Fax Set Up

Hello!
I am currently running a single BT phone line (with  BT Answer Machine) and BT broadband connection through an ADSL filter. How do I add a fax option on my phone line?

If you want the fax machine to answer when another fax calls you then you will need a fax switch.
This allows a phone and a fax machine to share the same phone line,

Can not set the time and date on Officejet 4620 when faxing.  There are no setup options available.  The log always shows "Jan 00  00:00 AM".

The time and date setting should be under the setup tools or fax setting in the printer control panel.1. Click the wrench icon on the control panel of the printer.
    2. Scroll to Tools.
    3. Scroll to Time and date.

    Hello rogergh02.
To connect the unit for faxing, please ensure that the phone cord that is coming from your wall or land line jack is connected into the 'L' jack on the back of the printer.  Once this has been done, try to send or receive a fax.
Additional information can be found in the On-Screen Manual for the printer, which should be installed on your computer.

  • Error in fax set up - connected to wrong port, although i'm not

    Hi
I'm not a technical whizz kid...
Trying to set up my all in one to send faxes (I only need to be able to send the odd fax).
    On the test I'm getting:
    Fax hardward test PASS
Fax connected to active telephone wall jack PASS
Phone cord connected to correct port on fax FAIL.
Below that is says that the phone cord is connected to 2-ext on the bank of my device and that i should change it to 1-Line.  As I said, I'm not whizz kid, but it is defintiely connected to 1-Line.  I even tried switching them and I got fail on point 2, so I put it back in 1-Line but it's still not working.
I'm struggling to find any help with this particular error.
    thanks

    Hi @MigGilbert,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!  I see you would like to set up the Fax feature on your HP Officejet 8610, everything passes when you run the test except the correct port connection.
I would like you to start troubleshooting here: Cannot Send or Receive Faxes
Please let me know the outcome, are you now able to send a Fax?
I hope to hear from you soon.

  • FAX - Setting up.

Made numerous searches but cannot find the answer. How do I set up my alu mac to send/receive/print faxes please.

In system preferences 'Print and Fax' there is no tab for faxing
What OS are you running, I thought you had a G5 with 10.4, least that's what your profile says and it is not uncommon for people to post where ever.
In about this mac 'modems' it says no information found.
You may not have one. The Core 2 duos did not ship with one. Some G5's don't come with a modem either. I'd say you don't have one.
Is it possible to send faxes from the intel mac?
I don't know if you have Tiger or Leopard, but you can send a fax according to this this method for 10.5, though I haven't tried it.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8680.html
If you have Tiger, then that may not be much help and my guess is you'll need to get yourself an external modem.

  • ASKING ME MY PROXY ADDRESS ??? WHERE DO I FIND THIS ???? FOR E-PRINT FAX SET-UP !!!

I HAVE PHOTOSMART 6510 PRINTER,, TRYING TO HOOK UP E-PRINT, ASKING ME FOR PROXY ADDRESS ???? WHAT AND WHERE IS MY PROXY ADDRESS  ??? ... PLEASE HELP W/E-PRINT FAX  SETUP FOR MY MAC !!!!  **** HELP ***!!!!  !!!!

    Hello,
The first thing I would do is follow step six in this document to set a static IP: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02817031&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&product=4023246&tmp...
When it askes for DNS information, enter in Google's DNS. Preferred DNS = 8.8.8.8 Alt DNS = 8.8.4.4
While you are in the printers EWS, check the proxy settings and make sure that every box is completely blank.  DO NOT put any information into the proxy page unless you are behind a corporate firewall and have gotten the information form your IT department.
If that does not help, if you could provide me with the following information it would help me out. First, who is your ISP( Internet Service Provider, i.e. Comcast, AT&T, Verizon, ect.)? Second, who is the maker of your router? Lastly, what is the model number and firmware version of your router?

