Faxes can be sent by one user, not another

I haven't used the internal modem in my PowerBook for faxing until now, so I don't know if this problem is new in Leopard...
I have a dedicated phone line connected to the modem. I can use it to dial up a client's modem with no problem. I can receive faxes (saved to the Shared Faxes folder). I can send faxes from two of the accounts (one that's an admin, one that's a normal user), but I can't fax from my own account (a normal user).
Any ideas?

It will depend on how you are trying to send it.  How are you sending it?

  • How can I migrate from one user to another within the same computer?

    My main user account in my desktop is becoming buggy after to many migrations from different computers and long time usage. I would like to migrate from one user to another user within the same computer to see if this improves my current problems.
    How can I do it in a reasonably safe and quick way?
    Thank you very much, cheers, Rui
    iMAC, OS 10.6.8... and yes, I love Snow Leopard light and handy... and all my programs work on it...

    Move small groups of files to the /Users/Shared/ folder or another location and see if the problems disappear. Moving everything to a new user account will in all probability transfer the problems.

  • Photo Booth crashes for one user, not another.

    Just upgraded to Lion, 10.7.1. On a 2007 iMac, Photo Booth works fine with one user. But switch to another account and it crashes every time after asking to create a new photo library. Any suggestions?

    From What I've found.. it seems 3ivx or Perian could cause this problem. A friend had this issue and deleted 3ivx and it fixed his crashes. Alternatively, some folks are reporting that turning off 32-bit mode (Get Info) for Photobooth has also fixed, although this was already turned off in my friend's case. Or if you have iGlasses installed.

  • Classic freezes for one user, not another

    Hello,
    For a couple of years, an older iMac in our office has been running Classic just fine with Quicktime version 5.0.5, even though we always got the warning that we should use 6.03. We turned the warning off, and Word & Excel both run fine in the Classic environment.
    Recently I set up a new user on this same computer, and she is gettng the usual warning when Classic starts up about using 6.0.3. She ignores it and continues on, but the problem is all OS 9 apps lock up for her. They open, but then you can't do anything in them, and we have to force quit Classic.
    This makes absolutely no sense to me. I can log in as the original user and that user can still use the Classic apps just fine without freezing. Change over to the new user, and everything locks up! It's the same computer, same apps, same system folder. What could the problem possibly be?
    Seems QT 6.0 is no longer available, so apparently we are stuck with the 5.0.5 that we have. Any ideas how to fix this?
    tia

    Thanks for the offer, but I have that. Unfortunately it's an updater so it only works if you already have 6.x.
    Since 6.0 is not available to download, does anyone know if it's perhaps part of an OS update that maybe I could get my hands on it that way?

  • Flash running for one user not another

    I recently upgraded to Windows Explorer 7. I am running
    Windows XP and I have the computer set up for two users, me and my
    wife. After installing Explorer 7 my wife's account can no longer
    run flash content even though I can from my account. I have
    downloaded the flash uninstaller, uninstalled and re-installed
    Flash 9.0.47.0. I've checked the version on the machine and it
    matches the version shown on the Adobe site. Everything runs fine
    when logged on from my account but when my wife hits a web page
    with flash content she gets a message similar to "you need to
    update your version of flash player on your computer". Can anyone
    help with this?

    Found it on another web page with a link back to the Adobe
    site. Posting here in case it will help others:

  • My kids have somehow deleted lots of my apps.  can i move apps from one user to another?

    my kids have deleted alot of my apps from my account.  Is there a way to transfer apps from one user to another?

    You can export albums as a new library, just like you exported your projects. Then merge the albums into your library on your other computer.
    When you export a selection of albums a a new library, Aperture will export and include the originating projects as well, so the exported library needs to be merged into the destination library, not "added", otherwise you will have duplicates.
    For example: Exporting a project with two albums:

  • How can I move my iPad's iTunes backup from one user to another?

