Fax won't dial out

Fax on my eMac won't dial out. The dial tone keeps sounding till the operator requests that I hang up & try the call again

One other thought...
Is that Interface dragged to the top of Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON?
The Interface that connects to the Internet, needs to be drug to the top of System Preferences>Network>Show:>Network Port Configurations and checked ON.
And drag Internal Modem to the bottom.

  • Phone won't dial out. Old phone received missed calls yesterday instead of my new phone.

Current phone suddenly won't dial out. Yesterday my old phone (which I use for WiFi only and which has not been activated for about 1 year) started receiving calls instead of my current phone. I was not around to answer them, but they only registered as missed calls on my old phone.
Today I tried making a call and my current phone won't dial out--trying to dial any number just gives me silence and then it disconnects after 30 seconds or so. I tried dialing out on the old phone, but it gives me a roaming message and wants me to either buy a calling PIN or call collect to dial out. On my current phone I can still use data/internet fine and I think texting still works (tested by texting my own number and I received the text).
I've tried powering off the old phone for a while and then restarting the new phone, but it didn't help... I can't call verizon since I can't dial out and its saturday night so it looks like their chat is offline..
How can I fix this? Help is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately *611 does not work -- like all numbers I try to dial, it goes to the "dialing" screen then does nothing for about 30 seconds, then it disconnects.
*228 Brings up a message box that says "a verizon wireless sim card has activated your service and updated your phone's roaming capabilities. Your phone number is [my number]" The problem is not fixed however.
I should also clarify that I have been using my old phone for wifi/mp3 playing just fine for the past 1 year without experiencing this problem ever before. My current/newer phone has been working fine right next to it all that time. I did just pull my old SIM card out of my old phone just now in case that might help (should have done that a long time ago). I also removed the battery. That was several hours ago, still having the problem after rebooting the new phone and testing many times.
Using another person's phone I have now verified that I can't make or receive any calls on my new phone, but I can send and receive text messages as well as use mobile data/internet. The newer phone is an LG G2 and the old phone is a Galaxy Nexus if that matters.
Thanks for the help so far

  • PAP2T Have dialtone but won't dial out.

I have a PAP2T working into a WAG54G v3, after a 3 hour power outage, the PAP2T didn't come back on, only the Power LED and Ethernet LED. Reconfiguring it to phone2, got 3rd LED on and dialtone but after dialling, silence until the time-out tones. When ringing in, the phone rings, but picking up the handset it still keeps ringing. And yes I tried another phone. Using the X-Lite soft phone, with the same parameters, everything works OK, which means the internet and ISP is working. It seems there is a fault in the PAP2T, so I updated the firmware from 3.1.9(LSc) to 5.1.6(LS) but it still made no difference. Sam

After getting a replacement PAP2T, all is fixed. Thank you Sam

  • LRT224 manual vpn won't dial out

Hi, i have my LRT224 setup, i have ISP1 on wan1(static ip ethernet-no router) ISP2 on wan2 (LTE via another router)
everything is working perfect, except for one thing
I cant dial into my VPN (privateinternetacess.com) manually via my computers, i have tried IPSec, PPTP, L2TP all fail to connect, if i remove the LRT224 and connect my my ISP1 or my router on ISP2 then i connect each time.
is there a setting i am missing, VPN passthrough is enabled on all VPN types if that makes a difference.

Oh that's good. Then don't bother because you've already isolated it to the firewall.

  • Fax won't get a dial-tone

Printing to the fax used to work fine. I have sent many faxes. I'm not sure if 10.5.6 broke it or what but the fax won't even get a dial tone now. I have tried two different phone cables and the phone line works, I have a splitter on it and I can hear the dial tone when using the handset. I just downloaded the PageSender Fax software and it doesn't get a dial tone either. I have deleted and re-added the fax in the Printer & Fax system preferences but that didn't help.
I tried setting the preference for not waiting for a dial tone but that doesn't work either.
Are there known problems with the fax modem on 10.5.6?
    Any ideas?

  • Problem with dial out

I have a SPA2002 adapter which I use with an asterisk server. On the asterisk I have configured call forwarding that can be enabled by dialing *21*number#. The problem is that the linksys adapter won't let me dial *21, it immediately gives a busy tone, I guess because it tries to process it as a service itself. How can I configure the adapter to dial out with *21*? I have tried to alter different parameters of the adapter configuration, but without luck.

