone has some information regarding an issue I'm having with my workflow and Bridge. I have CS6 installed and am using the 64bit version of Bridge for file management. I work from 2 locations at the moment and have a portable drive that I take with me from place to place with my work files on it. In one location I can plug the drive directly into my system via USB, but in the other location (for various reasons) I have to plug it in elsewhere and access the drive through a network. This all works fine and I have no issues with getting to my files in general. Where I do get an issue however is when I start trying to add shorcuts to the drive within the "Favorites" menu in bridge.
The short of it is that as long as I have a shortcut to the networked drive in the Favorites menu, Bridge will run EXTREMELY slow when I am at the work location where I am accessing the drive directly. It appears that Bridge is trying to look for the networked drive on all the networked computers at that workplace every time I try to access a file or even use the menu system within Bridge (to right click a file for properties for example). I can alleviate the issue by removing the networked drive from my favorites or disconnecting form the internet (that one is not a practical option however), at which time Bridge stops trying to constantly look for the drive eveywhere and returns to normal speed.
This isn't a horrible issue for me, it just creaates a lot of repeat work of having to navigate to the network every time I open bridge again at the location where I access the drive remotely, or having to constantly re-add the networked drive back into the favorites every time... then having to remove it again before use at the other location and so on. Is there a way to adjust or change Bridge's behavior to basically tell it that if the specific drive isn't available after the first attempt to ignore it from then on unless I specfically click on the favorites link? Or in lieu of that, is there a way to have alternate "profiles" within Bridge that have seperate favorites etc. so that I can switch back and forth depending on the location I am at?
Like I said, not a horrible issue, but I really like having the quick, easy access to the drive that the favorite menu provides and would love to have a work around if one is possible. I realize that this setup is not common and so I might just have to deal, but if there is a super user solution or something I can tweak in a config file somewhere I would love to know! Thanks for the input and advice in advance!

Thanks for taking the time to respond guys! Yeah, I didn't think there would be any easy answer to this one. I actually have never had any issues running Bridge with any network I've been on with the exception of the lag when the network drive isn't present. Or to be more specific, severe lag when the networked drive is stored in favorites and then is absent in a situation where there is another different network of computers present. Don't know if it will help anyone who is trying to connet to a network drive etc. but all I do to get Bridge to "see" the network drive is navigate to the desired network drive or folder in Windows Explorer and then drag the drive or folder icon over from the Windows Explorer browser into my favorites area in Bridge. It drops the network link right into the favorites menu complete with a special network icon for the link. That has proven to be the fastest way for me to get a correct and functional connection to a network drive stored in Bridge. I was doing this with Bridge CS5 as well and it has always worked great for me.
For my network drive situation specifcally, I actually link to the entire drive as It's used solely for my design work. It's uniquely named with a title specific to me and my business so it definitely wouldn't be sharing a common name with any other drives or folders on another system on the network. I save the link to the network drive in my favorites and then I only ever have to click that to get to the root directory of the drive and navigate to whatever I need. Works great and super fast at the location where I need to use the network drive. Maybe I don't have hiccups like some because my computer has a reserved IP for that network tied to the MAC address of my computer so it is always the same IP every time.
The functionality I would like is actually very close in Bridge, with the only issue being that it insists on searching other computers on the network after every process it does if the network drive isn't present. The location I work at that doesn't use the network drive setup has 5 computers linked up to their network and so I guess it's scouring each of those every time I do any single thing in Bridge, looking for the long lost network drive lol! I have to confess this is strange behavior and really seems like a bug (albeit maybe a minor one due to the unusual workflow method) to me and Bridge is the only software I have that does this type of behavior. I can't really think of a good reason why you would need Bridge to look for a drive or folder in a location other than the one you have specified in the favorite path for it. I mean what if you have 2 copies of the same folder in different locations for backup purposes? You wouldn't want Bridge taking the initiative on it's own and accessing your backup folder without telling you,  especially if there are legacy versions of a file you wish to retain in the backup location.
If anyone ends up having a solution for this I would love to hear it! Otherwise I'll just have to hope that Adobe eventually buffs up the network functionality of Bridge down the road and in the meantime add and remove the favorites path all the time. I would think smooth network functionality would be increasingly needful and important however. I mean Adobe even offers a cloud service version of their software... That implies to me that they are aware that more and more work will be done "in the cloud" and over networked scenarios. I have my fingers crossed! Thanks again for the info guys!

