Fax PDF -- Header on faxed pages. Changeable?

When I print, hit the PDF button, and choose Fax PDF it works very nicely. There's a header at the top of the page with date and time and page number. I see where to add my fax number, in System Preferences > Print & Fax > Faxing tab.
Can I do more -- edit the text, rearrange items, delete the whole header?
Thanks to all the smart people who make this lace work.

  • Cannot Fax PDF files (Fax looks &@$##$%)

We are working with a medical group which uses a fax server to distribute about 200 pages a day to various other doctors.
The documents are stored in an electronic medical record as pdf files (made using acrobat).  they are then sent to a fax server, and Microsoft fax is then used to send them to the receiving fax machine, via a main pine fax card.  It seems when letters are saved as TIFF documents are faxed in that fashion, the fax quality is good.  however, when the PDF documents are faxed, the quality is very poor (much worse than standard fax quality, much worse than faxed TIFF)
My client has called the maker of the Electronic medical Record, Microsoft, main pine, and adobe.  they all say the same thing.  If you use PDF's as your document form, you cannot fax without significant lose of quality.
Why would that be? Does anyone have a solution?
(any help or guidance would be appreciated)

Are your Word 2007 documents being saved as .doc or .docx or .pdf (using the Save as PDF add-in)?
I would suggest sending out the final PDF documents as email attachments rather than converting to TIFF for fax.
At least consider a more advance fax system such as Avaya/Nortel CallPilot Fax Messaging.

  • FAX Print and receive half page

we are experienced a problem with receiving fax, sometimes we receive half page, the fax call come from PRI to FAX connected to FXS port.
the following if for the incoming Fax calls
    voice-port 0/0/0
    station-id name FAX-001
    station-id number 046993199
    caller-id enable
    dial-peer voice 2001 pots
    destination-pattern 199
    fax rate disable
    port 0/0/0
Note : The problem was also with ATA 186 , I replaced it with FXS port but still the same.

    Thanks steven;
I have one gateway only , it is connceted to the PSTN by the E1 controller here is the show controller e1 and the FXS ports connected to the same gateway.

  • IR 6570 fax TX report or "confirmation page" comes out with zeros.

Our office has a Image Runner 6570. It works fine, except for our Fax TX Report or confirmation page comes out with no info. THe Job No./ St. Time/ Usage T/ Pages all come out as zeros. The fax goes through to the reciepent, but we would like the cofirmation page to work as intended. We turned off the IR 6570, that didn't affect anything. We switched the Fax TX report seetings from off to error and on, but it still comes out as all zeros.
If anyone has had this issue or knows how to resolve it, a comment would be apreciated.

    Hi CalebR!
Thanks for posting in the Canon Forum! Canon does not provide direct support for imageRUNNER series products, but your dealer will be able to help you! If you don't have a dealer, please call us at 1-800-OKCANON (652-2666) and we will be happy to provide dealers who are in your area.

  • FAX failure! Sending fax results in error every time.

I have been trying to use an Apple USB modem on my iMac (latest version). Every time I attempt to send a word processing document I get a failure message. The modem dials and connects to the remote computer and says it is sending the document but then it disconnects and reschedules another transmission.

Does anyone have an idea as to what is preventing the fax from working?
    Griff

This is a problem on all Macs from what I can tell. I have had a Case open with Apple Support for over 2 months now regarding this issue and they are not helpful at all. I believe it is either a problem with the "efax" open source program that Apple uses or some hardware issue. I have many phone lines here and Apple USB Modem to Apple USB Modem for faxing works fine, but to our Fuji-Xerox machine here; Fax Protocol Error. So clearly in the Apple Utopia faxing is fine, so case closed!
It seems whenever there is a "fax protocol error", the fax has sent successfully, it's just that something happens prior to hang-up that causes this issue.
Here is my work around, which ignores "fax protocol errors". When "efax" (/usr/bin/efax) returns "0", this is success. "1" is something like line engaged, no answer, etc. (normal errors). "3" is "fax protocol error". Therefore as "root" in Terminal I did the following:
    1. "mv /usr/bin/efax /usr/bin/efax.orig"
    2. "vi /usr/bin/efax"
    3. Enter the following (press "i" to insert text, <esc> to stop entering text):
    #!/bin/sh
    /usr/bin/efax.orig $@
    RESULT=$?
    if [ "$RESULT" = "3" ] ; then
    RESULT=0
    fi
    exit $RESULT
    4. Save and quit "vi" (enter ":wq")
    5. "chmod a+rx /usr/bin/efax"
    Good luck!