  • SapScript Fax confusion ( NACE FAX setting versus OTF_CONVERT_FAX)

    Hi Guys,
If we go to NACE transaction, we select Medium as 2 for Fax. But how will it know at what number to Fax ? Its not same fax number but different numbers based on vendor...
On some posts people suggested to use CONVERT_OTF_FAX. I mean if SAP has already provided FAX option in output detremination then why to use this funtcion module ?
I mean when do we use function module and wheh do we use custom setting ?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    Tushar.

    Hello Tushar,
The function CONVERT_OTF_AND_FAX is used to convert OTF format (Output Text Format) generated by SAPscript and FAX the same based on import parameters FAXOPTIONS. From NACE transaction, if you go to the Processing routine screen of particular output type and application, you will get the standard output medium, driver program etc. If Fax medium is available, you can use the same.
As an example, for Inbound Delivery Output type CHKL, I can see only print medium (4.6C) in the standard. If you want to define an fax medium here, a driver program has to be created by customizing the print driver program RTCHECKL with the help of above function.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Venu

  • How To Get Internal Modem Set Up in the Fax List - G4 AGP

Recently installed OS 10.4.8 on my friend's upgraded G4 AGP (Sawtooth). Tried to set up his Mac's internal modem for faxing (no internet connection, he has cable modem for that). Got the fax set up to receive without problem. Tested it and it acknowledges incoming calls and will pick up and log the fax.
The problem is in setting up to send a fax. Although the internal modem shows up in the Apple Profiler and works to receive faxes, it just won't show up in the Fax List under the Printer Setup Utility and therefore isn't selectable under PDF on the Print window to allow sending a fax.
I've searched Mac Help in vain. The set up of modems isn't really addressed. What am I missing? On my MDD G4, once I had the modem installed and set up to receive, it just showed up in the Fax List. I didn't have to do anything else.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Carl B.

So, when you go in to System Preferences > Print & Fax > Set Up fax Modem ..., Internal Modem is NOT showing up in Fax List?
Does Internal Modem.app exist in /Users/{shortUserName}/Library/Printers/?

  • How do you set up the stupid USB modem to send faxes?

Just bought the stupid USB modem because my new G5 is so new and improved that it doesn't have a modem like my old G4. Naturally I was so pleased to spend extra money that I hastened to order a brand new USB modem from Apple. Aren't they smart? Eliminate minor product features and then sell them separately to gullible users.
Well Apple's even smarter than I thought, because not only did they not include the modem on the new G5, the 'manual' doesn't actually tell you how to use it to send faxes. That guarantees you'll go to their website and maybe even buy more stuff.
So, has anybody out there actually figured out how to make an Apple product work in spite of itself, or do I have to go to my local business store and buy a fax machine?
    PowerBook G5   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Yes, I did what the manual said
When I phone my fax line, I hear the fax squeal produced by the Mac, so I could get incoming faxes, but the modem isn't recognized as a printer so I can't send out faxes. Manual explains how to dial out, but seems to be talking about how to connnect to the Internet with a dial-up modem.
Since you don't say what specific problem you are
    having,
Have you gone to System Preferences > Print & Faxing
Faxing> Set Up Fax Modem yet?
Have you looked at "Mac OS Help" type Fax in search
box - lots of info there.
    Hope this helps

  • Fax: HP Officejet 8600 Plus (all in one wireless printer) OS: windows 7 64bit DSL Router/Modem

this is my second Wireless printer from HP. Main problem and only problem is that every time my phone rings the fax answers which is very annoying, hearing the tone while trying to answer the phone.  I followed directions exactly.  Have the fax set to answer on 6th ring...have auto answer set to off....yet it continuously answers when the phone rings.  I've tried turning the printer off and it still happens...even when the PC and Printer are off it happens.
    I am on a DSL line...share line with phone...have voice mail....have a home network.....
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
Considering the fact taht you have tried turning the printer off and it still happens, I find it hard to believe it is the printer.. the fax should be turned off as any other functionality of the device.
Please try unplugging the phone line from the 1LINE port of the fax and try dialing to your phone line.. Can you hear any fax tone then?
If so, I affraid it is surely not coming from the HP device...
If you can see any change, replug the printer.. make sure you connect the cable into 1LINE and not into any other port by mistake...
Also make sure you connect the phone cable using an ADSL micro-filter.. make sure the printer connected into the Phone port of the filter and not into the ADSL port by mistake.
Please let me know of any change,
    Shlomi

