  • How to fax from mac?

How to fax from Mac? I have Epson Artisan 810 All in one (Print, fax, scan and copy)

Generally speaking all such features are now integrated in OS X's Print dialog.
File > Print, choose your printer and select "Send Fax" from the dropdown menu:
Fill in the fax number and click Add to add it to the destination list:
... then click Print and your print / fax will dial the phone and send the fax.

  • Built-In Fax from Mac?

Are there any built in tools for faxing?
I have an HP All in One device but in some cases it would be much more convenient to fax-from-my mac.

  • Unable to fax from Mac OS X 10.6 but otherwise C7280 works fine

    Dear HP,
I have a C7280 connected to our LAN via RJ45 and to a phone line using the provided cord. It works fine as a stand alone fax to send and receive faxes. However, when I try to fax from my Mac (OS 10.6.8) with the most current drivers, it doesn't connect to the telephone line and only prints a couple of garbled pages on the printer. When I run a fax test from the front panel it passes all tests. I can't think of anything else to try so I am hoping you have a solution.

Hello JohnF377, and welcome to the HP Forums.

  • Faxing from MAC to Samsung CLX-3175

    Hi All,
I'm a brand new convert to MACs so please be gentle! Have just spent the last few days setting up my new MacBook Pro 13". One issue I have at present is not being able to send a document on my MAC to my multifunction Samsung printer which has a built-in fax.
On my Windows laptop, there was a piece of software called Smarthru. This allowed you to scan and fax. You could also select print from any application and select the installed Samsung Fax Printer. However Smarthru isn't available for the MAC and I can't get the MAC to recognise the printer as a fax as well as printer and scanner.
Am I missing something obvious here or is there no way to send a document on the MAC to the printer for faxing? Obviously I could print the document out and then fax it direct from the printer but this is a waste of print toner, paper and time!!
    Many thanks for any advice.

It depends on your Samsung's driver working fully so that the Mac recognizes it as a fax machine. To send a fax of a document, hit command-p to open the print dialog, then hit the button that says 'PDF' plus a down-arrow. Choose 'Fax PDF', and in the pane which opens set 'Printer' to the Samsung (see whether there is a separate setting for the fax part). Enter the fax number to send to and see whether it works. If it does you probably won't get a progress bar as it sends, which is a bit disconcerting.

  • I want to fax from my mac using a Brother MFC-7220 Printer/fax

I'm currently using a Brother MFC-7220 Printer/Fax machine with my Mac Mini, attached via USB.
It works great as a printer, but I want to fax from within Mac Applications using the 7220.
I tried going "File/Print, then selecting the PDF pull down menu in the lower left corner of the print management window. I selected "Fax PDF..." but the system comes back with a "No Fax Modems Found.." message.
    Any suggestions/solutions ?
    Thanks

You may need to install the Brother drivers.
By default, Mac OS X only installs the printer drivers, ignoring other features of multi-function devices. By installing the vendor's driver you gain access to the other features.
In this case you should find that installing the driver enables a new printer option - Brother MFC-7220 (Fax) - which can be used to send your fax. So now faxing is as simple as choosing 'Print' and selecting the 'Fax' option from the list of available printers.

  • Cannot send fax from my mac after upgrading to yosemite

I used to be able to send a fax from my Macbook Pro by using Preview and then printing the PDF to the fax capability on my Laserjet colorMFP M475dn.
    After installing OS X Yosemite:
a dialog told me that "Some of the software for the printer is missing."
When I clicked the button to install, it then said "You need to install software to use this printer... If the software isn't available in Software Update, contact the manufacturer of your printer"
Then I downloaded .dmg files for both the laserjet and officejet (I also have a photosmart I use for scanning)
I deleted the printers and tried to re-add them
When I re-add the laserjet, fax does not show up on the Printer list.
How do I get the fax driver to install on OS X Yosemite?
    This question was solved.

My apologies for keeping you informed about reset printing system.
i have attached the screen which tells where the Use option is.
also on the screen where it displays the list of printers wait for few seconds and see if it detects the Fax. It took approx 20sec for me.

  • How do I set up the fax program so I can send faxes from my mac

How do I set up the fax program so I can send faxes from my mac

Do you have a fax machine or fax modem? If not, then you cannot fax over telephone lines, but you can subscribe to one of many eFax services.

  • Faxing from MacBook (Leopard Mac OS X 10.5.3)

    Good day all,
Can I fax from my MacBook without buying a specific software to do so?
Also, can I fax from my DSL line or must faxing take place from a non DSL connection?
    In advance thank you.

The software is included, but you lack the hardware. You need to buy the Apple USB modem and hook it up to an ordinary analog phone line.
If you want to use your DSL connection, you can't fax in the traditional way. You need to use one of the internet fax services. You can use those without having to buy additional hardware.

  • Faxing from my mac

Is it possible to get my internal fax modem sending faxes from my laptop (iBook G4)? I'm connected to the internet wirelessly via a broadband modem through a belkin router. thanks.

In order to fax you need to connect your internal modem to your telephone line. You can't fax across the internet using a dialup modem.