  • Can i tell adobe bridge to look only in certain folders?

I don't want or need Adobe Bridge looking through my entire computer for stills. Is there a way to tell Bridge CC to look only in certain folders.
Let's say that I have a folder called "stills" that is part of a documentary film media folder. I just want Adobe Bridge looking for stills in that one folder and nowhere else. Is it possible to get Bridge searching only in that folder?

Yes, first navigate to the desired folder. Then add this folder as a favorite
    This are my favorites:
Then you simply click one of your favorites and Bridge will only show its content

  • Version Cue in Bridge: Menu Bar not showing

I am a new Bridge user. I started to go through a tutorial and learn Version Cue. When I start Version Cue by using the Favorites in Bridge, (I have the layout set to default) and there is a large CONTENT panel in the center, it shows the Icons on the dark background, eg: Browse Servers, Recent Projects, [my version cue server]
What the tutorial is showing and my page does not, is a light gray/white menu bar above with some smaller icons, eg. one for Inspector, one for New Project...
How do I get that to show? I can work around some of this, but I have not been able to find how to show multiple versions in the Content window without it.

    Jane,
You need to specify which exact version of Bridge and the OS you are running.
Aside from that, you should know that disabling Version Cue is often recommended as a remedy for a variety of Bridge ailments.
I don't have the suite and I have Version Cue permanently disabled.
    Last, there is a dedicated
Version Cue forum deep in the entrails of the Creative Suite forum:

  • Importing of settings from CS5.5 is incomplete.

When I installed Photoshop CS6, I opted to import the presets from CS5.5.  My custom workspace in both Photoshop and Bridge were included, but the custom actions I regularly use in Photoshop, and my Favorites in Bridge, were not.  Until the import/export option can be made more comprehensive, Is there a document available somewhere for how to manually import all custom settings, both global and in individual user profiles?  I need this not just for Photoshop, but for the entire Creative Suite.

    Hello cwcsdc,
Preset migration only works on Photoshop presets that are saved in the default presets folder. On Mac this is on /Users/[username]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets and on Windows they are in the user AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CS5/Presets folders.
Best thing you can do is to copy all your presets to the respective folders within those directories. If your presets are not in these folders, they will not show up in the app UI anyways, so moving them will help you reach them easier.
Sadly, we can't account for presets from the other apps in the Creative Suite.
    Hope this answers your questions.

  • Mac InDesign CS6 crashes when adding files with links to Windows network into book

Our Mac network is unstable, so I tested linking InDesign CS6 files (on my Mac's hard drive) to .jpg files on our company's very stable Windows network rather to the same .jpg files on our Mac network. I tested with 4 simple, small InDesign files. When these 4 files were linked to images on a storage drive on our Mac network, I could drag all 4 files into a book and export the book to PDF. But when linked to the same images on the Windows network, while each file would open fine with no errors, and while I could generate a PDF from each individual file, the moment I dragged the 4 files into a book, InDesign crashed, generating pages of information in the crash report form.
I have no problem making 500 page manuals on my hard drive, comprised of about 50 InDesign files, with links to THOUSANDS of image files on a storage drive on our Mac network. Is there some trick to making a book with files linked to images on a Windows network? If there is no simple answer, who could I call to set us up so this will work?
I'm using InDesign CS6 for Mac, totally updated, version 8.0.1.
    Thank you so much!!!

