Fax: HP Officejet 8600 Plus (all in one wireless printer) OS: windows 7 64bit DSL Router/Modem

this is my second Wireless printer from HP. Main problem and only problem is that every time my phone rings the fax answers which is very annoying, hearing the tone while trying to answer the phone.  I followed directions exactly.  Have the fax set to answer on 6th ring...have auto answer set to off....yet it continuously answers when the phone rings.  I've tried turning the printer off and it still happens...even when the PC and Printer are off it happens.
I am on a DSL line...share line with phone...have voice mail....have a home network.....
This question was solved.

Hi,
Considering the fact taht you have tried turning the printer off and it still happens, I find it hard to believe it is the printer.. the fax should be turned off as any other functionality of the device.
Please try unplugging the phone line from the 1LINE port of the fax and try dialing to your phone line.. Can you hear any fax tone then?
If so, I affraid it is surely not coming from the HP device...
If you can see any change, replug the printer.. make sure you connect the cable into 1LINE and not into any other port by mistake...
Also make sure you connect the phone cable using an ADSL micro-filter.. make sure the printer connected into the Phone port of the filter and not into the ADSL port by mistake.
Please let me know of any change,
Shlomi

  • Wireless configuration for HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer on Ubuntu 10.04

I have bought a HP OfficeJet 6500A plus All-In-One printer CN557A, which I want to use with ubuntu 10.04 64-bit as a wireless network printer.
Before i bought i checked compatibility on www.hplipopensource.org and www.openprinting.org, and all was in order.
The machine is autodetected and fully functional when connected with a usb cable, but i have not managed to get it to work as a wireless printer.
    This is what I did:
I configured the printer on the wireless network (through the printer interface), and it connects. It prints out a "Wireless Network Test Report", and everything works. I can ping to its local ip adress, and access it through the browser. HP eprint also works.
I installed hplip 3.11.10 and dependencies manually. I did this because the default hplip in ubuntu 10.04 did not recognise the device.
I ran 'hp-check', which gave no errors or warnings:

HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
    2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
    3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

I then ran 'sudo hp-setup', chose the device (which was detected), chose my wireless network, entered the wireless security key. On the configuration results dialog I get two messages:
"Your printer has been succesfully configured on the wireless network. You may now unplug the USB cable"
    and
"The Ethernet cable is plugged in which will prevent you from connecting to a wireless network. To connect wirelessly, remove the cable and try again. (VSA000)"
There is no ethernet cable plugged in, so i can't remove it. I unplug the USB cable and click 'finish'. This makes the 'hp-setup'-dialog start over again, and the printer has not been installed.
In the terminal i have the following:
    tjoff@mek-403-jakbo-01:~$ sudo hp-setup

A friendly soul on ubuntuforums pointed out to me, that the wireless configuration is only necessary when the printer is NOT connected to a (W)LAN. So all I really had to do was to configure the printer in the CUPS administation page, and it worked. Problem solved. Silly me.

  • Hp - photosmart e-all-in-one wireless printer cn731a- nothing prints??

    HP - Photosmart e-All-in-One Wireless Printer  (CN731A)
Went through setup on Windows 7 64-bit, printed the test photo, came out great.  Thought everything was good to go.  Later, when trying to print a document, it wouldn't print.  Computer popped up a message saying "Successfully printed" but when I went to the printer, there was nothing there.  I tried running a wireless network test on the printer's screen, and once that page printed with the results, immediately after that, the document I was trying to get finally printed.  This was an early Christmas gift for my parents, & my mom just informed me that she tried to print again today, but nothing happened on the printer.  I am out of town now and am not able to troubleshoot on my own on the printer like I did a couple days ago so came here for advice.. Any idea what the issue might be? Did I maybe miss a step after doing the test print of the photo?  Any ideas would be appreciated!

    Hello,
    Try the below steps ..
While the printer is ON, Unplug the power cord from back of the printer.
Disconnect all the cables that are connected to the printer.
    Wait for 30 seconds.
Plug in only the Power Cord. ( Printer would Power on ).
Try making a standalone Color copy of a document . If it fails to print a copy, then it could either be an issue with the Ink cartridges  or the Printer .

  • Best all-in-one wireless printer for Mac 10.9.2

Looking for best wireless all-in-one for home use.  I have Mac OSX 10.9.2, iPhone 5, iPad and a wireless network.  Not technically inclined.  Any recommendations?

I wish a few more users would take the time to share their experiences with printers. I have had a Canon MX870 for several years that is nothing but a perpetual headache -- it needs to be reconnected to the network three or four times a day or it simply will not print. There are lots of posts on this topic and I have tried every possible solution with no luck. I am reluctant to buy another Canon -- this experience has left me doubting their products. I am also reluctant, based on past experience, to consider an HP product. So that pretty much leaves Epson -- but which Epson? I am looking for an all-in-one wireless printer that will STAY CONNECTED to the network. Top-quality printing would be nice, but frankly, it's not on the top of my priority list. I just want to be able to use the printer, scanner and copier without wasting an hour of my day on maintenance. If you have had positive experience in this regard, please take a few seconds to post your recommendations. Thanks. (I am running the latest version of Mavericks on a new Mac Pro.)

