Fax Auto Answer

How do I stop my 8600 plus from answering my phone calls as if they are incoming faxes. Occaissionaly someone will call and get the annoying fax noise instead of being able to speak or leave a message.

touch the little phone icon on the printer's control panel, that will bring up fax settings. Touch "Fax Auto Answer", and select "Off".
When auto answer is off, you have to manually answer fax calls. When you pick up the phone and hear the fax tone, dial "123" and the fax machine will take over.

  • FAX Setup for Officejet 8620 -- Auto Answer & Cord "Fail"

I have encountered two issues after setting up my new Officejet 8620.
I have followed instructions for connecting the printer, using the phone cord provided by HP.  Repeated tests insist "FAIL" for "Using Correct Type of Phone Cord with Fax." I have tried hard reset a couple of times with no change in test result.
The fax is working: I can send and receive faxes, but why the "FAIL"? I see from other forum messages that this is a common issue.
Second issue is that the Auto Answer is set to "ON," but the fax doesn't answer incoming calls. I get the message on the display screen giving me the options to "Ignore" or "Accept", and pushing "Accept" does result in the fax coming through, but I need the machine's "Auto Answer" function to work. The 8620 is not connected to an answering machine. It's connected directly to the phone wall jack. Also,I have disabled voicemail service on that phone line, so there shouldn't be anything interfering with Auto Answer.
I would be grateful for help resolving these problems.

Hello @hpuser24333, Welcome to the forums
I read your post about the concerns and issues you're running into with your Officejert 8620, and I wanted to reach out to share my suggestions with you.
I would recommend a factory reset on the printer, and to run through the fax set up again. I am hoping you won't run into the same problems again however, if you do, please give us a call.
On the printer, select the Setup Menu, Tools, Restore Factory Defaults, Yes, restart the printer.
When the power is back on select Setup, Fax Setup, Fax Setup Wizard, Yes, continue through the setup.
    I really hope this helps!

  • KX-TGE260 Won't Auto-Answer FAX Call

Just replaced an older residential Panasonic remote/base station telephone system with the new KX-TGE460 system.  Older system used to auto-direct an incoming FAX system to the FAX, which is contained in an HP all-in-one printer.
After install, I found the only way to get the FAX to auto-answer an incoming FAX was to set the # of rings to the same as the answering machine in the Panasonic base station.  Clearly, this wasn't an  option, as a voice caller gets the FAX tones from the machine as well (and over) any voice message left, while an incoming FAX is recorded as voice on the answering machine.  Again, this wasn't a problem with the old system.
Also, when I went through the online support chat system for this question, which was linked to my model number, the chat (after a lengthy wait) indicated that I was "at the wrong department" and gave me the call-in number for support.  I called and spoke to a support rep (after a short wait, thank goodness) who told me that there was no way this setup would work, and there was "no way to set up the new system to auto-direct the FAX signal to the FAX machine."   In addition, when I told her I was on an ATT u-verse VOIP system, she told me that "my VOIP voice system isn't compatible with any of the Panasonic wireless systems."    Ludicrous and totally incorrect, as the system (which transmits voice signals over an analog output from the gateway/modem) works just fine.  It was  pretty clear that she didn't even know what a VOIP was, or how an ATT u-Verse, Verizon FIOS or any other of the VOIP systems worked.  Since most landline carriers and cable phone operators are convering rapidly to Internet-signal voice service and getting away from POTS,  Panasonic is way behind the curve in training its support staff.
Just in case anyone else has encountered this problem and has a fix, thought I'd post it here; the intent isn't to slam Panasonic, but to see if there's a workaround that someone's found.
    Thanks.

    Hi MHixson,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I am currently not familiar with your KX-TGE460 system, and VOIP system. However, I found this website while searching. Faxing with VoIP Services. If Medium speed doesn't work, you can try setting it to Slow.
You can also try setting the printer to 4 or 5 rings, and then the answering machine to 6 rings.
This website applies to every HP All-In-One printer. How to connect your HP Fax Device to an ISDN, ADSL, PBX, or VoIP line.
Hope this information helps, and have a nice day!