  • Can't print to windows Vista printer from Mac OS 10.6.7

    Hi All,
Proud new owner of iMac 27" and have successfully managed to set up file sharing between my new Mac and current Windows Vista machine.  Windows is attached to a Belkin 54g wireless router.  A Canon MP960 is attached to the Windows machine via USB.  The Mac is working with the network via Airport.
Problem is that I can't see the printer from the Mac.  I have tried manually setting up the printer to be shared with the Mac via:
Mac OS X v10.5 or later
Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
Choose Print & Fax from the View menu.
Click the + button to add a printer.
Press the Control key while clicking the "Default" icon (or any other icon on the toolbar), then choose Customize Toolbar from the contextual menu that appears.
Drag the Advanced (gear) icon to the toolbar.
    Click Done.
Click the Advanced icon that was added to the toolbar.
Choose Windows from the Type pop-up menu.
In the URL field, type the printer's address in one of the following formats:
    smb://workgroup/server/sharename
    smb://server/sharename
Note: "workgroup" is the name of the Windows workgroup that the computer sharing the printer belongs to. "server" is the name of the computer sharing the printer (or its IP address). "sharename" is the shared Windows printer's share name. If the share name contains spaces, replace each space with "%20" (without quotation marks).
Tip: You don't need a "workgroup" when specifying the IP address of the computer (such as when the printer is on a different subnet), or if your Mac belongs to the same Windows (SMB) workgroup.
In the Name field, type the name you would like to use for this printer in Mac OS X.
Choose the appropriate PPD or printer driver from the "Print Using" pop-up menu.
    Click Add
I have also allowed printer sharing on the windows machine.  I still can't print!
Can anyone please help?  Are there some settings I could have missed?

I have the same setup but with a Canon MX850.  This did not fix my problem.

  • Printer connected, printer works, but won't print from Mac

I'm helping someone with a printer problem, and I have a mystery on my hands.
The printer is connected (directly), shows up in the printer list, can print a test page, but won't print any document from this computer (it's fine from my laptop).
    It's a Mid-2011 Mini, 2.3Ghz, running 10.7.5. The printer is an Epson WF-2540.
This is a USB printer, connected directly to their Mac.
In "Settings", when you select Print/FAX and print a "Test Page" - Success! This is a process that invokes the Epson Driver directly [and bypasses the MAC print queuing mechanism]
When "Printing" from within any application (firefox, TextEdit, winders...)   The job starts to queue, but errors before engaging the printer.
R & R the Epson Drivers,  Clear the Printer "stuff" on the Mac, Reinstall drivers from the Epson website, Mac wants to update the "newest" Epson Drivers (kinda' funny when I think about it...).
    Still errors.
I attached directly to a USB port on my MacBook Pro.  Download drivers, etc..  Works like a champ!
We have deleted the printer from System Prefs, rebooted, and added it back.
We have even gone into Terminal and...
    sudo bash
    cd /etc/cups/ppd
    ls
    found EPSON_WF_2540_Series.ppd
    cp * /var/tmp/
    ls /var/tmp/*.ppd
    rm /etc/cups/ppd/*
    Still doesn't work.
    Anybody have any suggestions?

Hi, it's not clear... did you Rest the Printing system on the Mac?
    10.5/10.6/10.7/10.8 instructions...
In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.
    http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031215144430486
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
Any devices that previously appeared in your Printer List and Fax List will need to be added again after resetting the printing system.
Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X 10.5.x+++
        1.    To use the Reset Printing System feature in Mac OS X 10.5.x, follow these steps:

        4.    Control-click on list of printers on the left side of the window, then choose "Reset printing system" from the contextual menu. If you don't see a list of printers, Control-click on the text "Click + to add a printer or fax" and select "Reset printing system..."

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 SLOW Networked via wire Takes 5 mins+ from Mac

Our OfficeJet Pro takes 5+ mins to spit out a print from Mac OS X (10.5.8) via a wired network connection. Windows machine print to it immediately.

I had the same problem.  This seems to have worked for me: I configured the printer with a static IP address (see below).
Then I went to the Print & Fax control panel, hit "+" to add a printer, clicked "IP" and then put in the static address.  It filled in the rest without any problem.
Giving the printer a static IP address is pretty easy to do if you have experience with networking; you need to choose an address on your subnet (often 192.168.1.xxx) which is not in the range given out by your router's DHCP server (your router's DHCP configuration page should tell you what this is).  The "subnet mask" is almost always "255.255.255.0" .  You can set the configuration either from the printer's web interface, or from the control panel.
    Hope this helps!

  • Faxing from MS Word using OS 10.7.5

I just updated to MacOS 10.7.5 and I can no longer fax from within a Word document. Printing works fine. I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I updated all of the software to the latest available on the HP site. I print and fax wirelessly from a white Macbook.
When I go to File --> Print and change it to the fax function, I get an error message that says "Software is available from Apple Would you like to install it?" When I click ok, it pauses for a bit and then says "finding software." It then comes back saying "No other information is available about the problem." Then it stops.
What do I need to do in order to be able to fax from within my Word document? In OS 10.6.8 it worked just fine (then I had to mess it up by upgradng the software). I am sure there is a way to fix this and hopefully someone out there knows what it is.
    Thanks so much.