  • My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus all-in-one doesn't scan over my wife network anymore

I have a wi-fi network in my home which works fine for internet on my laptop, and I used to be able to both print and scan over this network just fine.  I can still print using the network, but can no longer put stuff into the document feeder and go back to the laptop and use the scan function.  The scan function actually no longer even appears on the icon I used to have for it, only the print function.
The scan function does not appear in my device manager (control panel), in either the image devices or the printer devices area.
I have tried to uninstall and reinstall this device several times in many different ways and even tried to obtain the updated driver from the internet.  I was successful a few months ago in reinstalling the device and retrieving the ability to control the scanner from the laptop.  Now I can only reinstall the printer function, periood.
How can I get back the scanner function on my laptop to use over my wi-fi network?  Of course my warranty for service expired earlier this year.

Good day and welcome to the forums, @MSRantal
I read about how you can no longer scan over the network from your Officejet 8600 Plus, to your laptop, and I will do my best to help you out. I have some questions to get started.
    I would like to know:
Which operating system you are running on your laptop?
Are you able to scan to another computer over the network?
Have you tried plugging in a USB to the laptop and scanning?
If yes, did a USB connected scan work?
Have you tried scanning after disabling your firewall and/or anti-virus?
When you install the printer, do you see any error messages (or does the install completed successfully)?
If you do not have your printer plugged in directly to a wall outlet, try that.
    Hoping to hear from you!
    Happy Tuesday!

  • HP Printers - 8000 Pro and Pro 8500A Plus all in one wireless setups

First, six weeks of customer support has not been able to get my 8500A Plus all-in-one install on my XP Pro SP3 laptop.  I've uninstalled the printer using HP's utility, the Control Panel and still can't install it wireless to this laptop. I am about to attempt an Ethernet connection, but have little to no confidence in it's success. The support has been terrible - repeating the same steps over and over, promising call backs and never calling back, promising escalation and always talking to a level 1 support person that repeats the exact same steps, and promises to solve the problem.  The last person couldn't figure out how to shut off the wireless feature on the printer - it hung every time I did what he told me too.  I also get periodic "crashes" white screens on the printer's display and all of the lights flashing.
Anyone have a suggestion?  HP want to replace this printer?
Second, since I've had so much trouble with the 8500, the uninstallation process uninstalled the 8000 Pro I had on my network, wireless and working.  Now, the installation of the 8000 Pro has failed three times.  I'm attempting a USB installation with hopes to switch to wireless, but the process (at around 33% of step 3 of 4) is taking hours!  What gives?
Any suggestions?  I surely don't want to call HP Customer Care for support, and waste another six weeks on a second printer.

  • Photosmart 6180 All-in-One Wireless Connection After Windows 7 Laptop Added to Network

I replaced a broken Vista laptop with a new Windows 7 64-bit laptop.  After I installed my Photosmart 6180 All-in-One, the printer stopped working correctly when we try to connect to it wirelessly.
I followed all the directions HP provides for updating the printer software and drivers for Windows 7.
We've tried all the suggestions for resetting the printer that we can find on the HP forums.
The printer works properly when connected via USB cable to a Vista laptop.
I was not able to get the printer to work via USB cable connected to the Windows 7 laptop.
When we try to connect via the wireless signal, regardless of Vista or Windows 7, the printer goes into an endless initialization loop.
We need to determine whether achieving a wireless connection is hopeless.  If it is not, we need step-by-step instructions on how to resolve the issue.
The security system for the printer is WEP.  We connect through a wireless router provided by Verizon FIOS.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Some of HP's printers do not support WEP shared.  If you are using WEP shared this could be the problem.  I would suggest turning off the WEP security temporarily to see if that fixes the issue.  If it does then you can look at changing the security to WEP Open system authentication.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (All-in-One) - Incoming Fax but mistakenly answer phone

I have landline phone service.  On this line, I have multiple phones, an answering machine, internet service via wireless Uverse setup, and the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus as a fax.  It's also a printer/scanner - but that uses the wireless Uverse service.
The unit works as a phone, if I answer in fewer than 4 rings.  The answer machine picks up after 4 rings.  If a fax, the fax connects after 6 rings.  (Auto answer function is turned on.)  This works.
If I mistakenly answer a fax call with the phone that the HP 8600 is connected through, I can press: 1,2,3 and the fax will answer.  This works.
Problem: If I mistakenly answer a fax call from one of the other phones in the house (same phone line is ringing as before - but the phone is NOT the one through which the HP 8600 is connected) - 1,2,3, does NOT work.  If I rush to the HP 8600: pressing the "fax" button on the unit does not connect the fax call; nor does the HP 8600 give me the option to "Accept" the call, when the phone as been answered.
Does anyone know what buttons to push to get the fax to connect when the phone line is answered at a phone?  Either at the answered phone OR if I can get to the HP 8600 when I hear the fax tone - buttons I can push on the HP 8600 to get it to respond to the fax tones coming in on the line?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I see that you have some concerns when it comes to answering a fax call by accident from another phone.  Pressing the 1.2.3 on the fax is the proper way to remedy the issue when you answer from the fax, however this feature will not work from another phone.
I do realize that this is an inconvenience.  The only resolution would be to contact the sender of the fax and have them resend.
    Thank you for your time.