You're mixing up two things.. there's the asterisk as in one of the button on your phone, and then there's the asterisk as in your PBX.
hwittenb was refering to the button on the phone.. your phone dialplan needs to allow dialling stuff like "*21*" - so if you can post the dialplan on your phone, we can see if it indeed allows that number to be dialled. I'm guessing it doesn't since the call never gets to your PBX.
There are two essential pieces to tracking down a problem with your VoIP equipment:
The configuration of every device involved
    SIP protocol traces
And don't forget: there's no such thing as giving too much information when describing a problem.

  • Mobile site - can I have a web button to dial out

If a user has a mobile phone and browses the site - EG looking for a plumber....
Lets say this site says I am a plumber - here's my number......
Can we develop the page so that the user fat fingers the number and it dials out for them?
    Thanks

Keep in mind that some smart phones will terminate the internet connection when the phone is dialing out.
If phone features are disabled, it won't do anything.

  • UC520 FXS ports will not dial out

Not sure what is happening on this one.  UC520 latest sw pack has decided that the onboard FXS ports will no longer dial out.  Dialing inturnal extensions is fine both ways.  DID's incoming to those FXS ports also work.  Dialing access code 9 for the PRI simply no go.  I have rebooted the UC520 I have even changed the FXS seetings from Fax to Common area and back again seeing if that would clear up any bugs in the config, but still no luck.
So simply put FXS ports on UC520 will no longer allow outbound calls.
    Thoughts!

  • My Computer Keeps Dialing Out!

Not sure why, but whenever I connect my phone line to my mac, it keeps trying to dial out. I'm pretty sure this is a fax related issue. Earlier today I tried to see if I could send a fax. I tried faxing to myself just to see if I could hear a tone. Now it keeps trying to send something.
I can't seem to find any sort of software or system preference that allows me to check for outgoing faxes.
    Any thoughts?
    Cheers.

Oooo...I remember this problem! There's a work around, but you'll need to keep in mind that you will always have to manually connect/disconnect (but not dial), when you want to use your modem. The work around sometimes causes other annoyances (the Accounts prefpane expects your internet connection to be active). The cause: various system software that desires an internet connection.
    OK, here's the work around:
    1) Go to the Network Prefpane under System Preferences
    2) Make sure Internal Modem is selected from the "Show:" pull-down menu.
    3) Make sure the TCP/IP tab is selected.
    4) Click the "PPP Options" button.
    5) Uncheck the first option "Connect automatically when needed".
    6) Click the OK button.
    7) Click the "Apply now" button.
    8) You're done.

  • Pixma 410 will not fax or scan when out of black ink?

I ran out of black ink.  I just wanted to fax and or scan something and it won't let me past the "check black ink message"Is it not possible to scan or fax if you run out of ink?

Hello. The unit would not be able to send faxes while an ink cartridge is empty.  This is because fax reports or fax error reports would not be able to be printed. To scan while a cartridge is empty, hold down the STOP button for about 5-7 seconds.  This should temporarily clear the empty warning and allow you to scan. This didn't answer your question or issue? • MBP won't log out of user account