    Is it possible to move my iPad's iTunes backup from one user to another, so as to change which user the iPad is syncing to without deleting any app data? Currently the iPad is synced to one user on my iMac, and I would like to transfer it so that it will sync with a different user on the same iMac (using iTunes, of course). I'd like to replace content from the old user's iTunes library with my user (eg. music, movies), but I don't want to loose app data in the process if I can avoid it.
    I have tried to use the pathway /Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup but my iMac doesn't seem to have a MoblieSync folder. I wouldn't know what to do with the backup anyway though.
    Can anyone help me or is this request too complicated, difficult, or impossible? Thanks for your help!

    The Apple Document covers this. See the footnotes of my google docs
    I've done this, it is easy, but takes time and patience.
    On the existing mac with OSX and Configurator:
    ========================================
    - run disk utility and verify your disks are ok, a must
    - make note of the user logged in when using configurator  such as "bob"
    - connect a new or newly reformatted USB formatted for Apple
    - run time machine and backup to the USB
    - Take the mac off the network,
    - Buy a new mac
    - setup the mac with a new logon account like Paul or  "bob2"   do not use BOB !!
    - finish the new purchase setup, get to your desktop
    - now run the migraiton assistant  moving bob from the USB to the new mac
    - reboot, logon as bob, launch configurator and connect just one ipad.  Test

    Using multiple desktops with a 4 finger swipe on a Mac Book Pro running Lion- is there a way that I can allow Safari open on several but not all??  Looks like I can set it for one but not others.  All, one, or nothing

    Hey Eric,
    Thanks for taking the time. Unfortunately no that does not solve it. Same as swipe it will get me there and it will show separate programs spaced out. The issue I am having is that all my open word files are bunched up in a pile on top of each other. I can see the edges of each one but I want them to be separated from each other enough that I can visually identify what file is what.
    Again, thanks for trying, it is appreciated.

  • I can't import a table contains BLOB column  from one user to another user.

    1) I create two user both have connect role,and each has its own tablespace, DDL:
    create user d2zd identified by d2zd default tablespace d2zd quota unlimited on d2zd account unlock;
    grant connect to d2zd;
    create user d3zd identified by d3zd default tablespace d3zd quota unlimited on d3zd account unlock;
    grant connect to d3zd;
    2)Then enter oracle as d2zd and create a table contains BLOB column and insert data to the table.
    3) export d2zd as follow:
    exp d2zd/d2zd file=d2zd.dmp
    4) import to d3zd as follow:
    imp d3zd/d3zd fromuser=d2zd touser=d3zd file=d2zd.dmp
    the question is the table with BOLB colum can't be import,
    it says:have no privilege on tablespace d2zd.
    How can I import a table contains BLOB column from one user to another user?

    Hi - the reason for as our friend already told ist that a blob can be stored outside of the table segment, in another Tablespace, This is for performance reason.
    Sou you would need to have Quota on two tablespaces.
    the one which holds the table segment the other which holds the blob(segment).

    You really are not getting this.
    "I guess I am still completely shocked that as a parent we can't download something for everyone to use."
    Why do you continue to think this although we keep telling you that this is not the case.
    You do NOT have to purchase anything twice.  You can share the music with as many ipods as you like in your household.
    The ipods are designed to sync with your computer regularly.  You should have been syncing these other ipods with your computer all along, thus transferring the purchases to your computer where that music can be synced to as many ipods as you like.
    Take on of the ipods with the music in it.  Open itunes on your computer.  Plug in the ipod.  Do not sync.  Click File>Transfer Purchases  This will transfer the purchases from the ipod to the computer.  Make sure that you have authorized your account on the computer:  here are directions for that. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1420
    Unplug the ipod.
    Plug in the other ipod with purchased music.  Do not sync.  Click File>Transfer Purchases  This will transfer purchases from the ipod to the computer.
    You can now plug in any of the ipods, select what you want to sync and sync.
    Have a look at the manual for the ipod.  http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_touch_iOS4_User_Guide.pdf

  • How many tables can be created under one user's account?

    Hi everyone,
    I am a newer, I was wondering how many tables can be created under one user's account? Is there a number of tables limitation for the whole system?
    Thanks
    Jun Chen

    The answer is that Oracle imposes no limit on the number of tables that can be created in a single schema. Whatever limits exist are imposed by the hardware and kernel resource limits of a given configuration.