  • Junk characters in the purchase order fax received from the fax machine

    Dear Experts,
I am facing the following issue.
I am sending the PO form to a fax number from ME22N using the FAX medium. The PO form is designed by sapscript.
I am getting the fax too from the fax machine. But it is not in the format designed by sapscript. I get junk characters printed line by line. For 1 page of PO form, I get around 7 pages printed with the junk characters.
I checked the trace in SOST, it is taking the device type converts OTF to PDF.
I checked the settings in the SCOT transaction. The device type is set as PDF1. I changed various device types but still the same.
The printer I am using is Fuji Xerox - DocuCentre-III C4405
Any idea how to get the form in the right format.

    Dear Sruthi,,
U can done through this by the BADI ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST. IN that there is a Method  PROCESS_ITEM.
Just Implement ur Code inside this and u can change the Texts here.
    IF_PURCHASE_ORDER_ITEM_MM - IF_LONGTEXTS_MM~GET_TEXT
By this u can get the texts and for setting
    IF_LONGTEXTS_MM~SET_TEXT
Hope this can solve ur probs.

  • Repeat Group Header On Each Page not working

    Hi,
I have a report that have 3 subreport, and in the Subreport, there is Group Headers that enabled the option "Repeat Group Header On Each Page". It works fine in the CR10 preview. However, the header won't repeat in the PDF generated by JRC.
    Any Idea?
    Thanks a lot!!

    Hi,
Doesthe JRC engine uses CR10 jars or XI\R2 jars? Can you possibly try it with latest set of Eclipse jars? You can download it from Diamond.
    Thanks

In header for each page it should repeat and should be print the min and maximam number of the columns.
I mean in the header start and end number of the column value for that particular page.

Can you please suggest me how to do.
    Thanks

  • Combining Contents of 2 PDFs into a single page PDF

I need to combine elements of two different PDFs into one, single page PDF.
One PDF is Template of sorts with headers to be edited, the other PDF is a non-ocr scan that includes text and images.
I've found no way to copy and paste on a single page b.t two PDFs. I've tried pasting into an inserted page and then dragging it up or cutting and pasting within the document (with the intention of deleting the unneeded second page) with no luck.
This seems like it should be such a no brainer. Open 1st PDF, Open 2nd PDF, make selection Ctrl C, go to 1st PDF, place cursor where desired, Ctrl V.   But it doesn't work at all in an intuitive way like any other document program where you can cut and paste with ease b/t documents and even b/t programs.
So instead, I've copied the part of the image PDF I want into the original word doc of the template, then created a PDF from that.  However, when I try to tell Acrobat to make the entire document OCR, it tells me it can’t b/c it contains renderable text (the header information, I’m assuming).  If I run the OCR on a PDF containing just the image, it does it no problem.
What is the best way to bring these two documents together in way that results in a single page, completely searchable PDF?

Unfortunately, another $700 software purchase is not in the cards and I can’t wrap my mind around why it should be necessary.  It seems so nonsensical to me that Acrobat has all these advanced functions for editing, combining, making portfolios etc., yet can not perform the simple task of cutting and pasting between two documents.
While Adobe support was putting me on hold, I doodled up some generic sample documents that I could upload here to illustrate the problem. Hopefully, someone can play with these and give me a workable solution.
The first PDF, Original Acme Clip, represents the file that is provided to me by our clipping service. They cut the item out of a magazine, put the customized info into their standard template in whatever word processing program they use, printed it out, pasted the magazine clip to that page and then scanned the hard copy to PDF-as an image only PDF, it is not optimized for optical character recognition and is not searchable.
The second PDF, Final Acme PDF, represents the file that our workflow eventually ends up as-a PDF containing only the info we want, formatted as we want, in which both the headers and clip content are searchable. To get there currently, we print out the Original ACME Clip, type the relevant info into the headers of a Word template that includes our logo and standard footer, print out the Word template page, manually cut out the scanned image from the PDF, and paste it onto the template paper.  The resulting paper is scanned into the Final Acme PDF and OCR is run on the whole thing to make it all searchable.
What we’d like to do is skip all the printing, and manual cutting and pasting. Any and all suggestions for work in Acrobat 9 Pro to do this would be gratefully appreciated!