    Hello,-
My MBP won't log out of my user account.  It just sits at a white screen with the apple logo.  I have to reboot it (several times) to get back
    to my user accounts.
I have done a disk repair and it worked fine for 2 days then back to issue.
    Any suggestions?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostic  test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything suggested in this comment.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as some other aspects of the configuration that may be related to the problem.
Don’t be alarmed by the seeming complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out. Here's a brief summary: In each of two steps, you copy a line of text from this web page into a window in another application. You wait about a minute. Then you paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is copy; paste; paste again. That's all there is to it. Details follow.
While investigating the problem, you may have started the computer in "safe" mode. If possible, these steps should be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing. If you can only boot in safe mode, you can still use this procedure, but not all of it will work. Be sure to mention that in your reply, if you haven't already done so.
Below are instructions to enter UNIX shell commands. The commands are safe and do nothing but produce human-readable output, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you question the safety of the procedure suggested here — which you should — search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects. I am not asking you to trust me. If you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them.
The commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. Step 1 should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    PB=/usr/libexec/PlistBuddy; PR () { [[ "$o" ]] && printf '\n%s:\n\n%s\n\n' "$1" "$o"; }; PF () { o=$($PB -c Print "$2" | awk -F'= ' \/$3'/{print $2}'); PR "$1"; }; { o=$(( $(vm_stat | awk '/Pageo/{sub("\\.",""); print $2}')/256 )); [[ $o -gt 1024 ]] && printf "\nPageouts: %s MiB\n\n" $o; o=$(kextstat -kl | grep -v com\\.apple | cut -c53- | cut -d\< -f1); PR "Loaded extrinsic kernel extensions"; o=$(launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)|\.[0-9]+$/{print $3}'); PR "Loaded extrinsic user agents"; o=$(launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES); PR "Inserted libraries"; o=$(crontab -l); PR "User cron tasks"; o=$(cat /e*/lau*); PR "Global launchd configuration"; o=$(cat ~/.lau*); PR "Per-user launchd configuration"; PF "Global login items" /L*/P*/loginw* Path; PF "Per-user login items" L*/P*/*loginit* Name; PF "Safari extensions" L*/Saf*/*/E*.plist Bundle | sed 's/\..*$//;s/-[1-9]$//'; o=$(find ~ $TMPDIR.. \( -flags +sappnd,schg,uappnd,uchg -o ! -user $UID -o ! -perm -600 \) | wc -l); [[ $o -eq 0 ]] || printf "\nRestricted user files: %s\n\n" $o; cd; o=$(find -L /S*/L*/E* {,/}L*/{A*d,Compon,Ex,In,Keyb,Mail/Bu,P*P,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo}* -type d -name Contents -prune | while read d; do ID=$($PB -c 'Print :CFBundleIdentifier' "$d/Info.plist"); ID=${ID:-No bundle ID}; egrep -qv "^com\.apple\.[^x]|Accusys|ArcMSR|ATTO|HDPro|HighPoint|driver\.stex|hp-fax|JMicron|microsoft\.MDI|print|SoftRAID" <<< $ID && printf '%s\n\t(%s)\n' "${d%/Contents}" "$ID"; done); PR "Extrinsic loadable bundles"; o=$(find /u*/{,*/}lib -type f -exec sh -c 'file -b "$1" | grep -qw shared && ! codesign -v "$1"' {} {} \; -print); PR "Unsigned shared libraries"; for d in {,/}L*/{La,Priv,Sta}* L*/Fonts; do o=$(ls -A "$d"); PR "$d"; done; } 2> /dev/null | pbcopy; echo $'\nStep 1 done'
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
The command may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "Step 1 done" to appear below what you entered. The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
Remember that you must be logged in as an administrator for this step. Do as in Step 1 with this line:
    PR () { [[ "$o" ]] && printf '\n%s:\n\n%s\n\n' "$1" "$o"; }; { o=$(sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|calendarse|cups|dove|isc|ntp|post[fg]|x)/{print $3}'); PR "Loaded extrinsic daemons"; o=$(sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook); PR "Login hook"; o=$(sudo crontab -l); PR "Root cron tasks"; o=$(syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'error|GPU |hfs: Ru|I/O e|find tok|n Cause: -|NVDA\(|pagin|timed? ?o' | tail -n25 | awk '/:/{$4=""; print}'); PR "Log check"; } 2> /dev/null | pbcopy; echo $'\nStep 2 done'
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
    You can then quit Terminal.
To prevent confusion, I'll repeat: When you type your password in the Terminal window, you won't see what you're typing.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, set one before taking Step 2. If that’s not possible, skip the step.
Important: If any personal information, such as your name or email address, appears in the output of these commands, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
Remember, Steps 1 and 2 are all copy-and-paste — type only your password. Also remember to post the output.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 not able to forward from extension (dial out)

    Dear all,
I'm having a problem at a customer where i'm not able to forward calls externally from the Unity (that's a wish too).
Basically here is the request for which I'm having an issue:
    - I'm making a menu with a number XXX (CTI Port) with a System Call Handler
    - Under that menu i've 3 choices which points to 3 internal numbers (YY1, YY2, YY3) (CTI Ports).
    - All the CTI Ports are forwarded to international numbers which are the final destination
So the flow is the following:
    NOT Working
    - XXX --> Choice 1 --> YY1 --> Forwaded all to 000countrycode
    Working
    - XXX --> Choice 1 --> YY1 --> Forwarded all to 444 (internal number)
The strange thing is that I tested everything when I was on site by calling internally XXX from an internal number and it was able to forward all my call to the international number ...
If anyone have a clue about what I can do, I'll appreciate a lot ...
    Thanks in advance
    C.

    Hi Taranjit,
The rules are not made to enable unity to dial out, my goal was to permit only internal calls, but in this specific case, the internal number, is a CTI Port forwarded all to the external international number...
I tried the Unity connection system handler from a internal phone and it was working perfectly, but not if the call is coming from outside apparently.
    Kind regards
    Christophe