  • Officejet Pro 8610: Will not Auto Answer

Evening all.  We just purchased two HP Officejet Pro 8610's and have set them up at the office, however, we have noticed that even though we have the Auto Answer feature enabled, neither machine is automatically answering.  Instead they are still requiring a manual "yes, go ahead and answer that" button press which does not work for us as we often do not have people around those machines.
In running a Fax Test Report I got the following print-out...
    Fax Hardware Test:  PASS
Fax Connected to Active Telephone Wall Jack:  PASS
Phone Cord Connected to Correct Port on Fax:  PASS
Using Correct Type of Phone Cord with Fax:  PASS

    Fax Forwarding:  Off

Our header and number have also been set.  At this time I am assuming I missed something in the User's Manual, since this is happening with both machines.  Might someone know of what I missed?

    Hi RandyT9,
I believe it is related to distintive ring setting. Have you tried to set the Distinctive Ring feature to All Rings and see if the printer can answer it automatically?
If you using distintive ring  service, please refer to User manual on the distinctive ring setting.
If you are not using a distinctive ring service, check to make sure that the Distinctive Ring
feature on the printer is set to All Rings.
    Hope this may helps.

  • How do I set up a port on a SPA8000 to auto answer for a 2 way intercom/paging?

I have a customer with an analog pbx system now that I am changing over to a sip system. They have a few lines that need to still have analog connectivity so I am installing a Cisco/Linksys SPA8000. One of my issues is with a 2-way PA system between their main office and shop. They have a Viking Model HF-3W paging system presently that allows them to communicate both ways without having to pick up a phone at the shop. I need to set the SPA8000 to have one port auto answer for this paging system but I am not sure how.

See attached LV86 example. Open the properties dialog of the knob for more info about its configuration.

  • Fax and Answer machine issue

Now hat I have my HP6500A Plus connected the fax works great.  However my answer machine will no take messages.

    Hello A082692a,
First important question is, is it a real answering machine or something like a Voicemail service. With a real answering machine click HERE to see how to set up your fax and answering machine. Be awere of the fact that the message you record on your answering machine needs to be recording to several rules. But all this is explained on the page you can reach by clicking on the link above.
Voicemail service will most likely not work with the fax, but there are som e internet sites with thing you can try. A Google search on use a fax with voicemail will help.

  • Auto answer after a few rings?

I use to have a phone that had the autoanswering option in the setting while hooked to a headset. It would be very convenient on the IPhone cause I have a telecom system for my motorcycle and i'd like my IPhone to auto answer after a few rings.
Any idea how-to do that if possible?
    Thanks.

It's not possible. that's not a feature of the iPhone OS.

  • Nokia 700 and auto answer / handsfree kit function...

Can this phone auto answer, at all? This is for in-car use, when external power is connected continuously. With previous Nokia phones (I have the E51) the Tektronic Car Pack does all that, very well, but the company seems to have died. I cannot see any config in the phone. Could a 3rd party cluetooth-connected car kit make it work that way? The 700 user manual is near-useless - just states the obvious for each config item

you need to set "automatic answer" option to "on" from accessories settings menu from phone's settings

  • BB Flip External Display and Auto Answer

    Hi,
I've only had this phone for 2 wks and I'm already having an issue--for some reason the external display won't display incoming calls and once I flip it open it automatically answers. I couldn't find the option on the phone that would allow me to at least turn off the Auto answer. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Press the green phone key. Then press the menu key and select Options. Next select General Options and finally change the auto-answer to the desired option.

  • Auto-answer on Samsung TV?