  • IDCS4 Export to PDF (Header/Footer Screwed Up) in PDF...Possible Solution?

THE PROBLEM (See "Evil footer setup.pdf"):
When you convert a IDCS4 document to a PDF while using a 2-page master, the PDF may be missing the odd or even pages. The page content (silly face) is there, but the header and/or footer is screwed up on either the odd or even pages.  The even pages are mess up in this example.
    THE REASON:
INCS4 does not like a single (header and footer) box to be dragged across both pages.  Whe you do, you get them on one page or the other. Anything in theses header/foot goes asta-la-bye bye. In "Evil footer setup.pdf" both the header and footer boxes were two separate boxes drawn on one side, then dragged across the other page.
THE SOLUTION: (See "Happy footer setup.pdf")
On the 2-page master, set up the even (left pages) first with all of the header and footer information (include bleeds). If your using colored boxes for the header and foot area, put them on the bottom layer and put all text and page numbers on a new layer above. In the "Happy footer setup" example, the even (left) page header is identified by light cyan and the footer is identified by light magenta. Once the left side is done, group it, dup it and move it to the odd page (right side). The header on the odd (right) pages is now dark cyan while the footer is dark magenta.  Once boths sides are set up, overlap each header and footer onto the opposite page by 1/8 of an inch to cover any gaps (seen in the happy example). This is assuming the header on both sides is the same color.
The "Sample Master Pages.pdf" (TOP) shows a single box header and footer dragged across 2 pages. (BOTTOM) shows a single box header and footer on each individual page.  Remember the layers. Compare the sample to Happy and Evil and you'll get the idea.
    Hope this helps someone.

This MAY be solved by the 6.0.4 update. See the release notes for item #2299929.

  • How can i add a header to each page of my form

    Hi
Iam creating a form - it was based on one of the templates, however I would like to add a header to the top of each page (it currently only has it on the first page). Can someone please help?
    Many thanks
    Shev

There isn't a direct way to do this for PDF forms (web forms have the header on every page). For PDF you would have to copy a text/image item at the top of each page yourself.

  • AcroPDF in VB6 - Find text in PDF and print that page.

Okay, so I'm certain that this question has been asked and answered a hundred times, but for some reason my googling skills are seriously failing me today...
I have a legacy application built in VB6 that generates PDF documents of a particular form letter.  Each PDF contains all of the form letters that were printed on that particular day.  I actually have it all working rather decently, but something came up a little while ago that set me on a new programming obsession.  I want to enable the following functionality from my application:
The user provides a text string that should be unique among all pages of all PDF's (customer ID).
The application then finds the PDF that contains that text string and identifies which page number contains that text string.
Finally, send only that page to the printer.
Currently I can easily create, display and print the PDF from my application.  While the creation of the document is done through a third-party reporting system, all display and printing functions are basically handled using AcroPDF.dll.  Going through the available properties and methods for an AcroPDF object, I see that I can tell it to print only specified pages, which gives me the last part of my requirements, and I've got the user input part down pat.  I'm just totally stumped at finding a solution for "step 2".
Any suggestions, ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated.  I'm kinda tired of banging my head against a wall.  Thank you for your time.

If you are only using Adobe Reader, then that feature isn't available.
If you have Adobe Acrobat, then you have a few options.

  • Can you merge 2 single-page PDFs into 1 single-page PDF?

I'm not having luck adding text with line breaks to a pdf, as apparently the Text Box tool does not like line breaks. So I'm wondering if I can take a pdf with the text I want, which is a full paragraph and merge into another pdf of my company letterhead. (I cannot recreate the letterhead as I paid a company to make it long ago. Nor do I have the tools or expertise to do so.) So if I strategically place the text I want in the first pdf in such a way as to not overlap the graphics on my letterhead, can I merge two pdfs into a single page where the data on the pdfs overlaps each other?

    Hi WillCD,
Yes It is possible to copy that paragraph by selecting text and then paste that paragraph to your company letter head pdf.
and no you can't merge two pdfs in such a way that it overlaps the data of resultant pdf.
Does that help? Please let me know if i have misinterpreted your issue or if you need any further assistance.
    Regards,
    Rahul