It seems, this is all you need to do... your message isn't clear as to whether you've fixed your issue or not.
    [Extract from link above]...
"Add the network share(s) to your Favorites in Bridge and drag assets into your layouts from Bridge or Mini-Bridge. The paths stored in the InDesign links will be full network paths, and both sets of machines should have no problem finding them. This is the more usual InDesign workflow."

  • Vista and CS3 - Summary of issues found so far

After working with CS3 for a couple of weeks, here is a summary of definite problems I have run into:
    1) Memory leakage: The CS3 apps fragment memory at a fast clip. After a couple of hours of normal production work with PS, IA and ID I can recover more than 500MB of RAM using a memory defragger. (The record so far is 856MB.) Workaround is to shut down the apps and run the defragger every two to three hours.
    2) Bridge interacts with PS, ID and IA in some unknown way to hang vector copy/paste. Copying a path to the clipboard in InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator hangs the app until Bridge is closed. There is no problem if Bridge is not running. Workaround is to either keep Bridge shut down or close it if you run into a hang. The problem does NOT manifest copying text or pixel data, as far as I can tell; only vectors. It also only seems to affect clipboard copying. Alt-drag copying is not affected.
    3) The "Recent" function in Explorer is not accessible from the Adobe dialog in any of the apps, which is unfortunate as it's extremely useful. Currently I flip back and forth between the Adobe dialog and the OS dialog, according to whether I need the thumbnails or want to navigate to a recently used folder.
    4) Favorites in Bridge do not show up in the Adobe dialog in any of the suite apps, a serious omission from the CS2 version. I don't know if this is a bug or a deleted feature. (If the latter: shame on somebody!)
    5) Accessing a Version Cue project requires Bridge to be running. InDesign will crash hang when opening a Recent File that is in a Version Cue project if Bridge CS3 is not running.
The only other comment I can throw in here is that the faster load time promoted for Photoshop CS3 doesn't seem to manifest in a Vista environment. There may be a marginal improvement, but it's not significant. Illustrator remains very slow to load and to close, although it is much, much nicer to work with than earlier versions and does run faster.
I'm posting this for general info and in hopes it helps the engineering folks track down the bugs. The memory leakage and vector copy issues are surprising. The seem very large to have slipped through beta testing undetected.

    those with problems
    try the silent deployment technique
finally got the silent install working
and design premium cs3 is now installed!!!
    used application.xml.override
deploymentFile used was the install.xml included in the dvd's adobe cs3\deployment directory
    the commandline wENT--
    E:\Adobe cs3>setup.exe --mode=silent --deploymentFile="e:\adobe cs3\deployment\install.xml"
    E:\Adobe cs3>Begin adobe setup
    UI mode : silent
End adobe setup. Exit code: 0
    E:\Adobe cs3>
the laterlines took the time but for good
and got exit code: 0 which means all merry- no errors occured during install
seems giving the complete path (not relative) to deploymentFile did the trick . earlier the setup had exited with exit code: 7
but GUI install still doesnt work on my vista
"so is it a problem of the installer GUI alone?"
and trying to uninstall cs3 from the add/remove progs bring up cs3 setup only to be followed immediately by "this program stopped working" vista message.
so a silent uninstall may be the option ...if i need it
thanks adobe for this deployment technique
    thnx for the wonderful products
thanx for all the installer trouble
thanx for the 10 hours ill spent

  • Mount a disconnected Network Drive - Mac

If I put a networked drive in my Favorites in Bridge, it shows up as a question mark after I shutdown and restart my Mac, as I haven't connected to it. Would be great if Bridge could hook into the Mac network and then mount the drive when selected in Bridge Favorites.
We have about 10 Server shares here, and don't always have all of them mounted.

    Hi,
Sorry for the delay in reply.
I compared registry and the following 2 key will be created once mapped a drive:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Network\<letter>
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MountPoints2\<##server#folder>
I seems that you tried to delete the second one already. Please check if both keys still exists and delete them again as a test.
Note: backup the key before deleting incase any mistake.