  • T.37 onramp fax sometimes sends empty attachment

We have T.37 onramp fax set up with incoming calls arriving on a T1 line into a Cisco 2811, and SMTP emails with fax attachments going out to our custom mailserver.  We have many of these systems in the field.  Most of the time onramp faxes work fine, but we sometimes see the 2811 sending an empty attachment to the mailserver.  We have captured the incoming audio and decoded the fax using the Asterisk PBX utilities, with no errors at all.
What could cause a 2811 to send an empty fax attachment even though the incoming fax is good?

Note that our custom mailserver rejects these empty fax attachments because we want the sending fax machine to see a failure in this case.  (If the mailserver were to accept the empty attachment, then the sender would see success but the receiver would receive no fax.)
The 2811 is running IOS 12.4(25d) and non-default DSP software 26.4.501 (updated to fix a problem with the DIS tones).  But we've been seeing this problem since 12.4(6)T7 with no DSP firmware patch.
We've enabled all the relevant fax debug logs we can find, and here's the debug output for a 'zero-page fax' call from the point where the T1 connection is established, down to the point where the empty attachment is sent and the mailserver rejects it (names and numbers changed as before):

Still not solved.  Cisco support suggested adding the config command 'mta send success-fax-only' which is supposed to prevent sending empty emails or partial faxes, however there's a bug that means that has no effect IOS 12.4.  We're looking at upgrading to 15.1(4)M8 which has the fix, but that will take some time.
Your problem sounds slightly different.  See if you can get a network capture of the SMTP conversation with the target mailserver, to see if something's going wrong there.

  • Fax picks up fax AND voice calls

I thought when you have an external modem fax set up, the computer is supposed to tell if it's a voice call or a fax call. For some reason, the fax keeps picking up on ALL calls on the first ring (or any ring # I set it for) and no voice calls are getting past the fax now. Is there anything I can change to fix this?
I have a cable VOIP phone system, could this be interfering? I would assume that would work even more stably though, since it's all digital.
    I'm at a loss.

I don't think there is any way for your computer to know it's NOT a fax call..... until after it's been answered...

  • FAX button not working on HP Connect site for HP Officejet All-in-One 4630

I can send a fax using the printer, but cannot send a fax from the computer using the HP Connect page. It was working before. I can use fax set up wizard, manage fax settings but not send a fax button. It stopped working all of a sudden. EHW

    Hi EHW,
Welcome back to the HP Support Forums! I see you are able to send a fax from the front panel of your HP Officejet 4630, but when you attempt to use the HP Printer Assistant to send a fax the fax option is now greyed out.
I would first like you to make sure the printer's Firmware is up to date, please click on the link below to get started:
HP Officejet 4630 e-All-in-One Printer series Firmware Update
Once you have updated the Firmware, try and open up the HP Printer Assistant, are you now able to choose the Fax option?
If not, continue here and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers.
Are you able to fax from the HP Printer Assistant, if you still have problems leave me with the following information:
    1. What is your current Operating system, Windows or Mac and which version?
    2. How is the printer connected, USB or Wireless?
    3. Have you made any changes or updates to the computer?
Please let me know the results, I will watch for your reply.
    Thanks,
    HevnLgh

Welcome to the forums @BakerM22 ,
I read about the fax set up issues you're having with setting up your Officejet J6410, as the fax connection is not recognizing that the fax line is plugged in to Line 1. Try out the steps below, and also check your inbox here for a private message I have sent you with reset instructions you can also try.