  • HP OfficeJet 5505 All-In-One wireless printing.

I've got a problem getting a HP OfficeJet 5505 All-In-One printer working with a Time Capsule for wireless printing.. I'm not quite sure how to debug this, so I'm asking for a little help.
If I connect the printer directly to the Mac, It is properly recognized when I go to add it into the printers list, and documents print normally.
Now when connected to the TimeCapsule, It looks to be recognized in the Airport Utility, and when I go to add it into the printers list, I can see it connected to the Time Capsule.. One difference is that I have to manually choose the printer driver rather than it being auto selected..
When I print a document, it looks like it spools up normally, and gets sent to the printer.. However the printer never starts, or prints.
After reading a few posts it looks like there might be some compatibility issue between office jet printers and the Time Capsule/Airport Extreme as I am not the only one with issues.
    Any ideas?

The OfficeJet 5505 uses LIDIL (lightweight imaging device interface language) which depends on the host computer for low level commands. It will not work with the Time Capsule's USB port.
Technically, neither the printer nor the TC is at fault. The printer will only work when connected directly to a computer's USB port. Searching for drivers will be a futile exercise.
Sorry for the bad news. If you want to get a printer on your network, get a network printer.

  • How do i find the email address assigned to my all-in-one wireless printer?

I am trying to set up my so called"all-in-one" (w/o fax?) to wirelessly print from my mobile or other computers connected to my network. I was referred to the eprintcenter.com site. I then read that I needed to set up an account. while doing so, I was asked to give an email address with the password? (you must be joking?) I went back to read that each device has an assigned email address that I could find by going through the device itself wireless menu.... Uhmmmmm?? I have not been able to find it... Nor, any of the other questions?

    Hi IDNTLKHPPRODS,
You can see the email address of your printer on the printer itself. If you tell us the model of your printer, I can point you in the right direction to find that.
For creating an account on eprintcenter.com, you use your email address--the one where YOU receive your email, not the printer's email address. Once you have that account and have added your printer to it, you can customize the email address so it is something easier to remember.
    I hope this helps!

  • Suggestions for all in one wireless printer to work with iMac

I am looking for a new all in one that will work with my iMac & Airport

About a month ago I got an HP Photosmart Premium c410 AIO (print, copy, scan, fax). I don't remember the price, but I think it was about $200.  Wireless setup was easy and it works fine so far.  I also use it in a Wi-Fi (Airport) network with a Windows 7 PC and 2 Win 7 laptops; the HP software for Windows is _much_ more user friendly, versatile and faster than the Mac s/w IMHO.   The software for it on a 2011 27" Intel iMac running SL is more stripped down and slower to connect, but it works OK. I haven't upgraded the OS to Lion yet due to numerous complaints.
The only gripe is that like most current HP printers, it eats cartridges, even the XL ones.  The ePrint function works fine with an iPad (version 1).  Print quality is OK for my uses, i.e.,  letters, photos on plain paper and up to 8.5" X 11" good photo paper).
I also connect to a one-year old HP Photosmart c310 my daughter brought home from college for the summer - seems to be a pretty similar ePrinter, but without the fax capability.  This works as well as the c410 near as I can tell. It probably cost about $120.

  • Looking for all-in-one wireless printer recommendation.

Running iPhone 5, iPad Air, MacBook with Snow Leopard and a PC running XP. Anyone???

    Need more info...
    Primarily for text?  For photos?
Is speed most important or quality?
    Price range???
For photos highly recommend Epson Artisan or its current replacement which may be called the Expression series.  All in one and wireless.   May not be speedy enough for text for you

  • Willton invitations printing issues using HP 8600 Plus All in one

    Hi All,
I really need help using HP8600 to print some Willton invitations ( card stock paper, 8.5 x 5.5 ).
I tried everything to print right these invitations and I feel to fustrated:
    1) I went to priting preferences and set-up to card-stock paper
    2) choosed paper size: statement
    3)advanded settings: picked Print borderless
Everytime I pick these 2 options I get the following message:
"There are one or more conflicting settings.
One of the conflicting setting is:
    * Borderless printing: Print borderless
    *Paper size: statement
*Resolve all conflicts for me automatically
*I will resolve the conflict myself"
So whatever option from these 2 I choose I either can't print or I print with a border and I REALLY WANT THE BRODER to just dissapear. I also played with the paper size and try to choose a different one , but I don't have too many left that will not conflict with the borderless printing.
Please help me before I become a crazy bridezilla

    Hi,
I afraid that borderless printing is not supported on the required media size.
As you may find listed under Paper-handling specifications > Supported paper sizes, only A4, A5, B5, 4 x 8 inches, 6 x 8 inches and U.S. Government are supported for borderless printing:
*These sizes are compatible for borderless printing