    My Nan currently has a
ASUS Videophone Touch AiGuru SV1T set to automatically answer video calls.
I can't find an auto-answer option on the Skype app for her new Samsung TV.
Does anyone know how to set the tv to auto-answer? It's a really useful option for elderly relatives who struggle with buttons/remote controls.
    Many thanks.

auto-answer can definitely be set in the settings of the Skype app that is built into the Logitech TV Cam HD
unfortunately I am not near where mine is installed so I cannot give exact clicks to get to where it is configured

  • How can i set Messages to auto answer video chats?

I used to be able to have iMessages and iChat auto-answer incoming video chat/calls.  I use this to communicate with staff who may not be able to quickly accept the incoming event.

    Hi,
The AppleScript for this is still  there.
It can be set in Messages Menu > Preference > General Section in the bottom drop down.
The Sound/alerts pane has gone in Mavericks and sound can now only be changed for  "Messages Received".
Although I must admit to not trying it I have presumed the AppleScript would then only work for Text Invites.
Having said that the AppleScript should be able to run as a separate even like an App from the Dock.
The Drop Down in Messages has an Option to Show In Finder effectively.

  • UCCX Agent Desktop Auto Answering Calls

Has anyone heard of a situation where CAD is auto answering calls?  The users are reporting it sporadically only when they get a off a call and a call is waiting in queue, the call will automatically connect right after they hang up the first call.
    Sounds bizarre, I know.
Short of restarting services, i'm not sure where to go with this one.  I've had a couple clients report this issue to me.  They are running UCCX 9.0 (2) SU1
    Thanks.

We've had a similar issue.  While the agent is talking, the CAD changes state to "work" i.e. it thinks that the call has been hung up.  It then goes to "ready" while the agent is still talking.  As a result, when the agent hangs up their call, they are in "ready" state and are given the next call immediately.
You may want to check if this is the case with the agent state.
If the state changes are happening like this, check that the handset is snugly sitting on the cradle, reboot the client PC and have them log off/on the phone.
Be sure also to check the CAD agent logs.  I'm about to check ours now to see if they show anything up.

  • Auto Answer will NOT stay on after power cycle or reset - C20 TC7.3.0 UCM 10.5SU1 registration

As the title suggests, I've got 2 C20 codecs running the latest 7.3.0 code I can download registered to UCM 10.5.1 SU1.  Power cycling or resetting them causes the auto-answer to default to off.  There is still no way to change auto-answer from within UCM, and TMS cannot manage the device anymore.
I've found a couple of instances of this with older TC and UCM code, but it seems this issue continues today.
    Any ideas?

Saw that and it ended up being the right direction, but since I was on a different version I wasn't able to use that device pack.
So, I found out the following from TAC:
Auto-Answer became a configurable field presented to UCM in TC7.2.x, but the appropriate management fields on the web pages didn't become available until later in the device pack. I read through a couple of device pack readme's and I didn't see anything related, but sure enough installing 10.5.1.11005-2 presented the fields and that works fine now.

  • Which is the best handsfree auto answer app for iPhone

Which is the best handsfree auto answer app for text messages on Iphone?

There aren't any that I know of.

  • Auto-Answer Option

I have always wondered wht the Thunderbolt does not have an auto-answer option.  I happen to be helping an employee with his Droid 3 (he upgraded from a basic phone) and noticed that it was a setting on that phone.  I was hoping that with the all the updates that this phone has gotten (some that did not work out that well), that it would have been included in one of the updates.  I am not complaining, but it would be nice to be able to answer a call (while in the car) and actually do it "handsfree".  As of right now you have to press the button on your earpiece to answer a call if you are using a bluetooth earpiece.

I can give another use case for this. Right now, I work remotely for my company. To facilitate better communication, we keep an iPad at my old desk and I video conference in for most of the day. Its great because people can come up and chat iwth me or ask questions just like they normally would. When its meeting time, folks just grab the iPad and take me with them.
The biggest obstacle I have is getting on in the morning or getting back on when the network drops. I always have to have someone on hand to answer my call. If Skype for iPad had auto-answer, it would save me a lot of headaches, since I'd be able to call into the iPad at anytime without someone else around to answer.
    Hope this helps!
